Librarians play a key role in the understanding, retrieval, and assessment of gray literature (also spelled "grey literature") as it pertains to evidence-based clinical practice, particularly nursing. With the rise of evidence-based research and curriculum-specific requirements in advanced nursing programs, gray literature instruction has become a necessity rather than a nicety. References to gray literature are not restricted to structured literature reviews but serve broader purposes within evidence-based nursing, which aims to use the best available evidence to make informed decisions about patient care. Given the vast landscape and varied types of gray literature, identifying resources specific to nursing and quantifying their role in evidence-based nursing are challenging. Citation analysis can be used to identify types of gray literature types commonly found in nursing studies. This article seeks to establish the need for gray literature instruction in nursing curricula.

Librarians and educators have a unique opportunity to develop and incorporate gray literature instruction into nursing curricula, with specific focus on its definition, value, discoverability, and evaluation. This article presents a structured and hands-on approach to the collection of gray literature and its use in evidence-based nursing. Citation analysis provides empirical evidence identifying the types of such literature most used in nursing scholarship. Based on these findings, a method of gray literature instruction for nursing learners is established and presented.

I Sing the Body Electric (BODY ELECTRIC) is a fine arts and health promotion program that supports communication of healthy lifestyle choices among youth. BODY ELECTRIC connects youth in 27 high schools with health and education communities in the largest rural geographic education region in a Midwestern state. The three-phase prevention plan designed to increase resiliency and reduce risk behaviors among adolescents begins with biennial regional administration of the Youth Risk Behavior Survey, with added questions designed to identifying the top health concerns of area youth. In the second phase, these health concerns are crafted into prevention messages by youth, using the arts as a medium of expression. University interns, local artists, and community health and prevention professionals mentor the students with their project ideas. On completion, students present their work at the biennial BODY ELECTRIC Arts and Health Festival. A comprehensive media plan forms the third phase of the program, featuring a prevention communication network of original broadcast programming that links student messages to a wider community. A region-wide tour of the arts/prevention project collection is delivered to schools and communities in the area providing another venue for the student-produced arts and health messages. Background: Health professions (HP) students must achieve durable learning (DL) to transfer and apply knowledge from the classroom to the clinical setting. This review examines the state of the science of classroom-based DL in HP. Method: The Joanna Briggs Systematic Review Methodology was used. MEDLINE, CINAHL, PsycINFO, and ERIC databases were searched for articles published from 2006 to 2022. A total of 2,000 titles were identified for review, with 51 studies being selected for inclusion. Results: Multiple classroom-based learning strategies generally reported as being effective were identified, including flipped classroom, educational technology, spaced learning, team-based learning, concept mapping and schema, testing, and case study and problem-based learning. Conclusion: Although DL has been proven to be effective in the classroom setting for HP, no one type has been shown to be more effective than others. Aim: To identify teaching stategies, theories, and methods to enhance students' quality of life (QOL) that are used in preparing students for the NCLEX‐RN exam. Design: A scoping review was conducted. Methods: Arksey and O'Malley's methodological framework and PRISMA‐ScR guidelines were utilized. Data were derived from four databases including CINAHL, ERIC, PsychINFO and Web of Science using specific keywords. Inclusion criteria were English language and articles published in the last 7 years. Results: Studies (N = 25) revealed that multiple educational strategies are used to prepare students for the NCLEX‐RN exam; however, there was not a consensus on a best practice. Eight theories were utilized in more than one article. QOL concerns of psychological, social, spiritual, financial and occupational dimensions may relate to the NCLEX‐RN results. Introduction: Occupation‐centred practice is core to contemporary occupational therapy; however, knowledge and implementation of occupation in practice vary. New graduate occupational therapists find implementing occupation‐centred practice challenging, partly due to the influence of senior occupational therapists. However, little is known about senior therapists' views, knowledge, and use of occupation‐centred practice and the impact this has on new graduates. The aims of this study were to explore senior occupational therapists' perspectives on and use of occupation‐centred practice and the extent to which they influence the occupation‐centred practice of the new graduates they supervise. Methods: Interpretative phenomenology was used as the research design. Ten senior occupational therapists in Australia were purposively recruited to participate in semi‐structured interviews, which we transcribed. Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) was used to analyse the data and develop themes. Findings: Five themes were discovered from the data: together, but apart; a link between knowledge and identity; navigating different cultures; making up for what is missing; and good supervisors. The themes revealed participants' varied knowledge and use of occupation‐centred practice, the influence of practice context, and the way supervision impacted on the practice of new graduates. Conclusion: Senior occupational therapists valued occupation‐centred practice, but their understanding and implementation of it varied. Participants acknowledged that they held great power to influence new graduates' use of occupation‐centred practice through supervision. Innovative methods in teaching should be used in every college classroom to enhance student engagement, support any teaching environment and encourage inquiry among learners. Adults learn best by participation in relevant experiences and utilization of practical information. When adult students are active in their learning they are able to develop critical thinking skills, receive social support systems for the learning, and gain knowledge in an efficient way. The authors highlight several exemplary strategies for adult learners including, Think-Pair-Share, Tell-Help-Check, Give One, Get One, and the Immediate Feedback Assessment Test.

Intimate partner sexual violence (IPSV) is a prevalent phenomenon, yet an under-researched topic. Due to the complex nature of balancing love and fear, individuals who experience IPSV have unique needs and face unique barriers to seeking care. The purpose of this systematic review was to examine the literature on help-seeking and barriers to care in IPSV. Articles were identified through PubMed, CINAHL, PsycINFO, and Web of Science. Search terms included terms related to IPSV, intimate partner violence (IPV), domestic violence, sexual assault, and rape. The review was limited to the United States, and articles that were included needed to specifically measure or identify sexual violence in an intimate relationship and analyze or discuss IPSV in relation to help-seeking behaviors or barriers to care. Of the 17 articles included in this review, 13 were quantitative studies and four were qualitative studies. Various definitions and measurements of IPSV across studies included in this review make drawing broad conclusions challenging. Findings suggest that experiencing IPSV compared to experiencing nonsexual IPV (i.e., physical or psychological IPV) may increase help-seeking for medical, legal, and social services while decreasing help-seeking for informal support. Help-seeking can also reduce risk of future IPSV and decrease poor mental health outcomes. Barriers to seeking care in IPSV included social stigma, fear, and difficulty for individuals in identifying IPSV behaviors in their relationships as abuse. More inclusive research is needed among different populations including men, non-White individuals, nonheterosexual, and transgender individuals. The anticoagulant drug warfarin is effective in reducing the risk of stroke in people who have atrial fibrillation, according to a study of 11,526 members of Kaiser Permanente of Northern California. This study shows that warfarin can be used in primary care situations, although 80% of the people involved in this study went to an anticoagulant clinic to receive warfarin. Atrial fibrillation occurs when the upper part of the heart begins beating too fast.

An 8-year-old neutered male, Wood constitution, Maine Coon cat was presented with a 22-month history of severe constipation and megacolon. With conventional medications and an enema every 2-3 months, he could produce a soft, wet, large stool on average once every 14-16 days. Clinical exam findings included an animal with weight loss, bilateral deep weak pulses, a wet pink tongue and radiographs demonstrating a large, stool-impacted descending colon. A TCVM Pattern of Spleen Qi Deficiency was diagnosed. Due to his Wood constitution attitude about prolonged handling, a small number of acupuncture points at easily accessible locations were chosen for his treatment. Acupuncture techniques used included dry needle, aqua-acupuncture and electro-acupuncture. Over a 4-month period with 5 acupuncture sessions, the severe constipation slowly resolved. This case is an excellent clinical example of using TCVM treatment to address a difficult, poorly responsive clinical condition frequently seen in geriatric cats. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The aim of user education programme is to assist library users make the most effective use of library with little or no assistance from the library staff. Due to the greater relevance of libraries in information, education and the increasing complexity of libraries as a result of information explosion and a deluge of educational and information resources, it is imperative that libraries engage in user education programmes. In addition, availability of information resources and services to students is crucial but more importantly it is to ensure that students for whom these resources and services are provided utilise them adequately to satisfy their needs. The study therefore examines user education programmes, resources availability and use: the experience of college of education students in Kwara state, Nigeria. Descriptive survey design was adopted and the study population consisted 443 students in the department of chemistry, school of sciences, college of education, Kwara state, Nigeria. The simple random sampling technique was used to select a sample of 199. Questionnaire was the instrument used for data collection. Data was analysed using descriptive statistics for the five research questions. Findings revealed that textbooks 57.5% and Internet resources 52.2% were readily available to the respondents. 39.8% respondents strongly agreed that, user education developed their capabilities as self-sufficient users. Also, 34.4% respondents revealed that their library skills were developed and made them become more independent in locating and retrieving information materials. 81.7% respondents strongly agreed that crowdedness/largeness of the class capacity was a major barrier hindering user education in their libraries, 72.6% also indicated that lack of periodic user education programme was a barrier while 69.8% of respondents revealed that lack of relevant and up-to-date resources were user education challenges which negatively affect the use of library resources by the students. Introduction: Cognitive complaints in older adults may be indicative of progressive cognitive decline including Alzheimer's disease (AD), but also occur in other age-related chronic conditions, complicating identification of early AD symptoms. To better understand cognitive complaints in aging, we systematically reviewed the evidence to determine their prevalence and characterization among older adults with the most common age-related chronic conditions. Methods: This systematic review was conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses statement and the review protocol was prospectively registered with PROSPERO (ID: CRD42020153147). Searches were conducted in PubMed, CINAHL, PsycINFO, Web of Science, and ProQuest Dissertations & Theses A&I in June 2020. Two members of the review team independently determined article eligibility for inclusion and conducted quality appraisal. A narrative synthesis of results was used to integrate findings across studies and draw conclusions regarding the strength of the evidence in each chronic condition category. Results: Thirty-seven articles met eligibility criteria and were included in the review. Conditions represented were diabetes (n = 20), heart disease (n = 13), hypertension (n = 10), chronic lung disease (n = 5), arthritis (n = 4), heart failure (n = 2), and hyperlipidemia (n = 2). In addition, 16 studies included a measure of multimorbidity. Overall, there was a higher prevalence of cognitive complaints in individuals with higher multimorbidity, including a potential dose-dependent relationship. Findings for specific conditions were inconsistent, but there is evidence to suggest that cross-sectionally, older adults with diabetes, heart disease, chronic lung disease, and arthritis have more cognitive complaints than those without these conditions. Conclusion: There is strong evidence demonstrating that cognitive complaints are more common in older adults with higher multimorbidity, but little research examining these associations over time. Improving our understanding of the longitudinal trajectory of cognitive complaints, multimorbidity, and objective cognition in older age is an important area for future research. Human health biobanks are forms of research infrastructure that supply biospecimens and associated data to researchers, and therefore juxtapose the activities of clinical care and biomedical research. The discipline of biobanking has existed for over 20 years and is supported by several international professional societies and dedicated academic journals. However, despite both rising research demand for human biospecimens, and the growth of biobanking as an academic discipline, many individual biobanks continue to experience sustainability challenges. This commentary will summarize how the COVID-19 pandemic is creating new challenges and opportunities for both the health biobanking sector and the supporting discipline of biobanking. While the challenges for biobanks may be numerous and acute, there are opportunities for both individual biobanks and the discipline of biobanking to embrace change such that biobanks can continue to support and drive biomedical research. We will therefore describe numerous practical steps that individual biobanks and/or the discipline of biobanking can take to survive and possibly thrive in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Objective - To investigate the overall prevalence of citations to theses and dissertations, as well as their prevalence in feature articles, editorials, and review articles in top research nursing journals. To evaluate differences between journals and to determine whether there was a change in use over time. Methods - Journals were selected from the Medical Library Association's Nursing and Allied Health Resource Section's 2012 Selected List of Nursing Journals. An evaluation was conducted of citations from 3,711 articles published in 2011 and 2018 in 7 top nursing journals. Thesis and dissertation citations were identified and categorized by type of scholarly communication: feature articles, reviews, and editorials. Analysis was conducted for the prevalence of citations for theses and dissertations based on percentage of overall citations and the percentage of articles with a thesis and dissertation citation. Results - Thesis and dissertation citations accounted for 0.41% of all citations. However, 9.43% of the articles contained at least one thesis and dissertation citation. Feature articles contained more thesis and dissertation citations than review articles and editorials. The Journal of Advanced Nursing, Journal of Clinical Nursing, and the Scandinavian Journal of Caring Sciences published a higher percentage of articles with at least one thesis and dissertation citation. Conclusion - The overall use of theses and dissertations in nursing scholarship is comparatively low compared to other forms of scholarly communication. However, this unique form of scholarship viewed from its impact on the percentage of scholarly articles in nursing demonstrates that theses and dissertations have made more of a contribution than previously reported. Our research provides libraries and the nursing academy with empirical evidence for the value of theses and dissertations. It provides librarians and the nursing academy justification for continuing efforts to preserve, enhance access through digital repositories, and to continue to explore strategies to promote the use of theses and dissertations in research. The advent of digital media and the growing collection of digital documents have had a profound impact on reading. This study was carried out to investigate the influence of smart devices utilisation on the reading habits of students in selected private secondary schools in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. The study adopted the survey research design with a study population of 408 secondary school students in five private secondary schools in Akinyele LGA of Oyo State. A simple random sampling technique was used to select 50% of the population while questionnaire was the main instrument for data collection. Data was analysed using frequency distribution, mean and standard deviation for the research questions. Findings revealed that that Android (Techno, Samsung, Gionee, Infinix) 60.7% and Blackberry 12.6% were the mostly used mobile smart devices by the secondary school students. These devices were mostly used on daily basis. Some of the purpose of use of mobile smart devices by secondary school students in Akinyele LGA were for communication (e.g., calls, texting, e-mails); completing assignments; and for social networking. Results further revealed that concerning reading habits of students, 96.2% of the students read to acquire knowledge; 91.2% like reading always; and 61.2% students like reading on smart devices. Distraction from the use of mobile devices, high cost of textbooks and other reading materials, as well as inadequate time to read were some of the major challenges to reading habits of students in the selected secondary schools. Many students now prefer to read on smart devices rather than the printed texts. Apart from this, reading class notes and subject related textbooks have become their usual habits. This can be attributed to the availability and the handy nature of the mobile smart devices which offer the students opportunity of accessing information on the go. Therefore, parents should monitor the use of smart phones by their children to prevent the distractions. The Creative Commons (CC) is a viable means by which access and individual author's right can be protected with the author specifying terms on which his work can be used. However, many authors of intellectual knowledge properties have still not taken full advantage of the Creative Commons and the numerous licences created through which their works could be used. The study investigates awareness and perception of CC licences by lecturers in Faculty of Education, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. The descriptive survey design was adopted in this study. The population included 150 lecturers from 11 departments of the Faculty of Education, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. The census technique was adopted for this study, because it permits the entire population in the study to be selected for the data collection since the population is not too large, thus having enough time to conduct the research and questionnaire was the main data collection instrument. Descriptive statistics, frequency counts and percentages, means and standard deviation, the Pearson's Product Moment Correlation (PPMC: Pearson r) and multiple regression were used to analyse data. Findings revealed that lecturers in the Faculty of Education were moderately aware of CC licenses. Participation in conferences and workshop (=2.84; std dev. =1.149); professional forums/platforms (=2.79; std dev. =1.111); write ups/literature (=2.68; std dev. =1.184); the library (=2.66; std dev. =1.136) and more aid awareness of CC licenses by lecturers. Lecturers hold moderate negative perception about CC licenses. There was significant influence of CC licence awareness on its perception by lecturers. The study therefore concludes that adequate awareness and positive perception of CC licences among lecturers will determine to a great extent if lecturers will use the CC licenses or not. Training, awareness programmes as well as policies that promote the use of CC license should be adopted by the university management to encourage lecturers to use CC licenses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: As access to information grows in tandem with the growth of the Internet, access to grey literature also increases. Because little is known about the use of grey literature in nursing journals, the authors investigated the prevalence and types of grey literature citations in top nursing journals. Methods: We analyzed all citations (n=52,116) from articles published in 2011 in 6 top nursing journals selected from the Medical Library Association's Nursing and Allied Health Resource Section's 2012 "Selected List of Nursing Journals." Grey literature citations were identified and categorized by type. Results: Grey literature accounted for 10.4% of citations across all 6 journals. Publications from governments (54.3%) and corporate organizations (26.8%) were the most common types of grey literature. Conclusion: The substantial citation of grey literature in nursing journals shows that nursing scholars seek and use this category of information. "39 A common form oftreatment for depression is cognitive-behavioral therapy ("CBT") and interpersonal therapy; however, ifa patient has an abnormal sleep pattern, then there is an increased risk of depression reappearing.40 Though selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors ("SSRIs") are another preferred method of treating depression, evidence demonstrates that their use may cause a temporary return ofdepressive symptoms, an increase in REM latency, and reduction in REM sleep.41 As a result, depression and sleep-deprived individuals are often caught up in a vicious cycle, where sleep-deprived individuals become depressed due to an inability to properly restore the body and mind, while depressed individuals often become sleep-deprived due to symptoms or treatment. 20: 71 loss is related to an increased risk of diabetes, or impaired glucose tolerance, which is a precursor to diabetes.44 The Sleep Heart Health Study found that adults who reported to sleep for five hours or less were 2.5 times more likely to be diagnosed with diabetes than those who slept between seven and eight hours.45 Furtherniore, several studies have revealed that sleep loss often leads to heart attacks and strokes.46 One particular study found that those who slept five hours or less increased the risk ofhaving a heart attack or stroke by 45 percent.47 Sleep researcher, Patrick Finan, Ph.13., reports that sleep deprivation puts one at an increased risk for high blood pressure, 33% increased risk for dementia, 48% increased risk for developing heart disease, 36% increased risk for colorectal cancer, and one has less active immunity protectors called, "natural killer cells."48 With all the risks that humans may suffer as a result of being sleepdeprived, why do we legally allow our medical professionals to perform their duties while being in an incoherent, unhealthy state?. The wealth of any nation depends on the quality of its human resources. Teachers are the implementers of every educational policy at classroom level; they are those who transform educational decisions into reality. Teachers are the nucleus of the teaching and learning process. Teachers should therefore possess a good personality and employ a discipline style that soothe the students he is teaching because the performance and interest of student towards a course can improve or decline if the personality and discipline styles of the course teacher is inappropriate. The study therefore investigate perception of teachers' personality and discipline styles of performance in cataloguing and classification among Library, Archival and Information Studies students in University of Ibadan. Descriptive survey design was adopted for this study and the study population consisted of 300 and 400 level undergraduate students in the Department of Library, Archival and Information Studies, University of Ibadan. The total population was 93 undergraduate students. Total enumeration sampling technique was used for this study. Data was collected through questionnaire and was analysed with simple percentage counts. The personality and discipline styles of Cat and Class lecturers have influence on students' performance as it was confirmed that students perceived that poor lecturer discipline style affected students' performance. Teachers/lecturers are encouraged to possess good personality and use acceptable discipline styles as these will go a long way in stirring the interest of students to his/her course.
