Introducción: la pandemia causada por el virus respiratorio SARS-Cov2, generó una gran crisis mundial por su alta tasa de mortalidad y morbilidad. En los últimos años se ha evidenciado casos de personas que han desarrollado manifestaciones cutáneas como el vitíligo ya sea durante la enfermedad o después de la vacunación. Objetivo: describir la relación entre Vitíligo y Covid-19 para así poder facilitar su diagnóstico y tratamiento. Método: se realizó una revisión bibliográfica en donde se ejecutó el análisis de artículos originales y revisiones sistémicas actualizadas que nos aportaran información acerca del vitíligo y SARS-Cov2. La búsqueda se realizó en buscadores Bibliográficos como Clinical Key, Pubmed, Google Académico, teniendo en cuenta los artículos más relevantes dentro de la comunidad científica. Se tuvieron en cuenta para la búsqueda palabras claves como, "Vitíligo", y "Vitíligo asociado a COVID- 19". Resultado: en los estudios y artículos analizados, se evidencia la aparición de algunas enfermedades autoinmunes en la que destaca el vitíligo. Se asocian estrés por COVID-19 y la extensión del vitíligo. El estrés y los factores estresantes pueden tener un efecto profundo en la autoinmunidad, siendo el vitíligo una enfermedad autoinmunitaria. Conclusión: la patogenia del vitíligo es compleja e implica la interacción de múltiples factores, entre ellos el estrés oxidativo y la autoinmunidad con susceptibilidad genética. La enfermedad por COVID-19 desencadena una tormenta de citocinas, en la que se observa elevación de IL-6, mientras que el vitíligo probablemente pueda incrementar la cascada de citocinas y empeorar el pronóstico.

Heterostructured materials such as metallic laminates (LMCs) can be specifically tailored to showcase significantly increased mechanical behavior based on the hetero-deformation-induced (HDI) strengthening effect caused by the co-deformation at the vicinity of interfaces. This study introduces a new approach to quantify these co-deformation effects in metallic laminates by characterizing the behavior of inelastic back strain upon unloading. Experimentally, the inelastic back strain (IBS) is determined by cyclic loading–unloading–reloading (LUR) tensile tests. Compared to a linear rule of mixture (ROM) approximation used as a reference, additional amounts of inelastic back strain were measured for different metallic laminate systems, strongly depending on the dissimilarities of yield strength and elastic moduli of constituents and the interface density in the laminates. Conducting finite element analysis, the distribution of residual plastic strain was investigated for the different metallic laminates used in this study. Based on this, a schematic overview of the spatial distribution of the hetero-deformation zone for metallic laminates with dissimilar yield strength and elastic moduli is derived, summarizing the results of this study. As most mechanical components are subject to cyclic stresses during the application, the method provided in this study to characterize the co-deformation behavior of metallic laminates in the microyielding regime enables valuable insights into mechanisms affecting the cyclic deformation behavior of metallic laminates for future applications.

Large genome‐scale studies are deposited in various public sequence repositories. However, their access and analysis can be non‐trivial to infrequent users. Here, we present a new database connecting whole transcriptomes with clinical data for straight‐forward access and analysis of patient‐specific samples. Users can perform association tests of survival and gene expression across different cohorts, identify cell‐type expressions, or correlate the presence of immune cells. Pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum [L.] R. Br.) is an important crop capable of growing in harsh and marginal environments, with the highest degree of tolerance to drought and heat stresses among cereals. Diverse germplasm of pearl millet shows a significant phenotypic variation in response to abiotic stresses, making it a unique model to study the mechanisms responsible for stress mitigation. The present study focuses on identifying the physiological response of two pearl millet high-resolution cross (HRC) genotypes, ICMR 1122 and ICMR 1152, in response to low and high vapor pressure deficit (VPD). Under high VPD conditions, ICMR 1152 exhibited a lower transpiration rate (Tr), higher transpiration efficiency, and lower root sap exudation than ICMR 1122. Further, Pg-miRNAs expressed in the contrasting genotypes under low and high VPD conditions were identified by deep sequencing analysis. A total of 116 known and 61 novel Pg-miRNAs were identified from ICMR 1152, while 26 known and six novel Pg-miRNAs were identified from ICMR 1122 genotypes, respectively. While Pg-miR165, 168, 170, and 319 families exhibited significant differential expression under low and high VPD conditions in both genotypes, ICMR 1152 showed abundant expression of Pg-miR167, Pg-miR172, Pg-miR396 Pg-miR399, Pg-miR862, Pg-miR868, Pg-miR950, Pg-miR5054, and Pg-miR7527 indicating their direct and indirect role in root physiology and abiotic stress responses. Drought responsive Pg-miRNA targets showed upregulation in response to high VPD stress, further narrowing down the miRNAs involved in regulation of drought tolerance in pearl millet. Background: Cancer immunotherapy has transformed metastatic cancer treatment, yet challenges persist regarding therapeutic efficacy. RECQL4, a RecQ-like helicase, plays a central role in DNA replication and repair as part of the DNA damage response, a pathway implicated in enhancing efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI) therapies. However, its role in patient response to ICI remains unclear., Methods: We analysed whole exome and bulk RNA sequencing data from a pan-cancer cohort of 25 775 patients and cutaneous melanoma cohorts (untreated: n = 471, anti-progressive disease [PD]-1 treated: n = 212). RECQL4 copy number variations and expression levels were assessed for patient outcomes. We performed gene set enrichment analysis to identify RECQL4-dependent signalling pathways and explored the association between RECQL4 levels and immunoscores. We evaluated the interplay of ICI response and RECQL4 expression in melanoma cohorts of 95 responders and 85 non-responders prior to and after ICI-targeted therapy and tested the prognostic power of RECQL4. Finally, we generated genetically engineered RECQL4 variants and conducted comprehensive multi-omic profiling, employing techniques such as liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry, to elucidate mechanistic insights., Results: We identified RECQL4 as a critical negative regulator of poor prognosis and response to ICI therapy, but also demonstrated its suitability as an independent biomarker in melanoma. High tumour purity and limited signatures of tumour immunogenicity associated with response to anti-PD-1 correlated with high RECQL4 activity. We found alterations in the secretion profile of immune regulatory factors and immune-related pathways robustly suppressed in tumours with high RECQL4 levels, underscoring its crucial role in fostering immune evasion. Mechanistically, we identified RECQL4-mediated regulation of major histocompatibility complex class II molecule expression and uncovered class II major histocompatibility complex transactivator as a mediator bridging this regulation., Conclusions: Our findings unraveled the pivotal role of RECQL4 in immune modulation and its potential as both a predictive biomarker and therapeutic target for optimising immunotherapeutic strategies across various cancer types., Highlights: High RECQL4 expression limits survival and can act as an independent prognostic factor in melanoma patients. RECQL4 has the potential to act as a negative feedback mediator of immune checkpoint-targeted therapy by limiting signatures associated with therapeutic efficacy.
