This study investigates the empirical impact of China-Pak business cycle synchronization, urbanization, foreign direct investment, exports, and imports on environmental degradation in Pakistan from 1975 to 2017. In doing so, we use the Hodrick-Prescott filter to obtain the trend component of GDP. Then the trend component is subtracted from the original series of GDP to capture the cyclical component of China and Pakistan. The business cycle synchronization index is used to estimate synchronization between the business cycles of both countries. Using the ARDL method, we investigate the existence of a long-run co-integration relationship between the variables of interest. The empirical findings indicate that all explanatory variables (except FDI) are found to be significant factors of environmental degradation in the model. Furthermore, both imports and urbanization have a positive and significant impact on environmental degradation in Pakistan. At the same time, China-Pak business cycle synchronization and exports are discovered to have negative and significant coefficients for environmental degradation in Pakistan. The negative and significant ECM value indicates model convergence and a short-run relationship. The findings of the study suggest that improvement in China-Pak business cycle synchronization may be a factor that promotes environmental sustainability in Pakistan. An increase in exports and a decrease in imports can significantly contribute to reducing environmental degradation in Pakistan. A favorable balance of payment can provide sufficient financial prosperity to take environmental preservation measures. Policymakers should create effective urban planning, which has the potential to improve the country’s environmental quality.

Social media channels are interactive channels that let users spread content, participate, and generate positive or negative news. In this era of social media (SM), organizations run structured and systematic campaigns to shape their corporate images. The present study examines the role of social consciousness (SC) of employees, entertainment (Ent), and altruism (Alt) on unverified news sharing (UVN) with the mediation of corporate image (CI) and the moderation of workplace stress (WS). We conducted the study on 375 employees of the social media teams in the corporate sector in China. The sampling technique used in this study is convenience sampling. We carried out data analysis using structural equation modeling (SEM) with the help of Smart PLS (Partial Least Square) software. The results reveal that the entertainment and altruism of employees affect UVN. However, the direct negative effect of social consciousness of employees and CI on UVN came out to be insignificant. The findings also show that CI mediates the relationship between the social consciousness (SC) of employees and UVN, altruism and UVN, and entertainment and UVN. The moderating role of WS between CI and UVN is significant. Theoretically, the study contributes to the literature by examining the effect of different determinants of UVN on SM on the role of CI and WS. Practically, the present study provides implications for the managers and the organizations. The study finds that Alt is an essential factor that fosters UVN and CI; therefore, altruistic values of the employees should be instigated to reduce the flow of UVN.

Recommender-systems have been a significant research direction in both literature and practice. The core of recommender systems are the recommendation mechanisms, which suggest to a user a selected set of items supposed to match user true intent, based on existing user preferences. In some scenarios, the items to be recommended are not intended for personal use but a group of users. Group recommendation is rather more since group members have wide-ranging levels of interests and often involve conflicts. However, group recommendation endures the over-specification problem, in which the presumingly relevant items do not necessarily match true user intent. In this paper, we address the problem of diversity in group recommendation by improving the chance of returning at least one piece of information that embraces group satisfaction. We proposed a bounded algorithm that finds a subset of items with maximal group utility and maximal variety of information. Experiments on real-world rating data sets show the efficiency and effectiveness of our approach.

This article uses the vector error correction model (VECM) to analyze the transmission mechanism of bilateral relationship between exports and economic growth in Vietnam over the period 1999-2014. The results show that: (1) Existing bilateral relationship between exports and economic growth in Vietnam through the transmission channel in both short and long term; (2) Exports growth has been the motivation for economic growth and the resource factors play an important role in the transmission of the effects of exports to economic growth of Vietnam; (3) Economic growth also contribute to export growth by improving competitiveness in international trade through increasing productivity.

This paper investigates the determinants of economic growth in two different periods, 2002-2008 and 2008-2013. As national output can be determined by the functions of production and consumption, the explanatory variables consist of growth rates of investment, labor, household consumption, government spending and exports. Analyzing the data of 129 countries, this paper has four main findings: (i) Investment and exports have positive impacts on economic growth; (ii) Labor has significant positive impact if we investigate the period from 2002 to 2013 as a whole. The effect is only positive in the first period with low statistically significance while remains unclear in the second period; (iii) Household consumption has ambiguous impact on economic growth. There exists some evidences (with 90% confidence level) that household consumption might produce a minor adverse effect on economic growth; (iv) The relationship between economic growth and government spending is positive in the first period and negative in the second.
