In hypofractionated radiation therapy (RT), the treatment is delivered by few fractions with high doses per fraction. This is in contrast to conventionally fractionated RT where the total dose is delivered in many fractions with low doses per fraction. Hypofractionation is increasingly used in RT for small tumour volumes, but knowledge about radiation-induced tox¬icity in healthy tissue (organs at risk, OARs) and suitable methods for modelling toxicity in this specific situation is limited. The aim of this thesis is to investigate radiation-induced toxicity in normal tissue caused by hypofractionated RT through the development of modelling methods and their applications to clinical data. Particular emphasis will be on the fractionation effect. The thesis treats theoretical and practical aspects of normal tissue complication probability (NTCP) modelling such as radiobiologically consistent dose-response curves, how to estimate composite doses in combined radiation therapy with limited treatment information and how to manage situations where non-treatment-related factors contribute to a studied toxicity. The thesis also discusses how fractionation effects as described by the linear-quadratic model may affect the modelling procedure and the modelling results. The clinical applications involve two datasets with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients (n=26) or localized prostate cancer patients (n=874). Patients were consecutively treated at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Göteborg, Sweden, 1998-2005 and 1993-2006, respectively. The first paper presents NTCP modelling results for radiation-induced rib fractures after hypofractionated SBRT for NSCLC. The results indicate that the high-dose region is more strongly asso¬ciated with rib fracture than a low dose in a large volume. The second paper presents a survey of 21 patient-reported genitourinary symptoms among prostate cancer survivors. The toxicity profile for survivors treated with the combination of conventionally fractionated external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) and hypofractionated brachytherapy (EBRT+BT) is similar to the toxicity profile for survivors treated with convention¬ally fractionated EBRT. The third paper investigates urethral pain among prostate cancer survivors and finds that higher fractionation-corrected urethral dose corresponds to higher prevalence; no such relationship is seen for absorbed dose. Survivors with three years to follow-up report urethral pain more fre¬quently than survivors with more than three years to follow-up. The fourth paper suggests a method to estimate composite doses in pelvic OARs after prostate cancer EBRT+BT with limited treatment information. It was motivated by the lack of BT dose information in the prostate cancer dataset. The method produces robust estimations for OARs located far from the prostate, but estimations for OARs located close to the prostate may be less robust. The fifth paper presents a relationship between mean urinary bladder dose (with or without frac¬tionation correction) and urinary leakage for men treated with EBRT. Analyses are performed for survivors treated with EBRT and EBRT+BT separately as well as for the whole study population. Symptom background rates from non-irradiated controls were considered. Estimated composite urinary bladder doses by the method suggested in Paper IV are used for the EBRT+BT group.

De senaste åren har utsläppsreglerna för sjöfarten blivit allt hårdare och under de kommande åren skärps de ännu mer. För att svaveldirektiven för sjöfarten ska fungera effektivt så krävs det också att de efterlevs. Syftet med den här studien var därför att undersöka hur länderna i Europeiska SECA områdena agerar och kommer att agera i framtiden för att se till att svaveldirektiven efterlevs. Studien syftar också till att undersöka hur efterlevnadskontroller genomförs, samt se om länderna har infört sanktioner mot överträdelser och vad dessa innebär. För att få svar på detta studerades lagar och förordningar, men framförallt skickades frågeformulär ut till de ansvariga myndigheterna i flera olika länder kring SECA områdena. Slutsatsen av det här arbetet är att samtliga länder anser att efterlevnadskontroll sker i tillräcklig omfattning och alla länder använder sig av samma metod. I Sverige pågår utveckling av en optisk mätmetod för att mäta svavelhalt i avgaserna ifrån luften, men än är metoden inte tillräckligt säker för att kunna användas. Det framkom också att i flera länder anses det på grund av flera faktorer vara svårt att fälla någon ifall de bryter mot gällande svavelförordningar, därför anses det också finnas en risk för överträdelser. Detta trots att det i andra länder faktiskt sker ingripande mot överträdelser och samtliga länder använder sig av samma metoder för efterlevnadskontroll. Det saknas i dagsläget även sanktioner mot överträdelser i flera länder.

Företaget detta examensarbete är utfört åt heter YIT och är ett stort företag som erbjuder tjänster så som, tekniska installationer inom fastighetsteknik, service av fastighetstekniska installationer och utveckla energieffektivitet i dess lösningar och tjänster. De finns i Norden, Baltikum, Ryssland och Centraleuropa. YIT erbjöd oss att göra ett arbete på Eson Pac AB där vi skulle göra om enlinjeschemat på kraftnätet samt märka ut vart alla centraler och undercentraler finns på situationsritning. Vår uppgift på Eson Pac AB blev då att uppdatera de befintliga enlinjeschemat, situationsritningar och göra nya skyltar till de centraler/undercentraler som tillkommit i byggnaden. Det resulterade i att dokumentationen över Eson Pac AB:s kraftnät blev slutfört och komplett.

Addiction has been a problem for centuries. However, it wasn`t until the 1930s that research in this field was conducted systematically. At that time, the main focus was the wife of the alcoholic. Thirty years later the first stress-theories evolved. The theories showed that the husband´s drinking triggered the wife´s stress. During the next decade, the effect of alcohol-/ drug abuse on family and relatives, was studied, as well as the different ways in which they coped with these stressfull situations. The current study sheds light upon the thought and experiences of the adult children of addicts, with a focus on conceptions of quality-of-life. The thesis is based on a qualitative study conducted by interviewing individuals who had grown up in families where adults had addiction problems. The results show that the respondents are progressing to a higher quality-of-life. Still, there is more quality-of-life to achieve. It is also important to highlight the situation of children, and adult child perspectives in society - not just those of individuals who have an addiction

I denna uppsats har vi mätt produktionseffektiviteten vid Sveriges 21 polismyndigheter i syfte att identifiera vilka polismyndigheter som är relativt mest produktiva. Vidare har vi beräknat hur stor förbättringspotentialen är för de polismyndigheter som är improduktiva. Beräkningarna grundar sig på Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), en metod som används i syfte att beräkna den relativa produktionseffektiviteten. Metoden tillåter multipla variabler vilket möjliggör en analys av flervalsproduktion, d.v.s. en analys av enheter som producerar flera prestationer (outputs) med hjälp av flera insatsfaktorer (inputs). Populationen av prestationer och insatsfaktorer finns att tillgå i den nationella resultatmodell som utvecklats av Rikspolisstyrelsen och polismyndigheterna med avsikt att förbättra styrningen av det polisiära arbetet. Urvalet av vilka prestationer och resurser som har legat till grund för beräkningen är sex-sju till antalet och reflekterar de viktigaste produktionsförutsättningarna för respektive polismyndighets inriktning. Resultatet av studien tyder på en stor variation vad gäller produktionseffektiviteten mellan respektive polismyndighet. Endast fem av samtliga 21 polismyndigheter är relativt produktiva, d.v.s. att de erhållit ett resultat på 100 procent inom samtliga inriktningar, nämligen Stockholm, Kronoberg, Gotland, Blekinge samt Örebro. Dessa är till antal något färre än vad vi hade förväntat oss innan genomförd undersökning. Att det är så pass få produktiva polismyndigheter tyder emellertid på en stor förbättringspotential vid nästan samtliga polismyndigheter.
