Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the language policy in the field of transport using the example of English, which is the international language of the transport communications system. The analysis of the concept of "language policy" as a whole is given, its main directions are determined. A brief description of the process of standardization of terms as the main element of the language policy in the field of transport is given. Further, the question of the admissibility of elements of territorial variability in transport terminology is considered. For an accurate quantitative description, it is proposed to introduce a new research tool - the variance index. The work was carried out on the material of the English language (British and American versions) in the field of railway, road, air and water transport. Research methods include: analysis of scientific literature, analysis of dictionary entries, statistical methods, comparison and collation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The Eurasian (née European) Modern Pollen Database (EMPD) was established in 2013 to provide a public database of high-quality modern pollen surface samples to help support studies of past climate, land cover, and land use using fossil pollen. The EMPD is part of, and complementary to, the European Pollen Database (EPD) which contains data on fossil pollen found in Late Quaternary sedimentary archives throughout the Eurasian region. The EPD is in turn part of the rapidly growing Neotoma database, which is now the primary home for global palaeoecological data. This paper describes version 2 of the EMPD in which the number of samples held in the database has been increased by 60 % from 4826 to 8134. Much of the improvement in data coverage has come from northern Asia, and the database has consequently been renamed the Eurasian Modern Pollen Database to reflect this geographical enlargement. The EMPD can be viewed online using a dedicated map-based viewer at https://empd2.github.io and downloaded in a variety of file formats at https://doi.pangaea.de/10.1594/PANGAEA.909130 (Chevalier et al., 2019).

Abstract

The paper presents a review of stratigraphy, lithology and metallogeny of the Paleogene and Neogene coal basins from the Primorye region of southeast Russia. The stratigraphic division of the studied sections is based on the abundant fossil plant material, represented by leaf impressions and, in lesser amounts, fruit and seed fossils, as well as detailed palynological analyses. Previously published U[sbnd]Pb zircon and K[sbnd]Ar bulk-rock dates of volcanic and volcaniclastic rocks were also used. As a result of this study, five stages of Cenozoic sedimentation are distinguished, namely the Late Paleocene, Early Eocene, Late Eocene, Late Oligocene, and Early Miocene. The Early Eocene, Late Eocene, Late Oligocene coal-bearing units carry high concentrations of critical elements and include 3 of the 7 most germanium-enriched coal deposits in the world. In addition, coals in the Pushkino, Pavlovka, Vanchin, Rakovka, and Rettikhovka basins contain numerous occurrences of rare earth elements and yttrium; gold occurs in the Pavlovka, Vanchin, Rakovka, Krylovka, Sredne-Bikin, and Verkhne-Bikin basins; uranium occurs in the Pavlovka, Rakovka, Rettikhovka, and Glukhovka basins; while zirconium and niobium occur in the Pushkino basin.
