Udgivelsen “Nordic and Muslim: Emerging Legal Practices” undersøger den interaktion, der foregår mellem nordisk ret og praktiseret Islam. Publikationen indeholder bidrag fra en række forskere fra forskellige discipliner, herunder jurister, religionssociologer etc., The publication“Nordic and Muslim: Emerging Legal Practices” investigates the interaction that is taking place between Nordic law and practised Islam. It contains contributions from a number of researchers from different disciplines.

The chapter explores the symbols and myths of EU transnational solidarity through a three-fold analysis of transnational solidarity within, across, and beyond the EU. Based on post-Cold War study of the EU in global politics over the past three decades, the chapter compares and contrasts transnational solidarity from communitarian and cosmopolitan perspectives before advocating a cosmopolitical understanding of EU transnational solidarity in a global context. The chapter proceeds by delineating and theorising the concepts used, including symbols and myths, European integration, and transnational solidarity in order to prepare the ground for the next three analytical sections. Section two examines transnational solidarity within the EU by looking at symbols and myths of communitarian, cosmopolitan, and cosmopolitical solidarities. Section three looks across the borders of the EU to consider the symbols and myths of communitarian, cosmopolitan, and cosmopolitical solidarities within the European neighbourhood. Section four goes beyond the EU to analyse the symbols and myths of communitarian, cosmopolitan, and cosmopolitical solidarities with distantly situated others through EU external actions. The chapter concludes by arguing the need to clearly identify, in line with Carol Gould , transnational EU solidarities as overlapping networks of relations that share and support actions to eliminate oppression or reduce suffering. It is furthered argued that cosmopolitical solidarities that network and share global ethics with local politics are more likely to take actions in concert that are caring and empathic towards distantly situated others.

In the 21st Century China and the EU have used concepts, philosophies and principles of harmony and solidarity in attempts to counter internal tensions and secure legitimacy. Sustainability as a concept and principle relates more widely to transnational environmental challenges and climate change. Populism, dystopian fiction, market, and political propaganda are normative reactions to the present uncertainty in a fragmented transnational world society. Such normative reactions and tools may both support and undermine legitimacy of some involved actors. Legal institutions, cultures and concepts undergo major changes during a period characterized by turbulence both within and between states.

Artiklen behandler udviklingen fra nordiske (kvinderetlige) legalstrategier og udviklingen af kvindelige rollemodeller i politik og ret til fremvæksten af neoliberale, kønsblinde strategier, der tager udgangspunkt køn som uerklæret samfundsmæssig symbolsk 'lim', og medfører re-traditionaliserede kønsforhold. Nye strategier ses især indenfor miljøområdet, hvor mange unge kvinder uden politiske rettigheder, spiller en betydelig rolle.

Artiklen bygger på forfatternes arbejde som medlemmer af Trossamfundsudvalget, der i 2017 udgav Betænkning 1564 En samlet lovregulering om andre trossamfund end folkekirken. Arbejdet beskrives i historisk og retssociologisk perspektiv med fokus på forfatningssikret pluralisme og populistisk anti-pluralisme.
