Background This study aimed to examine the prevalence of burnout, determine burnout-related factors, investigate resilience levels, and assess the relationship between burnout and resilience among physical therapy (PT) students at King Saud University (KSU) in Saudi Arabia. Material and Methods This cross-sectional study involved 153 PT students studying at KSU between January and March 2023. The participants completed an online questionnaire, a Maslach Burnout Inventory , and a Brief Resilience Scale . Results Low-to-moderate levels of Emotional Exhaustion (EE) were observed in 85% of the participants and high Depersonalization (DP) levels were reported by 34.2%. Female participants reported higher levels of EE and DP, whereas males had a greater prevalence of low Personal Achievement (PA) levels. Approximately 6.5% of the study participants reported high burnout levels (a combination of high DP, high EE, and low PA). Academic stress, followed by sleeping difficulties and changes in the academic year structure, were the most important factors contributing to higher levels of burnout (75.2%, 56.9%, and 43.8%, respectively). Most study participants around (66.0%) reported normal resilience levels. A significant correlation was detected between resilience and 2 domains of burnout (DP and PA), with the correlation being negative and weak for DP and positive and moderate for PA. Conclusions Overall, low-to-moderate levels of burnout were observed among the PT students who took part. Related factors that contributed to burnout were academic stress, sleeping difficulties, and academic year structure. A normal level of resilience was found to be significantly related to DP and PA but not to EE on the burnout subscales. In an era where digital competence is increasingly crucial, understanding the factors that influence successful learning outcomes, especially among older adults, is vital. This study investigates the impact of psychological motivation, perseverance, consistency of interest, and instructor interaction on cognitive problem-solving abilities, subsequently affecting digital competence and individual impact. Utilizing Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) on a sample of 459 older adults who have completed digital competence training, this research provides empirical insights into the learning process. Findings reveal that psychological motivation significantly influences cognitive problem-solving, which, in turn, enhances digital competence and personal achievement. Interestingly, while perseverance and interaction with instructors also positively impact problem-solving, consistency of interest does not show a significant effect. These results suggest the need for educational strategies that foster motivation and effective instructor-learner interaction to improve digital learning outcomes. The study underscores the importance of tailored digital education approaches for older adults, highlighting the role of motivational and cognitive factors in bridging digital divides and enhancing life quality through digital literacy. IntroductionBurnout is a pervasive issue in healthcare, and it impacts both the wellbeing of healthcare professionals and the quality of patient care. This study examines factors associated with burnout and working environment among respiratory therapists in Saudi Arabia.MethodsA structured questionnaire was used to collect data from respiratory therapists. We collected 315 questionnaires including burnout assessment. Multinomial logistic regression was used to assess the relationship between various variables and the likelihood of experiencing severe burnout and personal achievement problems.ResultsMarital status was a significant predictor of severe burnout (p = 0.001), with single individuals having 8.2 times higher odds than married individuals. Working longer than 44 h per week was associated with a 19.3-fold increase in the odds of severe personal achievement issues compared to those working 40–44 h per week (p < 0.001). Age, gender, living arrangements, education, employment status, and salary level were not significant predictors of severe burnout or personal achievement issues.Conclusion with discussionThe findings highlight that marital status and extended working hours are significantly associated with increased burnout among respiratory therapists in Saudi Arabia. These results underscore the importance of social support networks and work-life balance in mitigating burnout risks within this profession.

Abstract Objective To evaluate burnout syndrome among Indonesian urologists by describing its prevalence and risk factors. Materials and methods This is a cross-sectional study conducted from February to April 2020. A validated Indonesian version of the Maslach Burnout Inventory that consists of 22 questions addressing emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal achievement was utilized. The questionnaire was constructed using Google Forms (Google, Inc.) and was distributed via e-mail and WhatsApp Messenger (Facebook, Inc.). Burnout was defined as either high score on emotional exhaustion, or high score on depersonalization, or low score on personal achievement. Several variables were analyzed as risk factors to burnout using multivariate analysis. All statistical analyses were carried out using Statistical Software for Social Science (SPSS) version 23. Results From 486 eligible members of IUA, 184 (37%) respondents completed the questionnaire. Burnout syndrome was detected in 43 respondents (23.4%). From the results, most of the respondents have low EE (54.9%), low DP (77.7%), and moderate PA (45.7%). Bivariate analysis showed that age of less than 44 years old and being single were associated with increased risk of burnout with OR 2.2 (1.0–5.1, 95% CI, p-value 0.04) while being married decreases risk of burnout with OR 0.2 (0.1–0.8, 95% CI, p-value

Introduction: burnout is a syndrome characterized by emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and emotional exhaustion that occurs due to exposure to stressful conditions over a long period. It can lead to poor job performance, apathy, and lack of productivity. This study looks at the prevalence of burnout in medical interns in a tertiary hospital in South Africa and the factors that may contribute to burnout. Methods: an analytical cross-sectional study was conducted. Medical interns working in Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in 2019 were invited to participate. The participants filled questionnaire that had demographic information, the Maslach Burnout Inventory Scale, a scale to rate the rotations that they believed contributed towards their burnout and factors they think contributed towards their burnout. Our data was analyzed using Stata. Results: out of a possible 165 potential participants, 101 medical interns enrolled. 95% of the participants reported burnout. Statistically significant factors contributing towards burnout were lack of resources and poor relations with support staff and senior staff. The medical rotation that was reported by the participants to contribute most towards their burnout was internal medicine. Serious consequences of teachers’ experienced burnout have repeatedly been reported. Thus, it is important to identify teachers’ level of burnout and underlying factors. Accordingly, the current study aims to investigate the level of burnout English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers in Türkiye may feel, and if four factors (age, gender, length of teaching experience, and type of school) predict their level of burnout. To that end, a quantitative orientation was adopted. Through convenience sampling 132 EFL teachers working in different regions of Türkiye voluntarily took part in the research. They were asked to fill out Maslach’s Burnout Inventory-Educators Survey, and to provide some demographic information. Three separate scores for each participant were obtained through three subscales in the 22-item Likert-type inventory; emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal achievement. Multiple regression analysis and a full-factorial ANOVA were conducted to reveal any possible effects of the four factors on the perceived burnout of the participants. The results revealed that majority of EFL teachers experience diminished personal accomplishment at a high level. Among the four variables, age was the most reliable precursor of burnout; however, the only statistically significant interaction was with depersonalization. The results suggest that EFL teachers need to see more concrete outcomes of their professional effort to improve their sense of personal accomplishment. In addition, as teachers get older, they may be engaged in activities that help them refresh their professional enthusiasm to prevent depersonalization.

This study delves into the prevalence of burnout among performing arts students, particularly those in acting programs, compared to their counterparts in other disciplines. Initiated against a backdrop of concerns about the high burnout rates in performing arts education, the research aimed to rigorously assess burnout symptoms and their correlation with various academic and organizational factors. The study builds on existing literature that conceptualizes academic burnout as a psychological syndrome stemming from chronic stress, often related to the demands and pressures of student life. It examines factors such as emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and diminished personal achievement, alongside the impact of schedule predictability, workload, and classroom hours on student well-being. Using a sample of 48 university students from various disciplines in Cluj-Napoca, the research employed the Academic Burnout Scale by Zhang et al. (2015), complemented by questions on institutional time management. The findings indicate a significant presence of burnout among the participants, with notable differences in burnout levels between acting students and those from other majors. Surprisingly, acting students reported lower levels of burnout compared to their peers in other fields, challenging the initial hypothesis. This suggests a need for further investigation into the specific factors contributing to burnout and the development of targeted strategies to enhance student well-being across disciplines. Burnout is a current topic which many researchers are dealing with. This syndrome is most commonly considered to occur in people who are engaged in ‘helping professions’. Since speech-language pathologists belong to the helping professions, the goal of this study was to assess the extent to which burnout symptoms are present among speech-language pathologists in the Republic of Serbia. The sample of this research included 150 speech-language pathologists employed in state institutions and private centres throughout the Republic of Serbia. The assessment of burnout symptoms was performed using the Maslach Burnout Inventory – Human Services Survey (MBI-HSS), which measures three different dimensions: emotional exhaustion, depersonalisation, and personal achievement. The use of statistical procedures confirmed the majority of the research hypotheses. This population displays burnout symptoms, which are usually low (on the Depersonalisation and Personal Achievement scales) or high (Emotional Exhaustion) in degree. According to the findings of this study, while older speechlanguage pathologists report a high level of emotional exhaustion, they also report a higher level of personal achievement. Respondents with more work experience report a greater level of exhaustion. Lower levels of emotional weariness and a lower degree of personal achievement were reported by speech-language pathologists with less work experience. Satisfaction with one’s level of income was found to be the most significant predictor of burnout symptoms. Marital status and the number of children have not been associated with burnout symptoms. The study aimed to investigate the learning motivation of freshmen from a university in Northwest China, which can supply a reference for improving their learning quality and objectives. Data were collected from 800 freshmen of different majors with a learning motivation questionnaire. Differences in learning motivation between different majors, genders, regions, and students are studied. The results show that gender, seeking knowledge orientation, and material pursuit have significant effects on students’ learning motivation. The gender had a significant impact on personal achievement and the only child or not had an obvious effect on material pursuit, while other factors had no obvious difference in gender, regional, and only child or not, while other factors on the gender, regional, and whether the one-child had no obvious difference. According to the results of the research, measures to improve learning motivation are proposed. Objective To investigate the job burnout of nursing students in the late stage of internship, and provide theoretical basis and guidance for prevention of job burnout among nursing students. Methods A questionnaire survey using Maslach Burnout Inventory General Survey(MBI-GS) was conducted to 150 nursing students and 75 nurses. Results A moderate burnout level was found in dimensions of emotional exhaustion and depersonalization among nursing students, and low burnout was found in dimension of personal achievement. Higher score of depersonalization dimension and lower score of personal achievement dimension were reported in nursing students compared with those in nurses, with significant difference (P＜0. 05). Conclusion Targeted interventions should be carried out to relieve the burnout of nursing students and improve the quality of nursing practice. The problem of individual achievements in philosophical and psychological discourse is analyzed. It is noted that the issue of individual achievements is studied by philosophers of different directions within the limits of global problems of mankind. It is revealed that philosophers understand achievements simultaneously as the process of personality’s improving of himself, his actions, carried out in this process. Despite the differences in the views, philosophers determine the personality’s aspiration to achieve as his internal need. Achievements (like actions) are characterized as a means of self-expression and self-realization of the personality that he carries, based on his convictions and accumulated experience. Marking the way of perfection through achievement as necessary but complex way, philosophers argue that the personality’s desire for achievement is realized only under certain conditions. Different approaches to the definition of the essence of personality’s achievements in psychology are considered. The concepts on «the personality’s achievement in activity» and his «personal achievements» are revealed. The essential characteristics of personality’s achievements are presented; the basis of human desire for achievements – natural and social aspects; conditions that affect the personality’s aspirations to achieve are also presented. It is indicated that the personality’s aspiration to achievements and the process of transforming achievements into personal ones is necessarily accompanied with the estimation process. The assessment of achievements is carried out both by the personality and by the people around.

Introduction: Burnout syndrome is the answer to chronic, emotional and interpersonal stressors who are related to the workplace. It is characterized by mental or emotional exhaustion, a feeling of fatigue and depression with a more emphasis on psychological than physical symptoms. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of burnout syndrome among nurses at the JZU General Hospital Nišić and JZU Health Center Nikšić. Material and methods: The research is designed to the type of section study. The study included 100 nurses at the General Hospital Nikšić and the Health Center Nikšić, different of sex, age, level of education and years of work. The data was collected by the Maslach Burnout Inventory (BMI), consisting of 22 questions posed as a series of claims that are evaluated, using the Likert scale (0-6). Results: Of the total number of respondnents in 36%, there is a burnout syndrome measured by the total MBI score, compared to 64% of subjects with no burnout syndrome. With the help of MBI scale it was found that 8% of respondents have a high level of emotional exhaustion, 38% have a middle level, and the remaining 53% of nurses and technicians have a low level. Conclusion: Based of the results of this research, we can conclude that sex and age of nurses / technicians do not affect the occurrence of a professional burnout syndrome. The nurses / technicians working in primary health care in a significantly lower percentage have a mean level of depersonalization. Also, nurses / technicians with longer length of service show a low level of personal success (achievements).

The aim of this study was to compare the motivations of successful marathon finishers (n = 1,243) and inexperienced runners (control group, n = 296). A total of 1,537 runners with 380 women (24.7%) and 1,157 men (75.3%) completed the motivations of marathoners scales (MOMS) questionnaire and the relationships between general motivation categories and selected demographic (e.g., gender, age, and education) and training characteristics were analyzed. Successful marathon finishers did not differ significantly in motivations from the control group (p > 0.05). Trivial to small correlations with age, educational level, and training characteristics were observed. Female marathon finishers exceeded men on the motivational scales for weight concern, affiliation, psychological coping, life meaning, and self-esteem and they scored lower on competitive motivation (p < 0.05). There was also a significant relationship of some motivational aspects with level of education, experience and training frequency. These findings confirmed that age and gender differentiate motivations in both successful female and male marathon finishers and controls.

Burnout is characterized by three components: emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and low personal accomplishment. Burnout in health professionals results in reduced job satisfaction, decreased mental health and decreased quality of care, with rates ranging from 30-65% across medical specialties. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of burnout components and identify factors associated with these components in physicians, residents, and certified nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) in a large academic anesthesiology department. A survey consisting of the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Human Services Survey and additional demographic questions was distributed via email at 7-day intervals over 4 weeks to all anesthesia providers. Scores from individual questions on each of the three subscales were summed and sorted into low, medium, and high levels of each outcome variable. Fisher's exact chi-square tests were used for categorical data. Eighteen residents, 39 staff anesthesiologists, and 32 CRNAs comprised a total of 89 survey respondents. Rates of emotional exhaustion varied by provider types. Residents reported higher levels of emotional exhaustion than staff anesthesiologists and CRNAs. As a system, it is vital for leaders to identify those with or at risk for burnout, their risk factors, and strategies to mitigate risk. The aim of the study is to investigate if there is a relationship between levels of emotional intelligence and burnout among academicians. In this context, for the theoretical part, emotional intelligence and burnout was investigated by reviewing the literature and explaining the relationship between emotional intelligence and burnout was determined as the sub-aim of the study.Emotional intelligence of academicians will be determined as Positive Emotional Evaluation, Positive Emotional Management, and Empathetic Susceptibility dimensions by using Chan’s EI12 scale. It will be investigated if the emotional intelligence of the academicians differs according to the demographic characteristics such as their term of employment, age, gender, title, field of education. Maslach Burnout Scale was used to evaluate the burnout dimension. In this study, the burnout dimensions were determined as Emotional Exhaustion, Personal Achievement, Emotional Toughness, Emotional Softening and Depersonalization. The changes in emotional intelligence and elements of burnout were investigated using the demographic variables. During the research conducted to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and burnout, t-test, variance analysis, factor analysis, correlation and regression analyses were used to test the hypotheses. The relationship was found between emotional intelligence and burnout.

The aim of this research is to assess the burnout levels of the personnel in 25 th Winter Universiade, Erzurum 2011 Coordination Center and to comprehend whether there is any reaction to some demographic factors or not. In this research, Maslach Burnout Inventory (MTE) developed by Maslach and Jackson (1981) and translated into Turkish by Ergin (1922) was applied on 79 women and 144 men, 223 in total working for the coordination to acquire data about the burnout level. During the statistical evaluation of the acquired data, frequency analysis, descriptive statistics, independent Group t-test and single sided variance analysis (Anova) were applied. There has been no great difference among the burnout levels concerning gender, status, education and marital status.(p>0,05)
