A study of the effects of time, proximity of affected areas and professional experience on the recollection of Israeli psychotherapists' professional functioning during the Gulf War showed that all three factors affected the recollection of events and that the psychotherapists used denial as a defense mechanism to forget the difficulties during war time. Less experienced psychotherapists were more inclined than experienced psychotherapists to admit their involvement with their patients while experienced psychotherapists portrayed themselves as less anxious and more in control of themselves during the war. Closer proximity to war-affected areas also caused distortion of recollections.

A study of the advice given by mental health professionals on Israeli radio during the Persian Gulf War reveals the claims of critics regarding the quantity and quality of the advice to be baseless generalizations. The Persian Gulf War caused intensive debate among Japanese leaders over Japan's status as an economic giant vis-a-vis its international relations. Previously, Japan followed US policies in major international developments. The Japanese leadership was divided among schools of thought classified as minimalist, realist, moralist, utilitarian and bilateralist. Except for the minimalists, these factions were generally inclined to let Japan take a more active role in international affairs.

Western companies are devising new marketing strategies or reinforcing existing marketing operations to tap the growing Middle Eastern market. An increase in consumer product demand following the Persian Gulf War of 1991 resulted in the increased marketing potential of the Arab States. The attractiveness of the Gulf market is attributed to rapid population growth, a strong consumer purchasing power, and the region's high level of import trading.
