In strawberry cultivation, precise disease management is crucial for maximizing yields and reducing unnecessary fungicide use. Traditional methods for measuring leaf wetness duration (LWD), a critical factor in assessing the risk of fungal diseases such as botrytis fruit rot and anthracnose, have been reliant on sensors with known limitations in accuracy and reliability and difficulties with calibrating. To overcome these limitations, this study introduced an innovative algorithm for leaf wetness detection systems employing high-resolution imaging and deep learning technologies, including convolutional neural networks (CNNs). Implemented at the University of Florida's Plant Science Research and Education Unit (PSREU) in Citra, FL, USA, and expanded to three additional locations across Florida, USA, the system captured and analyzed images of a reference plate to accurately determine the wetness and, consequently, the LWD. The comparison of system outputs with manual observations across diverse environmental conditions demonstrated the enhanced accuracy and reliability of the artificial intelligence-driven approach. By integrating this system into the Strawberry Advisory System (SAS), this study provided an efficient solution to improve disease risk assessment and fungicide application strategies, promising significant economic benefits and sustainability advances in strawberry production. Biologicals and fungicides were evaluated for the control of grey mould in detached fruit in semi‐hydroponic strawberry cultivation. Bacillus subtilis (Serenade, Bio‐Baci, Bio‐Imune), B. amyloliquefaciens (No‐Nema), B. pumilus, B. velezensis (Bombardeiro, BTP 11–19 and BTP 135–19) were compared to the fungicide fluazinam in detached fruit assays. After treatment, fruits were inoculated with 30 μL of a 105 spores mL−1 suspension and incubated in a growth chamber. The relative risk for symptom expression in the treatments in relation to the control was estimated by survival analysis. In the field experiment, Serenade, No‐Nema, Bio‐Imune, Bombardeiro and BTP 11–19, the fungus Clonostachys rosea, procymidone, boscalid, fluazinam, pyrimethanil and cyprodinil + fludioxonil were tested. Biological products were sprayed every 7 days and fungicides at intervals of 14 days. Disease incidence (field and postharvest) and yield were evaluated. In the detached fruit assay, the fungicide fluazinam, followed by the biological products No‐Nema and Bio‐Imune, reduced the relative risk for symptom expression. In the field, cyprodinil + fludioxonil was the most efficacious at harvest. However, no differences in yield were observed. In postharvest, all fungicides in addition to C. rosea, No‐Nema and Bombardeiro reduced the incidence compared to the control during the main production peak (second), and cyprodinil + fludioxonil mixture was the most effective during the season. Summary: Demand for Florida organic strawberries has significantly increased in recent years, yet this industry is threatened by pests and pathogens that often come with transplants from out-of-state nurseries. Plant steaming has been explored as an alternative to reduce those threats in transplants. This study evaluated the yield performance of seven strawberry cultivars and their impact on nematode densities and plant vigour after steaming was applied to transplants imported from California during two growing seasons (2020-2021 and 2021-2022). The cultivars used were 'Sensation® Florida127', 'Florida Brilliance', 'Florida Radiance', 'Winterstar™ FL 05-107', 'Florida Elyana', 'Strawberry Festival' and 'Florida Beauty'. Plant steaming reduced plant vigour only 4 weeks after transplanting. Nevertheless, no negative effect was observed in total fruit yield. Differences among cultivars were observed for plant vigour, total fruit yield and abundance of root-knot nematodes. The plant vigour of each cultivar depended on the time of the year, which varied significantly throughout the season. Cultivars 'Sensation® Florida127' and 'Florida Radiance' attained the highest total yield in both seasons. There was an effect of the cropping system in the nematode community, which increased the bacterivores but drastically reduced omnivores and ring nematodes over time. No effect of cultivar was observed in plant-parasitic nematode populations. The cultivar 'Winterstar™ FL 05-107' was an exception since Meloidogyne javanica population densities were significantly higher in 'Winterstar™ FL 05-107's experimental plots.
