Nuclear proliferation marker MIB-1 (Ki-67) immunohistochemistry (IHC) is used to examine tumor cell proliferation. However, the diagnostic or prognostic value of the Ki-67 nuclear staining intensity and location, defined as nuclear gradient (NG), has not been assessed. This study examined the potential association between Ki-67 NG and cell cycle phases and its effect on the prognosis of pulmonary typical carcinoid (PTC) tumors. We propose a method for classifying the NG of Ki-67 during the cell cycle and compare the results between PTC, pulmonary adenocarcinoma (PAD), and breast ductal carcinoma (BDC). A literature review and objective analysis of IHC-stained paraffin sections were used to determine the Ki-67 labeling index and composed a stratification of the NG into NG1, NG2, and NG3/4 categories. A semi-automated image analysis protocol was established to determine the Ki-67 NG in PTC, PAD, and BDC. High intraobserver consistency and moderate interobserver agreement were achieved in the determination of Ki-67 NG in tumor specimens. NG1 and NG2 were lower in PTC than in PAD and BDC. Cox multivariate analysis of PTC after adjusting for age and number of metastatic lymph nodes showed that Ki-67 NG1 and NG2 significantly predicted clinical outcomes. The semi-automated method for quantification of Ki-67 nuclear immunostaining proposed in this study could become a valuable diagnostic and prognostic tool in PTC.

Objective: To analyze the temporal evolution of anemia in children aged six to 59 months in Pernambuco, based on population surveys from 1997, 2006, and 2016 and the factors associated with the situation in 2016., Methods: The field studies took place in the participants' households, in the Recife Metropolitan Area, as well as in the urban and rural inland. The trend study of anemia in children used data from the State Health and Nutrition Survey (Pesquisa Estadual de Saúde e Nutrição - PESN) II (40.9%) and III (32.8%). Data from PESN IV were collected using questionnaires administered to families to verify socioeconomic and individual conditions, as well as anthropometric - weight and height - and biochemical - hemoglobin - records. We adopted the test for trend in proportion for the time trend study and Poisson regression for hypothesis tests for the associated factors. Statistically significance was set at a p-value<0.05., Results: In 2016, the prevalence of anemia was 24.2%, indicating a significant reduction in disease incidence. In children aged 6-23 months, this number decreased from PENS II and III to PENS IV - 63 and 55.6 to 37.7% (p<0.001), respectively. In 2016, the statistically significant variables for anemia in children were maternal hemoglobin, child's age, current or recent case of diarrhea, and weight-for-age index., Conclusion: Between 1997 and 2016, anemia rates decreased, showing an epidemiological trend that can contribute to continuously improve the health of children under five years of age in Pernambuco.

Purpose: To evaluate factors related to the length of hospital stay and costs in patients undergoing local multimodal anesthetic solution compared to neuraxial block, both in association with general anesthesia., Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study of 77 consecutive patients submitted to open radical prostatectomies: 42 under general anesthesia plus neuraxial block, and 35 under enhanced recovery multimodal general anesthesia associated with preemptive target anesthetic solution (3 phases-P.T.A.S). Mann-Whitney, Chi-square, and Spearman correlation were applied with a 5% significance level., Results: There were no statistically significant differences between the two groups. The cost was positively and significantly related to the pathological report (PR), anesthetic time, use of crystalloid, and total drain volume. Length of hospital stay was positively and significantly related to the use of crystalloids and total drain volume, with a strong correlation with the latter., Conclusion: There was no statistically significant difference between the studied groups; however, there was a tendency to reduce the length of stay in the multimodal anesthetic solution group that may be better evidenced in studies with greater sampling power., Competing Interests: None., (IJPPP Copyright © 2021.)

Objective: To unveil the content of comments in official posts calling from the Ministry of Helth, calling for health professionals to confront COVID-19., Method: Qualitative study, carried out with 2823 comments, obtained from the virtual access to the Ministry of Health's social networks on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. For textual corpus processing, used or software Interface R analyzes Multidimensional Texts and Questionnaires and performs a multivariate analysis by Descending Hierarchical Classification., Results: Five categories were included: "difficulties in the training stages", "aspects involved in the summons", "working conditions without facing the pandemic", "mandatory capacity x possible summons", "visibility and valorization of dentistry in combating the pandemic" COVID-19"., Conclusion: Comments contemplated professionals or access to training, remuneration and working conditions, mandatory training, possibility of calling for action on the front line without fighting COVID-19 and claiming greater appreciation of dentistry.

Objective: to analyze YouTube videos with information about COVID-19 in Brazilian sign language., Methods: a cross-sectional study conducted with 402 videos from the YouTube sharing platform. Chi-square, Fisher's exact, Mann-Whitney and Spearman's correlation tests were used., Results: the videos mainly covered COVID-19 prevention (20.6%). There was a positive correlation between video length and number of views (p<0.001). The length of more than 20 minutes was associated with narration only in BSL (p=0.37) and in BSL with audio (p<0.001), while videos with less than 20 minutes were associated with simultaneous narration in BSL, audio and subtitles. Those with narration only in BSL had a similar number of views to those narrated with subtitles and/or audio (p=0.998)., Conclusion: the videos were mostly short and included COVID-19 prevention. The longer the video, the greater the number of views. Regardless the presentation of narrations, the videos had a similar number of views.
