Neutron-diffraction techniques have been used to study the magnetic ordering of the Nd ions in semiconducting Nd2CuO4 and superconducting Nd1.85Ce0.15CuO4. For the Ce-doped system a sharp transition to long-range antiferromagnetic order occurs at TN1.2 K, with a simple magnetic unit cell which is double the chemical unit cell along the a and b directions. The same magnetic structure is observed in the parent system Nd2CuO4, in which the Cu spins are also ordered magnetically, but strong coupling between the Nd and Cu sublattices is indicated. © 1990 The American Physical Society.

5. Evidence of apical oxygen in Nd2CuOy determined by single-crystal neutron diffraction

- Abstract
The defect structure of oxygenated and reduced Nd2CuOy (y4) was investigated by single-crystal neutron diffraction. Structural refinements indicate the presence of interstitial oxygen atoms in the apical O(3) position, directly above or below the copper atoms. The occupancy of the apical oxygen site is ∼0.10 (per formula unit) for the oxygenated sample and ∼0.04 for the reduced one. Both the in-plane O(1) and the out-of-plane O(2) oxygen sites were found to be deficient, but their occupancy did not vary, within the error bars, between the two crystals. The difference in oxygen content between the two crystals, as calculated from the structural refinements, is consistent, within the error bars, with the thermogravimetric analysis values reported in the literature. © 1994 The American Physical Society.

Mutation in ZIC3 (OMIM #306955), a zinc finger transcription factor, causes heterotaxy (situs ambiguus) or isolated congenital heart defects in humans. Mice bearing a null mutation in Zic3 have left-right patterning defects with associated cardiovascular, vertebra/rib, and central nervous system malformations. Although XZic3 is thought to play a critical role in Xenopus neural crest development, no defects in tissues derived from neural crest are apparent in adult Zic3(null) mice. In this study we have characterized the effect of a PGK-neo cassette insertion 5' of the Zic3 locus. The Zic3 transcript in this new allele is up-regulated in ES cells and in E9.0 embryos, but no ectopic expression was detected. Unlike the Zic3(null) mutation in which only 20% of mutant animals survive to adulthood, there was no evidence of excess fetal death caused by the Zic3(neo) allele. Zic3(neo) mutant mice exhibited hemifacial microsomia, asymmetric low set ears, axial skeletal defects, kyphosis and scoliosis; a combination of defects which mimics Goldenhar Syndrome. Some Zic3(neo) mice had evidence of left-right axis patterning defects, but cardiac malformation was much less common than in the Zic3(null) mutants. A six-week old hemizygous mouse was found to have thoraco-cervical ectopia cordis, an extremely rare congenital malformation in humans and for which there is no precedent in a mouse model.

7. Magnetoresistance of the metallic perovskite oxide LaNiO3-delta

We report a study of the magnetoresistance (MR) of the metallic perovskite oxide LaNiO3-delta as a function of the oxygen stoichiometry delta (delta less than or equal to 0.14), magnetic field (H less than or equal to 6 T) and temperature (1.5 K less than or equal to T less than or equal to 25 K). We find a strong dependence of the nature of the MR on the oxygen stoichiometry. The MR at low temperatures changes from positive to negative as the sample becomes more oxygen deficient (i.e. delta increases). Some of the samples, which are more resistive, show resistivity minima at T-min approximate to 20 K. We find that in these samples the MR is positive for T > T-min and negative for T < T-min. We conclude that in the absence of strong magnetic interaction, the negative MR in these oxides can arise from weak-localization effects.

We report a systematic study of the electronic transport properties of the metallic perovskite oxide LaNiO3-delta as a function of the oxygen stoichiometry delta (delta less than or equal to 0.14). The electrical resistivity, magnetoresistance, susceptibility, Hall effect and thermopower have been studied, All of the transport coefficients are dependent on the value of delta. The resistivity increases almost exponentially as delta increases. We relate this increase in rho to the creation of Ni2+ with square-planar coordination. We find that there is a distinct T-1.5-contribution to the resistivity over the whole temperature range. The thermopower is negative, as expected for systems with electrons as the carrier, but the Hall coefficient is positive. We have given a qualitative and quantitative explanation for the different quantities observed and their systematic variation with the stoichiometry delta.

9. Lake level and climate changes between 42,000 and 18,000 C-14 yr BP in the Tengger Desert, Northwestern China

- Abstract
Multiple lines of stratigraphic, geochemical, and fossil data suggest that fresh-mesohaline paleolakes were widespread in the Tengger Desert of northwestern China and underwent major fluctuations during the late Pleistocene. The paleolakes started to develop at ca. 42,000 C-14 yr B.P. The lake levels were the highest between 35,000 and 22,000 C-14 yr B.P., during which Megalake Tengger dominated the landscape. The climatic conditions at this time were unique for this area and have no modem analogue. After an episode of decline between 22,000 and 20,000 C-14 yr B.P. and an episode of rebound between 20,000 and 18,600 C-14 yr B.P., the paleolakes started to desiccate and completely disappeared around 18,000 C-14 yr B.P. The environmental proxy data indicate that the Megalake Tengger formed under warm-humid climates. The reconstructed climatic variations appear to be correlative with the abrupt climatic events reconstructed for the North Atlantic. (C) 2002 University of Washington.

10. Diamond nanocrystals formed by direct implantation of fused silica with carbon

- Abstract
We report synthesis of diamond nanocrystals directly from carbon atoms embedded into fused silica by ion implantation followed by thermal annealing. The production of the diamond nanocrystals and other carbon phases is investigated as a function of ion dose, annealing time, and annealing environment. We observe that the diamond nanocrystals are formed only when the samples are annealed in forming gas (4% H in Ar). Transmission electron microscopy studies show that the nanocrystals range in size from 5 to 40 nm, depending on dose, and are embedded at a depth of only 140 nm below the implanted surface, whereas the original implantation depth was 1450 nm. The bonding in these nanocrystals depends strongly on cluster size, with the smaller clusters predominantly aggregating into cubic diamond structure. The larger clusters, on the other hand, consist of other forms of carbon such as i-carbon and n-diamond and tend to be more defective. This leads to a model for the formation of these clusters which is based on the size dependent stability of the hydrogen-terminated diamond phase compared to other forms of carbon. Additional studies using visible and ultraviolet Raman Spectroscopy, optical absorption, and electron energy loss spectroscopy reveal that most samples contain a mixture of sp2 and sp3 hybridized carbon phases.

12. Diels-Alder Reaction Mechanisms of La@C 60 and Gd@C 60 Studied Using Density Functional Theory.

- Abstract
Encapsulation of transition metals represents a crucial method for modifying the electronic structure and regulating the reactivity of fullerene, thereby expanding its applications. Herein, we present calculations with density functional theory methods to investigate the mechanisms of the Diels-Alder (DA) reactions of cyclopentadiene and La@C
60 or Gd@C60 as well as their tricationic derivatives. Our findings indicate that the encapsulation of La and Gd into the C60 cage is thermodynamically favorable. The DA reactions are favored by the presence of La and Gd, with lower barriers, though the regioselectivity, favoring 6-6 bonds in the fullerene, is not affected. - Abstract
Background: This study aimed to analyze the epidemic characteristics and influencing factors of school influenza outbreaks in Jiangsu Province, China from 2020 to 2023,following the COVID-19 pandemic, to inform prevention and control strategies., Methods: Data on influenza-like illness(ILI) outbreaks from the Chinese Influenza Surveillance Information System and national-level influenza surveillance sentinel hospitals were analyzed. The temporal distribution, school type, virus strains, and outbreak scales were examined using descriptive statistics., Results: From 2020 to 2023, 1142 influenza outbreaks occurred in schools, with primary schools(ages 6 to 12) accounting for 71.80%. Most large outbreaks were caused by A(H1N1) and A(H3N2), responsible for 8.99% of total outbreaks. Outbreaks were predominantly reported in the pre-peak periods of B(Victoria) and A(H1N1) circulation, accounting for 86.31% and 92.32% of their respective total outbreaks. No concurrent influenza and COVID-19 outbreaks were observed during the study period., Conclusion: Primary and secondary schools are high-risk settings for influenza outbreaks. A(H3N2) shows higher adaptability and is more likely to co-circulate with other subtypes/lineages, especially A(H1N1), leading to larger outbreaks. B(Victoria)-caused outbreaks are more frequent but smaller in scale. School influenza outbreaks are more likely to occur during the early stages of seasonal peaks, particularly for B(Victoria) and A(H1N1). This suggests that influenza outbreaks in schools may play a crucial role in seeding and accelerating the spread of the virus within the broader community., (© 2024. The Author(s).)

- Abstract
Objective: To investigate the safety and efficacy of a varicose vein sealant kit in the treatment of great saphenous vein dysfunction. Methods: It was a randomized controlled trial. A total of 180 patients with great saphenous vein dysfunction were enrolled prospectively, and scheduled for surgical treatment in 9 hospitals, including the Second Affiliated Hospital of Naval Medical University, Shanghai Oriental Hospital Affiliated to Tongji University, Xuanwu Hospital Capital Medical University, the First Hospital of Hebei Medical University, Ganzhou People's Hospital, Shanxi Bethune Hospital, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, and Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Xiamen University, from June to October 2022. Using a random number table method, the subjects were divided into an experimental group and a control group, with 90 cases in each group. The patients of experimental group received treatment with varicose vein sealant kit, while the patients of control group received radiofrequency ablation. The main outcome measure was the complete closure rate of the great saphenous vein in both groups of patients 3 months after surgery. The secondary outcome measures were the complete closure rate of the great saphenous vein in both groups of patients immediately after surgery and 6 months after surgery, the operation time for closing the main trunk of the great saphenous vein, pain score, venous clinical severity score (VCSS), Aberdeen varicose veins questionnaire (AVVQ) at different times before and after surgery, and the incidence of complications in both groups of patients. The non inferiority threshold for the two treatment methods is set at "-10.00%". Results: A total of 177 patients were ultimately enrolled. There were 89 cases in the experimental group, including 38 males and 51 females, with a median age [ M ( Q
1 , Q3 )] of 59.7(49.6, 66.7) years, and 88 cases in the control group, including 30 males and 58 females, with a median age of 57.2(46.9, 65.9) years. A total of 174 patients completed a 3-month follow-up, and 167 patients completed a 6-month follow-up. The closure time of the main saphenous vein in the experimental group was (22.1±11.1) min, which was longer than the control group, which was (18.7±9.8) min ( P =0.031). The complete closure rate of the great saphenous vein immediately after surgery in both the experimental group and the control group was 100%. The complete closure rates of the great saphenous vein at 3 months after surgery were 98.8% (85/86) and 98.9% (87/88), respectively. The lower limit of the 95% CI for the difference between the two groups was -3.19%, which was greater than the non-inferiority threshold of -10.00% (non-inferiority P <0.001). The complete closure rates of the great saphenous vein at 6 months after surgery were 97.6% (81/83) and 100% (84/84), the lower limit of the 95% CI for the difference between the two groups was -5.71%, which was greater than the non-inferiority threshold of -10.00% (non-inferiority P <0.001). The immediate pain scores after complete anesthesia awakening of the experimental group and the control group were both 1.0 (0, 2.0), with no statistically significant difference ( P =0.365). The incidence of bruising in the experimental group and the control group one week after surgery was 61.2% (52/85) and 67.1% (57/85), respectively, with no statistically significant difference ( P =0.181). There was no statistically significant difference in VCSS and AVVQ scores between groups before surgery and at 1, 3, and 6 months after surgery (all P >0.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of complications such as deep vein thrombosis, phlebitis, pain, and subcutaneous hematoma in the lower limbs 3 months after surgery (all P >0.05). Conclusion: The varicose vein sealant kit is safe and effective in treating great saphenous vein dysfunction, and can achieve a complete closure rate of great saphenous vein that is not inferior to traditional radiofrequency ablation.- Published

Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most prevalent joint disease in the elderly population and its substantial morbidity and disability impose a heavy economic burden on patients and society. Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is the most common subtype of OA, which is characterized by damage to progressive articular cartilage, synovitis, and subchondral bone sclerosis. Most current treatments for OA are palliative, primarily aim at symptom management, and do not prevent the progression of the disease or restore degraded cartilage. The activation of α-granules in platelets releases various growth factors that are involved in multiple stages of tissue repair, suggesting potential for disease modification. In recent years, platelet-based therapies, such as platelet-rich plasma, platelet-rich fibrin, and platelet lysates, have emerged as promising regenerative treatments for KOA, but their related effects and mechanisms are still unclear. Therefore, this review aims to summarize the biological characteristics and functions of platelets, classify the products of platelet-based therapy and related preparation methods. Moreover, we summarize the basic research of platelet-based regeneration strategies for KOA and discuss the cellular effects and molecular mechanisms. 16. Analysis of occurrences and causes of abnormal liver function in 109 patients with COVID-19.

- Abstract
Context: COVID-19 is a novel coronavirus pneumonia, which is related to abnormal liver function. Thus, it is important to explore the occurrences and causes of abnormal liver function with COVID-19., Methods: We chose 109 patients with COVID-19 in 2020 and studied the relationship between gender, age, basic diseases, antiviral drug treatment, disease classification, and abnormal liver function, and analyzed the causes of abnormal liver function in patients with COVID-19., Results: Among patients, 46 (42.20%) had abnormal liver function at admission; 37 (80.43%) had mild abnormal liver function; and 9 (19.57%) had severe liver function. Compared with other age groups, the abnormal rate of serum ALP in the group younger than 21 years old were the highest ( P < 0.05). The abnormal rates and concentrations of serum ALT, AST and γ-GT in the male groups were higher than in female groups ( P < 0.05), basic disease group were higher than those in the non-basic disease group ( P < 0.05). Serum γ-GT concentration after 1 week of antiviral treatment was higher than that before treatment ( P < 0.05). The abnormal rate of ALT and AST at discharge was lower than that after antiviral treatment for 1 week ( P < 0.05). Serum TB and AST concentrations at discharge were lower than those before treatment ( P < 0.05). Serum AST and γ-GT concentrations in severe/critical type group were higher than those in mild or ordinary type group ( P < 0.05)., Conclusions: In this study, we found male sex, basic diseases, antiviral drugs, and severe/critical types are related to the occurrence of abnormal liver function in COVID-19 patients., Competing Interests: There are no conflicts of interest., (Copyright: © 2024 Journal of Family Medicine and Primary Care.)

- Abstract
A common life-threatening hereditary disease, Cystic Fibrosis (CF), affects primarily Caucasian infants. High sweat-salt levels are observed as a result of a single autosomal mutation in chromosome 7 that affects the critical function of the cystic fibrosis transmembrane regulator (CFTR). For establishing tailored treatment strategies, it is important to understand the broad range of CFTR mutations and their impacts on disease pathophysiology. This study thoroughly investigates the six main classes of classification of CFTR mutations based on their functional effects. Each class is distinguished by distinct molecular flaws, such as poor protein synthesis, misfolding, gating defects, conduction defects, and decreased CFTR expression at the apical membrane. Furthermore, this paper focuses on the emerging field of CFTR modulators, which intend to restore CFTR function or mitigate its consequences. These modulators, which are characterized by the mode of action and targeted mutation class, have the potential to provide personalized therapy regimens in CF patients. This review provides valuable insights into the genetic basis of CF pathology, and highlights the potential for precision medicine methods in CF therapy by thoroughly investigating CFTR mutation classification and related modulators.

19. Clinical and economic comparison of laparoscopic versus open hepatectomy for primary hepatolithiasis: a propensity score-matched cohort study.

Background: It is unclear whether laparoscopic hepatectomy (LH) for hepatolithiasis confers better clinical benefit and lower hospital costs than open hepatectomy (OH). This study aim to evaluate the clinical and economic value of LH versus OH., Methods: Patients undergoing OH or LH for primary hepatolithiasis at Yijishan Hospital of Wannan Medical College between 2015 and 2022 were divided into OH group and LH group. Propensity score matching (PSM) was used to balance the baseline data. Deviation-based cost modelling and weighted average median cost (WAMC) were used to assess and compare the economic value., Results: A total of 853 patients were identified. After exclusions, 403 patients with primary hepatolithiasis underwent anatomical hepatectomy (OH n=143; LH n=260). PSM resulted in 2 groups of 100 patients each. Although LH required a longer median operation duration compared with OH (285.0 versus 240.0 min, respectively, P<0.001), LH patients had fewer wound infections, fewer pre-discharge overall complications (26 versus 43%, respectively, P=0.009), and shorter median postoperative hospital stays (8.0 versus 12.0 days, respectively, P<0.001). No differences were found in blood loss, major complications, stone clearance, and mortality between the two matched groups. However, the median overall hospital cost of LH was significantly higher than that of OH (CNY¥52,196.1 versus 45,349.5, respectively, P=0.007). Although LH patients had shorter median postoperative hospital stays and fewer complications than OH patients, the WAMC was still higher for the LH group than for the OH group with an increase of CNY¥9,755.2 per patient undergoing LH., Conclusion: The overall clinical benefit of LH for hepatolithiasis is comparable or even superior to that of OH, but with an economic disadvantage. Motivation-driven mating is a basic affair for the maintenance of species. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms that control mating motivation are not fully understood. Here, we report that NRG1-ErbB4 signaling in the medial amygdala (MeA) is pivotal in regulating mating motivation. NRG1 expression in the MeA negatively correlates with the mating motivation levels in adult male mice. Local injection and knockdown of MeA NRG1 reduce and promote mating motivation, respectively. Consistently, knockdown of MeA ErbB4, a major receptor for NRG1, and genetic inactivation of its kinase both promote mating motivation. ErbB4 deletion decreases neuronal excitability, whereas chemogenetic manipulations of ErbB4-positive neuronal activities bidirectionally modulate mating motivation. We also identify that the effects of NRG1-ErbB4 signaling on neuronal excitability and mating motivation rely on hyperpolarization-activated cyclic nucleotide-gated channel 3. Revealing the in-depth structure-property relationship and designing specific capacity electrodes are particularly important for supercapacitors. Despite many efforts made to tune the composition and electronic structure of cobalt oxide for pseudocapacitance, insight into the [CoO]
6 octahedron from the microstructure is still insufficient. Herein, we present a tunable [CoO]6 octahedron microstructure in LiCoO2 by a chemical delithiation process. The c-strained strain of the [CoO]6 octahedron is induced to form higher valence Co ions, and the (003) crystalline layer spacing increases to allow more rapid participation of OH- in the redox reaction. Interestingly, the specific capacity of L0.75 CO2 is nearly four times higher than that of LiCoO2 at 10 mA g-1 . The enhanced activity originated from the asymmetric strain [CoO]6 octahedra, resulting in enhanced electronic conductivity and Co-O hybridization for accelerated redox kinetics. Hypoxia-inducible factor 1α (HIF-1α) triggers tumorigenesis and progression in hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Inconsistent findings have been reported on the influence of HIF-1α over-expression on the clinical outcomes of HBV-related HCC. This study aims to clarify the role of HIF-1α overexpression in the tumorigenesis and prognosis of HBV-induced HCC. Systematic and comprehensive search of online papers was carried out to elucidate the contribution of HIF-1α expression to susceptibility of HBV-induced HCC. STATA 12.0 software was utilized to analyze available data extracted from all eligible literature. Publication bias and sensitivity were comprehensively analyzed. A total of 23 published studies involving 2244 subjects were finally screened. The HIF-1α expression was remarkably upregulated in HBV-induced HCC tissues than in normal liver tissues, non-tumorous tissues, paraneoplastic tissues, and non-HBV HCC tissues. The high HIF-1α expression tended to be positively related to capsular infiltration (odds ratio (OR) 1.767; 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.058, 2.950). The HIF-1α expression was relevant to lymph node metastasis (OR 3.778; 95% CI 1.666, 8.568). High levels of HIF-1α expression tended to be closely implicated in portal vein invasion (OR 6.728, 95% CI 2.191, 20.656) but were irrelevant to alpha-fetoprotein, cirrhosis, Edmondson grading, tumor size, age, gender, and histological grade. Analysis of pooled data showed that HIF-1α was not statistically relevant to poor overall survival in HBV-related HCC. 23. Comprehensive factor analysis and risk quantification study of fall from height accidents.

Working at heights poses frequent and significant risks, demanding scientific approaches for investigating fall-from-height (FFH) incidents and proposing preventive measures to enhance building safety. Nevertheless, ongoing research on analyzing the causal factors behind fall-from-height accidents lacks a comprehensive qualitative and quantitative assessment of the interplay between these factors. To bridge this gap, this study introduces an integrated risk analysis model. Utilizing incident reports and leveraging the multi-case rootedness theory, the model initially identifies influential elements. Subsequently, employing the Grey Decision Making Laboratory (Grey-DEMATEL) and Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) techniques, a hierarchical network is constructed, followed by the transformation of this hierarchical network model into a Bayesian Network (BN) model using GeNie2.0 software. Ultimately, the study was based on data from 420 accident cases and analyzed the causes and diagnosis of the accidents. The findings indicate that A5 (Low-security awareness) is the most significant factor contributing to falls from great heights and that the connection between the components is dynamic and non-linear rather than simply independent and linear. Furthermore, the study established a likelihood of occurrence of such incidents of up to 57 % and ranked the probability of occurrence of each contributing component in the case of a fall from height. This study presents a scientifically valid method for analyzing fall-from-height accidents. Experimental results confirm the model's applicability, empowering contractors to improve safety management by accessing precise risk information and prioritizing preventive measures against interrelated accidents. 24. Multi-skill resource-constrained multi-modal project scheduling problem based on hybrid quantum algorithm.

- Abstract
Numerous studies on project scheduling only consider a single factor, which fails to reflect the actual environment of project operations. In light of this issue, the article synthesizes multiple perspectives and proposes a multi-skill resource-based multi-modal project scheduling problem (MRCMPSP). This problem is described, modeled, and solved using the resource capability matrix and other constraints to minimize the project duration. To effectively solve MRCMPSP and enrich scheduling algorithms, the paper selects the hybrid quantum algorithm (HQPSO) based on the quantum particle swarm algorithm (QPSO). The HQPSO introduces various improvements such as the JAYA optimization search to improve the algorithm's performance. In order to verify the generality, superiority, and effectiveness of the algorithm, independent operation comparison experiments and practical application experiments of the algorithm are designed based on different case sizes and resource quantities. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm has superior convergence performance and solution accuracy and can provide an effective scheduling solution for real cases. Additionally, the article provides targeted management suggestions based on the research findings. - Abstract
Introduction: Robotic-assisted gait training (RAGT) has been reported to be effective in rehabilitating patients with spinal cord injury (SCI). However, studies on RAGT showed different results due to a varied number of samples. Thus, summarising studies based on robotic-related factors is critical for the accurate estimation of the effects of RAGT on SCI. This work aims to search for strong evidence showing that using RAGT is effective in treating SCI and analyse the deficiencies of current studies., Methods and Analysis: The following publication databases were electronically searched in December 2022 without restrictions on publication year: MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Embase, PubMed, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials and China National Knowledge Infrastructure. Various combinations of keywords, including 'motor disorders', 'robotics', 'robotic-assisted gait training', 'Spinal Cord Injuries', 'SCI' and 'gait analysis' were used as search terms. All articles on randomised controlled trials (excluding retrospective trials) using RAGT to treat SCI that were published in English and Chinese and met the inclusion criteria were included. Outcomes included motor function, and gait parameters included those assessed by using the instrumented gait assessment, the Berg Balance Scale, the 10-m walk speed test, the 6-min walk endurance test, the functional ambulation category scale, the Walking index of SCI and the American Spinal Injury Association assessment scale. Research selection, data extraction and quality assessment were conducted independently by two reviewers to ensure that all relevant studies were free from personal bias. In addition, the Cochrane risk-of-bias assessment tool was used to assess the risk of bias. As a new-generation photoelectric material, perovskites have attracted researchers' attention due to their excellent optoelectronic properties. However, the existence of defects inevitably causes structural degradation and restricts their performance, which need to be further improved by post-treatment. At present, post-treatments mostly focus on non-contact treatments, which may constrain the effect since the influence on the perovskites caused by the direct contact is much more straightly. Therefore, we proposed an annealing strategy of straight manipulation in a solvent atmosphere with the assistance of polyimide (PI) tape for the perovskite post-treatment, due to the high heat resistance and less glue residual of this tape. It casts an influence on the perovskite directly, proving the possibility of the straight manipulation by operators, promoting the recrystallization of the perovskite grains and removing the impurity substance. The optimized Pb-free perovskite film exhibits a better X-ray sensitivity of 7.5 × 10
4 μC Gyair -1 cm-2 and a great detection limit of 47 nGyair s-1 , which is comparable to advanced Pb-based perovskite X-ray detectors and all commercial ones. The new annealing strategy provides a facile, effective, and simple method to improve the perovskite quality, exhibiting the potential and harmlessness of the direct contact post-treatment, which paves the way for a broader application of perovskites.- Published

Despite the abnormal expression of 18S rRNA m6A methyltransferase METTL5 being reported in some types of human malignancies, but its effect on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains to be unclear. This study aims to elucidate the influences of METTL5 on the carcinogenesis and progression of HCC. Expressions of METTL5 gene, transcript, protein, and promoter methylation in HCC were examined through multiple databases, c-BioPortal was used to confirm the genomic alterations of METTL5, the biological functions, target networks of kinases and microRNAs of METTL5, and its interactive differential genes were investigated through LinkedOmics. The possible correlation of METTL5 with the tumor-related infiltration of immune cells for HCC were explored comprehensively by using the online tools of TIMER and TISIDB. Expressions of METTL5 gene, mRNA, and protein were considerably overexpressed in HCC samples in comparison with healthy samples. The high methylation of the METTL5 promoter was observed in HCC tissues. Elevated METTL5 expression exhibited unfavorable survival outcomes in HCC patients. METTL5 expression were enriched in the signaling pathways of ribosome and oxidative phosphorylation, mismatch repair, and spliceosome through the involvement of several cancer-related kinases and miRNAs. The METTL5 expression has a positive correlation with the infiltration degree of B cells, CD8+ T cells, CD4+ T cells, macrophages, neutrophils, and dendritic cells in HCC. Marker genes of tumor immune-infiltrated cells have strong connection with METTL5. Furthermore, the upregulation of METTL5 was strongly correlated with the immune regulation of immunomodulators, chemokines, and chemokine receptors in the immune microenvironment. The oncogenesis and development of HCC are closely related to METTL5 expression, and the overexpression of METTL5 resulted in the poor survival outcome of HCC patients by regulating tumor immune microenvironment., (© 2023. Background: Venous access devices commonly used in clinical practice for long-term chemotherapy of breast cancer include central venous catheters (CVCs), peripherally inserted central venous catheters (PICCs), and implantable venous access ports (IVAPs). CVCs and PICCs are less costly to place but have a higher complication rate than IVAPs. However, there is a lack of cost-utility comparisons among the three devices. The aim of this study was to assess the cost-effectiveness of three catheters for long-term chemotherapy in breast cancer patients., Methods: This study used propensity score matching (PSM) to establish a retrospective cohort. Decision tree models were used to compare the cost-effectiveness of three different intravenous lines in breast cancer chemotherapy patients. Cost parameters were derived from data extracted from the outpatient and inpatient charging systems, and total costs included costs of placement, maintenance, extraction, and handling of complications; utility parameters were derived from previous cross-sectional survey results of the research group; and complication rates were derived from breast cancer catheterization patient information as well as follow-up information. Quality-adjusted life years (QALYs) were measured for efficacy outcomes. Incremental cost-effectiveness ratios (ICERs) were used to compare the three strategies. To assess uncertainty in model parameters, sensitivity analyses (univariate sensitivity analysis and probabilistic sensitivity analysis) were performed., Results: A total of 10,718 patients (3780 after propensity score matching) were included. IVAPs had the smallest cost-utility ratio, and PICCs had the largest cost-utility ratio when left in place for more than 12 months. The incremental cost-utility ratio of PICC to CVC was $2375.08/QALY, IVAP to PICC was $522.01/QALY, and IVAP to CVC was $612.98/QALY. Incremental cost-effectiveness ratios showed that IVAPs were more effective than CVCs and PICCs. Model regression analysis showed that the IVAP was recommended as the best regimen regardless of the catheter indwelling time (6 months, 12 months or more than 12 months). The reliability and stability of the model were verified by single-factor sensitivity analysis and Monte Carlo simulation (probabilistic sensitivity analysis)., Conclusion: This study provides economic evidence for the selection of vascular access in breast cancer chemotherapy patients. This study aimed to formulate reliable nomograms for predicting the outcomes of α-fetoprotein (AFP)-negative hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients after chemotherapy. HCC patients with normal AFP expression who received chemotherapy were screened and evaluated from the surveillance, epidemiology, and end results database. The prognostic factors for predicting outcomes of HCC patients undergoing chemotherapy were chosen by analyzing the results of Cox analyses. Then, a nomogram integrating the prognostic factors was established. The discrimination ability of the nomogram was evaluated with computation of area under the curve (AUC) and calibration curve. A total of 2424 patients with AFP-negative HCC undergoing chemotherapy were identified. The median overall survival (OS) for HCC patients undergoing chemotherapy was 33 months. Age, race, pathologic grade, N stage, M stage, surgery, and lung metastases were significantly linked to OS. These relevant factors were incorporated into the nomogram. AUC values of the prognostic nomogram for 3- and 5-year OS were 0.696 and 0.706 in the training groups, which were superior to those of the tumor node metastasis (TNM) stage (0.641 and 0.671) in training groups. The calibration curves indicated a high consistency between the predicted probability of nomograms and the actual observation. The validation groups produced AUC values of 0.674 and 0.736 for 3- and 5-year OS, which were superior to those of the TNM stage (0.601 and 0.637) in validation groups. The results revealed significantly unfavorable OS in the high-risk group (P < .001). African swine fever virus (ASFV) is a large DNA virus that causes African swine fever (ASF), an acute and hemorrhagic disease in pigs with lethality rates of up to 100%. To date, how ASFV efficiently suppress the innate immune response remains enigmatic. In this study, we identified ASFV cysteine protease pS273R as an antagonist of type I interferon (IFN). Overexpression of pS273R inhibited JAK-STAT signaling triggered by type I IFNs. Mechanistically, pS273R interacted with STAT2 and recruited the E3 ubiquitin ligase DCST1, resulting in K48-linked polyubiquitination at K55 of STAT2 and subsequent proteasome-dependent degradation of STAT2. Furthermore, such a function of pS273R in JAK-STAT signaling is not dependent on its protease activity. These findings suggest that ASFV pS273R is important to evade host innate immunity. IMPORTANCE ASF is an acute disease in domestic pigs caused by infection with ASFV. ASF has become a global threat with devastating economic and ecological consequences. To date, there are no commercially available, safe, and efficacious vaccines to prevent ASFV infection. ASFV has evolved a series of strategies to evade host immune responses, facilitating its replication and transmission. Therefore, understanding the immune evasion mechanism of ASFV is helpful for the development of prevention and control measures for ASF. Here, we identified ASFV cysteine protease pS273R as an antagonist of type I IFNs. ASFV pS273R interacted with STAT2 and mediated degradation of STAT2, a transcription factor downstream of type I IFNs that is responsible for induction of various IFN-stimulated genes. pS273R recruited the E3 ubiquitin ligase DCST1 to enhance K48-linked polyubiquitination of STAT2 at K55 in a manner independent of its protease activity. These findings suggest that pS273R is important for ASFV to escape host innate immunity, which sheds new light on the mechanisms of ASFV immune evasion.

VemR is a response regulator of the two-component signalling systems (TCSs). It consists solely of a receiver domain. Previous studies have shown that VemR plays an important role in influencing the production of exopolysaccharides and exoenzymes, cell motility, and virulence of Xanthomonas campestris pv. campestris (Xcc). However, whether VemR is involved in the essential pathogenicity determinant type III secretion system (T3SS) is unclear. In this work, we found by transcriptome analysis that VemR modulates about 10% of Xcc genes, which are involved in various cellular processes including the T3SS. Further experiments revealed that VemR physically interacts with numerous proteins, including the TCS sensor kinases HpaS and RavA, and the TCS response regulator HrpG, which directly activates the transcription of HrpX, a key regulator controlling T3SS expression. It has been demonstrated previously that HpaS composes a TCS with HrpG or VemR to control the expression of T3SS or swimming motility, while RavA and VemR form a TCS to control the expression of flagellar genes. Mutation analysis and in vitro transcription assay revealed that phosphorylation might be essential for the function of VemR and phosphorylated VemR could significantly enhance the activation of hrpX transcription by HrpG. We infer that the binding of VemR to HrpG can modulate the activity of HrpG to the hrpX promoter, thereby enhancing hrpX transcription. Although further studies are required to validate this inference and explore the detailed functional mechanism of VemR, our findings provide some insights into the complex regulatory cascade of the HpaS/RavA-VemR/HrpG-HrpX signal transduction system in the control of T3SS., (© 2023 The Authors. Herein, we established effective nomograms for predicting early tumor progression (ETP) and late tumor progression (LTP) in NPC patients., Methods: We retrospectively enrolled 8292 NPC patients (training cohort: n = 6219; validation cohort: n = 2073). The ELP and LTP were defined as the time to tumor progression ≤24 and >24 months after treatment, respectively., Results: The ETP and LTP accounted for 52.6 and 47.4% of the total patient cohort, respectively. Patients who developed ETP had markedly worse overall survival (OS) versus patients who suffered from LTP (5-year OS: 26.2% vs. 59.7%, p < 0.001). Further, we identified 10/6 predictive factors significantly associated with ETP/LTP via logistic regression analyses. These indicators were used separately to construct two predictive nomograms for ETP and LTP. In the training group, the ETP nomogram [Harrell Concordance Index (C-index) value: 0.711 vs. 0.618; p < 0.001] and LTP nomogram (C-index value: 0.701 vs. 0.612; p < 0.001) were significantly superior for risk stratification than the TNM staging. These results were supported in the validation group with a C-index value of 0.753 and 0.738 for the ETP and LTP nomograms, respectively. High-risk patients defined by ETP/LTP nomograms had shorter progression-free survival than low-risk patients (all p < 0.001)., Conclusion: The established nomograms can help in ELP or LTP risk stratification for NPC patients. Background: The prognostic impact of acute kidney injury (AKI) recovery patterns in critically ill patients with cirrhosis is unknown. We aimed to compare mortality stratified by AKI recovery patterns and identify predictors of mortality in patients with cirrhosis and AKI admitted to the intensive care unit., Materials and Methods: Patients with cirrhosis and AKI from 2016 to 2018 at 2 tertiary care intensive care units were analyzed (N=322). AKI recovery was defined by Acute Disease Quality Initiative consensus: return of serum creatinine <0.3 mg/dL of baseline within 7 days of AKI onset. Recovery patterns were categorized by Acute Disease Quality Initiative consensus: 0-2 days, 3-7 days, and no-recovery (persistence of AKI >7 d). Landmark competing risk univariable and multivariable models (liver transplant as competing risk) was used to compare 90-day mortality between AKI recovery groups and to determine independent predictors of mortality., Results: Sixteen percent (N=50) and 27% (N=88) achieved AKI recovery within 0-2 and 3-7 days, respectively; 57% (N=184) had no-recovery. Acute on chronic liver failure was prevalent (83%) and patients with no-recovery were more likely to have grade 3 acute on chronic liver failure (N=95, 52%) compared to patients with AKI recovery [0-2: 16% (N=8); 3-7: 26% (N=23); p<0.001]. Patients with no-recovery had significantly higher probability of mortality [unadjusted-sub-HR (sHR): 3.55; 95% CI: 1.94-6.49; p<0.001] compared to patients with recovery within 0-2 days, while the probability was similar between 3-7 and 0-2 days (unadjusted-sub-HR: 1.71; 95% CI: 0.91-3.20; p=0.09). On multivariable analysis, AKI no-recovery (sub-HR: 2.07; 95% CI: 1.33-3.24; p=0.001), severe alcohol-associated hepatitis (sub-HR: 2.41; 95% CI: 1.20-4.83; p=0.01), and ascites (sub-HR: 1.60; 95% CI: 1.05-2.44; p=0.03) were independently associated with mortality., Conclusion: AKI no-recovery occurs in over half of critically ill patients with cirrhosis and AKI and is associated with worse survival. Objective: This review was conducted to assess the quality of the evidence of effectiveness of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in treating motor and language ability of cerebral palsy (CP)., Method: Medline, Cochrane library, Web of Science, Embase, PubMed, and CNKI databases were searched up to July 2021 by two independent reviewers. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that were published in English and Chinese and met the following criteria were included. The population comprised patients who met the diagnostic criteria for CP. Intervention included the following: comparison about rTMS and sham rTMS or comparison about rTMS combine with other physical therapy and other physical therapy. Outcomes included motor function, as follows: gross motor function measure (GMFM), Gesell Development Diagnosis Scale, fine motor function measure (FMFM), Peabody developmental motor scale, and Modified Ashworth scale. For language ability, sign-significant relation (S-S) was included. Methodological quality was assessed using the Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro) scale., Results: Finally, 29 studies were included in the meta-analysis. Results of evaluation using the Cochrane Collaborative Network Bias Risk Assessment Scale showed that 19 studies specifically explained randomization, among which two studies described allocation concealment, four studies blinded participants and persons and had low risk of bias, and six studies explained that the assessment of outcome measures was blinded. Background: The intra-articular injection of mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)-derived exosomes has already been proved to reverse osteoarthritic cartilage degeneration. Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) has been found to regulate the biogenic function of MSCs. However, the effect of PEMF on MSC-derived exosomes has not yet been characterized. The aim of this study was to elucidate the regulatory role of different frequencies of PEMF in promoting the osteoarthritic cartilage regeneration of MSC-derived exosomes., Methods: The adipose tissue-derived MSCs (AMSCs) were extracted from the epididymal fat of healthy rats and further exposed to the PEMF at 1 mT amplitude and a frequency of 15, 45, and 75 Hz, respectively, in an incubator. The chondrocytes were treated with interlukin-1β (IL-1β) and the regenerative effect of co-culturing with PEMF-exposed AMSC-derived exosomes was assessed via Western blot, quantitative polymerase chain reaction, and ELISA assays. A rat model of osteoarthritis was established by anterior cruciate ligament transection (ACLT) surgery and received 4 times intra-articular injection of PEMF-exposed AMSC-derived exosomes once a week. After 8 weeks, the knee joint specimens of rats were collected for micro-computed tomography and histologic analyses., Results: PEMF-exposed AMSC-derived exosomes could be endocytosed with IL-1β-induced chondrocytes. Compared with the AMSC-derived exosomes alone, the PEMF-exposed AMSC-derived exosomes substantially suppressed the inflammation and extracellular matrix degeneration of IL-1β-induced chondrocytes as shown by higher expression of transcripts and proteins of COL2A1, SOX9, and ACAN and lower expression of MMP13 and caspase-1. Of these, the 75-Hz PEMF presented a more significant inhibitive effect than the 15-Hz and 45-Hz PEMFs. Furthermore, the intra-articular injection of 75-Hz PEMF-exposed exosomes could obviously increase the number of tibial epiphyseal trabeculae, lead to a remarkable decrease in Osteoarthritis Research Society International score, and upregulate the COL2A1 and ACAN protein level of the degenerated cartilage., Conclusion: The present study demonstrated that PEMF stimulation could effectively promote the regeneration effects of AMSC-derived exosomes on osteoarthritic cartilage. Compared with other frequency parameters, the PEMF at a frequency of 75 Hz showed a superior positive effect on AMSC-derived exosomes in suppressing the IL-1β-induced chondrocyte inflammation and extracellular matrix catabolism, as well as the osteoarthritic cartilage degeneration.

36. Effects of rhythmic auditory stimulation on motor function and balance ability in stroke: A systematic review and meta-analysis of clinical randomized controlled studies.

- Abstract
Objective: Rhythmic auditory stimulation (RAS) belongs to neurologic music therapy, which has attracted clinical attention because of its efficacy in motor function after stroke. This study aimed to summarize the effectiveness of rhythmic auditory stimulation (RAS) for the treatment of motor function and balance ability in stroke through a systematic review and meta-analysis., Methods: All studies were retrieved from six databases. The effects of RAS on stroke were determined using the following indicators: motor function including step length, step cadence, velocity, Fugl-Meyer assessment (FMA); and balance ability including overall balance index (OBI) and Berg Balance Scale (BBS). The risk map of bias of the quality of the studies and the meta-analysis results of the indicators was prepared using RevMan 5.2 software., Results: A total of 1,363 abstracts were retrieved. Among them, 325 duplicate studies were eliminated, and 971 studies were excluded after reading the titles and abstracts. In addition, by downloading the full text for further reading and screening, 47 studies were excluded. A total of 22 studies were included in the systematic review, and 18 studies were included in the meta-analysis. Assessment of quality, based on the PEDro scale, two studies had low quality, three studies had excellent quality, and the other studies had good quality; based on the Cochrane Collaborative Network Bias Risk Assessment Scale. A total of 15 studies specifically explained the random methods used. Meanwhile, seven studies did not report random sequence generation. A total of 10 studies reported that the evaluation of experimental results was blinded. In the meta-analysis, the results of motor function [namely, velocity (SMD = 0.99, 95% CI (0.43, 1.55)), step length (SMD = 0.97, 95% CI (0.74, 1.20)), and step cadence (MD = 5.16, 95% CI (4.17, 6.14)), FMA (MD = 2.93, 95% CI (2.04, 3.83))], were statistically significant ( P < 0.01). The results of balance ability [OBI (MD = -0.51, 95% CI (-0.86, -0.16)) and BBS (MD = 2.93, 95% CI (1.67, 4.20))], were also statistically significant ( P < 0.01). Among all the outcome indicators, three indicators were included in more than 10 studies: these are step length, step cadence, and velocity. The results showed that the two sides of the funnel chart were asymmetrical, thus these results all showed heterogeneity. The GRADEpro GDT online tool was used to evaluate the quality of evidence for the outcome indicators in the included studies. Five outcome indicators were included, of which three were low-quality indicators and two were moderate-quality indicators., Conclusions: RAS could improve gait parameters, walking function, and balance ability of individuals with stroke. Superior fast charging is a desirable capability of lithium-ion batteries, which can make electric vehicles a strong competition to traditional fuel vehicles. However, the slow transport of solvated lithium ions in liquid electrolytes is a limiting factor. Here, a Li
x Cu6 Sn5 intermetallic network is reported to address this issue. Based on electrochemical analysis and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy mapping, it is demonstrated that the reported intermetallic network can form a high-speed solid-state lithium transport matrix throughout the electrode, which largely reduces the lithium-ion-concentration polarization effect in the graphite anode. Employing this design, superior fast-charging graphite/lithium cobalt oxide full cells are fabricated and tested under strict electrode conditions. At the charging rate of 6 C, the fabricated full cells show a capacity of 145 mAh g-1 with an extraordinary capacity retention of 96.6%. In addition, the full cell also exhibits good electrochemical stability at a high charging rate of 2 C over 100 cycles (96.0% of capacity retention) in comparison to traditional graphite-anode-based cells (86.1% of capacity retention). Objective: Assess influencing factors for placenta accreta in pregnant women documented in recent literature., Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted based on English- and Chinese-language articles published from January 2014 to June 2019. Articles were retrieved from the following Chinese databases, CNKI, Wanfang Data, China Science and Technology Journal Database, CBM and English databases, PubMed, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library and Embase., Results: Eleven studies with 2,152,014 cases were included in the meta-analysis. The odds ratios of influencing factors were as follows: hypertension 2.51 (95% CI, 1.50-4.20), multifetal gestations 1.90 (95% CI, 1.26-2.88), male fetus 0.79 (95% CI, 0.74-0.84), and low socioeconomic status 0.51 (95% CI, 0.37-0.71)., Conclusion: Evidence from English- and Chinese-language literature indicates that hypertension and multifetal gestations are risk factors for placenta accreta, while male fetus and low socioeconomic status are protective factors.

- Abstract
Differences in mortality between critically ill patients with severe alcohol-associated hepatitis (sAH) and acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) and non-sAH ACLF (i.e., ACLF not precipitated by sAH) are unknown. Such differences are important, as they may inform on prognosis and optimal timing of liver transplantation (LT). Thus, we aimed to compare short-term and longer-term mortality between patients with sAH ACLF and patients with non-sAH ACLF who were admitted to the intensive care unit. Patients with ACLF admitted from 2016-2018 at two tertiary care intensive care units were analyzed. SAH was defined by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism's Alcoholic Hepatitis Consortium and Model for End-Stage Liver Disease score >20. Mortality without LT was compared between sAH ACLF and non-sAH ACLF using Fine and Gray's competing-risks regression. A total of 463 patients with ACLF (18% sAH and 82% non-sAH) were included. Compared to patients with non-sAH ACLF, patients with sAH ACLF were younger (49 vs. 56 years; P < 0.001) and had higher admission Model for End-Stage Liver Disease (MELD) (35 vs. 25; P < 0.001) and Chronic Liver Failure Consortium (CLIF-C) scores (61 vs. 57; P = 0.002). There were no significant differences between the two groups for vasopressor, mechanical ventilation, and hemodialysis use. The cumulative incidence of death was significantly higher in patients with sAH ACLF compared to patients with non-sAH ACLF: 30-day 74.7% versus 45.3%; 90-day 81.9% versus 57.4%; 180-day 83.2% versus 63.0% (unadjusted subdistribution hazard ratio [sHR] 1.88 [95% confidence interval (CI) 1.44-2.46]; P < 0.001). After adjusting for CLIF-C score and infection in a multivariable competing-risk model, patients with sAH ACLF had significantly higher risk of death (sHR 1.57 [95% CI 1.20-2.06]; P = 0.001) compared to patients with non-sAH ACLF. Conclusion: Critically ill patients with sAH ACLF have worse mortality compared to patients with non-sAH ACLF. These data may inform prognosis in patients with sAH and ACLF, and early LT referral in potentially eligible patients., (© 2021 The Authors. - Abstract
Objective: To explore the mechanism of reactive oxygen species/thioredoxin-interacting protein/nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-like receptor 3 (ROS/TXNIP/NLRP3) pathway in the skin injury of trichloroethylene (TCE) sensitized mice. Methods: In August 2020, 40 female BALB/c mice were randomly divided into control group ( n =5) , solvent control group ( n =5) , TCE treatment group ( n =15) and TCE+(2-(2, 2, 6, 6-Tetrameyhylpiperidin-1-oxyl-4-ylamino)-2-oxoethyl) triphenylphosphonium chloride (Mito TEMPO) treatment group ( n =15) . The TCE sensitization model was established. Mice in the TCE treatment group and TCE+Mito TEMPO treatment group were divided into the sensitized positive group and the sensitized negative group according to the skin erythema and edema reactions on the back of the mice 24 h after the last stimulation. The mice were sacrificed 72 h after the last stimulation, the back skin of the mice was taken, and the skin lesions were observed. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) was used to detect the expression level of NLRP3, and the Western Blot was performed to detect the expression levels of NLRP3, apoptosis-associated speck-like protein containing a CARD (ASC) , cysteinyl aspartate specific proteinase 1 (Caspase 1) , Interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and TXNIP proteins in the skin of the mice, the reactive oxygen species (ROS) kit was used to detect the level of intracellular ROS in the back skin tissue. Results: The sensitization rates of TCE treatment group and TCE+Mito TEMPO treatment group were 40.0% (6/15) and 33.3% (5/15) , respectively, and there was no significant difference between the two groups ( P >0.05) . The back skin of the mice in the TCE sensitized positive group was thickened and infiltrated by a large number of inflammatory cells. The number of mitochondria in the epidermis cells was significantly reduced, the mitochondrial crest disappeared and vacuolar degeneration occurred. TCE+Mito TEMPO sensitized positive group had less damage, more mitochondria and relatively normal cell structure. Compared with the solvent control group and corresponding sensitized negative groups, the expression levels of NLRP3, ASC, Caspase 1, IL-1β, TXNIP proteins and the content of ROS in the TCE sensitized positive group and TCE+Mito TEMPO sensitized positive group were significantly increased ( P <0.05) . Compared with TCE sensitized positive group, the expression levels of NLRP3, ASC, Caspase 1, IL-1β, TXNIP proteins and the content of ROS in the TCE+Mito TEMPO sensitized positive group were significantly decreased ( P <0.05) . Conclusion: ROS/TXNIP/NLRP3 pathway was activated and then encouraged the release of IL-1β, finally aggravated the TCE-induced skin injury.

The risk map of bias of the quality of the studies and the meta-analysis results of the indicators was prepared with RevMan 5.2 software., Results: Twenty-one studies were included in the systematic review, and 14 studies were included in the meta-analysis. In the meta-analysis, the results of gait parameters, namely, velocity, step length, and stride length, were statistically significant ( P < 0.05), whereas the results of cadence and stride width were not statistically significant ( P ≧ 0.05). The results of 6MWT and TUGT for motor function as well as UPDRS-II, UPDRS-III, and BBS were statistically significant ( P < 0.05)., Conclusions: RAS could improve gait parameters, walking function, balance function, and daily living activities of individuals with PD. The application of RAS in conventional rehabilitation approaches can enhance motor performance in PD. Objective: To compare the clinical effects of modified above-knee and conventional surgery with the stripping of the great saphenous vein of varicose veins of the lower extremities., Methods: Clinical data of patients with a varicose vein of the lower extremity from May 2016 to May 2018 were collected. A retrospective study was conducted on the patients receiving modified above-knee and conventional surgery with the great saphenous vein stripping. The baseline characteristics and long-term follow-up data were compared between the groups., Results: There were no significant differences in baseline characteristics between the two groups ( P > 0.05). The surgeries were successfully performed by the same group of surgeons under local anesthesia and neuraxial anesthesia. The hospital stay, operation time, intraoperative blood loss, total length, and number of incisions in the above-knee group were comparable to those in the conventional surgery group ( P > 0.05). The incidence of saphenous nerve injury and subcutaneous hematoma in the above-knee group was lower than that in the conventional surgery group ( P < 0.05). There were no significant differences in recurrent varicose vein incidences ( P > 0.05). After surgery, the venous clinical severity score (VCSS) and chronic venous insufficiency questionnaire (CIVIQ-14) scores of both groups were higher than those before operation ( P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in VCSS score or CIVIQ-14 scores between the two groups postoperation ( P > 0.05). At 24 months after surgery, the above-knee group (71.8%) and conventional surgery group (73.2%) resulted in changes of at least two CEAP-C clinical classes lower than baseline, respectively., Conclusion: The modified above-knee technique can ensure clinical outcomes, reduce intraoperative blood loss and complication incidences, and shorten the operative time. - Abstract
In China, fine particulate matter (PM
2.5 ) and tropospheric ozone (O3 ) have become major air pollutants that threaten human health. Since 2013, the government has strengthened air pollution controls in Beijing and achieved significant effects. A spatial-temporal analysis was conducted of the distribution and health impacts of PM2.5 and O3 in Beijing, using data collected from 34 air quality monitoring sites between 2014 and 2020. In 2014, the annual average PM2.5 and seasonal (April to September) average of daily one-hourly maximum O3 concentrations (O3_max ) were 92.0 μg·m-3 and 81.9 nmol·mol-1 , respectively. From 2014 to 2020, annual average PM2.5 decreased at a rate of 7.5 μg·m-3 . However, there was no significant difference in O3_max over the years. The concentrations of PM2.5 were highest in December and January (in winter) and lowest in August (in summer). On the contrary, O3_max was highest in June. The diurnal variations of PM2.5 were affected by meteorological conditions and emission sources, and maximum concentrations occurred between 22:00 to 00:00, while minimum concentrations occurred between 14:00 to 16:00. The concentration of O3_max showed an opposite pattern, with minimum vales occurring at 07:00 and maximum values occurring in the afternoon. The spatial distribution of PM2.5 showed similar patterns in 2014 and 2019, with the south of Beijing exhibiting the highest concentrations, and the north the lowest. The concentration of O3_max was higher in suburban areas than in traffic areas. In terms of health impacts, 1580 cases of cardiovascular disease and 821 of respiratory disease were attributed to PM2.5 in 2014, while 2180 cases of respiratory disease were attributable to O3 in 2014. In 2019, mortalities attributable to PM2.5 had decreased by 50% compared to 2014. While the number of disease cases attributable to O3 were similar in 2014 and 2019. the results indicate that PM2.5 pollution in Beijing has been successfully controlled, while O3 pollution has become more severe, and was the primary air pollutant threatening human health in 2019. Therefore, the synchronous control of PM2.5 and O3 should be implemented in the future.- Published

45. Clinical Randomized Controlled Study of Acupuncture Treatment on Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD): A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

- Abstract
This study aimed to summarize the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture in the treatment of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) through literature analysis and evaluation. All studies were retrieved from various databases as follows: English databases, such as PubMed, Cochrane Library, Ovid, and Web of Science, and Chinese databases, such as China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), WanFang Data (WF), and Technology Periodical Database (VIP). The Cochrane Collaboration's Bias Risk Assessment Scale was used to assess the studies' risk of bias. The effects of acupuncture treatment for ASD were determined using the following indicators: childhood autism rating scale (CARS), autism behavior check list (ABC), Reynell developmental language scale (RDLS), and functional independence measure of children (WeeFIM). The risk map of bias of these studies' quality and the meta-analysis results of the indicators was prepared with RevMan 5.2 software. Finally, 16 studies were included, five of which were in English and 11 were in Chinese. The 16 studies included 1332 patients. The CARS results for subgroup analysis were as follows: acupuncture subgroup (MD = -2.65, 95% CI (-3.22, -2.07)) and acupuncture plus massage subgroup (MD = -10.35, 95% CI (-11.34, -9.36)). The ABC results were as follows: (MD = -6.70, 95% CI (-9.10, -4.29)). The analysis results of sensory, relating, language, body and object use, and social/self-help in the subitems of ABC were as follows: sensory (MD = -2.67, 95% CI (-2.90, -2.44)), relating (MD = -3.28, 95% CI (-3.55, -3.02)), language (MD = -2.45, 95% CI (-2.73, -2.16)), body and object use (MD = -1.19, 95% CI (-1.38, -1.00)), and social/self-help (MD = -2.09, 95% CI (-2.30, -1.89)). For the analysis results of comprehension and expression ages in the subitems of RDLS, the comprehension age results were as follows: (MD = 0.08, 95% CI (-0.06, 0.22), P = 0.27). Those of expression age were as follows: (MD = 0.15, 95% CI (0.04, 0.26), P =0.009). The WeeFIM results were as follows: (MD = 3.70, 95% CI (2.38, 5.02)). This study suggested that acupuncture could effectively treat ASD. However, acupuncture methods and prescriptions at this stage remain heterogeneous, and acupuncture treatment operations require standardization. - Abstract
Photoelectrochemical catalysis is an attractive way to provide direct hydrogen production from solar energy. However, solar conversion efficiencies are hindered by the fact that light harvesting has so far been of limited efficiency in the near-infrared region as compared to that in the visible and ultraviolet regions. Here we introduce near-infrared-active photoanodes that feature lattice-matched morphological hetero-nanostructures, a strategy that improves energy conversion efficiency by increasing light-harvesting spectral range and charge separation efficiency simultaneously. Specifically, we demonstrate a near-infrared-active morphological heterojunction comprised of BiSeTe ternary alloy nanotubes and ultrathin nanosheets. The heterojunction's hierarchical nanostructure separates charges at the lattice-matched interface of the two morphological components, preventing further carrier recombination. As a result, the photoanodes achieve an incident photon-to-current conversion efficiency of 36% at 800 nm in an electrolyte solution containing hole scavengers without a co-catalyst., (© 2021. 47. [Relationship Between Relative Crop Yield/Woody Plant Biomass and Ground-level Ozone Pollution in China].

Currently, ground-level ozone (O
3 ) pollution is increasingly serious in China, and highly threatens plant productivity. In this study, we summarized the relationship between relative crop yield or woody plant biomass and O3 metrics, including M7 (the mean of hourly concentrations from 09:00 to 16:00), SUM06 (sum of hourly concentrations above 60 nmol·mol-1 ), W126 (Sigmoidal weighted sum of the hourly concentrations during a specified period), PODY [phytotoxic O3 dose above a threshold flux of Y nmol·(m2 ·s)-1 ], and the most commonly used AOT40 (accumulated O3 concentrations over an hourly threshold of 40 nmol·mol-1 ), and proposed their critical level to protect plants against O3 damage. Based on the AOT40 metric, we found that the O3 risk threshold that caused a 5% decrease in yield was 5.93 μmol·mol-1 ·h for rice, 2.69 μmol·mol-1 ·h for winter wheat, 8.67 μmol·mol-1 ·h for maize, and 4.17 μmol·mol-1 ·h for soybean, indicating that maize may be more tolerant to O3 than the other three crops in China. The O3 risk threshold that led to a 5% reduction in total biomass was 12.20 μmol·mol-1 ·h across five poplar clones (based on experiment) and 10.87 μmol·mol-1 ·h across 17 woody plants (based on integrated analysis). On the other hand, some perspectives were presented concerning the establishment of O3 response relationships for important productivity-related parameters, and the improvement of accuracy in O3 regional risk assessment. It is also important to consider how to couple other important factors affecting plant O3 sensitivity (such as soil nitrogen and plant age) into the regional assessment model.- Published

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the cause of an overwhelming number of cancer-related deaths across the world. Developing precise and noninvasive biomarkers is critical for diagnosing HCC. Our research was designed to explore potentially useful biomarkers of host peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) in HCC by integrating comprehensive bioinformatic analysis., Methods: Gene expression data of PBMC in both healthy individuals and patients with HCC were extracted from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs). The gene ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analysis were applied to annotate the function of DEGs. Protein-protein interaction analysis was performed to screen the hub genes from DEGs. cBioportal database analysis was performed to assess the prognostic significance of hub genes. The Cancer Cell Line Encyclopedia (CCLE) and The Human Protein Atlas (HPA) database analyses were performed to confirm the expression levels of the hub genes in HCC cells and tissue., Results: A total of 95 DEGs were screened. Results of the GO analysis revealed that DEGs were primarily involved in platelet degranulation, cytoplasm, and protein binding. Results of the KEGG analysis indicated that DEGs were primarily enriched in focal adhesion. Five genes, namely, myosin light chain kinase (MYLK), interleukin 1 beta (IL1B), phospholipase D1 (PLD1), cortactin (CTTN), and moesin (MSN), were identified as hub genes. A search in the CCLE and HPA database showed that the expression levels of these hub genes were remarkably increased in the HCC samples. Survival analysis revealed that the overexpression of MYLK, IL1B, and PLD1 may have a significant effect on HCC survival. The aberrant high expression levels of MYLK, IL1B, and PLD1 strongly indicated worse prognosis in patients with HCC., Conclusions: The identified hub genes may be closely linked with HCC tumorigenicity and may act as potentially useful biomarkers for the prognostic prediction of HCC in PBMC samples., Competing Interests: All authors declared no conflict of interest., (Copyright © 2021 the Author(s). Background and Aim: Single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are potential biomarkers for cancer risk, but their association with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is unclear. We examined the association of lncRNA-related SNPs with HCC susceptibility and explored the optimal genetic models for SNPs., Methods: Five candidate SNPs linked with digestive tumors were first genotyped in a screening population of 700 HCC and 2800 control cases. The association between each SNP and HCC risk was estimated by multivariate logistic regression adjusted by sex and age and recorded as odds ratio (OR) with 95% confidence interval. Significant associations were further tested in a validation population with 1140 HCC and 5115 control cases. Finally, the most appropriate genetic models for HCC-associated SNPs were identified using pairwise allele differences; the overall gene effects of each SNP were further evaluated based on optimal genetic models., Results: Three candidate SNPs, rs7315438, rs6983267, and rs10795668, showed statistical connections with HCC risk in the discovery stage. Among these, rs7315438 remained steadily significant in the validation stage; rs7315438 and rs10795668 both reached statistical threshold in the combined analysis of both stages. SNP rs7315438 (TC vs TT/CC, OR = 1.410, P < 0.001) was associated with increased risk of HCC in a complete overdominant model, whereas rs10795668 (AG vs AA/GG, OR = 0.892, P = 0.035) exerted a protective effect on HCC risk in a complete overdominant model., Conclusions: Long non-coding RNA-related SNPs rs7315438 and rs10795668 are potential biomarkers for HCC susceptibility, especially when evaluated based on their optimal genetic models., (© 2020 Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Foundation and John Wiley & Sons Australia, Ltd.)

- Abstract
Objective: Hemorrhoidal disease (HD) is the most common proctological disease, with an estimated prevalence rate of 4.4%, and a peak in individuals between 45 and 65 years of age. This study was done to evaluate whether Lian-Zhi-San (LZS), a clinically used anti-hemorrhoidal ointment could alleviate the inflammatory injury, with its associated changes of inflammatory cytokines and morphology of anorectal tissues, in an experimental model of HD in rats., Methods: HD was induced by croton oil preparation (COP) applied to the anorectal region. Rats were then treated with cotton swabs soaked in LZS ointment, water or white vaseline, twice a day for 7 d. At the end of the experiment, HD was evaluated by measuring hemorrhoidal and biochemical parameters along with histopathological observations., Results: In this study, COP induced a significant increase in the macroscopic severity score, anorectal coefficient and Evans blue extravasation, compared to normal rats. Additionally, it greatly enhanced the expression and secretion levels of some important inflammation-related cytokines along with marked histological damage, compared to normal rats. Rats treated with LZS ointment experienced significantly ameliorated Evans blue extravasation (P < 0.05), decreased macroscopic severity score (0.86 ± 0.14 vs. 1.65 ± 0.16) and the anorectal coefficient (P < 0.01); its use also attenuated tissue damage and inhibited the expression and secretion levels of inflammation-related cytokines (interleukin-1β, interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-α)., Conclusion: This study validates a preliminary understanding of the use of LZS ointment to treat inflammatory factors and tissue damage in an experimental model of HD in rats., Competing Interests: Declaration of competing interest The authors declare that they have no known competing financial interests or personal relationships that could have appeared to influence the work reported in this paper., (Copyright © 2020 Shanghai Changhai Hospital.
