Background: The long-term impacts of COVID-19 on human health are a major concern, yet comprehensive evaluations of its effects on various health conditions are lacking. Methods: This study aims to evaluate the role of various diseases in relation to COVID-19 by analyzing genetic data from a large-scale population over 2,000,000 individuals. A bidirectional two-sample Mendelian randomization approach was used, with exposures including COVID-19 susceptibility, hospitalization, and severity, and outcomes encompassing 86 different diseases or traits. A reverse Mendelian randomization analysis was performed to assess the impact of these diseases on COVID-19. Results: Our analysis identified causal relationships between COVID-19 susceptibility and several conditions, including breast cancer (OR = 1.0073, 95% CI = 1.0032–1.0114, p = 5 × 10 − 4), ER + breast cancer (OR = 0.5252, 95% CI = 0.3589–0.7685, p = 9 × 10 − 4), and heart failure (OR = 1.0026, 95% CI = 1.001–1.0042, p = 0.002). COVID-19 hospitalization was causally linked to heart failure (OR = 1.0017, 95% CI = 1.0006–1.0028, p = 0.002) and Alzheimer's disease (OR = 1.5092, 95% CI = 1.1942–1.9072, p = 0.0006). COVID-19 severity had causal effects on primary biliary cirrhosis (OR = 2.6333, 95% CI = 1.8274–3.7948, p = 2.059 × 10 − 7), celiac disease (OR = 0.0708, 95% CI = 0.0538–0.0932, p = 9.438 × 10–80), and Alzheimer's disease (OR = 1.5092, 95% CI = 1.1942–1.9072, p = 0.0006). Reverse MR analysis indicated that rheumatoid arthritis, diabetic nephropathy, multiple sclerosis, and total testosterone (female) influence COVID-19 outcomes. We assessed heterogeneity and horizontal pleiotropy to ensure result reliability and employed the Steiger directionality test to confirm the direction of causality. Conclusions: This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the causal relationships between COVID-19 and diverse health conditions. Our findings highlight the long-term impacts of COVID-19 on human health, emphasizing the need for continuous monitoring and targeted interventions for affected individuals. Ultrasound (US) has traditionally been recognised for its imaging capabilities, but its emerging role as a therapeutic modality in postoperative wound management, especially in paediatric care, has garnered significant attention. This meta‐analysis aimed to evaluate the influence of US on postoperative wound healing and infection rates in paediatric patients. From an initial pool of 1236 articles, seven were deemed suitable for inclusion. Postoperative wound healing was assessed using the Redness, Edema, Ecchymosis, Discharge, and Approximation (REEDA) scale. Notably, there was a significant difference in wound healing patterns between the US‐treated and control groups (I2 = 94%, standardized mean difference [SMD]: −4.60, 95% confidence intervals [CIs]: −6.32 to −2.88, p < 0.01), as illustrated in Figure 4. Additionally, a marked difference in wound infection rates was observed between the groups (I2 = 93%, SMD: −5.86, 95% CIs: −9.04 to −2.68, p < 0.01), as portrayed in Figure 5. The findings underscore the potential benefits of US in enhancing postoperative wound healing and reducing infection rates in paediatric surgical settings. Background: Bronchiolitis obliterans (BO) is a chronic disease that can arise as a complication of severe childhood pneumonia and can also impact the long-term survival of patients after lung transplantation. However, the precise molecular mechanism underlying BO remains unclear. We aimed to identify BO-associated hub genes and their molecular mechanisms.Methods: BO-associated transcriptome datasets (GSE52761, GSE137169, and GSE94557) were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs). Additional bioinformatics analyses, such as Gene Ontology (GO), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG), and Protein-Protein Interaction (PPI) analyses, were performed to determine functional roles and DEG-associated regulatory networks. Prediction of hub genes using the 12 algorithms available in the Cytohubba plugin of Cytoscape software was also performed. Verification was performed using the BO mouse model.Results: Our results revealed 57 DEGs associated with BO, of which 18 were down-regulated and 39 were up-regulated. The Cytohubba plugin data further narrowed down the 57 DEGs into 9 prominent hub genes (CCR2, CD1D, GM2A, TFEC, MPEG1, CTSS, GPNMB, BIRC2, and CTSZ). Genes such as CCR2, TFEC, MPEG1, CTSS, and CTSZ were dysregulated in 2,3-butanedione-induced BO mice, whereas TFEC, CTSS, and CTSZ were dysregulated in nitric acid-induced BO mouse models.Conclusion: Our study identified and validated four novel BO biomarkers, which may allow further investigation into the development of distinct BO diagnostic markers and novel therapeutic avenues. Headspace solid-phase microextraction combined with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry was used to analyze and identify the volatile components of rosemary leaves and fresh rosemary leaves with five different drying treatments : natural drying, freeze drying, drying at 40, 60 and 80 °C. The results showed that the main volatile components of dried rosemary leaves included terpinone, 4, 6, 6-trimethyl-bis[3.1.1] hept-3-ene-2-one, cineole, camphor, linalool, α-pinene, α-terpinol, bornyl acetate, pinocarvone, camphene and caryophyllene. Among them, the GC content of 4,6,6-trimethyl-bis[3.1.1] hept-3-ene-2-one and cineole reached 54.94% - 60.09%. The main volatile components of rosemary leaves were alcohols, terpenes, aldehydes, alkanes, benzenes and esters. Freeze drying rosemary leaves had the most volatile components, with 44 identified, accounting for 99.61% of the total volatile substances. By analyzing the differences in the composition and content of volatile substances in rosemary leaves with five different drying methods, it was found that freeze drying could retain volatile components to the greatest extent.
