5. Study on Roof-Cutting and Support of a Retreating Roadway under the Double Influence of Large Mining Heights.

Abstract

When the coal mining face enters the final stage of mining, the roadway faces the superimposed influence of surrounding rock stress redistribution and roof rotary moment. As affected by the strong disturbance in the coal mining process, the roof plate of the roadway has undergone serious deformation, which seriously affects the stability of the roadway. Taking the 108 working face of the Jinjitan coal mine as the engineering background, a comprehensive study was conducted on the control of the perimeter rock in the retracement of a tunnel in a heavy coal seam with a large mining height. By analyzing the physical properties of the enclosing rock of the retreated roadway, and using theoretical analysis, numerical simulation, on-site monitoring, and other methods, the characteristics of the peripheral rock's movement relationship and mineral pressure manifestation in the final mining stage of the large-height working face have been studied. The structural mechanics model was established, and in the case where the support cannot be solved just by strengthening the support, the design scheme of "blasting roof break + constant resistance anchor cable support" was innovatively tried. FLAC3D simulation results show that the stress release of the surrounding rock is more adequate when the height of roof cutting is 20 m. The stress of the surrounding rock near the roadway is reduced by 30~40%, and the stress state is reasonable. The constant resistance and large deformation anchors can absorb the deformation energy of the rock body, maintain constant working resistance and stable deformation, and have good rock stability control, which is conducive to the stability of the roadway. Abstract

An advance Li‐sphere possessing a definitely regular morphology in Li deposition enables a well‐defined more robust structure and superior solid‐electrolyte interphase (SEI) to achieve high‐efficiency long‐term cycles in Li metal anode. Here, a new sight of high Li+ cluster‐like solvation sheaths coordinated in a localized high‐concentration NO3− (LH‐LiNO3) electrolyte fully clarifies for depositing advanced Li spheres. Moreover, we elucidate a critical amorphous‐crystalline phase transition in the nanostructure evolution of Li‐sphere deposits during the nucleation and growth. Li‐sphere anode exhibits ultra‐stable structural engineering for suppressing Li dendrite growths and rendering ultralong life of 4000 cycles in symmetrical cells at 2 mA cm−2. The as‐constructed Li spheres/3DCM|LiFePO4 (LFP) full cell delivers a high capacity retention of 90.5% at 1 C after 1000 cycles, and a robust dendrite‐free structure also stably exists in Li‐sphere anode. Combined with high‐loading LFP cathodes (6.6 and 10.9 mg cm−2), superb capacity retentions are up to 96.5% and 92.5% after 800 cycles at 1 C, respectively. Abstract

Fluorescent imaging of β-amyloid (Aβ) is one of the most promising methods for Alzheimer's disease diagnosis. Several fluorescent probes have been reported to detect Aβ both in vitro and in vivo. However, highly sensitive and highly selective probes with low background signals are still greatly needed. Herein, we rationally designed and synthesized a PIET quenched near-infrared probe QAD-1 to detect Aβ. This probe contains BODIPY as fluorophore and tetrahydroquinoxaline as the quenching group. QAD-1 exhibited significant fluorescent switch-on after binding to soluble and insoluble Aβ species, and the probe had the benefit of low background signal to stain Aβ plaques without the need of wash-out procedures in vitro, which was specially found by the fluorescence off-on probe. QAD-1 could identify the overproduced Aβ in transgenic (APPSWE/PSEN 1dE9) AD mice as early as 6 months old in vivo, which indicated that QAD-1 may be a potential probe for monitoring Aβ species at an early stage of AD.

Abstract

Effective treatment of metastatic (stage IV) breast cancers remains a formidable challenge. To address this issue, a cell-penetrating peptide-assisted liposomal system was developed for codelivery of doxorubicin and andrographolide. This nanomedicine-based combination therapy showed the ability to inhibit the in vitro migration and invasion of 4T1 cells through the wound healing and transwell invasion assays. Furthermore, this delivery system exhibited the enhanced accumulation in the tumor tissues and deep intratumoral penetration. The synergistic effect of doxorubicin and andrographolide led to an evident inhibition of tumor growth in an orthotopic breast tumor mouse model and efficient prevention of lung metastasis. The therapeutic mechanism was associated with the anti-angiogenesis effect. In conclusion, this nanomedicine-based combination therapy provides a potential method for overcoming metastatic breast cancers.

Abstract

BackgroundWater transparency is one indicator of water quality. High water transparency is an indication of clean water. A common method for measuring water transparency is Secchi depth. In this paper, we present an approach to water quality (Secchi depth and turbidity) monitoring using mobile phones and a small device designed for water quality measurements.ResultsThe water quality parameters were analysed automatically from the images taken using mobile phone cameras. During the summer of 2012, we conducted a field trial in which 100 test users gathered 1,146 observations using the system. The results of the automatic Secchi3000 depth analysis were compared against reference measurements, and they indicate that our approach can be used for quantitative water quality measurements.ConclusionsResults show that overall the system performs well. Both Secchi depth and turbidity are estimated with excellent or good accuracy when the measurements are taken with care.

Abstract

The Electronic Program Guide (EPG) is the most important service of future mobile digital television platform. In this paper, we present an approach which applying adaptive learning algorithms to the EPG agent to automatically learn optimized channel categorization and TV event list prompts. We apply a learning Classifier System (especially XCS) as a reinforcement learning component to learn policies (a set of rules). We embed usability heuristics of mobile digital television in the reward functions, which are used to achieve the agent's goals. We test this approach and demonstrate that the accuracy of channel classification can be as high as 99% in average.

Abstract

The DVB terrestrial digital television (DVB-T) standard provides the ability for mobile reception of digital television and data services. However, the service platform architecture specified in current DVB Multimedia Home Platform (MHP) standard for set-top box is not quite suitable for mobile devices due to the characteristics of the various terminals. This paper presents an intelligent middleware architecture for mobile digital television applications. The architecture adopts the learning mechanisms of a classifier system and is designed to be MHP-based and compatible. Two mobile applications, mobile Teletext and Electronic Programming Guide (EPG), were implemented in Java within this model. The partial results show that this approach is feasible.

Abstract

Digital Teletext is one of the most important interactive services of emerging digital television. As an enhanced version of existing analogue Teletext service, it’s a resident application of the set-top box. Its information will be stored in a data carousel and transmitted via broadcasting network. The new service can display smooth graphics and images, have page links and a menu driven navigation method. However, there is no standard specification available for the content format. This paper presents a content format based on Extensible Markup Language (XML). A prototype of digital Teletext system is implemented using the Java programming language.

Abstract

The digital television development is one of the most important events in the history of television broadcasting. This paper highlights the user interface issue in digital television environment. We will not discuss the usability of user interface design, but rather the implementation of user interface for Interactive television services. The background of Multimedia Home Platform (MHP) and Application Programming Interface (API) is introduced. The paper describes how to develop a Java user interface, which includes not only graphics but also time-based media (e.g., video). Many functions and effects behind the TV visual image have to be implemented. The special features of digital TV user interface are presented by giving an example (i.e., screen information service for ice hockey). Finally, the future possible research topics are briefly addressed.

Abstract

Background: Hepatocarcinogenesis is a multistep process characterized in patients with chronic liver diseases by a spectrum of hepatic nodules that mark the progression from regenerative nodules to dysplastic lesions followed by hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The differential diagnosis between precancerous dysplastic nodules and early HCC still represents a challenge for both radiologists and pathologists. We addressed the potential of Fourier transform-infrared (FTIR) microspectroscopy for grading cirrhotic nodules on frozen tissue sections.Methods: The study was focused on 39 surgical specimens including normal livers (n = 11), dysplastic nodules (n = 6), early HCC (n = 1), progressed HCC on alcoholic cirrhosis (n = 10) or hepatitis C virus cirrhosis (n = 11). The use of the bright infrared source emitted by the synchrotron radiation allowed investigating the biochemical composition at the cellular level. Chemical mapping on whole tissue sections was further performed using a FTIR microscope equipped with a laboratory-based infrared source. The variance was addressed by principal component analysis.Results: Profound alterations of the biochemical composition of the pathological liver were demonstrated by FTIR microspectroscopy. Indeed, dramatic changes were observed in lipids, proteins and sugars highlighting the metabolic reprogramming in carcinogenesis. Quantifiable spectral markers were characterized by calculating ratios of areas under specific bands along the infrared spectrum. These markers allowed the discrimination of cirrhotic nodules, dysplastic lesions and HCC. Finally, the spectral markers can be measured using a laboratory FTIR microscope that may be easily implemented at the hospital.Conclusion: Metabolic reprogramming in liver carcinogenesis can constitute a signature easily detectable using FTIR microspectroscopy for the diagnosis of precancerous and cancerous lesions.
