Abstract

Research has been conducted on the acylation reaction regioselectivity. The results indicate that regioselectivity of the Vilsmeier-Haack reaction can be explained by the stability of the cationic intermediate resulting from the attack on C (sub)4.

Abstract

The overall yield of the nonracemic (R)-myrmicarin 217 from pyrrole is 7.5% with 98% ee. The synthesis of (S)-ent-M217 is carried out using L-glutamic acid. The atmospheric oxidation of the compounds is prevented by storing under nitrogen.
