1. Up-regulation of glycolipid transfer protein by bicyclol causes spontaneous restriction of hepatitis C virus replication

Abstract

Bicyclol is a synthetic drug for hepatoprotection in clinic since 2004. Preliminary clinical observations suggest that bicyclol might be active against hepatitis C virus (HCV) with unknown mechanism. Here, we showed that bicyclol significantly inhibited HCV replication in vitro and in hepatitis C patients. Using bicyclol as a probe, we identified glycolipid transfer protein (GLTP) to be a novel restrictive factor for HCV replication. The GLTP preferentially bound host vesicle-associated membrane protein-associated protein-A (VAP-A) in competition with the HCV NS5A, causing an interruption of the complex formation between VAP-A and HCV NS5A. As the formation of VAP-A/NS5A complex is essential for viral RNA replication, up-regulation of GLTP by bicyclol reduced the level of VAP-A/NS5A complex and thus inhibited HCV replication. Bicyclol also exhibited an inhibition on HCV variants resistant to direct-acting antiviral agents (DAAs) with an efficacy identical to that on wild type HCV. In combination with bicyclol, DAAs inhibited HCV replication in a synergistic fashion. Abstract

Self-healing coatings mainly include externally assisted self-healing coatings based on the addition of repair agent and intrinsic selfhealing coatings based on reversible bond crosslinking polymers.The intrinsic self-healing coatings have attracted extensive attention due to their multiple repairable properties.In this paper，the self-healing technology based on crosslinking polymers containing reversible covalent bonds such as reversible imine bond，reversible disulfide bond，reversible Diels-Alder reaction and reversible urea bond，as well as the selfhealing mechanism，performance characteristics and difficulties of supramolecular crosslinked polymers based on reversible non-covalent bonds such as hydrogen bond，metal-ligand coordination bond and π - π stacking were discussed in detail.Besides，the application of self-healing technology based on reversible crosslinking polymers in coatings was also discussed.

Abstract

This paper describes the behavior of top gated transistors fabricated using carbon, particularly epitaxial graphene on SiC, as the active material. In the past decade research has identified carbon-based electronics as a possible alternative to silicon-based electronics. This enthusiasm was spurred by high carbon nanotube carrier mobilities. However, nanotube production, placement, and control are all serious issues. Graphene, a thin sheet of graphitic carbon, can overcome some of these problems and therefore is a promising new electronic material. Although graphene devices have been built before, in this work we provide the first demonstration and systematic evaluation of arrays of a large number of transistors entirely produced using standard microelectronics methods. Graphene devices presented feature high-k dielectric, mobilities up to 5000 cm2/Vs and, Ion/Ioff ratios of up to 7, and are methodically analyzed to provide insight into the substrate properties. Typical of graphene, these micron-scale devices have negligible band gaps and therefore large leakage currents.

Abstract

Evidence for using bicyclol in drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is limited. This study aimed to explore the efficacy and safety of bicyclol in acute DILI.This was a multicenter, randomized, double-blinded, double-dummy, active-controlled, superiority and phase II trial. Patients with idiosyncratic acute DILI were randomized 1: 1:1 to low-dose bicyclol (25 mg times a day [TID]), high-dose bicyclol (50 mg TID) and polyene phosphatidylcholine (control) groups. The primary endpoint was the decrease from baseline in serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels at post-treatment for 4 weeks.Overall, 241 patients were included in the full analysis set, with 81, 82 and 78 patients in the low-dose bicyclol, high-dose bicyclol, and control groups respectively. ALT levels decreased across groups (-249.2 ± 151.1, -273.6 ± 203.1, and -180.8 ± 218.2 U/L in the low-dose bicyclol, high-dose bicyclol and control groups, respectively; both p .001, the bicyclol-dependent groups vs. control group). The ALT normalization rates at weeks 1, 2, 4, 6 and 8 were higher in the bicyclol-dependent groups than in the control group (p = .002 at week 1 and all p .001 at weeks 2, 4, 6 and 8 respectively). The median times to ALT normalization in the low-dose bicyclol, high-dose bicyclol and control groups were 29, 16 and 43 days respectively. Adverse events, serious adverse events and adverse drug reactions were similar across groups.Bicyclol (25 and 50 mg TID) appeared efficacious and safe for treating idiosyncratic acute DILI, while bicyclol 50 mg TID showed higher efficacy.www.gov (registration no. Abstract

High-purity intermetallic β-Ti (FeTi4) and FeTi alloys were prepared via molten salt electrolysis from a titanium-containing waste slag and Fe2O3 mixture using molten CaCl2 salt as the electrolyte. The mixed slag powders were pressed into a pellet that served as a cathode, while a graphite rod served as an anode. The electrochemical process was conducted at 900 °C with a cell voltage of 3.1 V under an inert atmosphere. The formation process of the alloys and the influence of the Ti:Fe atomic ratio on the product were investigated. With an increased proportion of Ti, the phase of the product changed from FeTi/Fe2Ti to FeTi/FeTi4, and different structures were observed. At a Ti:Fe ratio of 1.2:1 in the raw slag, an alloy with a sponge-like morphology and a small amount of FeTi4 were obtained. During the initial stages of electrolysis, a large amount of intermediate product (CaTiO3) was formed, accompanied by an abrupt decrease in current and increase in particle size. The current then increased and Fe2Ti alloy was gradually formed. Finally, as the reaction process extended inside the pellet, the current remained stable and the product mainly contained FeTi and FeTi4 phases. The observed stages, i.e., CaTiO3(TiO2) → Fe2Ti(Ti) → FeTi(FeTi4), were consistent with the thermodynamic analysis.

Abstract

BACKGROUND Many nail cosmetics have components that are considered irritants or allergens. Due to the current clinical assessment limitations, it is often too late to identify nail enamel hazards until they cause disease. Thus, it is essential to investigate effective methods of detecting minor changes and early lesions in nails before they worsen. OBJECTIVES To provide a reliable method to investigate and evaluate nail enamel hazards on nails earlier using ultrasonic equipment. METHODS Eighty-three volunteers with smooth, lustrous nails were enrolled after being clinically examined. The thumbnails and middle nails were evaluated before and after using nail enamel for 2 weeks. Nail health was then assessed using three methods: clinical evaluation, nail surface image analysis, and an ultrasonic device. RESULTS Using clinical diagnostic and imaging methods for analyzing the nail surface showed no visible differences before and after using nail enamel for 2 weeks.
