Objective: to assess the association between caregivers' mental disorders and schoolchildren's obesogenic eating behavior. Methods: cross-sectional study used a public school-based sample of children and their primary caregivers. Caregivers had to report depressive episodes or generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) during the Mini-International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI). Children's obesogenic eating behavior were assessed using food responsiveness (FR) and emotional overeating (EOE) subscales of the Children's Eating Behaviour Questionnaire (CEBQ). Bivariate analysis was conducted using the t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation, and adjusted linear regression model was used (including variables caregivers: sex, age, economic indicator, and schooling; schoolchildren: sex and nutritional status). Results: study includes 596 children-caregiver dyads (309 boys and 287 girls). Among caregivers, 24.7% had experienced current depressive episodes, 38.7% had past depressive episodes, and 17.2% had GAD. We observed, after adjusted analysis, that having a caregiver in a current depressive episode, increases schoolchildren's obesogenic behavior of, for FR at 0.235 points (ß=0.235; CI95%=0.022-0.449;) and EOE at 0.337 points (ß=0.337; CI95%=0.162-0.512). Conclusion: caregivers' current depressive episodes were associated with higher averages of obesogenic eating behavior (caregiver-reported), both in consuming palatable food without feeling hungry (FR) and in increasing food intake in response to negative emotions (EOE). Objective: To assess the prevalence and associated factors, both of the child and the caregiver, with excess weight among schoolchildren in a city of south of Brazil. Materials and Methods: It is a cross-sectional study, with representative sample of schoolchildren. Twenty public schools were selected by systematic random sampling. We included schoolchildren who were seven and eight years old or who completed during the year of data collection, and their caregivers (responsible for the child). A sociodemographic data collection questionnaire was applied. Anthropometric data were collected for the calculation of body mass index, and nutritional status categorized according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Hypothesis tests were conducted by chi-square and adjusted by Poisson regression. Results: 596 children and their caregivers participated in the study. The prevalence of overweight was 20.4% and childhood obesity was 24.0%. Belonging to high-income families (p=0.031) and having overweight caregivers (p=0.004) or obesity (p=0.017) was associated with a higher prevalence of childhood overweight. Being female (p=0.002), belonging to middle income families (p=0.014) or high income (p=0.002) and having a caregiver with overweight (p<0.001) or obesity (p<0.001) was associated with a high prevalence of childhood obesity. Conclusion: We can conclude from these findings that almost half of the children evaluated were overweight or obese. Both overweight and obesity in childhood were associated with a higher economic status and nutritional status of the caregiver. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The relationship between obesity and suicide risk is still unclear with controversial research results. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between obesity and suicide risk for men and women in a population-based study of young adults. This is a cross-sectional population-based study that identified young adults between 18 and 35 years of age. Suicide risk was investigated through the structured clinical interview Mini. Weight and height were assessed, and participants were classified as normal-weight body mass index (BMI < 30) or obese (BMI > 30). The prevalence of obesity was of 19.9% of the total sample (n = 1953). Obesity was more prevalent among women and participants between 27 and 35 years of age. Suicide risk was present in 13.0% of the sample and more prevalent among women. In our study we found an association between obesity and suicide risk for women, but not for men. Obesity was associated with a higher prevalence of suicide risk in women. Given the strength of the relationship between BMI and suicide, identifying the mechanisms associated with obesity, especially for women, can lead to new insights into the prevention of suicide risk [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]

Background/objective: This research aims to investigate the circadian rhythm in individuals with COVID-19 and healthy controls. We tested the association between disruptions of biological rhythms and psychiatric symptoms. Methods/participants: This cross-sectional study included a sample of adults with COVID-19 and controls. Biological rhythms were assessed by the Biological Rhythms in Neuropsychiatry Assessment Interview (BRIAN), while depression, sleep quality, anxiety, and stress levels were analyzed using specific scales. Results: 96 cases and 199 controls were assessed. Compared to controls, the cases showed higher biological rhythms dysfunction, especially in the sleep, activity, and eating behavior domains. Cases showed higher levels of stress, depressive symptoms, and anxiety compared to controls. BRIAN scores were positively correlated with the severity of depressive symptoms, anxiety, insomnia, and stress. Conclusion: COVID-19 is associated with circadian rhythms disturbances. Disruptions in the biological rhythm were related to a higher presence of depressive symptoms, anxiety, and stress. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
