Introduction: Polymethylmethacrylate is a permanent filler product. Injecting this material into the face can lead to complications. The objective of this study is to determine in a series of cases the median time for complications to occur, the most affected areas, the types of complications, and the treatments most performed. Method: 209 cases of patients with complications related to the use of polymethyl methacrylate on the face who sought treatment between the period of January 2000 and June 2021 were studied. The data analyzed were gender, age, number of injections, moment of application, interval time until the complication arises, type of complication, affected region, and treatment performed. Results: The average age of patients was 45 years (23 to 79 years). Of these, 172 were women and 37 men. The number of applications ranged from 1 to 5. The median time for complications to appear was 71 months. The most affected regions were the malar, in 102 patients; mandibular, in 100; and zygomatic, in 91. Granuloma was observed in 135 patients; edema, in 120; and inflammation, in 78. The most common treatment was corticosteroid injection, in 111 patients, followed by surgical removal, in 40. Conclusion: The results can serve as a knowledge base for a better understanding of complications with the use of polymethylmethacrylate in the face.

Este trabalho tem o objetivo de compreender de que maneira os povos indígenas brasileiros são apresentados nas coleções de livros didáticos (LD) de Matemática dos Anos Iniciais do Ensino Fundamental. Adota uma abordagem fenomenológica, contextualizada na metodologia qualitativa. As categorias obtidas foram: Apoio didático-pedagógico ao professor para o trabalho sobre os povos indígenas; Contextos indígenas em diálogo com conteúdos matemáticos; Modo crítico e reflexivo de apresentar e trabalhar a temática indígena nos LD; Visão colonizadora e displicência em relação à temática indígena nos LD. Conclui-se que, apesar da tentativa de debater a interculturalidade, valorizar a cultura e romper preconceitos contra povos indígenas, muitos livros desconsideram a importância de abordar o tema ou o tratam de modo superficial.

Objective To identify the best evidence on the efficacy of pharmacological interventions in reducing fatigue in people with inflammatory rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (I-RMDs) and to summarise their safety in the identified studies to inform European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology recommendations for the management of fatigue in people with I-RMDs.Methods Systematic review of adults with I-RMDs conducted according to the Cochrane Handbook. Search strategy ran in Medline, Embase, Cochrane Library, CINAHL Complete, PEDro, OTseeker and PsycINFO. Only randomised controlled trials (RCTs) or controlled clinical trials were eligible. Assessment of risk of bias, data extraction and synthesis performed by two reviewers independently and in duplicate. Data pooled in statistical meta-analyses.Results From 4151 records, 455 were selected for full-text review, 99 fulfilled the inclusion criteria and 19 RCTs were included in meta-analyses. Stress has emerged as a major concern in modern society, significantly impacting human health and well-being. Statistical evidence underscores the extensive social influence of stress, especially in terms of work-related stress and associated healthcare costs. This paper addresses the critical need for accurate stress detection, emphasising its far-reaching effects on health and social dynamics. Focusing on remote stress monitoring, it proposes an efficient deep learning approach for stress detection from facial videos. In contrast to the research on wearable devices, this paper proposes novel Hybrid Deep Learning (DL) networks for stress detection based on remote photoplethysmography (rPPG), employing (Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), Gated Recurrent Units (GRU), 1D Convolutional Neural Network (1D-CNN)) models with hyperparameter optimisation and augmentation techniques to enhance performance. The proposed approach yields a substantial improvement in accuracy and efficiency in stress detection, achieving up to 95.83% accuracy with the UBFC-Phys dataset while maintaining excellent computational efficiency. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed Hybrid DL models for rPPG-based-stress detection.

GIS are an essential element in archaeology. Their use has become widespread for their potential to store, reference, analyse and visualise spatial information. Nonetheless, to the best of our knowledge, a systematic review of academic peer-reviewed publications related to the use of GIS, as a framework, in archaeology has never been presented before. Our goal in this work is to identify what has been published so far in relation to using GIS in archaeology within a small selected sample. We used the PRISMA guideline to perform a systematic review of 671 publications that we identified using the SCOPUS database and the keywords ‘GIS’ and ‘archaeology’. The collected publications were screened, analysed, and categorized into different relevant categories. Our analysis shows that GIS, in our selected sample, are mostly used for visualization and information management tasks. Moreover, spatial analysis studies were more common than other studies, and theoretical publications are scarce. The lack of a theoretical background in GIS may be the cause of some of the problems related to GIS applications in archaeology.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Thulium Fiber Laser (TFL) is the most modern technology to treat nephrolithiasis and ureterolithiasis in endourology. Although there are a lot of new studies coming up, we still don't have data on how this laser works in some rare diseases. Cystinuria is the most common genetic nephrolithiasis disorder (1), known for its recurrent lithiasis (2). Our main goal in this video is to show a successful case of cystine calculi treated with Thulium Fiber Laser (Laser Fiber Dust/Quanta System™). Materials and Methods: A 25 years-old male, cystinuric, presented with a CT scan, showing a 10mm stone on the right side and two calculi 6 and 7 mm on the left side, all located in the lower calyx. Bilateral flexible ureteroscopy was done using a reusable digital flexible ureteroscope. Starting on the left side, we repositioned the stone from the lower to the upper calyx, using a tipless front opening basket. Lithotripsy was performed using TFL. Settings were 100 Hz (frequency) and 100 mJ (energy) for dusting. Popcorn technique was also used, setting the laser at 100Hz and 200 mJ, obtaining good dusting. On the right side, lithotripsy was performed in the inferior calyx, also resulting in “snowstorm”. Procedure time was 120 minutes. Results: The postoperative was uneventful. Follow up CT showed a 3 mm residual fragment in the right kidney. Conclusion: This video demonstrates the treatment of bilateral cystine calculi with Thulium Fiber Laser. Reasonable procedure time and excellent dusting results are encouraging, pointing towards great improvements in endourology.

Cutaneous tuberculosis is a rare manifestation of extrapulmonary tuberculosis caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis in most cases and rarely by Mycobacterium bovis. Diagnosis may be challenging due to a wide range of clinical findings and similarities to other chronic dermatoses, leading to delayed treatment. The study of isotopic ratios in planetary atmospheres gives an insight into the formation history and evolution of these objects. The more we can constrain these ratios, the better we can understand the history and future of our solar system. To help in this endeavour, we used Infrared Space Observatory Short Wavelength Spectrometer (ISO/SWS) Jupiter observations in the 793–1500 cm−1 region together with the Nonlinear Optimal Estimator for MultivariatE Spectral analySIS (NEMESIS) radiative transfer suite to retrieve the temperature–pressure profile and the chemical abundances for various chemical species. We also used the 1500–2499 cm−1 region to determine the cloud and aerosol structure of the upper troposphere. We obtained a best-fit simulated spectrum with χ2/N=0.47 for the 793–1500 cm−1 region and χ2/N=0.71 for the 1500–2499 cm−1 region. From the retrieved methane abundances, we obtained, within a 1σ uncertainty, a 12C/13C ratio of 84 ± 27 and a D/H ratio of (3.5 ± 0.6) × 10−5, and these ratios are consistent with other published results from the literature.

We present a new study of Jupiter’s atmosphere dynamics using for the first time the extremely high-resolution capabilities of VLT/ESPRESSO to retrieve wind velocities in Jupiter’s troposphere, with a dedicated ground-based Doppler velocimetry method. This work is primarily a proof-of-concept for retrieving Jupiter’s winds using VLT/ESPRESSO Doppler velocities. These results are complemented by a re-analysis of Cassini’s data from its fly-by of Jupiter in December 2000, performing cloud tracking at visible wavelengths, for cross comparison with Doppler velocimetry results, along with previous cloud-tracking results. We explore the effectiveness of this refined method to measure winds in Jupiter, using high-resolution spectroscopy data obtained from ESPRESSO observations performed in July 2019, with a Doppler velocimetry method based on backscattered solar radiation in the visible range. Coupled with our ground-based results, we retrieved a latitudinal and longitudinal profile of Jupiter’s winds along select bands of the atmosphere. Comparing the results between cloud-tracking methods, based on previous reference observations, and our new Doppler velocimetry approach, we found a good agreement between them, demonstrating the effectiveness of this technique. The winds obtained in this exploratory study have a two-fold relevance: they contribute to the temporal and spatial variability study of Jupiter’s troposphere dynamics, and the results presented here also validate the use of this Doppler technique to study the dynamics of Jupiter’s atmosphere and pave the way for further exploration of a broader region of Jupiter’s disk for a more comprehensive retrieval of winds and to evaluate their spatial and temporal variability.
