We conducted a survey about moral thinking at the abstract level of students of the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad, Serbia. Our comprised sample 1.057 students who finished a secondary school and begin their studies. Seven questions which describe their moral thinking indicate to their moral thinking at the abstract level. When we performed the exploratory factor on the randomly selected sample half, analysis showed us the existence of two independent patterns which best describe their moral thinking at the abstract level. The first pattern is called AUTHENTIC PATTERN and the second pattern is called EGOISTIC PATTERN. Also, our results showed us that female respondents have significantly higher second pattern activation level. Performed confirmatory factor analysis on second half of our sample confirmed this factor structure. This research shows that during the process of moral thinking at the abstract level both patterns are activated simultaneously (analogy with the computer dual core processor) and that difference in their activation level determinate direction of someone's moral behavior. Putting in this way this model overcomes gap between moral thinking and moral acting. Research has shown that EGOISTIC PATTERN activation level during the process of moral thinking at the abstract level is more dominant among women of the same age, which means that women's process of moral thinking at the abstract level is prone to the influences of the environment, so they more develop moral thinking that is a product of environmental influences. On the other hand, AUTHENTIC PATTERN activation level during the process of moral thinking at the abstract level is higher among male respondents, whereas their EGOISTIC PATTERN activation level is quite below the average. These findings coincide with the findings obtained so far related to the gender difference in the process of ethical decision-making. These findings also shed a new light on the nature of the difference since women are more ethical with respect to a cultural model or a philosophical construct. We have unsolved problem of thinking-acting gap problem. One fresh theory (Belimp theory) created by Petrides (2011) provides us fruitful approach to this problem. Also We conducted an on-line survey to investigate the professor's idea of "morality" and then to compare their moral thinking at the abstract level with their moral thinking in the real life situations by sampling 257 professors from the University of Novi Sad. . Our results show (after we performed exploratory factor analysis) that the professor's idea of "morality" consists of the three moral thinking patterns which are simultaneously activated during the process of their abstract moral thinking. We have identified these patterns in the following manner: deontological, formal and subjective pattern. In addition, our results show that of the three, the subjective pattern is more activated than the other two during their process of the moral thinking at the abstract level. We also discovered that there is a statistically significant difference (Bandura, 1987) between professor's moral thinking patterns activation level at the abstract level and their moral thinking patterns activation level in the real life situation. The results, thus, confirmed general hypothesis of this research and showed that the investigation of moral thinking, without inclusion of dimension of activation and deactivation of the mechanism of moral control (Bandura, 1986), does not shed adequate light on this aspect of human behavior.
