Superadditivity property of the Jensen functional is put in relation to the Csiszar divergence functional. Monotonicity of the Jensen functional and speci fic bounds obtained consequently, via interpolating Jensen inequalities, reflect within well known f-divergences. The analyzed inequalities are presented for the Zipf- Mandelbrot law and accentuated for its special form, the Zipf law with its interdisciplinary role.

Using Jensen’s inequality and the converse Jensen’s inequality for superquadratic functions we obtain new estimates for Shannon’s entropy of the random variable X and derive new lower and upper bounds for the Shannon entropy in the terms of the Zipf and Zipf - Mandelbrot’s law.

U radu je bibliometrijskim metodama analiziran časopis National Security and The Future. Obrađeno je razdoblje od prvog broja časopisa objavljenog 2000. godine do zadnjeg broja objavljenog u 2018. godini. Analizirana građa je prikupljena s portala HRČAK (Portal hrvatskih znanstvenih i stručnih časopisa) ili sa stranice samog časopisa. Ukupno je prikupljeno i analizirano objavljenih 257 članaka, koje potpisuje 134 različita autora tijekom 19 godina izlaženja časopisa. Analizom su obuhvaćeni različiti parametri od autora, čitanost časopisa do ključnih riječi i supojavnosti ključnih riječi točnije pojavnosti i supojavnosti obrađenih tema.

In this paper we derive some Jensen and Edmundson-Lah-Ribaric type inequalities for positive linear functionals without the assumption about the convexity of the functions that are involved. General results are then applied to generalized f-divergence functional. Examples with Zipf's law and Zipf-Mandelbrot law are given.

An integrated approach to Shannon entropy and to Zipf and Zipf-Mandelbrot law is presented via the method of interpolating Jensen-type inequalities. It is extended to a wider class of divergences that originate from the Csiszar divergence functional with some specific applications concerning Zipf law and its significant role in linguistics.

Csiszár introduced the concept of f-divergence functional as generalized measure of information on the set of probability distribution. We established a new lower and upper bound for f-divergence functional using some basic convexity facts. As special cases and corollaries of our bounds we establishe lower and upper bounds for some well-known entropies as well as Shannon's and relative entropy also known as the Kullback-Leibler divergence. As applications we also use the Zipf-Mandelbrot law to introduce a new entropy and to derive some new related results.

In this paper, we give the generalized results for majorization inequality in integral form by using Csisz ́ar f -divergence. We show how the Shannon entropy is connected to the theory of majorization. We also give Shannon entropy and the Kullback-Leibler divergence for obtained results. As applications, we present the ma- jorization inequality for various distances like variational distance, Hellinger distance, χ2-divergence, Bhattacharyya distance, Harmonic distance, Jeffreys distance and trian- gular discrimination which obtain by applying some special type of convex functions.

Relatively small number of scientists receives large number of citations. Researches of most cited authors who form scientific elite are often. What is rare are researches of co-authorship of most cited authors. In this paper we research co-authorship networks of most cited authors in information science in Croatia. Overview of social characteristics of co-authorship networks or whether authors and co-authors belong to the university or research institute is given. Also, position of most cited authors in co-authorship networks is researched: a) order of co-authors and their position in the scientific elite according to time periods ; b) the institutional affiliation ; c) international collaboration. We try to use bibliometric methods for detecting, identifying and visualizing social, institutional and intellectual networks and impact of scientific elite

Common practice today is to evaluate scientific production and influence of scientists through the Journal Impact Factor and citations of scientific papers. In this way, the Science Citation Index (SCI) and Current Contents (CC) have also become the main criterion for evaluating national scientific production. The consequence of this approach is that we have no insight into the overall scientific production in certain countries or certain scientific fields. The aim of this work was to give review of the overall scientific production in Croatia. Analysis of productions of Croatian scientists was done on the corpus to 413, 855 bibliographic units registered in the Croatian scientific bibliography database (CROSBI) in the period from 1997 to 2014. The Croatian scientific bibliography database (CROSBI) provides the most comprehensive presentation of scientific production in Croatia, and analyzes the productivity of the scientific community, by scientific fields and duration of research projects. Also, with an analysis of the dominant types of scientific papers in various scientific fields (book, journal, book chapter, proceedings, etc.). In contrast to the evaluation of science and scientists by citation database and Impact Factor, complete analysis of scientific production provides a presentation of the whole scientific activity and responsibilities of scientists and university academics, whose task is to be mentors to doctoral candidates and young researchers who are typically involved in research projects, as well as writing textbooks, reviews etc. The understanding of the scientific production of any scientific community requires new methods for evaluation of scientific efficiency. Most commonly used as an indicator, Impact Factor allows only fragmentary approach and usually only evaluation of the international impact of certain scientists and journals

What we investigate in this paper is a theoretical frame common to disciplines that research form of public knowledge, respectively common methodological approach to a series of activities that aim is not only to form public knowledge, but also have a the duty to provide information superiority. The proposed theoretical approach enables understanding and interpretation of the impact of modern information strategies (information and media operations (IO, MO)) on corpuses of public knowledge. IO and MO are focused on specific cognitive domains of target audience, and the effects of such formed information and communication systems have a direct effect on the organization of the targeted corpuses of (public) knowledge. Low intensity conflicts (LIC) become the dominant form and way of dealing with international and local threats. The articulation of national information strategies should ensure political, economic, cultural and military domination of the actors on the global scene. National, as well as business, information doctrines and strategies define offensive and defensive methods and techniques of usage of information resources with aim to ensure information superiority. Superiority in weapons and lethal means is replaced by the superiority in the information and technical and technological development. Superiority in controlling and monitoring of the battlefield turned into a superiority and control of the media space. Battlefield is no longer dependent on space and time. Battlefields are media, and ICT space in which different IO/MO can last for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 12 months a year.

An increasing amount of students and scholars use web references as a prime source in their papers. The main concern is that those references have a short lifespan. In retrospect to that, the aim of this article is to show how many of the web references, gathered in a corpus of 1947 web references within 362 graduate papers at the Department of Information Sciences at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb in the period from 2003 to 2010, are no longer active, i.e. accessible. It was also substantial to know how many of the web references have disappeared in the period between two researches. The main hypothesis is that there has been an increase in the number of inactive web references within the aforementioned corpus. It is expected that the highest number of inactive web references is present in the graduate papers that have been written during the first half of the analysed period, i.e. more time has passed since those references have been accessed. As well as the availability of the web references, certain bibliographic data were also analysed, where it is predicted that according to the type of web references web pages are more likely to be inactive than any other types such as scientific articles, etc. In response to that, it is expected that the web sites of inactive web references are non-scientific in snature. The analysis of the presence of authors and publishers among inactive web references is also included
