BackgroundCurrent strategies for preventing severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection are limited to nonpharmacologic interventions. Hydroxychloroquine has been proposed as a postexposure therapy to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), but definitive evidence is lacking. MethodsWe conducted an open-label, cluster-randomized trial involving asymptomatic contacts of patients with polymerase-chain-reaction (PCR)-confirmed Covid-19 in Catalonia, Spain. We randomly assigned clusters of contacts to the hydroxychloroquine group (which received the drug at a dose of 800 mg once, followed by 400 mg daily for 6 days) or to the usual-care group (which received no specific therapy). The primary outcome was PCR-confirmed, symptomatic Covid-19 within 14 days. The secondary outcome was SARS-CoV-2 infection, defined by symptoms compatible with Covid-19 or a positive PCR test regardless of symptoms. Adverse events were assessed for up to 28 days. ResultsThe analysis included 2314 healthy contacts of 672 index case patients with Covid-19 who were identified between March 17 and April 28, 2020. A total of 1116 contacts were randomly assigned to receive hydroxychloroquine and 1198 to receive usual care. Results were similar in the hydroxychloroquine and usual-care groups with respect to the incidence of PCR-confirmed, symptomatic Covid-19 (5.7% and 6.2%, respectively; risk ratio, 0.86 [95% confidence interval, 0.52 to 1.42]). In addition, hydroxychloroquine was not associated with a lower incidence of SARS-CoV-2 transmission than usual care (18.7% and 17.8%, respectively). The incidence of adverse events was higher in the hydroxychloroquine group than in the usual-care group (56.1% vs. 5.9%), but no treatment-related serious adverse events were reported. ConclusionsPostexposure therapy with hydroxychloroquine did not prevent SARS-CoV-2 infection or symptomatic Covid-19 in healthy persons exposed to a PCR-positive case patient. There was no significant difference in the primary outcome of PCR-confirmed, symptomatic Covid-19 disease (6.2% usual care vs. 5.7% HCQ; risk ratio 0.89 [95% confidence interval 0.54-1.46]), nor evidence of beneficial effects on prevention of SARS-CoV-2 transmission (17.8% usual care vs. 18.7% HCQ). The incidence of AEs was higher in the intervention arm than in the control arm (5.9% usual care vs 51.6% HCQ), but no treatment-related serious AEs were reported. Conclusions Postexposure therapy with HCQ did not prevent SARS-CoV-2 disease and infection in healthy individuals exposed to a PCR-positive case. Background: No therapeutics have yet been proven effective for the treatment of mild-illness caused by SARS-CoV-2. We assessed the efficacy and safety of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) alone or in combination with cobicistat-boosted darunavir (DRVc) for treating patients with mild Covid-19. Methods: We conducted a randomized, prospective, controlled, open-label trial in three health regions of Catalonia. After confirmation of a case of Covid-19 disease, we enumerated on a list a ring of the case and all their contacts and randomly assigned the ring to either control or intervention arm on a 1:1 ratio. Here we present the methods concerning eligible index cases, which involved non-hospitalized adult patients with recently confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection and less than seven days of symptoms. Patients were assigned to receive HCQ (800 mg on day 1, followed by 400 mg once daily for six days) in combination with DRVc (800 mg/150 mg tablets, once daily for seven days) or no antiviral treatment. The protocol was adapted during the course of the trial to use HCQ alone after findings of no benefit of the protease inhibitor lopinavir-ritonavir. Study outcomes were the reduction of viral RNA load in nasopharyngeal swabs and time to clinical improvement within 28 days of follow-up in the per-protocol population. Adverse events were assessed up to 28 days. Findings: Between Mar 17 and Apr 28, 2020, 353 Covid-19 patients met the criteria for the per-protocol analysis: 165 in the control arm and 142 in the intervention arm. The median time from symptom onset to treatment start was 3 days (IQR 2–4). The per-protocol analysis revealed no significant differences in the mean reduction of viral load in nasopharyngeal swabs at day-3 compared to baseline between the control group (-1·28 Log 10 copies/mL, SD 1·68) and the intervention group (-1·47, SD 1·50); difference -0·18 [95% CI -0.59 to 0·22]. The same pattern was observed at day-7 and -14 after treatment. Time to complete alleviation of symptoms was similar in both groups (22 vs. 20·5 days, p = 0·37). Adverse events included self-limited nausea and diarrhea. Twenty patients required hospitalization, all due to Covid-19 progression. No patients died during the study. Interpretation: In patients with mild Covid-19, no benefit was observed with HCQ alone or in combination with DRVc beyond the usual care. Background: Women infected with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) are at increased risk of developing precancerous and cancerous lesions in cervix because of persistence of oncogenic human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. Scarce information about the HPV genotypes attributed to cervical cancer in the HIV-infected population is available, especially in countries with a low prevalence of this pathology. Objective: The objective of the study was to assess the prevalence and distribution of HPV types, and the viral integration of HPV-16 and HPV-18 in cervical squamous cell carcinoma of HIV-infected and HIV-negative women. Methods: A total of 140 formaldehyde-fixed paraffin-embedded specimens from 31 HIV-infected and 109 matched HIV-negative women, with a diagnosis of in situ or invasive cervical carcinoma, were identified between 1987 and 2010 from different hospitals of the Barcelona area, Spain. Human papillomavirus genotyping and integration were analyzed by standardized polymerase chain reaction. Results: Similar prevalence and distribution of HPV genotypes were detected in cervical cancers (in situ and invasive) regardless of HIV condition. The most common types were as follows: HPV-16 (58% in HIV-positive vs 72% in HIV-negative) and HPV-33 (16% vs 8%). In invasive cervical carcinoma, HPV-18 was significantly more prevalent in HIV-positive women (14% vs 1%; P = 0.014). The proportion of samples with integrated forms of HPV-16 (39% vs 45%) and HPV-18 (50% vs 50%) was similar in both groups. Conclusions: The prevalence and distribution of principal HPV types involved in the carcinogenesis process of the cervix were similar in HIV-infected and noninfected women, although a tendency toward a lower HPV-16 and a higher HPV-18 prevalence in invasive cervical carcinoma was detected in HIV-positive women. Similar percentage of HPV-16 and HPV-18 viral integration was found in formaldehyde-fixed paraffin-embedded specimens of cervical cancer regardless of the HIV infection status.

Aim: To study the epidemiology of different human papillomavirus (HPV) genotypes in cervical samples of HIV-1-infected women with normal Papanicolau smears. Design: Retrospective analysis of a prospective cohort. Patients and Methods: We selected HIV-1-infected women with 2 consecutive normal Papanicolau smears at baseline and at least 1 baseline and 1 follow-up cervical sample. HPV infection was assessed by second-generation hybrid capture (HC-2) and multiplex polymerase chain reaction (mPCR). HPV genotypes were determined by mPCR. Results: From a cohort of 139 women followed up to 4 years, 93 women meeting the inclusion criteria were analyzed. The mean period between samples was 20 months (range, 6-44 months). HPV baseline prevalence was 63% [59/93; 95% confidence interval (CI), 53% to 73%] using polymerase chain reaction and 41% (38/93; 95% CI, 31% to 51%) using HC-2, P = 0.007 (kappa, 0.45; P = 0.001). The most prevalent high oncogenic risk genotypes (HR-HPV) were HPV-16 (28%), HPV-33 (18%), HPV-52 (12%), HPV-58 (11%), and HPV-39 (11%). Infection with multiple HPV genotypes was detected in >40% of women. HPV infection persisted at follow-up in 86% (51/59; 95% CI, 77% to 95%) by polymerase chain reaction and 76% (29/38; 95% CI, 62% to 90%) by HC-2. HPV infection persisted in 55% of women with samples available beyond 3 years. The actuarial probabilities of clearance and incidence of HPV infection at 36 months were 16% and 45%, respectively. Conclusions: HPV infection is highly prevalent and persistent among HIV-1-infected women with normal Papanicolau smears. HR-HPV genotypes other than HPV-16 (HPV-33, HPV-52) are frequently detected in HIV-infected women. mPCR provides better surveillance of HPV infection than HC-2 methods.

Background Despite being deliberately targeted to common chromosome aneuploidies, the rapid quantitative fluorescent polymerase chain reaction (QF-PCR) tests can detect the majority of chromosome abnormalities in prenatal diagnosis. The main advantages of this assay are low cost, speed and automation allowing large-scale application. Methods We developed a QF-PCR test that was applied on 43 000 clinical samples reporting results in 24 h. Most common indications were biochemical risk (32%) and advanced maternal age (30%). Samples were also tested by cytogenetic analysis and the results compared. Results Aneuploidies involving chromosomes 21, 18, 13, X and Y were detected with 100% specificity. Several cases of partial trisomies and mosaicism were also identified. Overall 95% of clinically relevant abnormalities were readily detected and termination of affected pregnancies could be performed without waiting for the cytogenetic results. Conclusions Our study supports the possibility of reducing the load of prenatal cytogenetic tests if the pregnancies are carefully monitored by non-invasive screening. In case of abnormal QF-PCR results, medical action can be taken within few hours from sampling. In cases of negative QF-PCR results, cytogenetic analyses might only be performed for fetuses with ultrasound abnormalities. In countries where large-scale cytogenetic tests are not available, QF-PCR may be used as the only prenatal diagnostic procedure.

Objective To investigate amniotic fluid (AF) samples retrieved in multiple pregnancies by single insertion of the needle, for rapid assessment of chromosome copy number, zygosity, and cross-contamination between fetuses, using Quantitative Fluorescent Polymerase Chain Reaction (QF-PCR) amplification of highly polymorphic microsatellite markers. Methods Fifty-two multiple pregnancies were selected (47 twins, 5 triplets) and 108 samples of amniotic fluid were sampled between 12 to 20 weeks of gestation (mean 15.5) using the single-needle technique. Aneuploidy screening by QF-PCR amplification of short tandem repeats (STRs) on chromosomes X, Y, 21, 13, and 18 was carried out within 24 h of collection. Owing to the sampling procedure, the eventual presence of contamination between fetuses was also evaluated in every case. Results Normal and aneuploid fetuses were readily identified by QF-PCR. Fetal reduction was made available, for trisomic fetuses, without further waiting for completion of fetal karyotyping. In twin gestations, the ultrasound examination of chorionicity was always in agreement with the molecular assessment of zygosity. Contamination between fetuses due to the sampling procedure with a single puncture was never observed. Conclusion Rapid prenatal diagnosis of aneuploidies by QF-PCR is a sensitive, efficient, and reliable assay. When applied in multiple pregnancies, it has the added value of allowing the assessment of zygosity in all cases, independently of chorionicity and fetal sex. The clinical application of quantitative fluorescent polymerase chain reaction (QF-PCR) for rapid prenatal detection of chromosome aneuploidies has been limited in most studies to the detection of autosomal trisomies. Recently it has been shown that a newly identified highly polymorphic marker, termed X22, which maps to the Xq/Yq pseudoautosomal region of the sex chromosomes, used together with the X-linked short tandem repeat (STR) HPRT, allows the accurate detection of gonosome aneuploidies. We have developed a rapid assay, which includes these STR markers together with a sequence of the amelogenin region of the sex chromosomes and selected highly polymorphic autosomal STR. Two more X chromosome markers, as yet not used in previous QF-PCR applications, were also included in the assay. The molecular test was then used in a clinical trial on 551 uncultured amniotic fluid samples, allowing the assessment of copy number for chromosomes X, Y and 21 in 100% of cases. In the course of this study, two fetuses with Turner's syndrome and one with Klinefelter's syndrome were identified along with 17 autosomal trisomies. The assay proved to be so efficient and reliable that in most aneuploidy cases, in which ultrasound findings were in agreement with the molecular result, therapeutical interventions were possible without waiting for the result of cytogenetic analysis.

Fundamento La identificacion de grupos de alto riesgo para infeccion genital por el virus del papi-loma humano puede contribuir a la prevencion precoz del carcinoma de cuello uterino. El estudio fue disenado para estimar la prevalencia y factores determinantes de infeccion por el virus del papiloma humano cervical y el riesgo de cancer de cuello uterino en reclusas en regimen preventivo. Pacientes y metodo Se estudiaron 157 mujeres a su ingreso en el Centro Penitenciario de Mujeres de Barcelona. Se les realizaron visita ginecologica, entrevista estructurada, exfoliado cervical y muestra de sangre para la deteccion del virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana (VIH) y virus de la hepatitis B y C. La infeccion por el virus del papiloma humano se determino me-diante reaccion en cadena de la polimerasa. Resultados La prevalencia de ADN del virus del papiloma humano fue del 46%. El 38,2% de las mujeres afirmaron haber practicado la prostitucion y el 64,3% ser usuarias de drogas por via parenteral (UDVP). El 56,1% fueron seropositivas para el VIH. La citologia cervical revelo que 19 mujeres (12,1%) presentaban alteraciones escamosas de significado desconocido y 28 (17,7%), lesiones escamosas intraepiteliales (todos los grados). La infeccion del virus del papiloma humano se asocio a UDVP durante mas de 10 anos (odds ratio de la prevalencia [POR] = 2,9) y a seropositividad por VIH (POR = 4,7). El aumento de riesgo para lesiones escamosas in-traepiteliales asociado a VIH se explica por la presencia de virus del papiloma humano. Las mujeres positivas para el VIH con recuento bajo de CD4 podrian tener mayor riesgo de presentar lesiones escamosas intraepiteliales. Conclusiones Las mujeres con VIH constituyen un grupo de alto riesgo para el virus del papiloma humano y, consecuentemente, para el desarrollo de lesiones preneoplasicas del cervix. Se recomienda un control ginecologico frecuente en las mujeres positivas para el VIH y el virus del papiloma humano.

The concordance of the prevalence of human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA in 188 sex workers in five different locations was investigated. HPV was found in 43.6% of the women, and its prevalence at genital sites was similar. Prevalence was highest among women aged 20 years or younger but declined thereafter in specimens from all anogenital sites.

Objective. The detection of paternally inherited sequences in maternal plasma, such as the SRY gene for fetal sexing or RHD for fetal blood group genotyping, is becoming part of daily routine in diagnostic laboratories. Due to the low percentage of fetal DNA, it is crucial to ensure sample stability and the efficiency of DNA extraction. We evaluated blood stability at 4°C for at least 24 hours and automated DNA extraction, for fetal sex determination in maternal plasma.Methods. A total of 158 blood samples were collected, using EDTA-K tubes, from women in their 1st trimester of pregnancy. Samples were kept at 4°C for at least 24 hours before processing. An automated DNA extraction was evaluated, and its efficiency was compared with a standard manual procedure. The SRY marker was used to quantify cfDNA by real-time PCR.Results. Although lower cfDNA amounts were obtained by automated DNA extraction (mean 107,35 GE/mL versus 259,43 GE/mL), the SRY sequence was successfully detected in all 108 samples from pregnancies with male fetuses.Conclusion. We successfully evaluated the suitability of standard blood tubes for the collection of maternal blood and assessed samples to be suitable for analysis at least 24 hours later. This would allow shipping to a central reference laboratory almost from anywhere in Europe.

Aim The aim of this study was to characterize the natural history of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection at anal canal, penile, and oral sites in HIV-positive men based on their sexual behavior. Methods This is a single-center, prospective cohort study. The prevalence, clearance, and incidence of HPV infection at anal, penile, and oral sites were studied in HIV-positive men who have sex with men (MSM) and heterosexual individuals using multiplex polymerase chain reaction. Risk factors associated with HPV infection were analyzed. Results In total, 733 patients (538 MSM, 195 heterosexual) were included in the study between 2005 and 2009. The prevalence, clearance, and incidence of HPV infection were 73%, 30%, and 36% at anal site; 26%, 56%, and 17% at penile site; and 16%, 44%, and 11% at oral site, respectively. At anal site, MSM had a higher HPV prevalence (84% vs. 42%; odds ratio,7.3; 95% confidence interval [CI], 5.2-10.6) mainly for multiple (≥3) HPV types, higher incidence rate (324 vs. 92 new HPV-infected person per 1000 person-years [hazard ratio, 8.1; 95% CI, 3.8-17.3]), and a lower clearance rate (125 vs. 184 cleared HPV-infected person per 1000 person-years [hazard ratio, 0.5; 95% CI, 0.3-0.9]) than did heterosexuals. Similar prevalence, clearance, and incidence rates of penile and oral HPV infection were found between groups. The most common high-risk HPV type for the 3 body sites studied was the HPV-16. Finally, a similar proportion of heterosexuals (7%) and MSM (6%) presented concurrent HPV infections (anal-penile-oral sites). History of anal warts was associated with higher HPV prevalence in the 3 body parts. Conclusions Although MSM presented the highest risk of anal HPV infection, heterosexual men also showed a remarkable prevalence of anal HPV infection and a comparable risk to MSM for penile and oral HPV infection. Taking into account all these results, the careful inspection of the anal canal, penile, and oral sites should at least be routine in each clinic visit of HIV-infected men independently of their sexual behavior.

Human papillomavirus genotyping is being considered in cervical screening programs and for monitoring the effectiveness of HPV vaccination. Both approaches require access to fast, easy and high-throughput technology. The aim of this study was to compare a new commercial assay (f-HPV typing™) with the Hybrid Capture II® (HC2) to detect HPV infection. The F-HPV typing is a multiplex fluorescent PCR method recognizing E6 and E7 regions of 13 high-risk (HR) HPV types, the same set of HR-types targeted HC2 test. A subset of 157 cervical samples was tested with both assays. The percentage of positive HR-HPV DNA samples was 24% (37/155) by HC2 and 33% (49/155) by f-HPV typing. Concordant results were found in 133/155 (overall agreement, 85.8%; Cohen's kappa=0.65). The analytical sensitivity and specificity of f-HPV were 97.6 and 93, respectively. In conclusion, this study shows that the f-HPV assay provides a good alternative to HC2 to detect HPV infection, allowing simple and rapid HPV genotyping and detecting multiple infections.

BACKGROUND The integration of HPV-16 DNA into the host genome is considered an important event in the progression of premalignant cervical lesions to cervical cancer. The aim of our study was to assess the prevalence of HPV-16 integration in anal cytologic specimens of HIV-1 infected men and its association with risk factors. PATIENTS METHODS: This cross-sectional study included 269 HIV-infected males. Detection and typing of HPV-infection was done by multiplex PCR, and integration of HPV-16 by real-time PCR. RESULTS The overall anal HPV-infection prevalence was 78% (209/269), 29% (77/269) for HPV-16 infection, and 9% (25/269) for HPV-16 integration. In HPV-16 infected group, the integration prevalence represented 32% (25/77). The only risk factor associated with HPV-16 integration was the time since HIV diagnosis (OR = 1.2, 95% CI: 1.0-1.3; P = 0.010). The risk factors associated with abnormal cytology results were: HPV infection (OR = 17.8, 95% CI: 6.8-46.6), HPV-16 infection (OR = 4.6, 95% CI: 2.5-8.4), and presence of HPV-16 integrated forms (OR = 11.7, 95% CI: 1.5-93.5). Moreover, in the multivariate analysis, the HPV-16 integration continued representing the most important risk factor (OR = 20, 95% CI: 1.6-226) for anal cytologic abnormalities. CONCLUSION HPV-16 infection and its integration in anal cells were highly prevalent in HIV-infected men. The assessment of HPV-16 integration rather than HPV-infection could be a good biomarker for predicting anal precancerous lesions in HIV-positive men.

Rapid prenatal diagnoses of major chromosome abnormalities can be performed on a large scale using highly polymorphic short tandem repeats (STRs) amplified by the quantitative fluorescent polymerase chain reaction (QF-PCR). The assay was introduced as a preliminary investigation to remove the anxiety of the parents waiting for the results by conventional cytogenetic analysis using amniotic fluid or chorionic cells. However, recent studies, on the basis of the analyses of several thousand samples, have shown that this rapid approach has a very high rate of success and could reduce the need for cytogenetic investigations. Its high efficiency, for example, allows early interruption of affected fetuses without the need of waiting for completion of fetal karyotype. The main advantages of the QF-PCR are its accuracy, speed, automation, and low cost that allows very large number of samples to be analyzed by few operators. Here, we report the results of using QF-PCR in a large series of consecutive clinical cases and discuss the possibility that, in a near future, it may even replace conventional cytogenetic analyses on selected samples.

Detection of high-risk human papillomavirus types (HPV) infection is an important tool in the screening of cervical cancer and triage of cytological abnormalities. The different techniques for detection of this cancer need to be contrasted and validated for use in population screening.Cervical cell samples were collected from 166 women attending a dermatology clinic in Oviedo (Spain). We evaluated the performance of three different assays for VPH detection. The methods utilized were 1) In-house PCR-EIA using LI consensus primers MY09/ MY11, 2) A PCR-reverse line blot hybridization (PCR-LBH) that uses LI consensus PGMY primers. 3) Hybrid Capture 2. All assays were performed blinded. The kappa statistic was used to test for global agreement between assay pairs.HPV DNA was detected in 24,7%, 25,3% and 29,5% of the women, respective to the assay. The overall agreement between the in-house PCR, PCR-LBH and HC2 was (73.5%) with all kappa values between assay pairs exceeding 0.56 (p0.001).The three HPV assays were equally accurate in estimating high-risk HPV prevalence and HPV-related lesions. The method for HPV detection must be decided depending on the goals of the search (screening, follow-up or molecular studies).

The identification of high risk groups for genital human papillomavirus (HPV) infection may contribute to cervical cancer prevention. The study was designed to estimate the prevalence of HPV infection and the related risk of cervical cancer among imprisoned women.157 women were visited at the Medical Office of a prison in Barcelona, Spain. Women underwent a structured interview, determination of HIV serostatus and detection of HPV cervical infection by means of PCR.The prevalence of HPV infection was 46%. Prostitution was reported by 38.2% and intravenous drug use by 64.3%. HIV infection was detected in 56.1%. Cervical cytology revealed 19 women with ASCUS and 28 with squamous intraepithelial lesions (SIL) (all grades). HPV infection was associated with an increased risk of intravenous drug use for more than 10 years (prevalence odds ratio [POR] = 2.9) and seropositivity to HIV (POR = 4.7). The increase in risk for SIL related to HIV was explained by the presence of HPV. HIV positive women with low CD4 counts may increase the risk for SIL independently of HPV.HIV positive women are at high risk for HPV infection and as a consequence, for developing SIL. HIV positive women should be closely monitored for cervical cancer.

Background: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is increasingly recognized as an important etiological factor of esophageal cancer. However, its prevalence is highly variable between different geographic areas, and is also dependent on the different diagnostic tests such as in situ hybridization, southern blot, and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Aim: To determine the prevalence of HPV in a selected population of esophageal cancer in Catalonia, Spain. Patients and Methods: Consecutive patients diagnosed with esophageal cancer were selected for the study between February 2007 and September 2008. Paired endoscopic biopsy samples were obtained from normal mucosa and tumour and collected in RNA later. Extracted DNA was amplified using F-HPV typingTM kit PCR (Molgentix, Spain) with a set of 24 fluorescently labelled primers recognizing HPV types 6, 11, 16, 18, 26, 31, 33, 35, 39, 42, 43 , 44, 45, 51, 52, 53, 56, 58, 59, 66, 68, 70, 73 and 82. Results: Twenty patients (mean age: 62 ±11, 16 M/ 4 F) diagnosed with 11 squamous cell carcinoma and 9 with esophageal adenocarcinoma participated in the study. HPV was detected in 6 out of 11 patients (54.5 %) with squamous cell carcinoma and in 1 of 9 patients (11.1%) with adenocarcinoma of esophagus. Medium risk HPV types (53, 70, 73) were detected in 5 out of 7 patients in both tumour and the surrounding normal mucosa. Multi-infection with several medium risk HPV types was found in 4 (57%) of them. Low risk VPH 42 was also present in 5/7 (71%) of cancer samples, three in combination with medium risk VPH, one isolated, and the remaining sample had medium risk HPV 73 in the surrounding normal mucosa. Conclusions: HPV is present in 54% of cases of squamous cell carcinoma in our series. The presence of several medium risk HPV is common in both tumor and normal esophageal mucosa samples from these patients.

Objective To identify the origin of calcified tissue in endometrial ossification. Design DNA analyses from the ossified tissue and from the woman were studied to compare both genotypes. Setting University and general hospitals. Patient(s) A 27-year-old infertile woman diagnosed of osseous metaplasia of the endometrium. Intervention(s) Hysteroscopic resection of the endometrial osseous metaplasia for DNA analysis. Main Outcome Measure(s) DNA comparison between the patient and the osseous tissue extracted from the uterus. Result(s) All markers produced the same allele length for both blood and endometrial biopsy (including bones), thus confirming the same genetic origin. Conclusion(s) Endometrial ossification is derived from the patient, resulting in a true osseous metaplasia.
