The research aimed to examine parental perceptions of children’s reactions and behavioral changes related to the corona virus and the measures implemented to curb the pandemic. Due to the shutdown of educational institutions, the introduction of social distancing, and curfews, children spent most of their time within the family unit, with limited opportunities for socialization and playing with peers. Numerous studies have shown that quarantine measures can have serious psychological consequences on children and young people. In our study, 89 parents of children aged 3 to 11 years (M=6.79; SD=2.49; 58% girls) responded to three open-ended questions regarding observed behavioral changes in their children associated with the fear of the corona virus and quarantine measures. The research was conducted online during the state of emergency in Serbia. Using qualitative content analysis, 267 parental responses were analyzed, from which 28 categories were identified. Half of the parents noticed a fear of COVID-19 in their children, while the majority reported various changes related to quarantine measures. The most frequently mentioned were fear of going outside, asking questions about the virus, and the emergence of new behaviors. Parents observed reactions such as nervousness, intensified anger, sadness, anxiety, and difficulties in concentration and establishing routines. The results of this study provide important insights into children’s functioning in a specific context, highlighting the significance of parental and school practices in situations of uncertainty and crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

The aim of our study was to explore relations between parents’ and children’s fear of COVID–19, parents’ dispositions (emotion regulation, self-efficacy, the anxiety trait) and their distress (due to the pandemic, the national state of emergency [NSE] and curfews) and how these variables have been affecting the quality of parental pandemic practices during the COVID–19 NSE in Serbia. Our online questionnaire was filled in by 376 parents and one of their children aged 7 to 19 years. Path analysis was used to analyze data. Higher levels of cognitive reappraisal and self-efficacy directly contribute to a higher quality of parental pandemic practices during NSE. Indirectly, parents’ fear, pandemic distress, and parents’ cognitive anxiety symptoms increase children’s fear, consequently raising the quality of parental pandemic practices. Pointing out protective and risk factors that may affect pandemic parenting during NSE as well as mechanisms of their contributions, our findings draw attention to the importance of parents’ negative emotions regulation and the effects of children’s emotions on the quality of parental pandemic practices during an ongoing pandemic.

Introduction/Objective. To present and compare maternal and neonatal effects of two remifentanil dosing regimens, used during induction-delivery period of elective caesarean section in attempt to attenuate maternal cardiovascular response to surgical stress. Methods. Seventy-seven ASA I-II parturients were randomly divided into three groups and received the following: A – 1 μg/kg remifentanil immediately before the induction to anesthesia followed by 0.15 μg/ kg/min infusion, interrupted after skin incision; B – 1 μg/kg remifentanil bolus immediately before the induction; C – no remifentanil until delivery. Hemodynamic (blood pressure, heart rate) and bispectral index changes after endotracheal intubation, skin incision, peritoneal incision and delivery, intraoperative anesthetics consumption and neonatal outcome have been compared between the groups. Results. Hemodynamic response to intubation was significantly attenuated (p < 0.001) in groups A and B compared to C. Hemodynamic response to skin incision, peritoneal incision and delivery was significantly attenuated in group A compared to B and C. Thiopentone dose in groups A and B was lower than in group C (p < 0.001); sevoflurane and remifentanil consumption was less in group A compared to B and C (p < 0.001). Apgar scores at 1st minute were ≥ 8 in all neonates, with no differences in neonatal heart rate, oxygen saturation and umbilical blood gas values (all within normal range). Conclusion. 1 μg/kg remifentanil bolus followed by 0.15 μg/kg/min stopped after skin incision, successfully blunted maternal hemodynamic stress response throughout whole induction-delivery period, reduced anesthetic consumption, without affecting neonatal outcome, so it can be considered effective as well as safe to use during induction-delivery period of caesarean section.

The aim of this study was to construct, evaluate psychometrically and validate the Multifaceted Inventory for the Self-Report of Psychopathy (MISP). The pilot version consisted of 100 items arranged in 10 indicators related to affective, behavioral and interpersonal deficits. After dropping items that didn't have satisfactory psychometric characteristics in the pilot study, 50 items were left. The validation study was conducted on 232 high school students (51,7 % females), age 18 to 19. After dropping more items, final version of the instrument consists of 40 items. The construct validity was examined through factor analysis. 6 factors were extracted and all of these factors have good metric characteristics. Factors were named: manipulation, grandiosity, superficial relationships, violence, disinhibition and insensibility. Also, construct validity is shown by correlations with inventory for psychopathy self-report SRP-III. Convergent validity is confirmed by association with macchiavelism test MACH-IV and personality test HEXACO. MISP also has diagnostic validity, because men on all factors other than Disinhibition have higher scores than women. The Multifaceted Inventory for the Self-Report of Psychopathy (MISP) meets the criteria of a valid test that could be used as an instrument for assessing psychopathic traits in the Serbian speaking area, with the necessary validation on the sample of adults from the general population and correctional institutions.

Background/Aim. Renal carcinoma represents histologically heterogeneous group of malignant tumors, with various clinical aggressiveness. The frequency of p53 mutation in primal renal carcinoma is rare, although there are information about its heterogeneous accumulation. The loss of protein p16 expression in primal renal carcinoma is detected in 20-30% of the cases. The aim of this paper was to determine frequency of mutated protein p53 and expression of protein p16INK4a in renal carcinoma, to analyze their correlative relation and relation with the examined clinicopathological parameters. Methods. The examination included 12 patients (66.7% men, 33.3% women), with patohistologically verified renal carcinoma. Expression of mutated form of protein p53 and protein p16 was determined in tissue samples, by immunohistochemical analysis using of mice monoclonical antibodies produced by DAKO, Denmark. Results. In 9 (75%) of the cases was detected mutated protein p53, of whom 66.6% had higher histological gradus of tumor (G3-4) and higher pathological stadium of the disease (pT3a-b) at the same time. In 7 (58.3%) and 5 (41.7%) of the cases expression of protein p16, the loss of expression of protein p16 were detected respectively. A statistically significant positive correlation was determined between pathological stadium of disease (TNM) and the degree of tumor differentiation (G) (ρ = 0.834; p < 0.001), as well as between TNM and mitotic index (ρ = 0.622; p = 0.031). Conclusion. A mutated form of protein p53 exists in 75% of the cases with the renal carcinoma and 66.6% of then have higher histological gradus of tumor and higher stadium of tumor disease at the same time. Coexpression of mutated protein p53 and protein p16INK4a in renal carcinoma is not statistically significant and it is not in correlation with clinicopathological parameters. Immunohistochemical analysis of mutated protein p53 in renal carcinoma can have predictive significance.

Background/Aim. The most common urinary bladder tumors are superficial tumors. Due to their tension to relapse and progress towards deeper layers after surgical therapy, an adequate therapy significantly contributed to the improvement of the results of urinary bladder tumors treatment. Staging and gradus of the tumor, presence of the carcinoma in situ (CIS) or relapses significantly influenced the choice of the therapy. The aim of this study was to ascertain the effectiveness of the intravesicelly applied BCG (Bacille Colmette - Guerin) vaccine or chemiotherapy in the prevention of the relapses and further progression of superficial urinary bladder tumors. Methods. All of the diagnosed superficial tumors of bladder were removed by transurethral resection (TUR). After receiving the patohistological finding they were subjected to adjuvant therapy, immune BCG vaccine or chemiotherapy (epirubicin, doxorubicin, mitomycin-C). The third group did not accept adjuvant therapy, but had regularly scheduled cystoscopic controls. The appearance of relapses, progression of stage and grades of the tumor, as well as possible unwanted effects of adjuvant therapy were registered. Results. The applied immunotherapy (BCG) influenced decreased tumor relapses (7%) and statistically important difference between patients who had taken adjuvant chemotherapy (relapses 18.4%) and those without this therapy was acknowledged. Grades of tumor did not show statistically significant difference on tumor relapse. A significantly longer period of time in the appearance of tumor relapse after BCG (29.33 months), had significant importance comparing to chemio (9.44 months) or non-taken adjuvant therapy (9.84 months). Very small number of unwanted effects suggested an obligatory undertaking adjuvant therapy after TUR of superficial tumors. Conclusion. A significant decrease of relapses as well as avoidance of further progression of urinary bladder tumors, has introduced adjuvant therapy in all of the protocols, while the dosing scheme is not unique yet due to trying to find the optimal dose, the length of application and possible dose maintenance. .

Background/Aim. The inhibition of factor Xa (FX) by the use of low-molecular heparin (LMH) is important clinical procedure in patients with moderate and high risk for the developament of venous thromboembolism (VTE) and pulmonary embolism (PE). The aim of this study was to determine the level of inhibition of FXa by the use of prophylactic doses of LMH nadroparin-calcium and reviparine-sodium which were applied in urological patients with moderate risk for VTE and PE. Methods. The examination included 80 urological patients divided into 4 groups after urological, uroradiological and anesthesiological preoperative preparation and categorization of anesthesiological risk according to the ASA III classification. The first two groups, of 20 patients each, received the recommended doses of LMH in accordance with the preoperative risk, and an inhibition of FXa 48 hours after the surgical operation and four hours after the administration of LMH was determined. Heptest and homogenous anti-Xa test were used for monitoring of FXa inhibition. Since the obtained anti-Xa values were not satisfactory, two more groups were formed and given double the recommended doses. In these new groups, inhibition of FXa was in recommended range. Standard descriptive statistical parameters were used for describing the charateristics of the people from the formed groups. Results. All the patients examined were clinically estimated as patients of moderate risk, for VTE and PE. There were no statistically singificant difference in body weight of the patients who received nadroparin-calcium 0.3 ml and reviparine-sodium 0.25 ml and those who received their double doses, respectively. The level of FXa inhibition in the group in which the dose of nadroparin-calcium of 0.6 ml was applied was statistically significantly higher than in the group which received the dose of 0.3 ml (Mann-Whitney U test: Z = 5.416; p < 0.0001). The level of FXa in the group given reviparine-sodium 0.5 ml was significantly higher than in the group which received the half of this dose (Mann-Whitney U test: Z = 5.416; p < 0.0001). This research did not confirm a statistically significant difference in the levels of FXa inhibition in patients who received nadroparincalcium as VTE and PE prophilaxis in the dose of 0.6 ml and those who received reviparin-sodium 0.5 ml (in two doses of 0.25 ml) (Mann-Whitney U test: Z = 0.163; p > 0.05). Conclusion. According to biochemical monitoring, the recommended doses of LMH are insufficient for the prophylactic inhibition of FXa in urological pateints with moderate risk for VTE and PE, so the higher doses which inhibit FXa are recommended. .

Introduction. Cystic renal lesions are very heterogeneous lesions which differ in ethiopathogenesis, morphological and clinical manifestations, and also in evolution and therapy. Classification of cystic lesions is complex, symptomatology is poor, and diagnosis is based on complete radiological diagnostic procedures. Case report. We presented a 20-year old patient with mild subjective symptoms. Objectively, he was without positive clinical signs and changes in biochemistry of blood. Using ultrasonography (US) multiple serous simple cysts were found in both kidneys. Using computed tomography (CT) multiple serous cysts were found, without changes in cystic walls, with preserved renal parenchyma and without cystic changes on other parenchymatous organs. Conclusion. Although renal cystic lesions are frequent in adult population, this is a rare example of a young adult man with simple, gigantic, serous cysts which do not produce clinical manifestations nor functional renal difficulty so far.

Background: The aim of the study is evaluation of the possible role of the scintigraphic estimation of the relative liver perfusion in diagnosis and the choice of treatment of liver carcinomas., Material and Methods: Hepatic perfusion index was obtained by dynamic scintigraphy in 126 patients., Results: In the control group values did not differ from the value in the patients with benign tumors (p > 0.05). However, in hepatocellular carcinoma and liver metastases of different tumors, HPI values were significantly decreased in comparison to controls and benign tumors (p < 0.01), but they didn't differ between themselves (p > 0.05). The values were especially low in the patients with malignant diseases in the liver accosciated with vascular disturbances in the portal system., Conclusion: HRA could be easily done during the different conventional nuclear medicine methods. It can be an useful method for the assessment of different degrees of hemodynamic alterations in portal system, for differential diagnosis of benign and malignant liver tumors, as well as for assessment of the liver tissue and tumor perfusion, which might be helpful in the decision making for the undertaking of intraarterial (radionuclide, chemotherapy etc.) therapy.

The aim of this study is the assessment of the relative arterial and venous contribution to the total liver blood flow (hepatic perfusion index-HPI), with two methods (S1 and S2), and estimation of their value. With this correction, HPI nonsignificantly increases (p>0.05) in all the groups of patients, with a very high correlation between the HPI (S1) and HPI (S2) values (p<0.01). In comparison to the portal perfusion in controls, values were significantly (p<0.01) lower in chronic active hepatitis and liver cirrhosis and differed between themselves (p<0.01). In the groups of cirrhotic patients with esophageal varices, sclerosated esophageal varices, recanalized umbilical vein, portal thrombosis and cavernous portal vein, portal perfusion was lower (p<0.01) than in controls, chronic active hepatitis and liver cirrhosis without collaterals. Both angioscintigraphic methods are useful for the estimation of the disturbances in the portal system. Because of the more exact estimation of the liver perfusion, S2 is recommended.

Background: The aim of this study was to present and compare the results of proposed methods for optimal red cell mass and plasma volume (RCM&PV) estimation, and their influence on the interpretation of obtained results., Material and Methods: In 120/280 patients with polycythaemia rubra vera, subjected to RCM&PV determination with autologous erythrocytes in vitro labelled with 51Cr-sodium chromate, optimal volumes were determined using: 1. traditional ml/kg of: --the real body weight method (ml/kg RBW); --the optimal body weight method (ml/kg OBW). 2. the body weight, height, and sex based method (Retzlaff's tables), 3. the method recommended by the International Council for Standardization in Haematology (ICSH), based on body surface area., Results: Different interpretation of the same results of 120 RCM&PV measurements was registered in 48/120 patients (40%). The greatest disagreement existed between ml/kg RBW and ml/kg OBW methods (in 39/120 subjects, 32.5%). In underweight patients the ml/kg RBW method, and in overweight patients the ml/kg OBW method, offered better agreement with ICSH&Retzlaff's methods. The ml/kg RBW method disagreed with ICSH&Retzlaff's methods and ml/kg OBW in 25% and 19.2% of patients respectively. ICSH and Retzlaff's methods disagreed in 10/120 patients (8.3%). The ICSH method yielded significantly lower optimal volumes than Retzlaff's., Conclusion: Three methods for optimal RCM&PV estimation lead to different interpretations of the same results of RCM&PV measurements with 51Cr-erythrocytes in 40% of patients. Two ml/kg body weight methods show greater disagreement in comparison with ICSH and Retzlaff's methods, which differ significantly. The ICSH method yields lower optimal values compared to Retzlaff's.

Background: The aim of this work was to estimate the significance of a dynamic study performed during the first 20 minutes after autologous (111)In-oxinate-platelets injection in patients with chronic immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). Two hypotheses were tested: a) dynamic study indicates the place of platelet sequestration; b) dynamic study reflects the quality of platelet separation and labelling procedure., Material and Methods: Thirty-nine persons were investigated: 25 with shortened platelet life span (ITP), and 14 with normal platelet life span (6 healthy subjects and eight patients with myelodysplastic syndrome--MDS). Platelet blood count on the day of platelet labelling, general yield of platelet labelling (GYL), differential yield of platelet labelling (DYL), platelet life span, dynamic study with initial platelet accumulation in the liver (IPAL), sequential static study for determining the platelet sequestration index (SI) and platelet sequestration site (SS) were investigated., Results: Two types of labelled platelet kinetics were determined in both groups of patients: IPAL < 20% and IPAL > 20%. A statistically significant difference in GYL and DYL was noted between the patients with IPAL < 20% and IPAL > 20%. No significant difference was registered in platelet blood count, life span, SS and SI between the two groups of patients. Both yields of platelet labelling were higher in the group with IPAL < 20%. There was no correlation between IPAL and platelet SI, or between IPAL and platelet SS., Conclusions: Dynamic study with (111)In-platelets cannot predict platelet sequestration site in ITP patients, but it is a useful and sensitive method of platelet labelling procedure quality control.
