In the title salt, C15H12FN2O+·Cl−·H2O, the imidazo[1,2-a]pyridin-1-ium ring system of the cation is almostly planar [maximum deviaition = −0.047 (2) Å for the ring C atom with the attached arene ring] and forms a dihedral angle of 61.81 (6)° with the plane of the fluorophenyl ring. In the crystal, water molecules form an R24(8) motif parallel to the (100) plane by bonding with the chloride ions via O—H...Cl hydrogen bonds. The cations are connected along the b axis via N—H...O hydrogen bonds involving the O atoms of water molecules, and C—H...O, C—H...Cl and π–π interactions [centroid-to-centroid distance = 3.6195 (8) Å] form layers parallel to the (100) plane. Furthermore, these layers are connected via π–π interactions [centroid-to-centroid distance = 3.8051 (9) Å] that further consolidate the crystal structure.

The paper presents the results of experimental studies on the production of fine char powder from sunflower seed husks by a novel method of thermomechanical treatment with pulsed shock waves and supersonic jets of the mixture of ultra-superheated (above 2000 °C) steam and carbon dioxide, as well as the results of examination of the produced char powder in terms of its chemical, phase, and granulometric composition and structural, morphological, and texture characteristics. The objective of the research is to explore the possibility of using the resulting char powder as a sorption-active material for organic substances. It is shown that the obtained char particles and their agglomerates have an average size of 20–30 nm and 12–24 µm, respectively, have the shape of disks and ellipsoids, consist mainly of amorphous carbon (up to 56 wt%) and oxygen (up to 42 wt%), and have a specific surface area of 1.1–1.7 m2/g. It is concluded that such a char powder can be used as an absorbent for organic substances when dried and deagglomerated.

To meet the increasing needs of fuels, especially non-fossil fuels, the production of “bio-oil” is proposed and many efforts have been undertaken to find effective ways to transform bio-wastes into valuable substances to obtain the fuels and simultaneously reduce carbon wastes, including CO2. This work is devoted to the gasification of sugar cane bagasse to produce CO in the process assisted by CO2. The metals were varied (Fe, Co, or Ni), along with their amounts, in order to find the optimal catalyst composition. The materials were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and electron diffraction, and were tested in the process of CO2-assisted gasification. The catalysts based on Co and Ni demonstrate the best activity among the investigated systems: the conversion of CO2 reached 88% at ~800 °C (vs. 20% for the pure sugarcane bagasse). These samples contain metallic Co or Ni, while Fe is in oxide form.

CO2-assisted gasification of carbon-based waste materials is one of the processes that both utilises waste carbon chemicals and produces CO, which is a highly sought after raw material. In this work, we aimed at finding and clarifying the synergistic effects of simultaneous potassium and Fe, Co, or Ni-driven catalysis. To reveal the behaviour of such systems, a series with different potassium loadings and a fixed second metal loading of 5 wt.% was prepared. The following methods were applied for this purpose: SEM, TEM, EDX, XRD, electron diffraction, and catalytic tests. The most active sample was found to be 3 wt.% K and 5 wt.% Co- or Fe-loaded hydrolysis lignin. The attained CO2 conversion was up to 92%, while the pure lignin sample demonstrated only 62% conversion under the same conditions.
