Smartphone apps have been developed and investigated in validation studies for tracking human behavior such as physical activity (PA) and sedentary behavior (SB). However, as it is unclear whether these apps are valid for tracking PA and SB when compared to research-grade accelerometers, thus, this systematic review aimed to investigate the validity of smartphone apps for tracking PA and SB using the accelerometer as a criterion measure. A systematic search was conducted in PubMed, Web of Science, SportDiscus, and Scopus databases. The mean percentage difference (MPD) was used to evaluate criterion validity. Ten studies (n = 662) validating different apps using ActiGraph accelerometers as criteria measure (six were conducted in free-living conditions, two in laboratory conditions, and two in both conditions) were included for analyses. While four apps were considered valid for tracking PA, six were not valid or fully valid. The MPD analysis revealed that apps provide no valid scores for tracking PA measures (MPD = -12.6 – 37.7). The scarcity of studies investigating SB limits the tracking of the results on this behavior. Study designs, smartphone location, and exercise intensity tend to affect the accuracy of apps tracking PA; thus, the current review showed conflicting results among studies. This review shows that it is not possible to generalize the valid scores for all apps.

Com objetivo de analisar as características das publicações do periódico relacionado ao tema “atividade física e saúde”, foi conduzida uma revisão de escopo a partir dos estudos originais publicados na Revista Brasileira de Atividade Física & Saúde entre 2016 e 2020. Foram avaliados e encaminhados para a síntese os artigos originais que envolveram amostras de seres humanos, independente da abrangência dos dados, contexto de pesquisa, delineamentos, fenômenos e temas estudados e abordagem utilizada para a coleta e análise de dados. A partir dos dados de 207 artigos, observou--se maiores frequências de primeiros autores afiliados às instituições localizadas na região Sul do país; com estudos conduzidos em cidades da mesma região; pesquisas de desenho transversal com abordagens quantitativas à coleta e análise dos dados; que envolveram amostras com indivíduos de ambos os sexos; indivíduos adultos; com recrutamento nos cenários de atenção primária à saúde e tamanho amostral de até 50 indivíduos e com objetivos de identificar correlatos e fatores associados à atividade física. Visto o cenário de produtividade e competitividade entre pesquisadores e periódicos interessados no tema atividade física e saúde, esforços são necessários para que a revista aumente seu potencial como opção primária de submissão entre os pares da área.

Background: Considering its deleterious effects on health, as well as the importance of information to support actions, strategies and public policies, this study was aimed to identify and classify the risk factors for consumption of ultra-processed foods among Brazilian adolescents. Data sources: targeting observational studies involving samples of Brazilian adolescents (11 to 19 years old), which evaluated possible associations between the consumption of ultra-processed foods and individual, interpersonal, environmental and public policies variables, in October 2022, a systematic review was conducted, consulting electronic databases (Lilacs, Pubmed, Scielo, Scopus and Web of Science), Google Scholar and the reference lists of included articles. Data synthesis: The descriptive synthesis consisted of 11 papers, representing nine original studies. In general, the consumption of ultra-processed foods was associated with different individual, interpersonal and environmental variables. More specifically, the following variables can be highlighted: sedentary behavior (specially screen time), studying at a private school, having a higher Body Mass Index and being female. Conclusions: Based on this evidence, it is important to direct actions, strategies and public policies aimed at confronting the consumption of ultra-processed foods for these groups.

INTRODUÇÃO: Síndrome de Burnout (SB) representa o esgotamento físico e mental intenso, na condição de uma tensão emocional crônica causada por se lidar excessivamente com pessoas, causando impactos em distintos domínios da vida. OBJETIVOS: Identificar os fatores associados à SB, bem como sumarizar a sua prevalência em discentes de escolas medicas brasileiras. MÉTODOS: A partir de buscas sistemáticas em cinco bases de dados, Google Acadêmico e em listas de referências, foi realizada uma revisão sistemática, a fim de identificar estudos originais que avaliaram fatores associados e prevalências da SB em discentes de escolas médicas brasileiras. Em um segundo momento, foi conduzida metanálise para sumarização das prevalências. RESULTADOS: A partir dos dados de 13 artigos originais, conduzidos em oito estados brasileiros, identificou-se que as variáveis “falha nos exames”, “não ter percepção de aquisição de habilidades” e o “desconforto em relação às atividades do curso” estão associadas como risco à SB. A metanálise apresentou a prevalência de SB acumulada de 17% (IC95% = 0,12; 0,23; n = 3.613; I2 = 95%). CONCLUSÃO: Considerando a abrangência das consequências relacionadas à SB, assim como o fato que questões inerentes ao curso de medicina podem desencadear a SB, é importante que as diretrizes de formação médica também sobre a estrutura dos cursos, abrangendo pontos como a ampliação de espaços de lazer e oferta de serviços de apoio psicológico aos discentes ao longo da formação inicial.

Our aim was to identify and analyze national guides with recommendations for physical activity for early childhood in the countries of the American continent. A scoping review was carried out on the websites of the national education, sport, and/or health agencies of the 36 American countries, on the Google website, and through contact with professionals. The synthesis was developed from the exploration of the material, looking for approaches and recommendations in the domains “benefits”, “dose”, “types and examples”, “practice guidelines” and “sedentary behavior”. From 21 documents initially assessed, four composed the synthesis (Canada, Chile, United States and Uruguay). All included guides converged on recommendations about the importance of physical activity for weight control and healthy growth and development (e.g., benefits domain); the importance of children being physically active at various times of the day, highlighting the provision of “joyful, safe, supervised, and age appropriate physical activity” and “participation in structured-play activities” (e.g., types and examples domain); support for the provision of “fun, safe, supervised, and age appropriate physical activity” (e.g., types and examples domain) and the support from parents or caregivers to stimulate activities that encourage responsibility and autonomy (e.g., practice orientation domain). Finally, considering that strategies to promote physical activity involve addressing individual and contextual factors, it is important that future national guides for physical activity involve recommendations in domains that are determinants of physical activity in this age group, such as support from primary caregivers and the built environment, in its access and possibilities.

Objective: To identify and summarize the possible associations between screen time and low back pain in children and adolescents. Data source: Systematic searches were performed in five electronic databases (Lilacs, Scielo, Scopus, PubMed and Web of Science) on 01/25/2021, complemented by manual searches in reference lists and on Google Scholar, looking for original scientific articles that included Brazilian observational studies; whose samples had children and/or adolescents aged between 6 and 19 years, without specific clinical conditions, and that presented analyses of associations between indicators of screen time and nonspecific low back pain, based on regression models. Data synthesis: Nine cross-sectional studies whose samples had adolescents were included. Of the 18 analyses identified, nine reported risk relationships between the variables of interest. More specifically, risk associations were found in two studies that evaluated adolescents exposed to at least three hours using cell phone or tablet, and watching television per day. Also, instruments, cut-off points adopted, and screen equipment evaluated were diverse. Conclusions: Even though most of the risk associations were borderline from the statistical point of view, we found a higher frequency of risk associations between screen time and non-specific low back pain in adolescents exposed to screen time for at least three hours a day. In addition, further longitudinal studies with samples composed of children should be conducted across the country. Resumo Objetivo: Identificar e sumarizar os dados sobre as possíveis associações entre o tempo de tela e a dor lombar em crianças e adolescentes. Fontes de dados: Buscas sistemáticas em cinco bases de dados eletrônicas (Lilacs, Scielo, Scopus, Pubmed e Web of Science), no dia 25/01/2021, complementadas por buscas manuais em listas de referências e no site Google Acadêmico, procurando por artigos científicos originais que comunicaram estudos observacionais brasileiros que envolveram amostras de crianças e/ou adolescentes entre 6 e 19 anos de idade, sem condições clínicas específicas e que apresentassem análises de associações entre indicadores do tempo de tela e dor lombar não específica, baseadas em modelos de regressão. Síntese dos dados: Nove estudos transversais foram incluídos, envolvendo amostras de adolescentes. Das 18 análises identificadas, 9 mostraram relações de risco entre as variáveis de interesse. Mais especificamente, verificaram-se associações de risco em dois estudos que avaliaram adolescentes expostos a, pelo menos, três horas diárias de celular, tablete e televisão. Também se observou diversidade entre instrumentos, pontos de corte adotados e equipamentos de tela avaliados. Conclusões: Mesmo que a maior parte das associações de risco tenha sido limítrofe, do ponto de vista estatístico, a presente síntese apresentou maior frequência de associações de risco entre o tempo de tela e a dor lombar não específica em adolescentes expostos ao tempo de tela por, pelo menos, três horas diárias. Complementarmente, recomenda-se que sejam conduzidos no país estudos longitudinais, com o envolvimento de crianças nas amostras.

This paper describes the process of establishing physical activity recommendations for children up to five years old included in the Physical Activity Guidelines for the Brazilian Population. The development of these recommendations was based on the guidelines proposed by the World Health Organization in 2019. Theoretical support was gathered by using the following strategies: scoping review conducted to update the body of knowledge about the correlates and determinants of physical activity in children 0-5 years old; 2-synthesis of the existing national physical activity guidelines; 3-online interviews with parents and teachers aiming to identify their degree of difficulty in understanding the recommendations contained in the World Health Organization Physical Activity guidelines and to identify barriers and strategies for improving the involvement of children in physical activities; and, 4-public consultation. All actions were developed in the period from May to December 2020, by a working group composed of researchers with expertise in this field and representatives of the Ministry of Health. As a result, a total of 35 recommendations were included in the Brazilian guidelines, 10 of which were related to benefits, four to the dose, seven to the types of activities, seven to the strategies for improving practice, and seven others related to the reduction of sedentary behavior. When relevant and possible, these recommendations were differentiated for children from birth to one year of age, 1-2 years, and 3-5 years. The main message is that any physical activity is better than none and that sedentary behavior should be reduced.

Com objetivo de identificar e sumarizar os dados de pesquisas que investigaram o perfil dos usuários das Academias ao Ar Livre (AAL) no Brasil, assim como o padrão de utilização destes espaços, em dezembro de 2020 foi realizada uma revisão de escopo, procurando por artigos observacionais, conduzidos no território brasileiro, que identificaram o perfil dos frequentadores e o padrão de utilização das AAL. Dos 16 artigos encontrados, que representam 10 distintos projetos, identificou-se que mulheres, pessoas na faixa etária entre 40 e 59 anos de idade, com ensino médio completo, casados/as e com sobrepeso representam o perfil mais comum de frequentadores das AAL no país. Complementarmente, a síntese também aponta que frequentadores utilizam as AAL há, pelo menos, 12 meses, com periodicidade de utilização de, pelo menos, três dias da semana, geralmente, nos dias úteis. Em conclusão, as AAL contribuem para a equidade ao acesso à atividade física. Entretanto, novos projetos são necessários, com utilização de abordagens mistas, para uma melhor compreensão das características que ao momento ainda são inconclusivas.

Although physical activity (PA) improves the physical, mental, and social outcomes of people living with HIV (PLH), multiple barriers prevent them from exercising. In this systematic review, we investigated the effect of home-based interventions to promote physical activity (HBI) among PLH. Randomised trials and quasi-experimental studies published in English until March 2020 were sought in five databases. Independent reviewers performed data extraction, risk of bias assessment and pragmatic-explanatory (PRECIS-2) evaluation of study characteristics. Outcomes included engagement in PA, body composition, cardiorespiratory fitness, strength, metabolic disturbances, and quality of life (QoL). Out of 480 retrieved references, six studies met inclusion criteria. Interventions lasted 12-48 weeks and involved 400 individuals (57.8% women). Ninety-eight (24.5%) participants completed interventions, but dropout rates varied considerably (5.0-54.5%). Resulted showed increased PA (two studies) and improved cardiorespiratory fitness or strength (three and two studies, respectively). Four studies demonstrated reduction of waist circumference and increase in lean body mass. QoL improved in two of three studies. We conclude HBI (aerobic and/or resistance exercises) may contribute to improve PA and/or cardiorespiratory fitness, body composition, strength and QoL of PLH. Further investigation using multi-centre standardised protocols is warranted to provide stronger evidence of their effectiveness in health promotion for PLH.

A elevada taxa de transmissão e mortalidade pela COVID-19 acarretou o fechamento de centros de movimentação social, dentre eles locais para prática de atividade física. Com isso, o objetivo do estudo foi identificar as principais estratégias e ferramentas tecnológicas virtuais, percepção dos profissionais de educação física (PEF) acerca das adaptações, pontos positivos, negativos e feedbacks dos clientes para orientar a prática de atividade física durante o isolamento social/restrição de circulação devido ao vírus SARS-COV-2. Optou-se pela pesquisa transversal, quanti-qualitativa, com técnica de amostragem “bola de neve”, sendo recrutados PEF das cinco regiões do Brasil. Os participantes responderam um questionário online com questões sociodemográficas, uso das ferramentas tecnológicas virtuais, perfil dos clientes e questões discursivas acerca da orientação online à atividade física. Foi realizada estatística descritiva e análise por codificação simples. Participaram 110 PEF de 65 cidades do país, os quais geralmente atendem em academias de ginástica (59,8%) e ao ar livre (34,5%), tendo clientes adultos (92,9%), do sexo feminino (51,8%). Dentre as ferramentas tecnológicas virtuais utilizadas estão “vídeos” (60,9%) e “Whatsapp web” (60,0%), geralmente ferramentas gratuitas (67,5%) e, para que o trabalho ocorra, são necessárias adaptações estruturais/materiais e profissionais. Embora haja aspectos negativos e dificuldades na orientação remota à prática de atividade física, os aspectos positivos e facilidades permitem que o PEF se conecte com seus respectivos clientes mesmo durante a pandemia, estimulando e, orientando de forma segura, a prática de atividade física. Esta temática necessita ser mais explorada para que essas ferramentas auxiliem os PEF.

J Strength Cond Res 34(8): 2394-2406, 2020-The purpose of this study was to identify and summarize the relationships between muscular fitness (MF) and individual components of metabolic syndrome (high waist circumference [WC], high blood pressure [BP], high systolic BP [SBP], high diastolic BP [DBP], high triglycerides [TG], fasting blood glucose [FG], and low HDL cholesterol levels [HDL-C]) in children and adolescents. A systematic review was conducted in 5 electronic databases, with complementary searches in reference lists, and the inclusion criteria were children and adolescents (age group up to 19 years of age) with no special clinical conditions. In all articles, risk of bias was analyzed by a standardized instrument. Of the 5,973 articles initially identified, 21 were included, with data on 22,261 children and adolescents. Higher MF values were associated with lower TG (n = 07) and WC values (n = 15). Different results in relation to the relationship between MF and SBP (n = 10) and MF and DBP (n = 07) were verified. In addition, there was no relationship between MF and FG (n = 06). In addition, inconclusive results were verified in the relationship between MF and HDL-C (n = 07). Concluded higher MF values were related to lower WC values and lower TG concentrations.

The purpose of this study was to identify and summarize the relationships between MS and individual components of metabolic syndrome (MetS) [high waist circumference (WC), high blood pressure (BP), high systolic blood pressure (SBP), high diastolic blood pressure (DBP), high triglycerides (TG), fasting blood glucose (GL) and low HDL cholesterol levels (HDL-C)] in adults.A systematic review was performed on six electronic databases (Lilacs, Pubmed, Scielo, Scopus, Sportdiscus, and Web of Knowledge), with complimentary searches in reference lists. The databases were investigated without restrictions regarding the period of publication.Of the 6,833 articles initially identified, 17 were included, with data on 43,343 adults. Higher MS values were associated with lower WC values. Different results in relation to the association between MS and BP, MS and SBP, and MS and DBP were verified. In addition, inconclusive results were verified in the relationship between MS and TG, MS and HDL-C, and MS and GL.Higher MS values were related with lower WC in adults. More evidence from longitudinal studies with high methodological rigor is needed to elucidate the relationship between MS and CVD among adults.

Em vista do reconhecimento do desafio da aproximação entre o Cuidado e a Promoção da Saúde, este ensaio teve como objetivo apontar elementos para que as Práticas Corporais e Atividades Físicas se tornem uma importante “ponte” entre eles. Como potências foram destacados: seu potencial impacto no desenvolvimento humano e sua contribuição para uma vida mais satisfatória e prazerosa; as possibilidades de envolvimento de distintas profissões contribuindo para o trabalho interprofissional; e de serem ricas na construção do cuidado compartilhado com as responsabilidades partilhadas entre os sujeitos e os profissionais de saúde. Como dificuldades e desafios: a formação profissional focada na lógica biomédica e na prática individualizada; a dificuldade na integração das ações e as condições de trabalho inadequadas. Conclui-se que as as Práticas Corporais e Atividades Físicas, como um fenômeno complexo e multideterminado, possuem grande potencial para a almejada aproximação entre a Promoção da Saúde e o Cuidado.

The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of perceived barriers and their isolated and simultaneous association with the practice of counseling for physical activity by primary health care workers. This is a cross-sectional study with 591 health workers, who work in the Family Health Teams. Counseling for physical activity was defined as the accomplishment of such a practice for more than six months. The barriers investigated were lack of time, lack of knowledge, lack of professionals to guide, lack of available instructional material, lack of environmental resources and lack of financial resources of the user. Binary logistic regression was used to evaluate the possible relationships between perceived barriers and the practice of counseling for physical activity. Non-counselors reported a lack of time (68.8%), knowledge (68.5%) and orientation (63.2%) compared to their peer counselors (p ≤ 0.001). Professionals with three or more barriers were more likely not to advise (OR = 3.91; 95%CI: 2.10 - 7.29) when compared to those who reported no concurrent barriers. These results indicate that the simultaneity of perceived barriers is negatively associated to the practice of counseling for physical activity of health workers.

Purpose: Sedentary behavior (SB) has been shown to be associated with unhealthy outcomes in children, and it is not clear whether children living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) engage in different patterns of SB compared with healthy children. This cross-sectional study aimed to compare patterns of SB between children living with HIV and a healthy control group. Methods: A group of children with HIV and a paired control group wore accelerometers for 1 week and answered a questionnaire with items related to television viewing habits and computer usage. Accelerometer-derived and self-reported SB were compared between children living with HIV and controls and between treatment-based and viral load subgroups. Results: A total of 130 children (of which 53% are girls with a mean age of 12.1 y) participated in the study with 65 in each group. Children in the control group exhibited significantly more objectively measured SB daily when compared with the HIV group (515 vs 490 min/d, respectively), but no differences were found between the treatment-based and viral load subgroups. Children with HIV watched more television on weekdays, compared with the control group (P Conclusion: Children living with HIV spend less time being sedentary than those in the healthy control group. Future studies are important for clarifying the causes and consequences of these differences.

RESUMO Objetivo: Verificar a prevalência de anticorpos para o vírus SARS-CoV-2 em estudantes e profissionais de educação em escolas públicas no município de Senador José Porfírio. Método: Estudo de delineamento transversal, envolvendo discentes e profissionais da rede pública de ensino de um município do Estado do Pará. A amostra foi composta por 280 membros da comunidade escolar (estudantes, n = 188; professores, n = 81 e técnicos n = 11), estratificadas proporcionalmente por escola. Foi realizada análise estatística descritiva e inferencial com aplicação do Teste Exato de Fisher por categoria, e um modelo de regressão logística para identificar fatores relacionados entre as variáveis e o resultado do teste. Resultado: Foi encontrado maior soroprevalência para o vírus SARS-CoV-2 nas escolas ribeirinhas em estudantes, e uma razão de chances 22 vezes maior deles terem resultado positivo nos testes se comparado ao grupo das escolas urbanas. Na amostra, 26,5% de todas as categorias tiveram contato intradomiciliar com positivados covid-19, em professores havia 13,6% de soropositividade IgM. Conclusões: Realizar rastreio em constante vigilância nas escolas públicas torna possível identificar casos positivos reagentes, e minimizar riscos de transmissão do vírus, além de oportunizar a oferta de suporte adequado aos estudantes e familiares.

Com objetivo de indicar aproximações, discordâncias e eventuais pontos não abordados pelas comunicações oficiais das sociedades científicas nacionais quanto a realização de práticas corporais e atividades físicas (PCAF) ao ar livre, em abril de 2020, o presente estudo foi conduzido por meio de buscas nas páginas eletrônicas do Google e de algumas sociedades científicas relacionadas à temática. Nas nove comunicações encontradas, destacam-se aproximações na indicação para sua realização de forma individual, evitando a proximidade com outras pessoas e, quanto às divergências, podem ser mencionados os indicadores que devem ser levados em consideração para a sua realização (orientações das agências de saúde, atenção ao número de casos e ao rigor das medidas de distanciamento social), assim como distâncias mínimas preventivas ao contágio. Visto que as comunicações possuem um enfoque maior sobre o risco biológico e não abordam, por exemplo, o risco de influência social que sua realização ao ar livre poderia gerar, reforçamos a indicação para que as PCAF sejam feitas em casa, fortalecendo o isolamento social, sem desconsiderar elementos importantes à sua realização, como a existência de tempo livre, estruturas das residências, habilidade para sua realização, os gostos e as experiências individuais.

Objective Summarize the effects of interventions designed to promote physical activity during elementary school recess in children between 5 and 10 years old. Effective school interventions for children can promote physical activity and healthy behaviors. Methods PubMed, Scopus, Bireme, SciELO, Web of Science, PsychINFO, Proquest, Physical Education Index, Sports Discus, and Eric databases were included in the data search. Original intervention articles on physical activity that used regression methods, published between 2000 and 2019 in English, Portuguese and Spanish were analyzed. Analyses were performed in 2019. Outcomes were organized according to the direction of the association by independent variables. Ten articles were considered eligible for data extraction and evaluation. Results Several strategies were used including playground markings, demarcation of physical activities zones, group activities, availability of sports equipment and facilities. Most of the studies were conducted in the United States. Recess periods ranged from 20–94 min per day and intervention time ranged from 6 weeks to 2 years. Recess duration and intervention effects were positively associated with physical activity. Gender (girls) and age (oldest) were negatively associated with physical activity during recess. Conclusions Interventions based on modifications of school environment such as playground markings demarcation of physical activities zones, group activities, availability of sports equipment and facilities are cheap and cost-effective for increasing physical activity in school recess.

OBJECTIVE To synthesize evidence from studies that analyzed the associations between sedentary behavior and motor competence in children and adolescents. METHODS Systematic review of original articles that analyzed possible associations between sedentary behavior and motor competence in children and adolescents (3–18 years of age), without restrictions on study design, instruments and analysis protocols. The articles were identified through searches in the PubMed, Web of Science, Academic Search Premier, Cinahl, Medline and SPORTDiscus databases, as well as in reference lists. The level of evidence was evaluated according to the amount of studies that reported statistical significance in the associations between the variables and the quality of the articles (risk of bias). RESULTS Of 2,462 initial studies, 22 composed the synthesis (two interventions, nine longitudinal and eleven cross-sectional studies). Of these, in 13, we observed negative associations between the variables, more often in the age group of seven to fourteen years. In the analysis of risk of bias, the main limitations of the studies were “convenience sampling” and “no description of sample sizing”. CONCLUSIONS The available evidence suggests that sedentary behavior is negatively associated with motor competence in elementary school children, although the evidence is uncertain in the preschool years; the synthesis of results from longitudinal studies suggests that sedentary behavior negatively affects the development of motor competence. It is important that future studies have greater control over sociocultural determinants and deepen knowledge regarding sex and age, as well as the methods and indicators used to evaluate the two variables. RESUMO OBJETIVO Sintetizar as evidências de estudos que analisaram as associações entre comportamento sedentário e competência motora em crianças e adolescentes. MÉTODOS Revisão sistemática de artigos originais que analisaram possíveis associações entre comportamento sedentário e competência motora em crianças e adolescentes (3–18 anos de idade), sem restrições quanto ao delineamento de estudo, instrumentos e protocolos de análise. Os artigos foram identificados por meio de buscas nas bases PubMed, Web of Science, Academic Search Premier, Cinahl, Medline e SPORTDiscus, assim como em listas de referências. O nível de evidência foi avaliado de acordo com a quantidade de estudos que reportaram significância estatística nas associações entre as variáveis e a qualidade dos artigos (o risco de viés). RESULTADOS De 2.462 estudos iniciais, 22 compuseram a síntese (duas intervenções, nove longitudinais e onze transversais). Desses, em 13 foram observadas associações negativas entre as variáveis, mais frequentemente na faixa etária de sete a catorze anos. Na análise do risco de viés, as principais limitações dos estudos foram “amostragens por conveniência” e “não descrição do dimensionamento amostral”. CONCLUSÕES A evidência disponível sugere que o comportamento sedentário está negativamente associado à competência motora em crianças do ensino fundamental, embora a evidência seja incerta nos anos pré-escolares; a síntese de resultados dos estudos longitudinais sugere que o comportamento sedentário afeta negativamente o desenvolvimento da competência motora. É importante que futuros estudos tenham maior controle sobre os determinantes socioculturais e aprofundem os conhecimentos em relação ao sexo e à faixa etária, assim como dos métodos e indicadores utilizados para avaliação das duas variáveis.

BACKGROUND: Common mental disorders (CMDs) have been correlated with consequences in different domains of life. OBJECTIVE: To summarize the prevalence rates of CMDs and factors associated with them among students at Brazilian medical schools. DESIGN AND SETTING: Systematic review and meta-analysis of studies developed in Brazilian medical schools. METHODS: In October 2021, searches were carried out in seven electronic databases, in Google Scholar and in reference lists. Observational studies reporting prevalence rates of CMDs among students at Brazilian medical schools were sought. Variables associated with CMDs arising from multivariate regression models were included in the synthesis. A meta-analysis was developed using a random-effects model and the risk of bias was assessed using an instrument developed from previous references. RESULTS: Fourteen original studies were included. The pooled prevalence rate of CMDs among undergraduate students at Brazilian medical schools was 43.3% (95% confidence interval = 38.9% to 47.6%; I2 = 87%; n = 3,927). Among the nine studies in which multivariate analyses were conducted, five showed risk associations between CMDs and medical school-related dissatisfactions, among which the desire to abandon the medical course can be highlighted (n = 3). In three studies, CMDs were associated with sleep indicators. CONCLUSION: Considering that the prevalence of CMDs among medical students is higher than in the general population, we recommend that Brazilian medical schools should give greater attention to this topic, and should enable expansion of care offerings relating to mental health. Summary Given the continued increase in mobile health applications (apps) aimed at healthcare and the recognition of sedentary behavior (SB) as a public health problem, the goal of this scoping review study was to summarize the effects of interventions based on mobile health apps designed to reduce SB in adults, with a specific focus on SB. The electronic databases PubMed, PsycINFO, SportDISCUS, Web of Science, and manual searches in reference lists were conducted on papers published up to September 2020. Nine out of the 897 studies researched were included and composed the descriptive synthesis. The investigations found in the present study showed a decrease in time spent on television viewing and in total time spent sitting, as well as an increase in the number of SB breaks after interventions based on mobile health apps. In conclusion, despite the growing interest in intervention programs in SB, only nine studies have used smartphone apps as a strategy to reduce SB in adults. Mobile health apps were proved to be effective in SB reduction, as assessed by different parameters, and should be encouraged. However, further studies are needed to verify the long-term effects of the utilization of such applications.

This scoping review mapped the existing evidence on interventions to promote physical activity (PA) and/or components of physical literacy (PL) in Brazilian school-aged children and adolescents. Nine electronic databases and gray literature were consulted in May 2020, with no limit on year or language. O objetivo deste estudo é identificar e sumarizar os estudos observacionais conduzidos em território brasileiro que avaliaram as possíveis associações entre a prática de atividade física (AF) e a dor lombar (DL), bem como analisar seus métodos. Para isto, foram realizadas buscas em cinco bases de dados eletrônicas (Lilacs, Pubmed, Scielo, Sportdiscus e Web of Science), além de buscas manuais nas listas de referências. Foram incluídos estudos observacionais desenvolvidos em território brasileiro, sem restrições quanto à idade, que apresentaram análises de associações entre AF e DL, disponíveis até 10 de outubro de 2017. Dos 153 estudos inicialmente recuperados, 11 compuseram a síntese descritiva (sete deles envolvendo adultos). Das 14 análises de associação recuperadas, apenas uma apresentou associação de risco entre a prática excessiva de AF e DL, em adolescentes. A presente síntese aponta para a necessidade de importantes avanços metodológicos nos futuros estudos, tais como: a necessidade da realização de estudos longitudinais; a investigação de possíveis relações entre distintos domínios da AF e diferentes tipos de DL; a necessidade de padronização nos pontos de corte utilizados pelos instrumentos para determinar AF suficiente e a prevalência da DL; e a utilização de medidas objetivas, em paralelo ao questionário, para avaliação da AF.

O exercício físico é eficaz na modulação dos marcadores inflamatórios circulantes da obesidade. Porém, pouco se sabe sobre os efeitos de intervenções com programas de exercícios físicos acompanhados de orientações nutricionais e/ou psicológicas, configurando-se como programas multicomponentes. Assim, o objetivo deste protocolo é propor uma revisão sistematicamente das evidências relacionadas aos efeitos de intervenções multicomponentes para perda de peso na modulação de marcadores inflamatórios circulantes em crianças e adolescentes. Para tanto, as seguintes bases de dados serão pesquisadas para identificar todos os artigos relevantes: PubMed, SciELO, Lilacs, Web of Science, EMBASE, Scopus, SPORT Discus. Serão incluídos ensaios clínicos randomizados e estudos quase experimentais com crianças e adolescentes (6 a 18 anos). As intervenções elegíveis terão como foco a melhora dos comportamentos relacionados ao peso (incluindo dieta, atividade física, modificação de comportamento e/ou combinações dos mesmos). Dois revisores independentes selecionarão estudos usando o software Rayyan QCRI e extrairão os dados em um formulário padrão. O principal resultado da revisão serão os valores circulantes de leptina, interleucina 6 (IL-6) e fator de necrose tumoral alfa (TNF-α) de forma quantitativa. Para avaliar a qualidade metodológica (ou risco de viés) de estudos individuais será utilizada a ferramenta de avaliação Effective Public Health Practice Project. A meta-análise será realizada no software Review Manager. Physical exercise is effective in modulating circulating inflammatory markers of obesity. However, little is known about the effects of interventions with physical exercise programs accompanied by nutritional and/or psychological guidance, configuring themselves as multicomponent programs. Thus, the aim of this review is to systematically evaluate the evidence related to the effects of multicomponent weight-loss interventions in modulating circulating inflammatory markers in children and adolescents. Therefore, the following databases will be searched to identify all relevant articles: PubMed, SciELO, Lilacs, Web of Science, EMBASE, Scopus, SPORT Discus. Randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental studies of children and adolescents (6 to 18 years old) will be included. Eligible interventions will target weight-related behaviors (including diet, physical activity, behavior modification and/or combinations thereof ). Two independent reviewers will select studies using Rayyan QCRI software and extract the data to a standard form. The main outcomes of the review will be the circulating values of leptin, interleukin 6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF- α) in a quantitative way. To assess the methodological quality (or risk of bias) of individual studies, Effective Public Health Practice Project assessment tool will be used. The meta-analysis will be performed using the Review Manager software.

Resumo Este estudo buscou identificar estratégias e intencionalidades relativas à promoção das práticas corporais / atividade física (PCAF) nas propostas de governo (PG) presidenciais (2018). Em posse das PG, realizamos leituras e buscas por termos relacionados a temática das PCAF. Para a análise dos dados, usamos elementos da análise de conteúdo temática. Em apenas seis (46,2%) das 13 PG deferidas foram encontradas menções às PCAF. Em cinco PG identificamos estratégias relacionadas ao esporte de recreação e em quatro às PCAF no ambiente escolar. Quanto às intencionalidades, percebemos desde aquelas mais ligadas à melhoria de aspectos clínicos de saúde e enfrentamento ao uso de drogas até as que assumem o entendimento do acesso das PCAF como direito de todos. Concluímos que o acesso às PCAF ainda não é reconhecido enquanto direito de todas as pessoas, uma vez que mais da metade das PG sequer apresenta menção ao tema e que as PG que abordaram esta temática diferiram bastante tanto em relação a suas estratégias e intencionalidades para sua promoção, indicando que o discurso sobre a promoção das PCAF pode servir a diferentes projetos de país, sendo necessária uma análise criteriosa a respeito de seus caminhos e intencionalidades. Abstract This study sought to identify strategies and intentions related to the promotion of bodily practices / physical activity (PCAF) in presidential government (PG) proposals (2018). In possession of the PG, we performed readings and searches for terms related to the PCAF theme. For data analysis, we used elements of thematic content analysis. In only six (46.2%) of the 13 deferred GPs, mentions to PCAF were found. In five PG we identified strategies related to recreational sport and in four to PCAF in the school environment. As for the intentions, we can see from those more linked to the improvement of clinical aspects of health and coping with drug use to those that assume the understanding of the access to the PCAF as a right for all. We conclude that access to PCAF is still not recognized as a right of all people, since more than half of the GPs do not even mention the topic and that the GPs that addressed this issue differed quite so much in relation to their strategies and intentions for their promotion, indicating that the discourse on the promotion of PCAF may apply to different country projects, and thus requires careful analysis of their paths and intentions.
