Abstract High‐intensity interval training (HIIT) has shown significant results in addressing adiposity and risk factors associated with obesity. However, there are no studies that investigate the effects of HIIT on contractility and intracellular Ca2+ handling. The purpose of this study was to explore the impact of HIIT on cardiomyocyte contractile function and intracellular Ca2+ handling in rats in which obesity was induced by a saturated high‐fat diet (HFD). Male Wistar rats were initially randomized into a standard diet and a HFD group. The experimental protocol spanned 23 weeks, comprising the induction and maintenance of obesity (15 weeks) followed by HIIT treatment (8 weeks). Performance was assessed using the maximum oxygen consumption test (V̇O2max). Evaluation encompassed cardiac, adipose and skeletal muscle histology, as well as contractility and intracellular Ca2+ handling. HIIT resulted in a reduction in visceral area, an increase in V̇O2max, and an augmentation of gastrocnemius fibre diameter in obese subjects. Additionally, HIIT led to a decrease in collagen fraction, an increase in percentage shortening, and a reduction in systolic Ca2+/percentage shortening and systolic Ca2+/maximum shortening rates. HIIT induces physiological cardiac remodelling, enhancing the contractile function of cardiomyocytes and improving myofilament sensitivity to Ca2+ in the context of obesity. This approach not only enhances cardiorespiratory and physical performance but also reduces visceral area and prevents interstitial fibrosis.

Background: Increasingly valuable, sophisticated, and powerful aircraft are developed and incorporated into the armed forces. Technological advances are notable for increasing physiological load during the flight, making human resources a limiting factor in such operations. It is necessary to understand the physiological demands to which aircraft pilots are exposed, especially combat pilots. Objective: This study aimed to present: i. the physiological consequences on the human body due to high accelerative forces during high-performance flights; ii. the efficiency of the Anti-G Straining Maneuver (AGSM) countermeasure to such consequences; and iii. the state of the art about surface electromyography's uses (sEMG) in AGSM. Method: It was conducted a bibliographic search in the PubMed database using the keywords “anti-G effort maneuver” and “electromyography” and their synonyms. After this, a narrative review of the results was performed. This research model allows a comprehensive discussion about the topic, enabling an in-depth contextualization in a prosperous field of study. These characteristics are suitable for detecting literature gaps and directing the research discussion. Discussion: There is a consensus in the literature that AGSM is the most effective resource to prevent loss of consciousness induced by G-load (G-LOC). The sEMG is an affordable and useful tool for AGSM training, especially given the unavailability of human centrifuges. The current literature on the application of sEMG in the context of AGSM training is limited, presenting a diversity of objectives, methodology, and analyzed parameters. Conclusion: The use of sEMG as real-time biofeedback can improve the pilot's muscle control skills during AGSM.

A incidência elevada de acidentes de trabalho com exposição à material biológico, acrescida ao seu impacto na morbimortalidade da população, consiste em um problema de saúde pública. Faz-se necessário estudos acerca das circunstâncias relacionadas, de modo a corroborar com a elaboração e implementação de práticas de promoção, prevenção e vigilância com melhor direcionamento e eficácia. O trabalho objetivou analisar as circunstâncias relacionadas aos acidentes de trabalho envolvendo materiais biológicos, no Brasil, de 2012 a 2022. Trata-se de um estudo epidemiológico descritivo e retrospectivo, quantitativo, documental indireto de casos notificados no Sistema de Informação de Agravos de Notificação. Os dados foram tabulados no TABWIN, realizado tratamento estatístico descritivo, apresentados em tabelas e discutidos com demais autores. Evidenciou-se maior notificação no Sudeste, com trabalhadores de nível técnico e ensino superior completo, principalmente profissionais da saúde da enfermagem e predominância de acidentes em procedimentos cirúrgicos, descarte inadequado e administração de medicações. Bem como, o inadequado preenchimento das notificações, com informações ignoradas, como evolução dos casos, uso de equipamentos de proteção, situação vacinal, material biológico exposto, tipo de exposição, etc. Conclui-se que tal situação dificulta o processo de elaboração de intervenções para melhorar esse cenário, além de evidenciar a inadequação do sistema brasileiro a respeito da saúde do trabalhador.

Developing affordable, rapid, and accurate biosensors is essential for SARS-CoV-2 surveillance and early detection. We created a bio-inspired peptide, using the SAGAPEP AI platform, for COVID-19 salivary diagnostics via a portable electrochemical device coupled to Machine Learning algorithms. SAGAPEP enabled molecular docking simulations against the SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein’s RBD, leading to the synthesis of Bio-Inspired Artificial Intelligence Peptide 1 (BIAI1). Molecular docking was used to confirm interactions between BIAI1 and SARS-CoV-2, and BIAI1 was functionalized on rhodamine-modified electrodes. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) using a [Fe(CN)6]3−/4 solution detected virus levels in saliva samples with and without SARS-CoV-2. Support vector machine (SVM)-based machine learning analyzed electrochemical data, enhancing sensitivity and specificity. Molecular docking revealed stable hydrogen bonds and electrostatic interactions with RBD, showing an average affinity of −250 kcal/mol. Our biosensor achieved 100% sensitivity, 80% specificity, and 90% accuracy for 1.8 × 10⁴ focus-forming units in infected saliva. Validation with COVID-19-positive and -negative samples using a neural network showed 90% sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy. This BIAI1-based electrochemical biosensor, integrated with machine learning, demonstrates a promising non-invasive, portable solution for COVID-19 screening and detection in saliva.

ABSTRACT Application of pig manure (PM) in agriculture can influence the amount and composition of soil organic matter (SOM). This study evaluated the changes in contents and stock of C in chemical fractions of SOM and the chemical and spectroscopic composition of humic substances (HS) in a Typic Hapludult (Argissolo Vermelho-Amarelo) after ten years of PM application. Experimental area received 90 and 180 kg ha-1 of N in the form of pig slurry (PS90 and PS180) and pig deep litter (DL90 and DL180), in addition to the control, without application (SA). Soil samples were prepared, and the chemical fractioning of SOM, elemental analysis, and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy of HS were performed. Applications of PM favored the accumulation of C in soil (up to 53 %), and PS180 increased humic acids (HA) (up to 185 %), while applications of DL favored the increase of hydrophilic substances extracted with HCl and humin (HU) (up to 10 times and 60 %, respectively). Applications of PS180 and DL180 promoted an increase in the aromatic and carboxylic character of the HS, increasing cationic exchange capacity. Therefore, PM applications, especially with DL, contribute positively to C fixation in the soil and the chemical composition of organic material.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Low back pain (LBP) is one of the leading causes of disability worldwide. Its etiology is multifactorial and results in losses for individuals and society. The biopsychosocial model of LBP offers a comprehensive approach to assessment and interventions. Researchers investigate the relationship between LBP and Common Mental Disorders (CMD) within this concept. This systematic review aimed to identify and analyze recent studies on the topic. CONTENTS: The study was submitted to the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (registration number CRD 42020210375). The 27 articles in the corpus were selected from the Medlin/PubMed and BVS (Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde) databases from 2015 to 2022. Only those that investigated a possible relationship between CMD (anxiety or depression) and LBP in adult populations were included. Most articles in the corpus confirmed the relationship between LBP and CMD, however, gaps were identified regarding the direction of causality between the two outcomes and why this relationship was established. Methodological limitations in relation to sample selection and LBP assessment instruments used were also identified. CONCLUSION: This review highlights the need for studies on the topic with greater methodological criteria and with a design that allows causality to be assessed. Thus, it will be possible to guide clinical practice based on scientific evidence. Longitudinal studies with an emphasis on the biopsychosocial model can contribute to support specific therapeutic approaches.

Abstract Background/objectives Myocardial infarction (MI) frequently leads to cardiac remodeling and failure with impaired life quality, playing an important role in cardiovascular deaths. Although physical exercise is a well-recognized effective non-pharmacological therapy for cardiovascular diseases, the effects of strength training (ST) on the structural and functional aspects of cardiac remodeling need to be further documented. In this study, we aimed to investigate the role of a linear block ST protocol in the rat model of MI. Methods and results After 6 weeks of MI induction or sham surgery, male adult rats performed ST for the following 12 weeks. The ladder-based ST program was organized in three mesocycles of 4 weeks, with one load increment for each block according to the maximal carrying load test. After 12 weeks, the infarcted-trained rats exhibited an increase in performance, associated with reduced cardiac hypertrophy and pulmonary congestion compared with the untrained group. Despite not changing MI size, the ST program partially prevented cardiac dilatation and ventricular dysfunction assessed by echocardiography and hemodynamics, and interstitial fibrosis evaluated by histology. In addition, isolated cardiac muscles from infarcted-trained rats had improved contractility parameters in a steady state, and in response to calcium or stimuli pauses. Conclusions The ST in infarcted rats increased the capacity to carry mass, associated with attenuation of cardiac remodeling and pulmonary congestion with improving cardiac function that could be attributed, at least in part, to the improvement of myocardial contractility.

Aborda a acessibilidade e a inclusão das pessoas com deficiência no contexto do Emergente Regime Global de Políticas de Informação. Debatea preocupação da área daCiência da Informação com os avanços nos estudos com relevância social sob a influência da transversalidade do quadro que compõe as infraestruturas de informação, a “modularidade”em plataformas digitais ea importânciadas redes colaborativas na produção e difusão de acervos acessíveis a pessoas com deficiência. Tem como objetivo trazer uma reflexão dessas ações e suas rupturas na prática dos profissionais da informação e as transformações que a própria biblioteca sofre enquanto protagonista desse processo. Utilizaa revisão de literatura do tipo narrativacomo abordagem metodológica, sendo a pesquisa identificada como do tipo exploratória, de caráter descritivo-analítico. Conclui que o estabelecimento depolíticas de informaçãosão fundamentais no sentido que dão segurança normativa para a implementação de políticas institucionais com vista apromover melhores práticas deacessibilidade e inclusãoem instituições sociais como as bibliotecas.

Introdução: Dietas restritivas associadas com o exercício física ainda são ferramentas utilizadas para alcançar a perda de peso, sendo essas restrições calóricas capazes de acarretar uma diminuição na ingestão energética diária em até 40%. Estudos têm sugerido que suplementações mínimas de CHO em dietas restritivas podem ajudar para praticantes de exercício físico em relação a indicadores de performance. Objetivo: Determinar a influência de dietas restritivas em praticantes eutróficos de exercícios físicos e auxiliar futuras pesquisas sob a condição de restrição energética. Materiais e métodos: Essa revisão sistemática foi elaborada por seleção de estudos através de banco de dados de pesquisa eletrônica no período de 2013 a outubro de 2018 (últimos 5 anos) usando as palavras chaves dieta restritiva, ou restrição, ou energia, treinamento de força, ou treino resistido. Foram considerados elegíveis para o estudo (n=9) em homens adultos (≥18 anos) do sexo masculino, com restrição calórica e treino de resistência ou de força. Resultados: A porcentagem de gordura corporal, diminuiu (0,7–10,0%) em todos os grupos de estudo (n=5) e a massa isenta de gordura não apresentou redução significativa (p>0,58) (59,9 vs. 58,9 kg). Os grupos (n=5) desta revisão, não apresentava gordura corporal elevada e que sofreu restrição calórica substancial (tipo de modalidade esportiva), sem novos estímulos de treinamento, consumiram menores quantidades dos principais macronutrientes. Conclusão: A restrição calórica, promoveu a redução na composição corporal, observando que as prescrições nutricionais, são muito importantes para o rendimento físico do atleta.

O texto a seguir propõe um diálogo entre dois intelectuais da chamada “Teoria do Reconhecimento”, Charles Taylor e Axel Honneth; e a intelectual brasileira Nilma Lino Gomes, cujo campo de atuação e pesquisa problematiza as relações étnico-raciais e de gênero na educação. Esse diálogo teórico visa contribuir com a análise da atuação do Museu do Patrimônio Vivo da Grande João Pessoa – um museu comunitário criado no ano de 2012 – no desenvolvimento de ações educativas em bairros periféricos da região metropolitana da capital paraibana. Com isso, a intenção deste artigo é colocar em discussão as possibilidades e os aspectos teóricos da cultura e da identidade no campo da educação antirracista, em espaços de educação não formal, que tratam do patrimônio cultural, sobretudo no que se refere à aproximação com as políticas afirmativas e as esferas do reconhecimento como possibilidades analíticas no campo da educação.

Objective: To verify whether an infiltrant resin used to inactivate white spot lesions (WSL) on enamel can resist the abrasive challenges promoted by tooth brushing with different dentifrices. Material and Methods: WSL was induced on bovine enamel samples (pH cycling) and then treated with an infiltrant resin (ICON). Afterward, half of the sample was protected. The other half underwent an abrasive challenge using an electric toothbrush with soft bristles., using dentifrices with different abrasiveness (n=10): Group 1: Colgate Maximum Cavity Protection; Group 2: Sensodyne Repair & Protect; Group 3: Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief; Group 4: Colgate 2 in 1 Watermelon Flavor; e Group 5: Colgate Luminous White Advanced. The wear profile after brushing was evaluated by confocal laser scanning microscopy (µm), and the enamel/resin interface was observed in scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Profilometry data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA followed by Tukey's test (α=5%). Results: Brushing produced more significant wear on group 5 (3.96±0.26) when compared to groups 1 (3.45±0.21), 2(3.22±0,4) and 4(3.11±0.34). Data from Group 3 (3.82±0.6) was similar to G5 but higher than G1, G2, and G4. SEM analysis showed that the adhesive interface remained intact in all groups after the abrasive challenge. Conclusion: Dentifrices with a higher relative dentin abrasiveness produced more significant wear of the infiltrant, but the composite/enamel interface was not altered after the abrasive challenges.

Abstract Objective: To evaluate and compare the sexual function and pelvic floor muscles (PFM) function of women with endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain (CPP) with and without Myofascial Pelvic Pain Syndrome (MPPS). Methods: Cross-sectional study conducted between January 2018 and December 2020. Women with deep endometriosis underwent assessments for trigger points (TP) and PFM function using the PERFECT scale. Electromyographic activity (EMG) and sexual function through Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) were assessed. Statistical analyses included chi-square and Mann-Whitney tests. Results: There were 46 women. 47% had increased muscle tone and 67% related TP in levator ani muscle (LAM). Weakness in PFM, with P≤2 was noted in 82% and P≥3 in only 17%. Incomplete relaxation of PFM presented in 30%. EMG results were resting 6.0, maximal voluntary isometric contraction (MVIC) 61.9 and Endurance 14.2; FSFI mean total score 24.7. Abstract Waterborne polyurethane (WPU) coatings used for moisture protection of surfaces have been used broadly. They have been considered environmentally friendly because their synthesis releases less or no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) to the atmosphere. With the Covid-19 pandemic concerns, cleaning protocols of these surfaces have been applied and scientific knowledge about the effects of these liquids on WPU surfaces is necessary. In this work, diffusion experiments were performed using four liquids, in pure WPU and WPU filled with graphene oxide (GO). Detergent had the most severe effect on polyurethane films, causing severe cracks and weight loss. Diffusion parameters of HCl 5% and HCl 10% were greater in WPU/GO nanocomposites than in pure WPU. Mechanical tests under chemical aging showed that alcohol reduced most the tensile strength and Young modulus. Overall, GO protected the films for all liquid exposures, increasing their tensile strength and Young modulus.

Resumo Objetivo Apresentar as evidências de validade baseadas no conteúdo e nos processos de resposta da Escala de Coping para a Fala em Público (ECOFAP). Método Estudo metodológico de elaboração e validação de instrumento. Seguiu-se o modelo de elaboração de instrumentos com procedimentos teóricos, empíricos e analíticos, baseados nos critérios de validade do Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing (SEPT). O processo de obtenção das evidências de validade baseadas no conteúdo foi realizado em duas etapas: 1) definição conceitual do construto, elaborado com base nos preceitos teóricos da fala em público e da Teoria Motivacional do Coping (TMC); 2) elaboração dos itens e chave de respostas, estruturação do instrumento, avaliação por comitê de dez especialistas, reestruturação dos itens da escala, realizada em três momentos, até a elaboração da versão piloto da ECOFAP. O processo de resposta foi realizado com amostra de conveniência de 30 indivíduos, com e sem dificuldades de fala em público, no campus de uma universidade brasileira, pertencentes a diferentes extratos sociais e profissões. Nesse processo, foram analisadas qualitativamente as reações verbais e não verbais dos respondentes. Resultados A primeira versão da ECOFAP, composta por 46 itens, foi avaliada pelos juízes e posteriormente reformulada, resultando em uma segunda versão com 60 itens. Essa segunda versão foi novamente submetida à análise de especialistas e calculado o índice de validade de conteúdo por item. Foram excluídos 18 itens, originando uma terceira versão de 42 itens. As evidências de validade com base nos processos de resposta da versão de 42 itens foram aplicadas em uma amostra de 30 indivíduos, resultando na reescrita de um item e inclusão de mais seis itens, originando a versão piloto da ECOFAP de 48 itens. Conclusão A versão piloto da ECOFAP apresenta itens bem estruturados semântica e sintaticamente que representam estratégias de enfrentamento para a fala em público.

Introduction: Leishmaniasis is caused by protozoa of the genus Leishmania, classified as tegumentary and visceral. The disease treatment is still a serious problem, due to the toxic effects of available drugs, the costly treatment and reports of parasitic resistance, making the search for therapeutic alternatives urgent. This study assessed the in vitro anti-leishmanial potential of the extract, fractions, and isoeleutherin from Eleutherine plicata, as well as the in silico interactions of isoeleutherin and its analogs with Trypanothione Reductase (TR), in addition to predicting pharmacokinetic parameters.Methods: From the ethanolic extract of E. plicata (EEEp) the dichloromethane fraction (FDEp) was obtained, and isoeleutherin isolated. All samples were tested against promastigotes, and parasite viability was evaluated. Isoeleutherin analogues were selected based on similarity in databases (ZINK and eMolecules) to verify the impact on structural change.Results and Discussion: The extract and its fractions were not active against the promastigote form (IC50 > 200 μg/mL), while isoeleutherin was active (IC50 = 25 μg/mL). All analogues have high intestinal absorption (HIA), cell permeability was moderate in Caco2 and low to moderate in MDCK. Structural changes interfered with plasma protein binding and blood-brain barrier permeability. Regarding metabolism, all molecules appear to be CYP3A4 metabolized and inhibited 2–3 CYPs. Molecular docking and molecular dynamics assessed the interactions between the most stable configurations of isoeleutherin, analogue compound 17, and quinacrine (control drug). Molecular dynamics simulations demonstrated stability and favorable interactions with TR. In summary, fractionation contributed to antileishmanial activity and isoleutherin seems to be promising. Structural alterations did not contribute to improve pharmacokinetic aspects and analogue 17 proved to be more promising than isoeleutherin, presenting better stabilization in TR.

Abstract The pathogenic nature of infections caused by Candida spp. underscores the necessity for novel therapeutic agents. Extracts of Schinopsis brasilienses Engl are \ a promising source of agents with antifungal effects. This study aimed to assess the antifungal potential of the leaf extract of S. brasilienses. The antifungal activity was evaluated by determining the minimum inhibitory concentrations and fungicide concentrations (MIC and MFC). The antibiofilm potential was assessed by counting colony-forming units/mL. The study examined the inhibition kinetics of fungal growth and potential synergism between gallic acid or the extract and nystatin using the Checkerboard method. Cytotoxicity was evaluated through the MTT assay. The extract exhibited antifungal effect against all tested strains, with MIC and MFC ranging from 31.25–250 μg/mL. Gallic acid, the main isolated compound, displayed a MIC of 2000 μg/mL. The extract of S. brasilienses at 31.25 μg/mL inhibited the formation of biofilm by C. albicans and significantly reduced the mass of mature biofilm after 24 and 48 h (p < 0. 05). At a concentration of 125 μg/mL, the extract demonstrated significant inhibition of fungal growth after 6 hours. The combination of gallic acid or extract with nystatin did not exhibit synergistic or antagonistic effect. Furthermore, the extract did not induce cytotoxicity to a human cell line. The extract of S. brasiliensis demonstrates antifungal activity against Candida, generally exhibiting fungicidal action and capacity to inhibit biofilm formation as well as reduce mature biofilms. Additionally, the extract showed low cytotoxicity to human cells.

Objetivo: A alta incidência de pessoas com deficiência é uma questão global que preocupa a criação de políticas. O artigo tem como objetivo analisar os planos de desenvolvimento institucional de universidades no Brasil, a Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) e a Universidade Federal do Rio de janeiro (UFRJ) e em Portugal, a Universidade do Porto e a Universidade de Lisboa para verificar se há políticas direcionadas à inclusão social de pessoas com deficiência, bem como se há menção da biblioteca universitária nesses planos. Método: A metodologia utilizada é a revisão de literatura seguida de análise de conteúdo de Bardin (2009). Resultado: Discute a preocupação com a inclusão e permanência dessas pessoas no ensino superior tanto no Brasil quanto em Portugal. Estudos sobre Regime de Informação na Ciência da Informação enfatizam a inclusão de grupos socialmente excluídos. Conclusões: Conclui que os planos de desenvolvimento institucional incorporaram ações voltadas à acessibilidade e inclusão, incluindo orientações para que as bibliotecas sejam inclusivas em todas as esferas de acessibilidade. Nota-se que as políticas institucionais são a melhor forma de incluir pessoas em situações de vulnerabilidade social.

Abstract We investigated Aspidosperma discolor fruiting in three subpopulations in the inland Atlantic Forest of Northeastern Brazil, to better understand how local and global factors (such as the El Niño Southern Oscillation - ENSO) drive fruiting, and how functional traits are related to its dispersal potential and spatial distribution. Observations of mature fruits with dispersing seeds were carried out between 1993 and 2012. Dispersal potential was evaluated using seeds released at two different heights. Spatial distribution was analyzed using the Standardized Morisita dispersal index. A. discolor displayed seasonal fruiting during the dry season in all subpopulations, with variations in their average dates but without significant interannual variations in the proportions of fruiting individuals. The undulate seeds had average dispersal distances between 57.36 and 79.54 m. We found a random distribution pattern of the trees. The seasonal dry/rainy regime influenced fruiting and dispersal patterns, and seeds were released during the dry season (even in ENSO years). So, we demonstrate the importance of wind dispersal as a driving factor of fruiting, associated with an abiotic filter (low humidity) during the dry season. Additionally, the aerodynamic nature of the undulate diaspore and its dispersal potential influenced the random pattern of spatial distribution of A. discolor.

Diante de mudanças na dinâmica da sociedade e de estrutura familiar, Instituições de Longa Permanência para Idosos (ILPIs) são cada vez mais alternativa de morada para esta população. Este estudo objetivou compreender as perspectivas de idosos residentes em ILPIs sobre seus contextos de desenvolvimento. Participaram 15 idosos de ILPI pública, privada ou filantrópica. Utilizamos questionários de identificação e entrevistas semiestruturadas. Apesar de queixas, as instituições foram avaliadas positivamente, podendo representar ambiente propício para repouso, oferecendo segurança, companhia e acesso à direitos básicos. Mas, também foram associadas ao abandono, depósito, prisão, inclusive à morte.

RESUMO Desde o seu surgimento na década de 1990, as hashtags têm sido usadas com diferentes funções discursivas na internet e se tornado uma marca importante nesse ambiente. Neste trabalho, discutimos como elas, funcionando como um link, podem estabelecer relações intertextuais tanto em ambientes digitais quanto não digitais. Defendemos, à luz de Carvalho (2018), a hashtag como um diálogo marcado entre textos, ou seja, uma ocorrência intertextual por meio da qual um texto alude a um conjunto de textos, uma vez que, ao evocá-la, o usuário estabelece uma relação tangível com um conjunto inespecífico de textos. Para isso, analisamos três hashtags, sendo duas em ambiente digital, o Twitter, e uma em espaço não digital, as ruas da cidade de Fortaleza. À luz dos estudos da Linguística de Texto (Cavalcante et al, 2019), buscamos mostrar que, mesmo nascidas e pensadas no âmbito digital, as hashtags mantêm sua vitalidade em espaços não digitais.

Objetivo: compreender as Representações Sociais do planejamento e do desejo de exercer a maternidade em gestantes usuárias de drogas que vivencia/vivenciou a gravidez na adolescência. Método: estudo qualitativo, descritivo, fundamentado na Teoria das Representações Sociais. Foram entrevistadas 10 adolescentes que vivenciaram a gestação e o uso de drogas. A análise dos dados foi realizada a partir da Análise Textual Discursiva. Resultados: os resultados apontaram falta de conhecimento sobre aspectos da vida sexual e uso de anticoncepcionais. A droga ocupou o espaço vazio de solidão e medo, sendo uma forma encontrada pelas adolescentes de lidar com os problemas da vida. Apesar de muitas não terem planejado a gestação, esse processo motivou a diminuição do uso da substância. Conclusão: o estudo revelou a necessidade de diálogo sobre o processo gestacional na adolescência e uso de drogas, bem como, a importância de pesquisas e ações governamentais que abordem este problema de saúde pública.

Candida species are frequently implicated in the development of both superficial and invasive fungal infections, which can impact vital organs. In the quest for novel strategies to combat fungal infections, there has been growing interest in exploring synthetic and semi-synthetic products, particularly chromone derivatives, renowned for their antimicrobial properties. In the analysis of the antifungal activity of the compound (E)-benzylidene-chroman-4-one against Candida, in silico and laboratory tests were performed to predict possible mechanisms of action pathways, and in vitro tests were performed to determine antifungal activity (MIC and MFC), to verify potential modes of action on the fungal cell membrane and wall, and to assess cytotoxicity in human keratinocytes. The tested compound exhibited predicted affinity for all fungal targets, with the highest predicted affinity observed for thymidylate synthase (−102.589 kJ/mol). MIC and CFM values ranged from 264.52 μM (62.5 μg/mL) to 4232.44 μM (1000 μg/mL). The antifungal effect likely occurs due to the action of the compound on the plasma membrane. Therefore, (E)-benzylidene-chroman-4-one showed fungicidal-like activity against Candida spp., possibly targeting the plasma membrane.
