Background: Emergency observation unit in China are characterized by a high number of patients, complexity of diseases, and instability of patient conditions, leading to low patient satisfaction. The Kano model is an effective method widely used to identify customer demands and improve service quality to enhance customer satisfaction. However, its application in emergency observation unit has been studied less. This study aims to design a questionnaire based on the Kano model and identify the demands of emergency observation patients to determine priorities for improvements in the emergency observation unit and improve patient satisfaction. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in Guizhou Provincial People's Hospital from March 21st, 2023, to May 20th, 2023. A convenient sampling method was used to recruit 100 patients from the emergency observation unit, who completed a questionnaire designed based on the Kano model to assess their demands for care service. Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 28.0 software. The element selection line and sensitivity analysis were used to determine factors for patient service demand improvement. Results: A total of 13 patient service demands for improvement were screened out from 19 service demands, including 1 item of must-be quality (M), 11 item of one-dimensional quality (O), and 1 item of attractive quality (A), These attributes showed significant differences in patients’ sociodemographic characteristics. Conclusion: The Kano model is a valuable tool for identifying the characteristics of patients' service demands, and the element screening method can be employed to establish the hierarchy of these demands. These results offer crucial direction for creating forthcoming nursing management initiatives in emergency observation unit.

Abstract Background A patient-centred approach is increasingly the mandate for healthcare delivery, especially with the growing emergence of chronic conditions. A relevant but often overlooked obstacle to delivering person-centred care is the identification and consideration of all demands based on individual experience, not only disease-based requirements. Mindful of this approach, there is a need to explore how patient demands are expressed and considered in healthcare delivery systems. This study aims to: (i) understand how different types of demands expressed by patients are taken into account in the current delivery systems operated by Health Care Organisations (HCOs); (ii) explore the often overlooked content of specific non-clinical demands (i.e. demands related to interactions between disease treatments and everyday life). Method We adopted a mixed method in two cancer centres, representing exemplary cases of organisational transformation: (i) circulation of a questionnaire to assess the importance that breast cancer patients attach to every clinical (C) and non-clinical (NC) demand identified in an exploratory inquiry, and the extent to which each demand has been taken into account based on individual experiences; (ii) a qualitative analysis based on semi-structured interviews exploring the content of specific NC demands. Results Further to the way in which the questionnaires were answered (573 answers/680 questionnaires printed) and the semi-structured interviews (36) with cancer patients, results show that NC demands are deemed by patients to be almost as important as C demands (C = 6.53/7 VS. NC = 6.13), but are perceived to be considered to a lesser extent in terms of pathway management (NC = 4.02 VS C = 5.65), with a significant variation depending on the type of non-clinical demands expressed. Five types of NC demands can be identified: demands relating to daily life, alternative medicine, structure of the treatment pathway, administrative and logistic assistance and demands relating to new technologies. Conclusions This study shows that HCOs should be able to consider non-clinical demands in addition to those referring to clinical needs. These demands require revision of the healthcare professionals’ mandate and transition from a supply-orientated system towards a demand-driven approach throughout the care pathway. Other sectors have developed hospitality management, mass customisation and personalisation to scale up approaches that could serve as inspiring examples.

Aim: To determine the pattern of demand for endodontic treatment among patients attending Aleulawih dental speciality center in Baghdad, Iraq. Method: A retrospective review of the patients' dental records who attended the Conservative Dental Clinic of Aleulawih dental speciality center in Baghdad, Iraq from January 2018 to October 2018 for root canal therapy (RCT) was done. The demographic and clinical data were retrieved from the patients' records and analyzed using the SPSS version 20. The data were categorized as follows: 1- The total number of maxillary and mandibular teeth. 2- The number of each individual tooth group treated. 3- The number of teeth treated in age groups (10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49,50-59,60-69,70 and above) years. 4- The total number of treatments performed in males and females patients. Results and Conclusion: The maxillary teeth showed higher percentage (56.3%) of root canal treatment than mandibular teeth (43.7%), while mandibular 1st molars show higher percentage (56.2%) in the treated cases than other teeth. The highest incidence of root canal treatment was found in the age group twenty to twenty-nine (29.2%). The male patients were more frequent (50.3%) than female patients. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: To discuss the demands and countermeasures for outpatients and emergency patients during the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in large general hospital., Methods: By analyzing patients' demands, outpatient service system and emergency system complemented each other with the help of "internet medical" to provide online medical treatment, self-diagnosed pneumonia program, online pharmacies, outpatient appointment and online pre-examination services, open green channels for special patients, and to provide referral services for critical patients. The COVID-19 suspected patients and other common fever patients were separated from other patients., Results: From January 28 to March 1, we have received 26 000 patients online, 1 856 special patients, 2 929 suspected patients and common fever patients including 31 confirmed patients, 0 case of misdiagnosis and cross-infection., Conclusions: Targeting patient's demands and taking appropriate measures are effective on meeting the needs of outpatients' and emergency patients' medical services.
