With the expansion of industrial activities in developing countries like Bangladesh, the purchase of motorized vehicles is also growing in recent days. This increased number of motorized vehicles is creating massive pressure on the logistic movement in industrial areas, and the performance level of roadways is deteriorating day by day. It has become quite difficult to meet the need for a reliable transportation system that can provide good compatibility for road users and logistical operations. Kanchpur Industrial Area can be classified as an industrial hub of Narayanganj District due to the presence of jute trading and plant processing industries. Over the years two bridges have been constructed in the proximity of this area named, the Kanchpur Bridge and Sultana Kamal Bridge to decrease the pressure on N2 National Highway; however, the situation is still not satisfactory and construction of a third bridge over the Shitalakhya River is under consideration by the Government of Bangladesh (GOB). Dhaka-Sylhet Highway is a section of the N2 National Highway system which connects the industrial district Kanchpur with Dhaka City. The main objectives of the study were to develop a methodology which can be used to measure the Level of Service (LOS) of roadways located in developing countries and use it to understand the necessity of the construction of the third Shitalakhya Bridge. LOS measurement procedures suitable for developed countries are not useable for developing countries due to the difference in road geometry, presence of non-motorized vehicles, and control delay at intersections. A procedure has been developed to measure LOS by combining standards of the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chandigarh, India; Highway Capacity Manual (HCM), USA; and Roads and Highway Department (RHD), Bangladesh. LOS measurement was based on four parameters: Peak Hour Factor (PHF), Travel Speed, Load Factor, and Volume/Capacity Ratio (VCR). The data analysis shows that the LOS value of the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway varies within the range from “E'' to “F'', and construction of the third Shitalakhya Bridge will significantly improve the roadway condition.

Estimation of passenger car unit (PCU) values is very important for traffic capacity analysis and other relevant applications such as determining the saturation flow rate and signal design. However, the usual methods are not completely analogous for mixed traffic due to the presence of a wide variety of vehicle types, poor lane discipline, variability of intraclass vehicles. The parameters required for PCU estimation under mixed traffic are relatively more complex to measure, causing a severe data limitation. The accurate estimation of PCUs relies on the collection of sufficient amounts of data, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) like drones are used in recent years by researchers as they significantly reduce efforts of data collection and extraction. This paper illustrates three methods for PCU estimation under mixed traffic on two signalized intersections of China using UAV monitoring data. The first method is based on the travel time of a vehicle while clearing the intersection. The second method is based on the average speed estimated in terms of different vehicle categories. The lagging headway ratio is used as the basis for PCU estimation in the third method. The author explores the effect of the driving direction and compared the PCU values at different time periods. The results show that the PCU value of vehicles turning left is always greater than that of going straight. The usage of a combined parameter is more appropriate than a single parameter in mixed traffic. The values are similar to those of India but are quite different from the United States. This research mainly aims to give input to Semarang Local Government in the efficiency of electricity utilization to the street illumination and the management of income tax from the societies, so they can be utilized optimally, directly, and in integrated way in order to the management of city infrastructures service. This research using the influence of traffic passenger car unit (pcu) for optimizing in a low density of traffic condition. The data of the Average Daily Traffic (ADT) volume on Pahlawan street was gathered from 6.00 p.m-6.00 a.m in every 15 minutes. The data was analyzed using quartile technique with K1 (25%) and K2 (50 %), then the researcher designed a line chart table of a link between the ADT and the time of the electricity switching on. In working days, the results are (1) the efficient time of street illumination in K1 (25%) was between 10.30 p.m-3.45 a.m, (2) in K2 (50%) was between 9.45 p.m-4.30 a.m. Due to the security and the beauty of the town and also considering the density of the traffic, the optimization and the dimming of the electricity are not needed in holidays. The optimization using ballast dimming (40%) from 250 watt to 150 watt for all lamps, obtained a significant account 32,4 Lx for average illumination. It is still fulfill the minimal requirement of 7 Lx for the average illumination on the collector street type. The optimization with dimming system obtained an efficiency in K1 (25%) was 23.16% and in K2 (50%) was 25,05%.

Traffic congestion is a major problemof fastgrowing metropolises due to the constant mobility of people and goods. The main objective of this study was to identify existing and potential future traffic operations at Pindi Bypass and Chan Da Qillaintersections of Gujranwala along Grand Trunk (G.T) road and to evaluate potential future intersection improvements. Each intersection was analysed using the software SIDRA (Signalised&unsignalised Intersection Design and Research Aid). The traffic counts were conducted in which directional movements of selected intersections were recorded. The volumes were later converted into Passenger Car Unit (PCU) using equivalency factors mentioned in Punjab Geometric Design Manual (PGDM). Delay and Volume/Capacity (V/C) Ratio model was employed for Level of Service (Los)calculation. It was observed that the demand was more in comparison to the capacity of selected intersections. In order to alleviate the problems and accommodate the rising traffic of selected intersections several improvements were recommended and mentioned in detail with in depth traffic analysis.
