Selected values are given for the thermochemical properties of the compounds of thorium. They are obtained from a computer-assisted least sums-least squares approach to the evaluation of thermodynamic data networks. The properties given, where data are available, are enthalpy of formation, Gibbs energy of formation, and entropy at 298.15 K (delta Hf (298), delta Gf (298), and S (298)). The values are consistent with the CODATA Key Values for Thermodynamics. The reaction catalog from which this self consistent set of values is generated is given with a statistical analysis. Some thermal functions are also given, as well as detailed comments when necessary. (Author)

Selected thermochemical properties data at 298.15 K are given for 384 substances. The data are compatible with the current recommendations of the CODATA Task Group on Key Values for Thermodynamics. The set of values provided here is suitable for use as auxiliary data in evaluations of the thermochemical properties of compounds of the actinide elements. Tables are presented here of values of thermochemical properties and processes at 298.15 K for substances of interest to DOE for flue gas desulfurization. The substances covered are (1) the aqueous ions: OH(-1); SO3(-2), HSO3(-1), SO4(-4), HSO4(-1), CO3(-2), HCO3(-1), H(+), Mn(+2), Fe(+2), Mg(+2), Ca(+2), Na(+), and K(+), and (2) solid, liquid, aqueous, and gaseous compounds or species formed from these ions. The tables contain the following: The thermochemical property values, enthalpy of formation, Gibbs energy of formation, entropy, and heat capacity, all at 298.15 K, as well as the enthalpy difference between 298.15 K and O K, for the basic species cited above. The property values, phi L, the relative apparent molar enthalpy, from the mean ionic activity coefficient, and the osmotic coefficient, for binary aqueous systems at 298.15 K, all as a function of concentration. All of the values given are consistent with the NBS TN 270 Series.

Selected values are given for the thermochemical properties of the more common compounds of sodium and potassium. A more extensive set of selections is provided for rubidium compounds. The properties included, where data are available, are enthalpy of formation at O K and 298.15 K, delta Hf(O) and delta Hf(298), Gibbs energy of formation, entropy and heat capacity at 298.15 K; delta Gf(298), S(298) and Cp(298), and the enthalpy difference between O K and 298.15 K, H(298) -H(O). The values are consistent with the tables issued earlier in the NBS Technical Note 270 series. (Author)

Recommended values are provided for chemical thermodynamic properties of inorganic substances and for organic substances usually containing only one or two carbon atoms. Where available, values are given for the enthalpy of formation, Gibbs energy of formation, entropy, and heat capacity at 298.15 K (25 C), the enthalpy difference between 298.15 and 0 K and the enthalpy of formation at 0 K. All values are given in SI units and are for a standard state pressure of 100 000 pascal. This volume is a new collective edition of 'Selected Values of Chemical Thermodynamic Properties,' which was issued serially as National Bureau of Standards Technical Notes 270-1 (1965) to 270-8 (1981). Values are given for properties of gaseous, liquid and crystalline substances, for solutions in water, and for mixed aqueous and organic solutions. Values are not given for alloys or other solid solutions, fused salts or for substances of undefined composition. Compounds of the transuranium elements are not included.
