As dementia is becoming a great challenge worldwide, modifying its risk factors is a primary preventive approach. However, there is a scarcity of integrated efforts to determine dementia-specific factors that influence preventive behaviors, particularly when considering a theoretical framework. Therefore, this scoping review aimed to map the evidence on factors affecting dementia-preventive behaviors based on the PRECEDE framework. Five electronic databases—PubMed, PsycINFO, CINAHL, EMBASE, and Cochrane CENTRAL—were searched for articles published until May 2022, and only peer-reviewed studies were included to gather robust evidence. During the initial search, 37,331 articles were retrieved. Of these, 22 articles met the inclusion criteria and were included in the evidence synthesis. The scoping review identified 28 specific determinants within the six conceptual categories of the PRECEDE framework, thereby highlighting the multi-dimensional nature of factors influencing dementia-preventive behaviors. Future studies should consider multilevel and multi-dimensional personalized strategies to promote dementia-preventive behavior. Plain Language Summary: Our study focused on understanding the factors that influence dementia-preventive behaviors. We aimed to identify these factors using a theoretical framework called PRECEDE, which could guide future preventive strategies. To gather reliable evidence, we conducted a scoping review by searching five electronic databases for peer-reviewed articles published until May 2022. After a thorough search, we analyzed 22 articles that met our inclusion criteria. Through our review, we identified twenty-eight specific factors within six conceptual categories of the PRECEDE framework that affect dementia-preventive behaviors. This finding emphasizes the complex and multi-dimensional nature of these factors and their impact on dementia preventive efforts. Our study's findings have important implications for promoting dementia prevention. To be effective, future preventive strategies should consider personalized approaches that target multiple levels and dimensions, addressing the diverse factors influencing individuals' behaviors. We acknowledge some limitations in our study. We focused on individual-level factors and did not explore administrative and policy aspects that could also influence dementia prevention. Additionally, the majority of the included studies were conducted in Asian countries, potentially limiting the generalizability of our findings to other cultural contexts. Further research should consider these aspects for a more comprehensive understanding of dementia prevention. In conclusion, our study contributes valuable insights to dementia prevention efforts. By addressing the identified factors, healthcare professionals and policymakers can design more effective interventions to protect cognitive health and enhance the overall well-being of individuals at risk of dementia. Aim: To determine how nurses' experiences with the coronavirus disease (COVID‐19) pandemic affected their knowledge, awareness, and compliance related to the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during the COVID‐19 pandemic in South Korea. Design: A descriptive cross‐sectional study. Methods: A total of 247 nurses in South Korea participated in this study between May 10 and 19, 2023. An online self‐report questionnaire was used to collect data on demographic and occupational characteristics, COVID‐19 experience, knowledge, awareness, and compliance related to the use of PPE. Factors affecting compliance were analysed using hierarchical multiple linear regression. Results: Mean age of the nurses was 31.92, and 94.3% were women. Most had a bachelor's degree or higher and the mean clinical experience as a nurse was 6.45 years. Knowledge of the use of PPE was 8.45 out of 10, awareness was 3.52 out of 5, and compliance was 4.28 out of 5. Knowledge and awareness were correlated with compliance related to PPE use. Awareness (β = 0.234, p < 0.001), knowledge (β = 0.218, p < 0.001), experience caring for COVID‐19 patients (β = 0.234, p = 0.004), optional fourth dose vaccine (β = 0.150, p = 0.017), clinical experience (β = 0.140, p = 0.022), and COVID‐19 infection control education (β = 0.115, p = 0.037) were found to have a significant impact on compliance. Conclusion: During the COVID‐19 pandemic, nurses' knowledge and awareness of PPE use was a crucial factor in compliance. factors such as clinical experience, experience in caring for COVID‐19 patients, optional vaccination, and completion of COVID‐19 education also influenced compliance. Background and Objectives The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of an information and communication technologies (ICT)-enhanced, multidisciplinary integrated care model, called Systems for Person-centered Elder Care (SPEC), on frail older adults at nursing homes. Research Design and Methods SPEC was implemented at 10 nursing homes in South Korea in random order using a stepped-wedge design. Data were collected on all participating older residents in the homes before the first implementation and until 6 months after the last implementation. The 21-month SPEC intervention guided by the chronic care model (CCM) consists of 5 strategies: comprehensive geriatric assessment, care planning, optional interdisciplinary case conferences, care coordination, and a cloud-based ICT tool along with a free messaging app. The primary outcome was quality of care measured by a composite quality indicator (QI) from the interRAI assessment system. Usual care continued over the control periods. Nursing home staff were not blinded to the intervention. Results There were a total of 482 older nursing home residents included in the analysis. Overall quality of care measured by the composite QI was significantly improved (adjusted mean difference: −0.025 [95% CI: −0.037 to −0.014, p <.0001]). The intervention effect was consistent in the subgroup analysis by cognition and activities of daily living. There were no important adverse events or side effects. Discussion and Implications The SPEC, a CCM-guided, ICT-supported, multidisciplinary integrated care management intervention, can improve the quality of care measured by health and functional outcomes for frail older persons residing in nursing homes with limited health care provision. This study aimed to investigate suicide ideation and attempts in older women living alone and to identify the factors affecting suicide ideation. Methods: This is a cross-sectional correlational study using secondary data analysis. Original data (n=1,023) were collected using face-to-face interviews from August to October 2018 in Siheung city to investigate the need for health care and daily life support services. Study participants were 297 older women (age=74.67±5.35), with inclusion criteria being women≥65 years old and living alone, those without cognitive impairment(Mini-Mental State Examination-2 Standard Version (MMSE-2 SV)≥24), and those who could evaluate instrumental activities of daily living. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, independent t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple linear regression analysis. Results: Data analysis showed 26.9% of participants reported suicide ideation with a frequency of 4.14 out of 10 points. Among study participants, 8.8% had attempted suicide with an average of 2.65 attempts. Participants who had children thought about suicide more than those who did not. Living children, personal income, participation in economic activity, social support, depression, chronic diseases, frailty, and suicide attempts were significantly correlated with suicide ideation. Therefore, depression, frailty and suicide attempts were factors affecting suicide ideation for older women living alone. Conclusion: Our findings provide evidence that evaluating depression, frailty, and history of suicide attempts is important for suicide prevention in older women living alone. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
