In this letter, a mm‐wave monolithic ceramic waveguide filter using a transition between a grounded coplanar waveguide (GCPW) feed and a ceramic waveguide has been proposed. The published studies on monolithic ceramic waveguide filters with wideband properties for the mm‐wave are lacking. A desired external quality factor, satisfying wide bandwidth, is achieved using both inductive and capacitive couplings in the transition. The inductive coupling is realized with a waveguide's hole directly connected to the microstrip line probe of the GCPW. The capacitive coupling is employed with the slots of both GCPW and ceramic waveguide, which are placed facing each other. Adopting the presented transition, the inline monolithic ceramic waveguide filter for a fourth‐order Chebyshev response was designed. The fabricated filter provided the insertion and return losses of lower than 1.2 dB and higher than 10 dB, respectively, at frequencies from 26.43 to 29.76 GHz, with a fractional bandwidth of 11.85%. A direct and comprehensive comparative study on different 3D printing modalities was performed. We employed two representative 3D printing modalities, laser‐ and extrusion‐based, which are currently used to produce patient‐specific medical implants for clinical translation, to assess how these two different 3D printing modalities affect printing outcomes. The same solid and porous constructs were created from the same biomaterial, a blend of 96% poly‐ε‐caprolactone (PCL) and 4% hydroxyapatite (HA), using two different 3D printing modalities. Constructs were analyzed to assess their printing characteristics, including morphological, mechanical, and biological properties. We also performed an in vitro accelerated degradation study to compare their degradation behaviors. Despite the same input material, the 3D constructs created from different 3D printing modalities showed distinct differences in morphology, surface roughness and internal void fraction, which resulted in different mechanical properties and cell responses. In addition, the constructs exhibited different degradation rates depending on the 3D printing modalities. Given that each 3D printing modality has inherent characteristics that impact printing outcomes and ultimately implant performance, understanding the characteristics is crucial in selecting the 3D printing modality to create reliable biomedical implants. This study aims to ascertain the material characteristics that are intrinsic to the prepreg layer within a laminated composite structure. The elastic modulus of the lamina, a primary determinant of composite structural behavior, is the focal point of this analysis. This parameter has been assessed by employing reverse-engineering techniques on a composite composed of sequentially stacked prepregs. The investigation entailed simulating the behavior of the composite under static loads and conducting modal analyses to reflect both static and dynamic conditions. The findings indicate that the elastic modulus values derived from combined tensile and modal analysis simulations exhibit superior accuracy compared to those obtained through tensile simulation alone. Specifically, the maximum prediction error for E1 (the tensile-direction elastic modulus of one lamina sheet) decreased from 1.17% to 0.28%, and that of E2 (the transverse-direction elastic modulus of one lamina sheet) decreased from 12.01% to 7.30%. Further simulations incorporating fabrication error variances underscored the critical nature of precise E2 analysis. The proposed methodology evidenced a more accurate assessment of E2, underscoring its potential to enhance the reverse-engineering process in composite material design. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
