1. Temperature Dependence of the Optical Transition Characteristics of MAPbClBr Single Crystals

Abstract

Methylammonium-lead-halide compounds have emerged as promising bandgap engineering materials due to their ability to fine-tune the energy gap through halogen element mixing. We present a comprehensive investigation of the temperature-dependent photoluminescence (PL) transition characteristics exhibited by single crystals of chlorine and bromine-based methylammonium lead halides. MAPbCl3 and MAPbBr3 crystals exhibit a distinct sharp free exciton transition with an abrupt transition behavior associated with the structural phase transition as the temperature varies. However, when the two halogen elements are mixed within the crystals, no structural phase transition is observed. This study explores the temperature-dependent variations in integrated PL intensity, full-width-half-maximum, and peak transition energy of the crystals. The obtained results discuss the intricate interplay between temperature, crystal structure, and composition, providing valuable insights into the optical properties and potential applications of organic-inorganic hybrid methyl-ammonium lead halide single crystals as tunable energy gap semiconductor materials., Comment: new research paper 4 figures with 4 supplementary figures

13. Nanophotonic sensor implants with 3D hybrid periodic-amorphous photonic crystals for wide-angle monitoring of long-term in-vivo intraocular pressure

Abstract

Glaucoma, one of the leading cause of irreversible blindness, is largely caused by an elevated intraocular pressure (IOP). However, current IOP monitoring techniques inherit major disadvantages such as imprecision, no real or long time monitoring, and difficult readout. Here, we report on a highly miniaturized (200 um thick) optomechanical nanophotonic sensor implant for long-term, continuous and on-demand IOP monitoring. This IOP sensor is made of a flexible 3D hybrid photonic crystals (HPC) that functions as a pressure-sensitive optical resonator (0.1 nm/mm Hg) and delivers IOP readings when interrogated with near-infrared light with an average accuracy of 0.56 mm Hg over the range of 0-40 mm Hg. A new fabrication process is developed using colloidal self-assembly leading to a single step formation of hybrid periodic and amorphous layers exploiting the inverse process of a drying "coffee-stain" effect. The HPC results in a wide-angle strong resonance of ±40° ensuring an easy and accurate remote and long readout distance. 8 sensors were mounted inside the anterior chamber in New Zealand white rabbits and provided continuous, accurate measurements of IOP with handheld detector for up to 6 months with no signs of inflammation.

Abstract

The bending phenomenon has been known to be occurred by the difference of velocity at the die exit. The difference of velocity at the die exit section can be obtained by the different velocity of billets through the multi-hole container. The difference of velocity at the die exit can be controlled by the two variables, the one of them is the different velocity of extrusion punch through the multi-hole container, the other is the difference of hole diameter of muliti-hole container. In this paper the difference of hole diameter is applied. So it can bend during extruding products because of the different amount of two billets when billets would be bonded in the porthole dies cavity. And the bending curvature can be controlled by the size of holes. The experiments with aluminum material for the curved tube product had been done for circular or rectangular curved tube section. The results of the experiments show that the curved tube product can be formed by the extru-bending process without the defects such as distortion of section and thickness change of wall of tube and folding and wrinkling. The curvature of product can be controlled by shape of cross section and the difference of billet diameters. And it is known that the bonding and extruding and bending process can be done simultaneously in the die cavity by the experiments that rectangular hollow curved tubes could be extruded by porthole dies with four different size billets made of aluminum material. And it shows that bending phenomenon can happen during extruding with for different billets from the analysis by DEFORM-3D.

Abstract

Hydrophobic surgical forceps of end-effectors for laparoscopic operations or minimally invasive surgery were developed through powder injection molding (PIM) and surface treatment. Processing conditions for mixing, debinding, and sintering were investigated to produce defect-free components. An optimum solid loading was determined by torque rheometry experiments. The optimized processing conditions for debinding and sintering were designed through the measurement of weight loss and shrinkage behavior by thermogravimetric analysis and dilatometry experiments. After producing the surgical forceps based on the optimized processing conditions via PIM, surface treatment was carried out to generate the hydrophobic structure on the surface. Abstract

Gastric cancer is a leading cause of cancer deaths, but analysis of its molecular and clinical characteristics has been complicated by histological and aetiological heterogeneity. Here we describe a comprehensive molecular evaluation of 295 primary gastric adenocarcinomas as part of The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) project. We propose a molecular classification dividing gastric cancer into four subtypes: tumours positive for Epstein-Barr virus, which display recurrent PIK3CA mutations, extreme DNA hypermethylation, and amplification of JAK2, CD274 (also known as PD-L1) and PDCD1LG2 (also known as PD-L2); microsatellite unstable tumours, which show elevated mutation rates, including mutations of genes encoding targetable oncogenic signalling proteins; genomically stable tumours, which are enriched for the diffuse histological variant and mutations of RHOA or fusions involving RHO-family GTPase-activating proteins; and tumours with chromosomal instability, which show marked aneuploidy and focal amplification of receptor tyrosine kinases. Identification of these subtypes provides a roadmap for patient stratification and trials of targeted therapies.

44. Photoelectrochemical cell study on closely arranged vertical nanorod bundles of CdSe and Zn doped CdSe films

Abstract

Closely arranged CdSe and Zn doped CdSe vertical nanorod bundles were grown directly on FTO coated glass by using electrodeposition method. Structural analysis by XRD showed the hexagonal phase without any precipitates related to Zn. FE-SEM image showed end capped vertically aligned nanorods arranged closely. From the UV-vis transmittance spectra, band gap energy was found to vary between 1.94 and 1.98 eV due to the incorporation of Zn. Solar cell parameters were obtained by assembling photoelectrochemical cells using CdSe and CdSe:Zn photoanodes, Pt cathode and polysulfide (1M Na2S + 1M S + 1M NaOH) electrolyte. The efficiency was found to increase from 0.16 to 0.22 upon Zn doping. Electrochemical impedance spectra (EIS) indicate that the charge-transfer resistance on the FTO/CdSe/polysulfide interface was greater than on FTO/CdSe:Zn/polysulfide. Cyclic voltammetry results also indicate that the FTO/CdSe:Zn/polysulfide showed higher activity towards polysulfide redox reaction than that of FTO/CdSe/polysulfide.
