Relativistic redshift correction should be accurately considered in frequency comparisons between frequency standards. In this study, we evaluated the relativistic redshift at Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS) using three different methods, depending on whether the approach was traditional or modern or whether the geopotential model was global or local. The results of the three methods agreed well with one another, and the height of an Yb optical lattice clock (KRISS-Yb1) was determined to be 75.15 m with an uncertainty of 0.04 m with respect to the conventionally adopted equipotential surface W0(CGPM), the value of which is defined to be 62 636 856.0 m2/s2. Accordingly, the relativistic redshift of KRISS-Yb1 was evaluated to be 8.193(4)x10-15. As optical clocks are improved to reach the frequency uncertainty below the 10$^{-17}$ level, the frequency shift due to the blackbody radiation (BBR) has been one of the major systematic effects hindering further improvement. To evaluate the BBR shift of an Yb optical lattice clock at KRISS, we installed an in-vacuum BBR shield and made radiation thermometry using a black-coated-sphere thermal probe. After we quantitatively measured the conduction loss of the thermal probe and the effects of all the external radiation sources, we determined the temperature at the atom trap site with an uncertainty of 13 mK, which corresponds to an uncertainty of 0.22 mHz in the clock frequency (a fractional frequency of $4.2\times10^{-19}$). The total uncertainty of the BBR shift including the atomic response is $9.5\times10^{-19}$.

We report a measurement of the absolute frequency of the 1S0-3P0 transition in the 171Yb optical lattice clock at KRISS (KRISS-Yb1) for 14 months, which was referenced to the SI second by primary and secondary standards worldwide via TAI (International Atomic Time). The determined absolute frequency is 518 295 836 590 863.75(14) Hz with the relative frequency uncertainty of 2.6x10^-16, which agrees well with other reports. An experimental method is developed for the robust frequency stabilization using a high-finesse cavity when the laser exhibits large intermittent frequency jumps. This is accomplished by applying an additional slow feedback signal from Doppler-free fluorescence spectroscopy in an atomic beam with increased frequency locking range. As a result, a stable and narrow-linewidth 556 nm laser maintains the frequency lock status for more than a week, and contributes to more accurate evaluation of the Yb optical lattice clock. In addition, the reference optical cavity is supported at vibration-insensitive points without any vibration isolation table, making the laser setup more simple and compact., Comment: 7 pages, 6 figures

The vibration sensitivities of optical cavities depending on the support-area were investigated both numerically and experimentally. We performed the numerical simulation with two models; one with total constraint over the support area, and the other with only vertical constraint. A support-area-size insensitive optimal support condition could be found by the numerical simulation. The support-area was determined in the experiment by a Viton rubber pad. The vertical, transverse, and longitudinal vibration sensitivities were measured experimentally. We measured the absolute frequency of the $^1S_0$ - $^3P_0$ transition of $^{171}$Yb atoms confined in a one-dimensional optical lattice relative to the SI second. The determined frequency was 518 295 836 590 863.38(57) Hz. The uncertainty was reduced by a factor of 14 compared with our previously reported value in 2013 due to the significant improvements in decreasing the systematic uncertainties. This result is expected to contribute to the determination of a new recommended value for the secondary representations of the second.

In this paper we report on the implementation and stability analysis of a drift-compensated frequency synthesizer from a cryogenic sapphire oscillator (CSO) designed for a Cs/Rb atomic fountain clock. The synthesizer has two microwave outputs of 7 GHz and 9 GHz for Rb and Cs atom interrogation, respectively. The short-term stability of these microwave signals, measured using an optical frequency comb locked to an ultra-stable laser, is better than $5\times10^{-15}$ at an averaging time of 1 s. We demonstrate that the short-term stability of the synthesizer is lower than the quantum projection noise limit of the Cs fountain clock, KRISS-F1(Cs) by measuring the short-term stability of the fountain with varying trapped atom number. The stability of the fountain at 1-s averaging time reaches $2.5\times10^{-14}$ at the highest atom number in the experiment when the synthesizer is used as an interrogation oscillator of the fountain. In order to compensate the frequency drift of the CSO, the output frequency of a waveform generator in the synthesis chain is ramped linearly. By doing this, the stability of the synthesizer at an average time of one hour reaches a level of $10^{-16}$ which is measured with the fountain clock., Comment: 8 pages, 6 figures

An approach for game bot detection in MMORPGs is proposed based on the analysis of game playing behavior. Since MMORPGs are large scale games, users can play in various ways. This variety in playing behavior makes it hard to detect game bots based on play behaviors. In order to cope with this problem, the proposed approach observes game playing behaviors of users and groups them by their behavioral similarities. Then, it develops a local bot detection model for each player group. Since the locally optimized models can more accurately detect game bots within each player group, the combination of those models brings about overall improvement. For a practical purpose of reducing the workloads of the game servers in service, the game data is collected at a low resolution in time. Behavioral features are selected and developed to accurately detect game bots with the low resolution data, considering common aspects of MMORPG playing. Through the experiment with the real data from a game currently in service, it is shown that the proposed local model approach yields more accurate results.

We analyze both the s- and p-wave collision induced frequency shifts and propose a over-$\pi$ pulse scheme to cancel the shifts in optical lattice clocks interrogated by a Rabi pulse. The collisional frequency shifts are analytically solved as a function of the pulse area and the inhomogeneity of the Rabi frequencies. Experimentally measured collisional frequency shifts in an Yb optical lattice clock are in good agreement with the analytical calculations. Based on our analysis, the over-$\pi$ pulse combined with a small inhomogeneity below 0.1 allows a fractional uncertainty on a level of $10^{-18}$ in both Sr and Yb optical lattice clocks by canceling the collisional frequency shift., Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures

We measured the absolute frequency of the optical clock transition 1S0 (F = 1/2) - 3P0 (F = 1/2) of 171Yb atoms confined in a one-dimensional optical lattice and it was determined to be 518 295 836 590 863.5(8.1) Hz. The frequency was measured against Terrestrial Time (TT; the SI second on the geoid) by using an optical frequency comb of which the frequency was phase-locked to an H-maser as a flywheel oscillator traceable to TT. The magic wavelength was also measured as 394 798.48(79) GHz. Radiative decay from the excited $^1P_1$ state to metastable $^3P_2$ and $^3P_0$ states is expected to limit attainable trapped atomic population in a magneto-optic trap of ytterbium (Yb) atoms. In experiments we have carried out with optical repumping of $^3P_{0,2}$ states to $^3P_1$, we observe enhancement of trapped atoms yield in the excited $^1P_1$ state. The individual decay rate to each metastable state is measured and the results show an excellent agreement with the theoretical values., Comment: 5 pages, 5 figures

We report the observation of laser induced birefringence (LIB) in a wavelength-mismatched cascade system (J=0 \leftrightarrow J=1 \leftrightarrow J=0 transitions) of inhomogeneously broadened ytterbium atoms with strong pump and probe fields. We investigate the transmission spectrum of two circular polarization (\sigma_p^+ and \sigma_p^-) components of strong probe field at fixed frequency, depending on the detuning of circularly polarized (\sigma_c^-) coupling field from two-photon resonance. We find that \sigma_p^+ (\sigma_p^-) polarized component exhibits a narrow electromagnetically induced absorption (transparency) spectrum. Numerical solutions of density matrix equations show qualitative agreement with experimental results. A Doppler-free dispersive LIB signal is obtained by detecting the Stokes parameter of the probe field, enabling us to stabilize the frequency of coupling laser without frequency modulation., Comment: 5 Pages, 3 figures, PDF file. We report the first efficient trapping of rare-earth Yb atoms with a high-power violet laser diode (LD). An injection-locked violet LD with a 25 mW frequency-stabilized output was used for the magneto-optical trapping (MOT) of fermionic as well as bosonic Yb isotopes. A typical number of $4\times 10^6$ atoms for $^{174}$Yb with a trap density of $\sim 1\times10^8/$cm$^3$ was obtained. A 10 mW violet external-cavity LD (ECLD) was used for the one-dimensional (1D) slowing of an effusive Yb atomic beam without a Zeeman slower resulting in a 35-fold increase in the number of trapped atoms. The overall characteristics of our compact violet MOT, e.g., the loss time of 1 s, the loading time of 400 ms, and the cloud temperature of 0.7 mK, are comparable to those in previously reported violet Yb MOTs, yet with a greatly reduced cost and complexity of the experiment., Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures, 1 table, Phys.
