Abstract: This document is comprised of a collection of updated preliminary parameters for the key parts of the muon collider. The updated preliminary parameters follow on from the October 2023 Tentative Parameters Report. Particular attention has been given to regions of the facility that are believed to hold greater technical uncertainty in their design and that have a strong impact on the cost and power consumption of the facility. The data is collected from a collaborative spreadsheet and transferred to overleaf.

2. Model Independent Tests of the Hadronic Vacuum Polarization Contribution to the Muon $g$$-$$2$

Abstract: The hadronic vacuum polarization (HVP) contributions to the muon $g$$-$$2$ are the crucial quantity to resolve whether new physics is present or not in the comparison between the Standard Model (SM) prediction and experimental measurements at Fermilab. They are commonly and historically determined via dispersion relations using a vast catalogue of experimentally measured, low-energy $e^+e^-\to \,\rm{hadrons}$ cross section data as input. These dispersive estimates result in a SM prediction that exhibits a muon $g$$-$$2$ discrepancy of more than $5\sigma$ when compared to experiment. However, recent lattice QCD evaluations of the HVP and a new hadronic cross section measurement from the CMD-3 experiment favor a no-new-physics scenario and, therefore, exhibit a common tension with the previous $e^+e^-\to \,\rm{hadrons}$ data. This study explores the current and future implications of these two scenarios on other observables that are also sensitive to the HVP contributions in the hope that they may provide independent tests of the current tensions observed in the muon $g$$-$$2$., Comment: 8 pages, 2 figures

3. Collider and astrophysical signatures of light scalars with enhanced $\tau$ couplings

Abstract: Beyond Standard Model scenarios addressing the flavor puzzle and the hierarchy problem generally predict dominant new physics couplings with fermions of the third generation. In this Letter, we explore the collider and astrophysical signatures of new light scalar and pseudoscalar particles dominantly coupled to the $\tau$-lepton. The best experimental prospects are expected at Belle II through the $e^+e^-\to\tau^+\tau^-\gamma\gamma$, $\tau^+\tau^-\gamma$, $3\gamma$, mono-$\gamma$ processes, and the $\tau$ anomalous magnetic moment. The correlated effects in these searches can unambiguously point toward the underlying new physics dynamics. Moreover, we study astrophysics bounds - especially from core-collapse supernovae and neutron star mergers - finding them particularly effective and complementary to collider bounds. We carry out this program in the well-motivated context of axion-like particles as well as generic CP-even and CP-odd particles, highlighting possible ways to discriminate among them., Comment: 9 pages, 6 figures

Abstract: The International Muon Collider Collaboration (IMCC) [1] was established in 2020 following the recommendations of the European Strategy for Particle Physics (ESPP) and the implementation of the European Strategy for Particle Physics-Accelerator R&D Roadmap by the Laboratory Directors Group [2], hereinafter referred to as the the European LDG roadmap. The Muon Collider Study (MuC) covers the accelerator complex, detectors and physics for a future muon collider. In 2023, European Commission support was obtained for a design study of a muon collider (MuCol) [3]. This project started on 1st March 2023, with work-packages aligned with the overall muon collider studies. In preparation of and during the 2021-22 U.S. Snowmass process, the muon collider project parameters, technical studies and physics performance studies were performed and presented in great detail. Recently, the P5 panel [4] in the U.S. recommended a muon collider R&D, proposed to join the IMCC and envisages that the U.S. should prepare to host a muon collider, calling this their "muon shot". 5. Temporal Complexity of a Hopfield-Type Neural Model in Random and Scale-Free Graphs

Abstract: The Hopfield network model and its generalizations were introduced as a model of associative, or content-addressable, memory. They were widely investigated both as an unsupervised learning method in artificial intelligence and as a model of biological neural dynamics in computational neuroscience. The complexity features of biological neural networks have attracted the scientific community's interest for the last two decades. More recently, concepts and tools borrowed from complex network theory were applied to artificial neural networks and learning, thus focusing on the topological aspects. However, the temporal structure is also a crucial property displayed by biological neural networks and investigated in the framework of systems displaying complex intermittency. The Intermittency-Driven Complexity (IDC) approach indeed focuses on the metastability of self-organized states, whose signature is a power-decay in the inter-event time distribution or a scaling behaviour in the related event-driven diffusion processes. The investigation of IDC in neural dynamics and its relationship with network topology is still in its early stages. In this work, we present the preliminary results of an IDC analysis carried out on a bio-inspired Hopfield-type neural network comparing two different connectivities, i.e., scale-free vs. random network topology. We found that random networks can trigger complexity features similar to that of scale-free networks, even if with some differences and for different parameter values, in particular for different noise levels

6. CP-Violating Axions: A Theory Review

Abstract: We review the physics case for CP-violating axions. In the first part, we focus on the Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) axion and argue that new sources of CP violation beyond QCD misalign the axion solution to the strong CP problem and can manifest themselves via a tiny scalar axion-nucleon component. We hence highlight recent advancements in calculating this scalar axion-nucleon coupling, a parameter that could be probed via axion-mediated force experiments. In the second part, we focus on axion-like particle (ALP) interactions entailing the most general sources of CP violation. After classifying the full set of CP-violating Jarlskog invariants, we report on recent calculations of ALP contributions to permanent electric dipole moments. We finally speculate on possible ultraviolet completions of the CP-violating ALP., Comment: 29 pages, 5 figures

Abstract: We elaborate on the application of on-shell and unitarity-based methods for evaluating renormalization group coefficients, and generalize this framework to account for the mixing of operators with different dimensions and leading mass effects. We derive a master formula for anomalous dimensions stemming from the general structure of operator mixings, up to two-loop order, and show how the Higgs low-energy theorem can be exploited to include leading mass effects. A few applications on the renormalization properties of popular effective field theories showcase the strength of the proposed approach, which drastically reduces the complexity of standard loop calculations. Our results provide a powerful tool to interpret experimental measurements of low-energy observables, such as flavor violating processes or electric and magnetic dipole moments, as induced by new physics emerging above the electroweak scale., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures

8. Resilience, Mental Flourishing, Character Strengths and Job Satisfaction of Adults with Dyslexia Compared to a Control Group

Abstract: Dyslexia is traditionally regarded as a disability which has an impact on the learning process of reading, spelling and writing. This study attempts to explore the character strengths, flourishing, resilience, and perceptions of professional success and satisfaction of 477 Greek adults. The sample consisted of 30 adults with an official diagnosis of dyslexia, 103 adults who scored above the threshold limit in the Dyslexia Checklist, and 344 adults who did not report any leaning difficulty. The following instruments were employed in the study: the Brief Resilience Scale, the Flourishing Scale, and subscales of the Values in Action Inventory of Strengths 120 (creativity, perseverance, social intelligence and teamwork). The results show that the dyslexic group scored higher in creativity and teamwork in comparison to the control group. No statistical differences were observed in professional success and satisfaction between the groups. Level of education seems to correlate with creativity. The prediction models showed a negative correlation of social intelligence with suspected dyslexia and a very low prediction of flourishing and resilience on the basis of dyslexia status. Positive traits of dyslexia are worth further study. Identifying strengths among people with dyslexia might be helpful for implementing new educational interventions and strategies.

9. The Chiral Lagrangian of CP-Violating Axion-Like Particles

Abstract: We discuss the construction of the most general CP-violating chiral Lagrangian for an axion-like particle (ALP). Starting with an effective Lagrangian containing light quarks and gluons, we provide its matching onto a chiral effective Lagrangian at $\mathcal{O}(p^2)$ described in terms of mesons and baryons, identifying the correspondence between the Jarlskog invariants of the two theories. Abstract: This study aims to determine the number of pediatric patients hospitalized at one rural hospital in Pekalongan Regency, Central Java, during 2023. This research design uses a descriptive cohort study with a cross-sectional approach. The research data was obtained from the hospital's Electronic Medical Records or E-RM. This study's results show that 2,731 children were being treated at Kajen Regional Hospital during 2023, with length of stay varying from 1 to 20 days. The most common reasons for hospitalization were fever, nausea, vomiting, cough and cold, febrile seizures, diarrhea, and shortness of breath. During 2023, there were 57 cases of death, and the three highest causes of death were fever: 23(40%) cases, seizures: 13(23%) cases, and shortness of breath and cough: 13(23%) cases. The results of this research can be used to determine priorities for preventive health programs to reduce hospitalization and child mortality rates. The plausible actions to respond to this situation are improving the vaccination program uptake, sanitation, and nutrition education by involving local leaders and community organizations to reduce the detrimental effect of fever, seizure, and respiratory disease on children.

Abstract: Abstract The mechanisms that underlie the regulation of enzymatic reactions by biomolecular condensates and how they scale with compartment size remain poorly understood. Here we use intrinsically disordered domains as building blocks to generate programmable enzymatic condensates of NADH-oxidase (NOX) with different sizes spanning from nanometers to microns. These disordered domains, derived from three distinct RNA-binding proteins, each possessing different net charge, result in the formation of condensates characterized by a comparable high local concentration of the enzyme yet within distinct environments. We show that only condensates with the highest recruitment of substrate and cofactor exhibit an increase in enzymatic activity. Notably, we observe an enhancement in enzymatic rate across a wide range of condensate sizes, from nanometers to microns, indicating that emergent properties of condensates can arise within assemblies as small as nanometers. Furthermore, we show a larger rate enhancement in smaller condensates. Our findings demonstrate the ability of condensates to modulate enzymatic reactions by creating distinct effective solvent environments compared to the surrounding solution, with implications for the design of protein-based heterogeneous biocatalysts.

Abstract: Abstract Background RASopathies are genetic syndromes affecting development and having variable cancer predisposition. These disorders are clinically related and are caused by germline mutations affecting key players and regulators of the RAS-MAPK signaling pathway generally leading to an upregulated ERK activity. Gain-of-function (GOF) mutations in PTPN11, encoding SHP2, a cytosolic protein tyrosine phosphatase positively controlling RAS function, underlie approximately 50% of Noonan syndromes (NS), the most common RASopathy. A different class of these activating mutations occurs as somatic events in childhood leukemias. Method Here, we evaluated the application of a FRET-based zebrafish ERK reporter, Teen, and used quantitative FRET protocols to monitor non-physiological RASopathy-associated changes in ERK activation. In a multi-level experimental workflow, we tested the suitability of the Teen reporter to detect pan-embryo ERK activity correlates of morphometric alterations driven by the NS-causing Shp2D61G allele. Results Spectral unmixing- and acceptor photobleaching (AB)-FRET analyses captured pathological ERK activity preceding the manifestation of quantifiable body axes defects, a morphological pillar used to test the strength of SHP2 GoF mutations. Last, the work shows that by multi-modal FRET analysis, we can quantitatively trace back the modulation of ERK phosphorylation obtained by low-dose MEK inhibitor treatment to early development, before the onset of morphological defects. Conclusion This work proves the usefulness of FRET imaging protocols on both live and fixed Teen ERK reporter fish to readily monitor and quantify pharmacologically- and genetically-induced ERK activity modulations in early embryos, representing a useful tool in pre-clinical applications targeting RAS-MAPK signaling.

Abstract: The discovery of lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases (LPMOs), a family of copper-dependent enzymes that play a major role in polysaccharide degradation, has revealed the importance of oxidoreductases in the biological utilization of biomass. In fungi, a range of redox proteins have been implicated as working in harness with LPMOs to bring about polysaccharide oxidation. In bacteria, less is known about the interplay between redox proteins and LPMOs, or how the interaction between the two contributes to polysaccharide degradation. We therefore set out to characterize two previously unstudied proteins from the shipworm symbiont Teredinibacter turnerae that were initially identified by the presence of carbohydrate binding domains appended to uncharacterized domains with probable redox functions. Here, X-ray crystal structures of several domains from these proteins are presented together with initial efforts to characterize their functions. The analysis suggests that the target proteins are unlikely to function as LPMO electron donors, raising new questions as to the potential redox functions that these large extracellular multi-haem-containing c-type cytochromes may perform in these bacteria.

20. Air non-thermal plasma, a green approach for the treatment of contaminated water: the case of sulfamethoxazole

Abstract: Non-thermal plasma (NTP) is gaining increasing attention as a promising approach for advanced water treatment to degrade persistent organic pollutants. Aqueous solutions of sulfamethoxazole (4-amino-N-(5-methylisoxazol-3-yl)-benzensulfonamide, SMZ), an antibiotic largely employed for humans and animals and a widespread persistent pollutant of waters and wastewaters, were subjected to air NTP treatment in a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) reactor. The effects of SMZ initial concentration and of the solution pH on SMZ decomposition kinetics and transformation products were investigated. Efficient degradation was achieved, resulting in the complete removal of SMZ (10 μM initial concentration) in less than 25 min treatments, in the exhaustive mineralization (a result never reported before in plasma treatments and seldom reached also with other advanced oxidation processes) of all organic carbon in 6 h and in an energy efficiency of 6.4 g/kWh at 50% conversion. By means of HPLC-UV/Vis and LC-ESI-MSn analyses, a number of organic transformation products was identified along the path to SMZ mineralization, all present always in very small amounts and in turn decomposed at short treatment times. The effect of the solution pH on the genesis and decay of transformation products was also investigated. Based on comparisons with literature data and on previous findings obtained with the DBD reactor used in this work, it is concluded that the major reactive species involved in the degradation of SMZ are the hydroxyl radical and ozone. Finally, toxicological analyses of water initially containing 0.5 mM SMZ and subjected to 4 h NTP treatment showed that the by-products are not toxic to Raphidocelis subcapitata and Daphnia magna, while residual toxicity was detected by Aliivibrio fischeri.

21. Anomalous diffusion originated by two Markovian hopping-trap mechanisms

Abstract: We show through intensive simulations that the paradigmatic features of anomalous diffusion are indeed the features of a (continuous-time) random walk driven by two different Markovian hopping-trap mechanisms. If $p \in (0,1/2)$ and $1-p$ are the probabilities of occurrence of each Markovian mechanism, then the anomalousness parameter $\beta \in (0,1)$ results to be $\beta \simeq 1 - 1/\{1 + \log[(1-p)/p]\}$. Ensemble and single-particle observables of this model have been studied and they match the main characteristics of anomalous diffusion as they are typically measured in living systems. 22. Higgs physics confronts the $M_W$ anomaly

Abstract: The recent high-precision measurement of the $W$ mass by the CDF collaboration is in sharp tension with the Standard Model prediction as obtained by the electroweak fit. If confirmed, this finding can only be explained in terms of new physics effects. In this work, we point out a generic connection between the $M_W$ anomaly and Higgs physics observables such as $h\to\gamma\gamma, Z\gamma$ and the ratio $h\to ZZ/WW$. Moreover, we systematically classify new physics scenarios which can address the $M_W$ anomaly via a tree-level contribution to the $\hat T$ parameter. Abstract: In the path towards a muon collider with center of mass energy of 10 TeV or more, a stage at 3 TeV emerges as an appealing option. Reviewing the physics potential of such muon collider is the main purpose of this document. In order to outline the progression of the physics performances across the stages, a few sensitivity projections for higher energy are also presented. There are many opportunities for probing new physics at a 3 TeV muon collider. Some of them are in common with the extensively documented physics case of the CLIC 3 TeV energy stage, and include measuring the Higgs trilinear coupling and testing the possible composite nature of the Higgs boson and of the top quark at the 20 TeV scale. Other opportunities are unique of a 3 TeV muon collider, and stem from the fact that muons are collided rather than electrons. Abstract: Abstract We discuss the construction of the most general CP-violating chiral Lagrangian for an axion-like particle (ALP). Starting with an effective Lagrangian containing light quarks and gluons, we provide its matching onto a chiral effective Lagrangian at O $$ \mathcal{O} $$ (p 2) described in terms of mesons and baryons, identifying the correspondence between the Jarlskog invariants of the two theories. After deriving the ALP interactions with mesons and baryons, we analyse a few relevant phenomenological implications such as the permanent electric dipole moments of nucleons and the CP-violating ALP and kaon decays. This work provides the necessary tools for further phenomenological analyses connecting low-energy observables with the couplings of the underlying ultraviolet complete theory.

Abstract: Introduction: Basosquamous carcinoma is an uncommon subtype of basal cell carcinoma (BCC), characterized by aggressive local growth and metastatic potential, that mainly develops on the nose, perinasal area, and ears, representing 1.2–2.7% of all head-neck keratinocyte carcinomas. Although systemic therapy with hedgehog inhibitors (HHIs) represents the first-line medical treatment in advanced BCC, to date, no standard therapy for advanced basosquamous carcinoma has been established. Herein, we reported a case series of patients affected by locally advanced basosquamous carcinomas, who were treated with HHIs. Case Presentation: Data of 5 patients receiving HHIs for locally advanced basosquamous carcinomas were retrieved (2 women and 3 males, age range: 63–89 years, average age of 77 years). Skin lesions were located on the head-neck area; in particular, 4 tumors involved orbital and periorbital area and 1 tumor developed in the retro-auricular region. A clinical response was obtained in 3 out of 5 patients (2 partial responses and 1 complete response), while disease progression was observed in the remaining 2 patients. Hence, therapy was interrupted, switching to surgery or immunotherapy. Conclusion: Increasing evidence suggests considering HHIs for large skin tumors developing in functionally and cosmetically sensitive areas, in patients with multiple comorbidities, although their use for basosquamous carcinoma require more exploration, large cohort populations, and long follow-up assessment.

Abstract: Abstract We discuss the construction of the chiral Lagrangian for a light spin-1 boson, here denoted as X, featuring both vector and axial-vector couplings to light u, d, s quarks. Focusing on ∆S = 1 transitions, we show that there are model-independent tree-level contributions to K ± → π ± X, sourced by Standard Model charged currents, which receive an m K 2 / m X 2 $$ {m}_K^2/{m}_X^2 $$ enhancement from the emission of a longitudinally polarized X. This flavour observable sets the strongest to date model-independent bound on the diagonal axial-vector couplings of X to u, d, s quarks for m X < m K – m π , superseding the bounds arising from beam-dump and collider searches.

Abstract: The recent measurement of the muon $g$-2 at Fermilab confirms the previous Brookhaven result. The leading hadronic vacuum polarization (HVP) contribution to the muon $g$-2 represents a crucial ingredient to establish if the Standard Model prediction differs from the experimental value. A recent lattice QCD result by the BMW collaboration shows a tension with the low-energy $e^+e^- \to \text{hadrons}$ data which are currently used to determine the HVP contribution. We refer to this tension as the new muon $g$-2 puzzle. In this Letter we consider the possibility that new physics contributes to the $e^+e^- \to \text{hadrons}$ cross-section. Abstract: ObjectiveThe efficiency of ovarian tissue transplantation (OTT) was established in terms of ovarian function recovery (95% of cases), number of live births (over 200 worldwide to date) and induction of puberty. Unfortunately, the lack of international registries and the fact that many centers have not yet reported their outcomes, lead to poor knowledge of the exact fertility data. The aim of the study is to describe our experience with OTT to restore ovarian function and fertility.MethodsThis study was designed as a single-center, observational, retrospective, cohort study that includes women who underwent OTT between December 2012 and June 2023 at our center. After approval by the oncologist/hematologist, a small fragment of ovarian tissue was thawed and analyzed to detect the presence of micrometastases before OTT. Thawed ovarian tissue was grafted laparoscopically at multiple sites, including the remaining ovary and pelvic side wall (orthotopic transplantation) and/or abdominal wall (heterotopic transplantation). After OTT, ovarian function was monitored by hormonal assay, ultrasound and color Doppler at approximately 4-week intervals.ResultsBetween December 2012 and June 2023, 30 women performed OTT. Prior to OTT, immunohistochemical and molecular analyses revealed no micrometastases in all thawed ovarian tissue samples. In our series of 30 women, 20 of women were on premature ovarian insufficiency (POI), and the remaining ten cases still had oligomenorrhea and difficulty getting pregnant. Among the women with POI before OTT and at least 6 months follow-up, recovery of endocrine function was observed in all but one woman who underwent orthotopic transplantation (13 of 14 cases), in one out of two women who underwent both orthotopic and heterotopic transplantation (1 of 2 cases) and in all women who underwent heterotopic transplantation (4 of 4 cases). Women who underwent OTT to enhance fertility had no alterations in menstrual cycle and hormonal levels. In total, ten pregnancies were obtained in 25 women, resulting in four live births, two ongoing pregnancies and four spontaneous abortions.ConclusionOur data can help patients and physicians in their discussions and decisions about the need and possibilities of preserving fertility.

Abstract: Background: Line-field confocal optical coherence tomography is a novel technology able to reproduce a “virtual biopsy” of the skin. The aim of this review is to explore the application of line-field confocal optical coherence tomography (LC-OCT) in various skin diseases, covering skin cancers, inflammatory and infectious skin diseases, genetic diseases, cosmetic procedures, and less common disorders. Methods: Study selection was conducted based on LC-OCT and using pertinent MeSh terms, following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines from inception to March 2024; to evaluate the quality and risk of bias of studies, Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies-2 (QUADAS-2) was used. Results: the search retrieved 154 papers according to the selection criteria; after removing publications by one or more of the exclusion criteria, a total of 96 studies were found to be suitable for the analysis. Conclusions: Increasing evidence supports the use of LC-OCT as an adjunctive diagnostic tool for the in vivo diagnosis of a variety of skin tumors. As this device can be considered a “bridge” between dermoscopy and histopathology, widening applications in numerous fields of clinical dermatology, including inflammatory skin disease treatment, presurgical mapping, cosmetic procedures, and monitoring of non-invasive therapies, have been explored.

Abstract: We point out that heavy new physics contributions in leptonic dipole moments and high-energy cross-sections of lepton pairs into Higgs bosons and photons are connected model-independently. In particular, we demonstrate that a muon collider, running at center-of-mass energies of several TeV, can provide a unique test of new physics in the muon g-2 through the study of high-energy processes such as mu+ mu- -> h gamma. This high-energy test would be of the utmost importance to shed light on the long-standing muon g-2 anomaly as it is not affected by the hadronic and experimental uncertainties entering the current low-energy determination of the muon g-2. Abstract: A confirmation of the long-standing muon $g$-2 discrepancy requires both experimental and theoretical progress. On the theory side, the hadronic corrections are under close scrutiny, as they induce the leading uncertainty of the Standard Model prediction. Recently, the MUonE experiment has been proposed at CERN to provide a new determination of the leading hadronic contribution to the muon $g$-2 via the measurement of the differential cross section of muon-electron scattering. The precision expected at this experiment raises the question whether possible new-physics (NP) could affect its measurements. We address this issue studying possible NP signals in muon-electron collisions due to heavy or light mediators, depending on whether their mass is higher or lower than ${\cal O} (1{\rm GeV})$. We analyze the former in a model-independent way via an effective field theory approach, whereas for the latter we focus on scenarios with light scalar and vector bosons. Using existing experimental bounds, we show that possible NP effects in muon-electron collisions are expected to lie below MUonE's sensitivity. Three hundred and seventy-two women and three hundred and seventy-seven men completed a questionnaire assessing body appreciation, body appreciation functionality, body compassion, body image coping strategies (appearance fixing, avoidance, positive rational acceptance), self-acceptance and overall psychological wellbeing. Path analysis showed that avoidance significantly mediated the relationship between body appreciation and overall psychological wellbeing among both women and men; its mediating role was confirmed for men’s but not for women’s self-acceptance. Positive rational acceptance was a significant mediator of the relationship between body compassion and both psychological wellbeing and self-acceptance among men but not among women. These findings show that higher body appreciation is associated with a lower tendency to avoid appearance-related cognitions or thoughts that are interpreted as threatening, with an indirect effect on women’s and men’s psychological wellbeing. Analogously, but only for men, body compassion is associated with mental activities and self-care behaviors that foster rational self-talk and the acceptance of one’s experiences, which, in turn, are linked to higher wellbeing. These findings can help to plan programs aimed at fostering individuals’ wellbeing by focusing on their positive body image considering gender differences.

Abstract: In this study, the efficacy of two of the best performing green solvents for the fractionation of lignocellulosic biomass, cholinium arginate (ChArg) as biobased ionic liquid (Bio-IL) and ChCl:lactic acid (ChCl:LA, 1:10) as natural deep eutectic solvent (NADES), was investigated and compared in the pretreatment of an agri-food industry waste, apple fibers (90°C for 1 h). For the sake of comparison, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate (BMIM OAc) as one of the best IL able to dissolve cellulose was also used. After the pretreatment, two fractions were obtained in each case. The results gathered through FTIR and TG analyses of the two materials and the subsequent DNS assay performed after enzymatic treatment led to identify ChArg as the best medium to delignify and remove waxes, present on the starting apple fibers, thus producing a material substantially enriched in cellulose (CRM). Conversely, ChCl:LA did not provide satisfactorily results using these mild conditions, while BMIM OAc showed intermediate performance probably on account of the reduced crystallinity of cellulose after the dissolution-regeneration process. To corroborate the obtained data, FTIR and TG analyses were also performed on the residues collected after the enzymatic hydrolysis. At the end of the pretreatment, ChArg was also quantitatively recovered without significant alterations.

47. Hunting for ALPs with Lepton Flavor Violation

Abstract: We examine the low-energy signatures of axion-like particles (ALPs) in lepton flavor violating (LFV) processes. By using a dimension-5 effective Lagrangian, we compute the most general ALP contributions to LFV decays of leptons and mesons. The provided expressions are valid for any choice of ALP mass and couplings. We explore the complementarity of different processes, identifying specific patterns to be experimentally tested. Constraints on LFV couplings are derived from existing data and prospects for forthcoming experiments are also discussed. The method makes use of computational particles having the shape of spherical shells or of rings, and can be used to study cases in which the plasma has spherical or axial symmetry, respectively. As a computational grid is absent, the technique is particularly suitable when the plasma occupies a rapidly changing space region.
