In this paper, we aim to determine the parameters of a photovoltaic installation that will ensure the electricity needs of a home equipped with smart equipment. We proposed to study the most efficient installation according to different types of panels and tilt angles. The main objective is to determine the optimal photovoltaic installation regardless of the seasonal variation, and as a secondary objective, the surplus energy should be charged to the network.

With the rapid growth of the lithium-ion battery (LIBs) market, recycling and re-using end-of-life LIBs to reclaim the critical Li, Co, Ni, and Mn has become an urgent task. Presently, high temperature, strong acid, and alkali conditions are required to extract blended critical metals (CM) from the typical battery cathode. Hence, there is a need for more effective recycling processes for recycling blended Li, Co, Ni, and their direct regeneration for re-use in LIBs. The goal of the offered paper is the development of recycling technology for degraded battery cathode-active materials based on the thermal decomposition of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) using calcination and air-jet stripping of active materials. The proposed air-jet erosion method of calcined cathode material stripping from Al foil allows for the flexible industry-applicable separation process, which is damage-free for both particles and substrate. The CaO calcination air-jet separation process and equipment can significantly improve the PVDF decomposition and the separation efficiency of the cathode materials. It is demonstrated that low-temperature CaO calcination at 350–450 °C associated with air-jet separation of active material is characterized by low environmental impact, high purity of the recycled material, and low cost as compared to pyro- and hydrometallurgical methods. This paper describes some aspects concerning the analysis of the electromagnetic and the thermal field in a microwave field using Comsol Multiphysics. A dielectric piece of oak wood heated/dried in a multimode-type applicator, at the frequency of 2450 MHz is used as model for numerical application.

The objective of this study is to analyze the heating/drying characteristics of oak planks in a microwave field. In order to be able to control the maximum temperature values during the experimentaldeterminations and to assess the time necessary for the heating/drying of oak planks, numerical modeling has been performed, using the commercial software Comsol Multiphysics. The experimental results were obtained at a frequency of 2.45 GHz in a multimode microwaveapplicator.

The paper presents a bond-graph method for solving and analyzing an electric circuit with four or more circuit loops. Using this method, the time for circuit analysis is much shorter then using a classicalmethod. Besides determining the intensities of electrical currents through the sides of the circuit, the bond-graphs provide the possibility to obtain the transmittance of the analyzed system applying a fast working method. The main advantage of bond-graphs is the interaction with various areas of physics. The analyzedelectrical circuit could be a part of a complex physical system that could be modeled and analyzed as a unitary system by using bond-graphs.

In this paper the asynchronous motorwith cage, used for electrical traction is studied andanalyzed. For this motor we realized the associatedbond-graph, we pointed out the equations thatdescribe this motor, and we analyzed the electricaland mechanical features of this motor, by using thesimulation program 20 SIM, in order to improve theperformances of this motor even from the early stageof design.

Fiber-optic based interferometers are used to detect small displacements, down to the subnanometer range. Coating the end of the optical fiber with a partially reflecting thin film greatly improves the resolution of interferometers by increasing the multiple reflections between the fiber end and the measured object. In this work, we present a quick and easy thin film deposition technique to coat the end of a single optical fiber by dip-coating a metal-organic precursor, which is then decomposed in a propane flame. The coated fiber was tested for morphology and usefulness for interferometric application. We found that this coating technique is much faster and easier than conventional thin coating techniques, and yields results that are comparable or better than can be achieved with sputtering or thermal evaporation. We report on an improved method to interpret single molecule dissociation measurements using atomic force microscopy. We describe an easy to use methodology to reject nonspecific binding events, as well as estimating the number of multiple binding events. The method takes nonlinearities in the force profiles into account that result from the deformation of the used polymeric linkers. This new method is applied to a relevant enzyme-inhibitor system, latent matrix metalloprotease 9 (ProMMP-9, a gelatinase), and its inhibitor, tissue inhibitor of metalloproteases 1 (TIMP 1), which are important players in cancer metastasis. Our method provides a measured kinetic off-rate of 0.010 ± 0.003 s(-1) for the dissociation of ProMMP9 and TIMP1, which is consistent with values measured by ensemble methods.
