The impact of the work environment on employees has been well researched, with little focus on the pathways of such relationships. This study aimed to examine whether workplace incivility and personality predict workplace stress and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). The role of John Henryism (JH), Probabilistic Orientation (PO), work self-efficacy, and resilience on workplace stress and OCB was also explored. The data were collected through a survey using self-report measures of perception of fair interpersonal treatment in the workplace, workplace incivility, work self-efficacy, JH, PO, workplace stress, and OCB from 206 (M=120, F=86) employees from the IT industry, aged 22 to 42 (M=30.47, SD=5.60). Multiple regression analyses revealed that workplace incivility (from supervisor and client) positively predicted workplace stress. At the same time, coworker incivility did not predict workplace stress. On the contrary, workplace incivility (supervisor, coworker, and clients) did not predict OCB significantly. JH and work self-efficacy positively predicted OCB, while PO negatively predicted OCB. This research provides new directions for future research that workplace stress is predicted by supervisor and client incivility, and OCB is not predicted by workplace incivility.

Constantly rising global temperature (@ 0.2 °C per decade) has been one of the most detrimental stresses in crop growth and development. Indian mustard as being susceptible to temperature stress mostly targeted for commercial cultivation as early sown or late sown crop with the expectation of higher seed yield. A set of 45 Indian mustard genotypes was studied for their response to heat stress by following randomized block design with 3 consecutive experiments. Cell membrane stability, acquired thermal tolerance and % reduction of relative water content was emerged as preferred traits to classify the genotypes for their response to high temperature stress. Based on physiological parameters, 13 genotypes were categorized as tolerant. Further on the basis of % yield reduction, 8 out of 13 tolerant genotypes identified earlier were found to be heat tolerant at seedling stage and 2 genotypes as tolerant at terminal stage. Cell membrane stability, acquired thermal tolerance and % reduction of relative water content exhibited significant correlations with yield and derived parameters. In comparison to 'mean productivity' vs. 'tolerance', 'stress tolerance efficiency' vs. 'stress susceptibility index' was observed to be more effective in this study. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Three new cell lines, designated NIVI-CH-440, NIVI-CH-442, and NIVI-CH-445, derived from the embryonated eggs of the bed-bug Cimex hemipterus (F.) have been established. The cell lines consist of epithelial-like (80%), fibroblastlike (19%), and giant cells (1%). The chromosomes were holokinetic and there was no distinct stemline chromosome number at either early or late passage. The cultures showed two Malate dehydrogenase bands, one dark, the other faint; but no lactate dehydrogenase band. The cultures did not support the multiplication of Japanese encephalitis, Chikungunya, or Dengue-2 viruses, nor did Coxiella burnetii multiply in them. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
