Donor-specific antibodies (DSAs) play a key role in chronic kidney allograft injury. Follicular T helper (Tfh) cells trigger the humoral alloimmune response and promote DSA generation, while T-follicular regulatory (Tfr) cells inhibit antibody production by suppressing Tfh and B cells. Interleukin (IL)-21 exerts a distinct effect on Tfh and Tfr. Here, we studied whether blocking IL-21R with anti-IL-21R monoclonal antibody (αIL-21R) changes the Tfh/Tfr balance and inhibits DSA generation. First, we investigated the impact of αIL-21R on CD4+ T cell proliferation and apoptosis. The results showed that αIL-21R did not have cytotoxic effects on CD4+ T cells. Next, we examined Tfh and regulatory T cells (Tregs) in an in vitro conditioned culture model. Naïve CD4+ T cells were isolated from 3-month-old C57BL/6 mice and cultured in Tfh differentiation inducing conditions in presence of αIL-21R or isotype IgG and differentiation was evaluated by CXCR5 expression, a key Tfh marker. αIL-21R significantly inhibited Tfh differentiation. In contrast, under Treg differentiation conditions, FOXP3 expression was inhibited by IL-21. Notably, αIL-21R rescued IL-21-inhibited Treg differentiation. For in vivo investigation, a fully mismatched skin transplantation model was utilized to trigger the humoral alloimmune response. Consistently, flow cytometry revealed a reduced Tfh/Tfr ratio in recipients treated with αIL-21R. Germinal center response was evaluated by flow cytometry and lectin histochemistry. We observed that αIL-21R significantly inhibited germinal center reaction. Most importantly, DSA levels after transplantation were significantly inhibited by αIL-21R at different time points. In summary, our results demonstrate that αIL-21R shifts the Tfh/Tfr balance toward DSA inhibition. Therefore, αIL-21R may be a useful therapeutic agent to prevent chronic antibody mediated rejection after organ transplantation.

Chronic active antibody-mediated rejection (CAAMR) is an intermediate process that occurs during the development of chronic antibody-mediated rejection (CAMR), which is a key problem associated with the long-term kidney grafts survival. This study investigated the role played by PC3-secreted microprotein (PSMP) in the progression of CAAMR and CAMR. We showed that CAAMR and CAMR patients’ allografts dysfunction with declined survival rate, which suggested that earlier diagnosis and treatment of CAAMR might be important to prevent irreversible chronic injury of CAMR progression. We found PSMP was an important factor in the development of chronic antibody-mediated rejection. The PSMP expression increased significantly in CAAMR biopsy samples but not in CAMR and control patients, which distinguished CAAMR patients from CAMR and non-rejection patients. Moreover, our results showed that infiltration of CD68+ macrophages in CAAMR increased, and the correlation between CD68+ macrophages and PSMP expression in CAAMR patients was significant. Additionally, our data also revealed that intimal arteritis (v-lesion) accompanied by increased macrophage infiltration might have contributed to more graft loss in CAAMR, and PSMP expression was significantly associated with the v-lesion score. These results indicated that PSMP played an important role in the recruitment of macrophages and promote intimal arteritis inducing allograft lost in CAAMR progression. In future study PSMP could be a potential histopathological diagnostic biomarker and treatment target for CAAMR in kidney transplantation.

Abstract Background Tumor recurrence, the chief reason for poor prognosis of glioma, is largely attributed to glioma stem cells (GSCs) and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). However, the mechanisms among them remain unknown. Here, we determined whether leucine-rich repeat-containing G protein-coupled receptor 5 (LGR5), known as a stem cell marker for colon cancer and gastric cancer, can serve as a novel GSC marker involved in EMT and a therapeutic target in glioma. Methods Stemness properties were examined in FACS-isolated LGR5+/LGR5− cells. Reported stem cell markers, EMT and the Wnt/β-catenin pathway were examined in stable LGR5 knockdown or overexpressed GSCs by Western Blot. The treatment experiment was performed in an intracranial orthotopic xenograft model by knockdown of LGR5 or by using the Wnt/β-catenin pathway inhibitor Wnt-C59. LGR5 expression was determined in 268 glioma specimens by immunohistochemistry. Results LGR5+ cells possessed stronger stemness properties compared to LGR5− cells. The expression of SOX2, Nanog, CD133, CD44, CD24 and EpCAM was modulated by LGR5. Both LGR5 knockdown and Wnt-C59 reduced tumor invasion and migration and blocked EMT by inhibiting the Wnt/β-catenin pathway in vitro and suppressed the intracranial orthotopic xenograft growth and prolonged the survival of xenograft mice in vivo. Moreover, LGR5 was positively correlated with Ki67, N-cadherin and WHO grade and negatively correlated with IDH1. Glioma patients with high expression of LGR5 showed significantly poorer prognosis. Conclusions LGR5 is a new functional GSC marker and prognostic indicator that can promote EMT by activating the Wnt/β-catenin pathway and would thus be a novel therapeutic target for glioma.

CUL4A encodes a core component of a cullin-based E3 ubiquitin ligase complex that regulates many critical processes such as cell cycle progression, DNA replication, DNA repair and chromatin remodeling by targeting a variety of proteins for ubiquitination and degradation. In the research described in this report we aimed to clarify whether CUL4A participates in multiple drug resistance (MDR) in breast cancer cells. We first transfected vectors carrying CUL4A and specific shCUL4A into breast cancer cells and corresponding Adr cells respectively. Using reverse transcription polymerase chain reactions and western blots, we found that overexpression of CUL4A in MCF7 and MDA-MB-468 cells up-regulated MDR1/P-gp expression on both the transcription and protein levels, which conferred multidrug resistance to P-gp substrate drugs, as determined by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assays. On the other hand, silencing CUL4A in MCF7/Adr and MDA-MB-468/Adr cells led to the opposite effect. Moreover, ERK1/2 in CUL4A-overexpressing cells was highly activated and after treatment with PD98059, an ERK1/2-specific inhibitor, CUL4A-induced expression of MDR1/P-gp was decreased significantly. Lastly, immunohistochemistry in breast cancer tissues showed that P-gp expression had a positive correlation with the expression of CUL4A and ERK1/2. Thus, these results implied that CUL4A and ERK1/2 participated in multi-drug resistance in breast cancer through regulation of MDR1/P-gp expression.

Accurate electrical load forecasting is of great significance to help power companies in better scheduling and efficient management. Since high levels of uncertainties exist in the load time series, it is a challenging task to make accurate short-term load forecast (STLF). In recent years, deep learning approaches provide better performance to predict electrical load in real world cases. The convolutional neural network (CNN) can extract the local trend and capture the same pattern, and the long short-term memory (LSTM) is proposed to learn the relationship in time steps. In this paper, a new deep neural network framework that integrates the hidden feature of the CNN model and the LSTM model is proposed to improve the forecasting accuracy. The proposed model was tested in a real-world case, and detailed experiments were conducted to validate its practicality and stability. The forecasting performance of the proposed model was compared with the LSTM model and the CNN model. The Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) and Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) were used as the evaluation indexes. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model can achieve better and stable performance in STLF.

Abstract Background To investigate the anatomic features of the root furcation of permanent mandibular first molars. Methods A total of 50 extracted mandibular first molars (25 two-rooted and 25 three-rooted) were collected and scanned using micro-computed tomography. The digital models of teeth and root canal systems were reconstructed three-dimensionally. The tooth models were displayed in parallel projection mode from buccal and distal views. Screenshots were captured and subsequently analyzed using Image-Pro Plus 6.0 software after calibration. The furcation angle, root trunk length, maximum depth and level of distal root concaves of mesial roots, and length of enamel projections were measured, and the furcation types (classified into type V, type U and type W) were detected. Statistical analysis was performed using the Shapiro-Wilk’s test, one-way analysis of variance, Student’s t-test and Chi-square test. Results The mean furcation angle between the distobuccal (DB) and distolingual (DL) roots (in distal view) was the greatest (59.2°), whereas the furcation angle between the mesial and DL roots (in buccal view) was the smallest (25.4°) among the four furcation angles (all p 0.05). The frequency of type V was the highest (54.0%), followed by type U (26.0%), and type W had the lowest occurrence rate (20.0%). Abstract Background Occupational stress can affect specialty nurses’ quality of work, especially for those working in care units. This study, therefore, investigated role stress and its related factors among specialty nurses working in tertiary general hospitals. Methods This cross-sectional descriptive study used convenience sampling to recruit 795 Chinese specialty nurses in 11 tertiary general hospitals (from February to March 2023). A questionnaire survey was conducted using the Basic Information Questionnaire and the Role Stress Scale. Multiple linear regression analyses were performed on the survey data to explore the factors affecting role stress. Results The total role stress score of specialty nurses in tertiary general hospitals was 52.05 ± 19.98. The highest mean item score was quantitative overload, followed by qualitative overload, role conflict, and role ambiguity, which had the lowest score. Abstract Increasing attention has been given to the utilization of swarm intelligent optimization algorithms to facilitate cooperative target search of unmanned aerial vehicle swarm (UAVs). However, there exist common issues associated with swarm intelligent optimization algorithms, which are low search efficiency and easy to trap in local optima. Simultaneously, the concentrated initial positioning of UAVs increase the probability of collisions between UAVs. To address these issues, this paper proposes a reinforced robotic bean optimization algorithm (RRBOA) aimed at enhancing the efficiency of UAVs for cooperative target search in unknown environments. Firstly, the algorithm employs a region segmentation exploration strategy to enhance the initialization of UAVs, ensuring a uniform distribution of UAVs to avoid collisions and the coverage capability of UAVs search. Subsequently, a neutral evolution strategy is incorporated based on the spatial distribution pattern of population, which aims to enhance cooperative search by enabling UAVs to freely explore the search space, thus improving the global exploration capability of UAVs. Finally, an adaptive Levy flight strategy is introduced to expand the search range of UAVs, enhancing the diversity of UAVs search and then preventing the UAVs search from converging to local optima. Experimental results demonstrate that RRBOA has significant advantages over other methods on nine benchmark simulations. Abstract The utilization of drag-reducing polymers has long been hindered by their irritancy, corrosiveness, and toxicity across various domains. In this investigation, we explored sodium alginate, a natural drag reducer, for its efficacy in reducing drag and its resilience to shear in millimeter-scale pipelines. Initially, an experimental setup was devised to assess the drag reduction capabilities of sodium alginate at varying concentrations and flow rates using Response Surface Methodology (RSM). The relationship between drag reduction (DR), concentration (C), and flow rate (Q) was established by analyzing the experimental data. Subsequently, variance analysis was employed to validate the data accuracy, with a comparison between predicted and experimental DR values revealing an error margin within ± 20%. Analysis of cyclic shear testing of sodium alginate solution in tubes demonstrated its effectiveness as a shear flow drag reducer. Furthermore, results from laser particle size analysis indicated minimal molecular breakage of sodium alginate during cyclic shear.

Abstract In order to evaluate the effects of continuous cropping of millet on soil nutrients and soil enzyme activities, the present study was based on four treatments of 2 years of continuous cropping (T1), 3 years of continuous cropping (T2), 4 years of continuous cropping (T3) and rotational cropping (CK), based on 4 years of no fertilizer positioning experiments, and the soil nutrients, soil enzyme activities and millets yields were determined, respectively. The results showed that with the increase of continuous cropping years, the millet yield decreased and was significantly lower than that of rotating with legume crops, and compared with CK, the yields of T1, T2 and T3 treatments were reduced by 8.92%, 13.73% and 37.60%, respectively; the soil nitrogen and phosphorus contents were reduced, the quick-acting potassium content did not change obviously, and the soil pH was increased; Soil urease, alkaline phosphatase, sucrase and catalase activities generally showed a decreasing trend and the decrease was more significant with the increase in the number of years of continuous cropping. Therefore, in order to maintain the soil fertility and increase the millet yield, it is necessary to practice crop rotation and stubble reversal between millets and leguminous crops such as kidney beans, and to apply certain fertilizers.

Abstract Previous studies have reported low self-esteem contributes to depressive symptoms among adolescents, but the underlying mechanism remains unclear. The present study aimed to examine the mediating roles of hope and anxiety in the relationship between self-esteem and depressive symptoms. 431 adolescents between 13 and 18 years volunteered to complete a battery of questionnaires that included measures on the variables mentioned above. Results found that hope or anxiety mediated the association between self-esteem and female adolescents’ depression, while only anxiety mediated the association between self-esteem and male adolescents’ depression. Our findings highlight different underlying mechanisms between female and male adolescents. In the prevention and intervention of depressive symptoms, sound programs should be selected according to the gender characteristics of adolescents.

Abstract Currently, conventional dimethoxymethane synthesis methods are environmentally unfriendly. Here, we report a photo-redox catalysis system to generate dimethoxymethane using a silver and tungsten co-modified blue titanium dioxide catalyst (Ag.W-BTO) by coupling CO2 reduction and CH3OH oxidation under mild conditions. The Ag.W-BTO structure and its electron and hole transfer are comprehensively investigated by combining advanced characterizations and theoretical studies. Strikingly, Ag.W-BTO achieve a record photocatalytic activity of 5702.49 µmol g−1 with 92.08% dimethoxymethane selectivity in 9 h of ultraviolet-visible irradiation without sacrificial agents. Systematic isotope labeling experiments, in-situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier-transform analysis, and theoretical calculations reveal that the Ag and W species respectively catalyze CO2 conversion to *CH2O and CH3OH oxidation to *CH3O. Subsequently, an asymmetric carbon-oxygen coupling process between these two crucial intermediates produces dimethoxymethane. This work presents a CO2 photocatalytic reduction system for multi-carbon production to meet the objectives of sustainable economic development and carbon neutrality.

Abstract Background The aim of this prospective observational cohort study was to unveil the predictors of treatment response to tocilizumab (TCZ) therapy in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients, in terms of clinical characteristics and serum proinflammatory cytokines, especially to explore the predictive value of granulocyte macrophage-colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF). Methods Active adult RA patients with inadequate response to MTX intending to receive TCZ therapy were recruited prospectively in the study. A total of 174 severe RA patients were included for the identification of the associations between treatment response and the following characteristic features: demographics, medications, disease activity, serum proinflammatory cytokines and so on. Results Disease duration (OR = 0.996), tender joint count (TJC)/68 (OR = 0.943), neutrophil ratio (W4/baseline) (OR = 0.224), the high level of GM-CSF > 5 ng/ml (OR = 0.414) at baseline were the independent adverse predictors of good response assessed by clinical disease activity index (CDAI) at week 24 (W24) for TCZ therapy in RA patients. Moreover, DAS28-ESR (OR = 2.951, P = 0.002) and the high level of GM-CSF > 10 ng/ml at baseline (OR = 5.419, P = 0.002) were independent predictors of poor response, but not the high level of GM-CSF > 5 ng/ml (OR = 2.713, P = 0.054). The patients in the high GM-CSF group had significantly higher DAS28-ESR and serum levels of cytokines (IL-17A, IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α) at baseline, as well as significantly higher rate of non-good response (62.8% vs. 39.4%, P = 0.010) and poor response (27.9% vs. 9.1%, P = 0.004) than the low GM-CSF group at W24. In addition, poor responders had significantly higher levels of GM-CSF with concomitant increase in the serum levels of IL-17A and IL-1β at baseline than those in moderate and good response groups, while serum levels of IL-6 and TNF-α at baseline were not significantly different in three response groups. Conclusion The high levels of GM-CSF (> 5 ng/ml and > 10 ng/ml) at baseline were the independent predictors of non-good response and poor response to TCZ at W24 respectively. The high level of GM-CSF at baseline is a marker of high disease activity and a predictor of poor response to TCZ in severe RA patients, which may facilitate the development of individualized treatment strategies for refractory RA.

Background: Food allergy (FA) is a common disorder in children and affects the health of children worldwide. The gut microbiota is closely related to the occurrence and development of FA. Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is a way to treat diseases by reconstituting the microbiota; however, the role and mechanisms of FA have not been validated. Methods: In this study, we established an ovalbumin (OVA)-induced juvenile mouse model and used 16S RNA sequencing, pathological histological staining, molecular biology, and flow-through techniques to evaluate the protective effects of FMT treatment on FA and to explore the mechanisms. Results: OVA-induced dysregulation of the gut microbiota led to impaired intestinal function and immune dysregulation in FA mice. FMT treatment improved the structure, diversity, and composition of the gut microbiota and restored it to a near-donor state. FMT treatment reduced levels of Th2-associated inflammatory factors, decreased intestinal tissue inflammation, and reduced IgE production. In addition, FMT reduced the number of mast cells and eosinophils and suppressed OVA-specific antibodies. Further mechanistic studies revealed that FMT treatment induced immune tolerance by inducing the expression of CD103+DCs and programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) in mesenteric lymph nodes and promoting the production of Treg through the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1)/PD-L1 pathway. Meanwhile, Th2 cytokines, OVA-specific antibodies, and PD-1/PD-L1 showed a significant correlation with the gut microbiota. Conclusions: FMT could regulate the gut microbiota and Th1/Th2 immune balance and might inhibit FA through the PD-1/PD-L1 pathway, which would provide a new idea for the treatment of FA.

The passivation evolution of mild steels in simulated concrete pore solutions with varying pH were systematically investigated in present study. Based on electrochemical, time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry, and ReaxFF molecular dynamics simulation, a plausible model with high logical coherence and theoretical soundness was proposed to elucidate the underlying passivation mechanism. The results depict that the steels within concrete pore solution with high pH facilitates quick and compact film formation, leading to superior passivation performance. Spontaneously-induced passive film of mild steel demonstrates a dual-layer structure composed of an inner layer rich in Fe(II) and an outer layer rich in Fe(III).

Lipid emulsion (LE), a widely used parenteral nutrition, exhibits a well-documented ability to reverse the vasodilatory effects induced by acetylcholine in blood vessels. However, the specific mechanisms underlying this action are not yet fully understood. This study aimed to elucidate the mechanism by which LE reverses vasodilation in vitro through dose-response curve experiments, calcium imaging, and fluorescence assays. The results revealed a significant attenuation of acetylcholine (Ach)-induced vasodilation in rat thoracic aortic rings following LE exposure. In human aortic endothelial cells, pretreatment with LE significantly suppressed ATP-induced calcium elevation. This suppression persisted even after elimination of extracellular calcium with a calcium chelator. Moreover, LE pre-exposure reduced the intracellular calcium concentration ([Ca2+]i) elevation in endothelial cells following cyclopiazonic acid (CPA) treatment, suggesting enhanced endoplasmic reticulum (ER) calcium reuptake. Additionally, nitric oxide (NO) fluorescence assays showed a decrease in NO production upon ATP stimulation post-LE pretreatment of endothelial cells. Taken together, these results indicate that the reversal of vasodilation by LE may involve enhanced ER calcium uptake, leading to a reduction in intracellular calcium concentration and suppression of NO (key vasodilatory agent) synthesis.

ObjectivesSpecialty nurses play a crucial role in specialized nursing practice, teaching, management, and research. These nurses often face significant work pressure; therefore, scientifically and effectively assessing their job stress and its sources is vital for enhancing the quality of their work. However, there is currently a dearth of verified assessment tools for measuring job stressors among specialty nurses. Therefore, this study aimed to develop and test an instrument to assess the job stressors applicable to specialty nurses.MethodsWe conducted a multiphase mixed-methods study. The initial scale items were developed from a literature review and structured interviews. The scale was then refined through two rounds of expert consultation (N = 14) and a primary test (N = 20). A main survey (N = 552) was then conducted to evaluate the scale’s construct validity and reliability using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and exploratory factor analysis (EFA).ResultsThe final scale comprises four dimensions with 27 items. The factors included “specialized nursing and work,” “workload and time allocation,” “patient care,” and “work resources and environment.” The EFA explained 69.10% of the variance, while the CFA confirmed a good model fit. The content validity index was 0.980 at the scale level and 0.790–1.000 at the item level. The scale’s reliability was supported by its high Cronbach’s α (0.958), test–retest reliability (0.946), and split-half reliability (0.868).ConclusionOur findings indicate that the job stressor scale developed in this study is valid and reliable, and is recommended for use among specialty nurses to assess their stressors.

Objectives Specialty nurses play a significant role in improving patient care; however, little is known about the factors affecting their work engagement. This study aimed to explore the relationship between role stress and work engagement among specialty nurses in China.Design A descriptive, cross-sectional study was applied in this study.Setting The study was conducted in the Henan Provincial People’s Hospital in China.Participants From March to April 2023, we conducted a cross-sectional descriptive study, using convenience sampling to recruit 972 specialty nurses from 42 specialised fields in China.Methods An online questionnaire survey was conducted using the Basic Information Questionnaire, Role Stress Scale and Specialty Nurse Work Engagement Scale. The collected data were analysed by using SPSS 21.0 software. The differences in total work engagement scores between subgroups were investigated using a single-factor analysis of variance. A Spearman’s rank correlation and a Pearson’s correlation were used to determine the relationship between general information, role stress and work engagement. A ridge regression analysis explored the impact of role stress on work engagement.Results The total score of role stress was (52.44±19.92) and the total score of work engagement was (140.27±17.76). Among the scores of various dimensions of specialty nurses’ work engagement, the standardised score for work attitude was the highest (4.54±0.56), followed by work values (4.46±0.64); the standardised score of work enthusiasm and focus was the lowest (4.22±0.64). Over the past few decades, the incidence of childhood allergic diseases has increased globally, and their impact on the affected child extends beyond the allergy itself. There is evidence of an association between childhood allergic diseases and the development of neurological disorders. Several studies have shown a correlation between allergic diseases and tic disorders (TD), and allergic diseases may be an important risk factor for TD. Possible factors influencing the development of these disorders include neurotransmitter imbalance, maternal anxiety or depression, gut microbial disorders, sleep disturbances, maternal allergic status, exposure to tobacco, and environmental factors. Moreover, gut microbial disturbances, altered immunological profiles, and DNA methylation in patients with allergic diseases may be potential mechanisms contributing to the development of TD. An in-depth investigation of the relationship between allergic diseases and TD in children will be important for preventing and treating TD.

Abstract Solution‐processed 2D materials hold promise for their scalable applications. However, the random, fragmented nature of the solution‐processed nanoflakes and the poor percolative conduction through their discrete networks limit the performance of the enabled devices. To overcome the problem, conduction modulation of the solution‐processed 2D materials is reported via Stark effect. Using liquid‐phase exfoliated molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) as an example, nonlinear conduction switching with a ratio of >105 is demonstrated by the local fields from the interfacial ferroelectric P(VDF‐TrFE). Through density‐functional theory calculations and in situ Raman scattering and photoluminescence spectroscopic analysis, the modulation is understood to arise from a charge redistribution in the solution‐processed MoS2. Beyond MoS2, the modulation may be shown effective for the other solution‐processed 2D materials and low‐dimensional materials. The modulation can open their electronic device applications, for instance, thin‐film nonlinear electronics and non‐volatile memories.

ObjectiveConstruct models based on grayscale ultrasound and radiomics and compare the efficacy of different models in preoperatively predicting the level of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes in breast cancer.Materials and methodsThis study retrospectively collected clinical data and preoperative ultrasound images from 185 breast cancer patients confirmed by surgical pathology. Patients were randomly divided into a training set (n=111) and a testing set (n=74) using a 6:4 ratio. Based on a 10% threshold for tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) levels, patients were classified into low-level and high-level groups. Radiomic features were extracted and selected using the training set. The evaluation included assessing the relationship between TIL levels and both radiomic features and grayscale ultrasound features. Subsequently, grayscale ultrasound models, radiomic models, and nomograms combining radiomics score (Rad-score) and grayscale ultrasound features were established. The predictive performance of different models was evaluated through receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis. Abstract Human endogenous retroviruses (HERVs) are the germline embedded proviral fragments of ancient retroviral infections that make up roughly 8% of the human genome. Our understanding of HERVs in physiology primarily surrounds their non-coding functions, while their protein coding capacity remains virtually uncharacterized. Therefore, we applied the bioinformatic pipeline “hervQuant” to high-resolution ribosomal profiling of healthy tissues to provide a comprehensive overview of translationally active HERVs. We find that HERVs account for 0.1–0.4% of all translation in distinct tissue-specific profiles. Collectively, our study further supports claims that HERVs are actively translated throughout healthy tissues to provide sequences of retroviral origin to the human proteome.

In order to impart the properties of cementitious material to the Tibetan Agar soil, two high-temperature activation mechanisms (HTMA, HTMB) were designed in this study, and the products and hydration-hardening properties of Tibetan Agar soil high-temperature activation mechanism were analyzed by means of SEM, XRD, and XRF. The results show that the main components of Tibetan Aga soil are calcite and quartz; Aga soil is activated by HTMA high-temperature activation, forming the main products of CaO, C2S, CaSiO3, and CaAl2Si2O8, and its products have both air-hardening and water-hardening characteristics; Aga soil is activated by HTMB high-temperature activation, and when the temperature reaches 1250 °C when the clinker is not found in the CaO, the generation of C2S, C3S, C3A, C4AF, and Mg2SiO4 minerals with good water-hardening cementitious properties occurs when the temperature rises to 1350 °C, although the formation of some inert minerals that do not have the cementitious properties, but this temperature activation products of the thermodynamic properties of the best; Enhancing the value of lime saturation degree (KH) and silicon rate (SM) can promote the formation of the products of the C2S and C3S, increase the reactivity of the Aga soil activation products, and increase the hydration heat as well as compressive and flexural strength, combined with the results of the hydration heat and mechanical test, KH is recommended to be 0.9~0.94, SM is recommended to be 1.8~2.4, and alumina ratio (IM) is recommended to be 1.8~2.4 when Aga soil is used with raw materials.

The exploitation of natural gas hydrates by the pressure reduction method is affected by the decomposition heat absorption effect, and the range of the formation temperature reduction area is expanding. At the same time, the temperature reduction phenomenon is more significant around the production wells under the influence of gas throttling and expansion effects, and hydrate formation will occur under certain temperature and pressure conditions, leading to blockage of effective seepage channels in the reservoir in the region and elevation of seepage resistance, which may affect the output of hydrate decomposition gas. A numerical simulation model is constructed for the purpose of studying the secondary hydrate generation pattern around the well, analyzing the impact of secondary hydrates around wells on the production capacity, and assessing the effectiveness of prevention methods to inform the actual production of hydrates. The results demonstrate that secondary hydrate is typically formed in the near-well area of the upper part of the production well, and the secondary hydrate around the upper part of the production well is the first to be formed, exhibiting the highest saturation peak and the latest decomposition. The formation of the secondary hydrate can be predicted based on the observed change in temperature and pressure, and the rate of secondary hydrate formation is markedly rapid, whereas the decomposition rate, approximately 0.285 mole/d, is relatively slow. Additionally, the impact of secondary hydrates on cumulative gas production is insignificant, and the effect of secondary hydrates on capacity can be ignored. Hot water injection, wellbore heating, and reservoir reconstruction can effectively eliminate secondary hydrates around the well. Reservoir reconstruction represents a superior approach to the elimination of secondary hydrates, which can effectively enhance production capacity while preventing the generation of secondary hydrates.

Ultrahigh molecular weight polymers display outstanding properties and have great application potential. However, the traditional polymerization methods have inevitable disadvantages that challenge the green synthesis of ultrahigh molecular weight polymers. The paper achieved an ultrahigh molecular weight poly (trifluoroethyl methacrylate) via a novel polymerization and discussed the mechanistic, kinetic, and experimental aspects. The combination of palladium nanoparticles with ethyl 2-bromopropionate has been identified as an exceedingly efficient system for initiating the polymerization of trifluoroethyl methacrylate. An ultrahigh molecular weight poly (trifluoroethyl methacrylate) with a number-average molecular weight up to 3.03 × 106 Da has been synthesized at a feeding molar ratio of [poly (trifluoroethyl methacrylate)]/[ethyl 2-bromopropionate]/[palladium nanoparticles] = 3.95 × 104:756:1 at 70 °C. The reaction orders concerning palladium nanoparticles, ethyl 2-bromopropionate, and poly (trifluoroethyl methacrylate) were determined to be 0.59, 0.34, and 1.38, respectively. By analyzing a series of characterizations, we verified that the polymerization of poly (trifluoroethyl methacrylate) was initiated by the ethyl 2-bromopropionate residue radicals, which were generated from the interaction between palladium nanoparticles and ethyl 2-bromopropionate. The comparatively large size of the palladium nanoparticles provided a barrier to chain-growing radicals, promoting the synthesis of ultrahigh molecular weight polymers.

Food waste is increasingly becoming a global challenge, and school canteens are a significant and severe source of food waste. Reducing food waste is conducive to ensuring food security and environmental sustainability. A good understanding on the influencing factors of food waste is a prerequisite for exploring effective measures to reduce food waste. We obtained senior high school first-hand food waste data through field survey using the methods of face-to-face interview, questionnaire survey, and direct weighing in September 2019. Our survey data showed that the per capita per meal food waste of senior high school students (SHSS) was 44.48 g. The specific performance was as follows: the per capita per meal food waste of breakfast, lunch, and dinner was 22.39, 55.28, and 54.24 g, respectively. The empirical results showed that the frequency of eating snacks had a significant effect on whether the SHSS had food waste behavior and significantly affected the amount of food waste by SHSS. With the increased frequency of eating snacks, the food waste probability was increased and the amount of food waste was greater. This study suggested that we could eat snacks but reduced the frequency of eating snacks to achieve the goal of mitigating food waste. This was a simple and effective way to reduce food waste.
