Abstract

Neurological disease is a disorder of the nervous system. It may be associated with the central nervous system or peripheral nervous system. Neurological problems are disorders of specific neurons or loss of neurons with their structural or functional impairment. The specific reason for neurological diseases may be genetic defects, congenital disorders, infections, and environmental health issues. No doubt, there are various well-known synthetic medications are available for the treatment of neurological disorders but they exert many toxicities and ADRs (Adverse Drug Reactions). The identification of compelling and promising molecules may provide a miracle if they can halt the development of neurodegenerative diseases. So, drugs from plant origin are required to be discovered to replace these chemically synthesized drugs as the safety profile of these natural phytoconstituents is wider enough even at their higher doses. This article reviews the therapeutic potential of plant-derived medicines, which possess potential therapeutic effects against various neurological diseases such as Epilepsy, Huntington’s disease (HD), Parkinson’s disease (PD), Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Multiple sclerosis (MS), Depression, and Anxiety. Herbs used in these diseases are matrine, physostigmine, caffeine, morphine, berberine, galantamine, piperine, and other alkaloids. These alkaloids act positively by several mechanisms like dopaminergic and nicotine agonist, acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase inhibitor, NMDA antagonist, inhibitors of α-synuclein aggregation, anti-oxidant, MAO inhibitors, and anti- amyloid agents to ameliorate pathophysiology of neurological diseases. Dur to their therapeutic impact they are now available in market but opportunities exist to overcome technological challenges.

Abstract

CeO₂ nanoparticles are synthesized hydrothermally using CTAB as a surfactant, cerium nitrate hexahydrate (Ce(NO3)3·6H₂O) as a precursor and urea. The synthesized CeO₂ nanoparticles are characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X‐ray diffraction peak profile analysis (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and UV–vis. The X‐ray diffraction results revealed that the sample is crystalline with a face centered cubic (fcc) phase having cubic fluorite structure. The structural elements of prepared samples have been investigated by various methods. The Monshi, W–H analysis, size–strain plot, and H–W methods are used to study crystallite sizes and lattice strain on the peak broadening of CeO₂ nanoparticles. Further, the lattice constant of the cubic fluorite has also been estimated from the Nelson–Riley plot. The parameters, including strain, stress, and energy density value, are calculated for all the reflection peaks of X‐ray diffraction corresponding to cubic fluorite phase of CeO₂ lying in the range 20°–80° and at different temperatures. Abstract

Copper nanoparticles were synthesized from Aloe vera leaf gel extract concentrate from 0.1 Molar Copper sulphate pentahydrate solution. The Aloe vera gel concentrate and copper sulphate solution during the process were subjected to spectrophotometric absorption studies. Prepared nanoparticles were observed for size, zeta potential and polydispersity index, scanning electron microscopy, and energy dispersive X-ray analysis. The results showed that the size of elemental copper synthesized with the help of Aloe vera leaf gel extract concentrate was 272nm. SEM analysis confirmed the morphology of synthesized nanoparticles (spherical shapes). EDX studies further confirmed the presence of 67.21% elemental copper in newly synthesized nanoparticles prepared from Aloe vera leaf gel concentrate. The process of green synthesis uses eco-friendly resources to increase biological safety. The Aloe vera leaf gel extract concentrate efficiently served as a reducing and a capping agent to reduce the size of copper particles to the nanoparticle range.
