Background: Despite the great feasibility of video conferencing platforms, concerns regarding Zoom fatigue, the exhaustion experienced after prolonged virtual meetings, arise. Although often examined from a quantitative standpoint, there remains a significant lack of qualitative exploration of Zoom fatigue. Objective: This study aimed to explore Indian university students' qualitative experiences with synchronous classes and zoom fatigue. Method: Thematic Analysis (TA) was used to analyze in-depth interviews of 24 university students (age = 20.38 ± 1.74, 15 females) enrolled in synchronous courses, i.e. online courses attended by students at the same time they are delivered. Results: Nine primary themes and ten sub-themes were identified by study participants for zoom-delivered courses: (i) beyond screen time; (ii) physical issues; (iii) anxiety; (iv) cognitive difficulties (difficulty in sustaining attention and remembering, multi-tasking, and distraction); (v) experiencing awkwardness (turn-taking and interruption, eye-contact, self-consciousness, and home environment); (vi) technological barriers and discomforts; (vii) lack of sympathy from instructors and administration (regarding self and family's health and regarding technical glitches); (viii) mixed feelings toward instructors (ineffective teaching pedagogy and gratitude and admiration for instructors); and (ix) feeling gratitude. Conclusion: Participants in this study were generally fatigued and dissatisfied with the experience of zoom-delivered classes. Addressing factors contributing to zoom fatigue can ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of synchronous learning. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The hotel sector uses a lot of water and electricity, which is bad for the environment, thus hotels should be more environmentally conscious to lessen their influence. Hoteliers may make significant strides toward a greener sector by encouraging environmental responsibility among their staff and guests via Organizational Citizenship Behaviors (OCBE). This research on OCBEs in India's hospitality sector investigates the link between a green workplace culture, the environmental values of workers, and OCBEs. Findings from a survey of 285 workers at four of India's most upscale eco-hotels show a correlation between green policies and employee values. Additionally, it was shown that a favourable correlation existed between workers' environmental values and OCBEs. The findings of this study suggest that a green culture at work helps to link workers' environmental beliefs to corporate citizenship and ethics. By examining the causes of workers' OCBEs, hotel management may utilise this research to develop more ecofriendly policies and procedures. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The ingestion of various animals with psychoactive properties has been observed since antiquity. Though unusual, lizard use has been reported in the literature as case reports. Yet the rarity of this phenomenon has not been explored through large-scale studies. This paper systematically reviews available case reports of individuals using lizards for recreational purposes and synthesizes the evidence in terms of socio-demographic, clinical, and treatment variables. We conducted a systematic review of the literature including original papers, case reports, case series, and letters to the editor on MEDLINE and Taylor & Francis database. The search terms used were lizard AND (addiction OR psychedelic OR psychoactive). Additionally, bibliographies of published cases were searched for an exhaustive review. Eight case reports (from seven publications) were included for qualitative synthesis. The sample consisted of all males (age = 28 ± 8.97). Findings revealed that the lizards were self-acquired and consumed through varied methods. Ingestion was reported usually as pleasure-inducing, though without any prominent withdrawal symptoms. Additionally, it was highly concurrent with other substances. The finding indicates that using lizards for recreational purposes is a covert and underreported practice. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: The lockdown and stay at home orders implemented by the Indian government to inhibit the spread of COVID-19 disrupted the lifestyle of most individuals in the country. This appeared to result in behavioral changes such as increased internet usage, feelings of loneliness, and disturbance of sleeping patterns. Objectives: The objective of the present study was to examine IGD prevalence and its association with loneliness and insomnia among the Indian population during the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the previous literature, it was hypothesized that IGD would be positively associated with both loneliness and severity of insomnia. Materials and Methods: Utilizing a cross-sectional design, a total of 372 participants (54% males, 42.4% females; 3.5% other; mean age 23.26 years [SD=9.07]) completed an anonymous self-report survey. The three key variables were assessed using the Internet Gaming Disorder Scale-Short Form (IGDS9-SF), the UCLA Loneliness Scale (Version 3), and the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI). Results: The prevalence of IGD among Indians during the COVID-19 pandemic was 0.8% in the total sample and 2.02% among gamers. Regression analysis indicated that IGD was associated with average hours spent online gaming per day (ß=0.164; p=0.02), loneliness (ß=0.177; p=0.01), and severity of insomnia (ß=0.483; p<0.001). Conclusion: The study indicated average hours spent online gaming, loneliness, and severity of insomnia as predictors of IGD. Future research is required to develop a comprehensive understanding of internet gaming behaviors during unprecedented times such as COVID-19. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
