Mass media are a key source of public news, significantly influencing the accessibility of certain issues through media coverage. While media coverage of rival nations is known to influence public perceptions, its potential impact on citizens' attitudes toward their own country is less explored. This study addresses this gap by investigating Chinese respondents' reactions to U.S. news stories related to food safety issues. The research reveals that exposure to negative news stories about a rival nation's food safety scandal can lead to a more favorable assessment of one's own government when the domestic government is perceived to be handling a similar issue better. Conversely, positive news about the rival nation's food safety issues or slightly negative news about a less severe issue diminishes government satisfaction. The findings suggest that the impact of international news coverage on citizens' views is shaped by comparisons between nations' performances. China, as an authoritarian regime that has tight control over social media, has always sought to manipulate public opinion. In addition to censorship, the state mobilizes undercover paid posters to manufacture a pro-regime opinion environment. In this study, we examine the effectiveness of this adaptation by conducting an online survey experiment. We explore whether pro-regime comments accompanying a news post can effectively affect viewers' private and expressed thoughts, as well as whether these are driven by normative or informational social influence. The results indicate that pro-regime comments cannot significantly influence individuals' attitudes in favor of the authorities. Moreover, uniform pro-regime comments can even produce counterproductive effects. However, pro-regime comments do have an impact on individuals' opinion expressions. Respondents who take dissenting viewpoints tend to avoid expressing themselves when facing a climate of pro-regime opinion. • A hydrophobic TENG based on sisal cellulose paper(SCP) was constructed to collect raindrop energy. • Both physical and chemical hydrophobic modification can effectively improve the SCP's dielectric constant. • The hydrophobic SCP-TENG modified by the chemical method is more suitable than the physical method for collecting raindrop energy. • The output electrical signal of SCP-TENG and the raindrop velocity have linear relationship. • The hydrophobic SCP-TENG can be used as raindrop-based sensors. Hydrophobic Sisal cellulose paper (SCP) was obtained by surface modification of SCP via physical adsorbing polymer and chemical grafting monomer, respectively. The influence of surface modification conditioning on the hydrophobicity, dielectric constant and dipole moment of the SCP was investigated. The results showed that the hydrophobicity and dielectric constant of the modified SCP increased with the concentration and amount of the modifiers. The output electrical performance of the TENGs assembled by the two types of hydrophobic SCP for rain energy collection was compared. The output electrical performance of the chemically modified hydrophobic SCP-TENG is higher than that of the physical modified. The maximum power density of the former reaches 8.2 mW/m2. Furthermore, based on the linear relationship between the output performance (output voltage intensity and output current intensity) of hydrophobic SCP-TENG and the droplet velocity, a raindrop-based sensor based on hydrophobic SCP-TENG was successfully constructed and estimated. While the surface charge state of co-catalysts plays a critical role for boosting photocatalysis, studies on surface charge regulation via their precise structure control remain extremely rare. Herein, metal-organic framework (MOF) stabilized bimetallic Pd@Pt nanoparticles, which feature adjustable Pt coordination environment and a controlled structure from core-shell to single-atom alloy (SAA), have been fabricated. Significantly, apart from the formation of a Mott-Schottky junction in a conventional way, we elucidate that Pt surface charge regulation can be alternatively achieved by changing its coordination environment and the structure of the Pd@Pt co-catalyst, where the charge between Pd and Pt is redistributed. As a result, the optimized Pd10@Pt1/MOF composite, which involves an unprecedented SAA co-catalyst, exhibits exceptionally high photocatalytic hydrogen production activity, far surpassing its corresponding counterparts. In this study, we contribute to the social network advertising literature by examining the impact of individual differences (e.g. need for cognition, processing fluency, expertise, and gender) on the attitudes toward social network advertising. In addition, we examine the interrelationships between the attitudes toward social network advertising and consumers' intention to engage in eWOM and intention to purchase. Our proposed model is an extension of the Technology Acceptance Model. In our model, we propose an indirect casual effect (via attitudes toward social network advertising) of perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, incentive offering, advertisement intrusiveness, need for cognition, processing fluency, expertise and gender on intentions to engage in eWOM and on intention to purchase. The growth of social media has captured the attention of companies, which have responded by increasing their advertising efforts toward social media users. Previous studies have devoted considerable effort to developing social media marketing strategies, but minimal effort has focused on examining the types of messages presented on firms' social media platforms to communicate with customers. Practitioners face the challenge of identifying which types of social media message content to choose. In addressing this challenge, this article provides a comprehensive framework of social media content strategy, delivery, and impact on the consumers, including a taxonomical approach that helps firms' understanding of firm-generated content on social media platforms. The search for ideal model systems to investigate the role of different parameters in heterojunction composites for enhanced photocatalysis is a high‐priority target. Herein, a series of heterojunction composites, namely Nax‐C3N4/Pt@UiO‐66, being composed of UiO‐66 and Na‐doped g‐C3N4 with adjustable light absorbance and band structures, have been prepared with different Na contents, which exhibit a volcano curve towards photocatalytic H2 production. Benefiting from the interplay of the two critical factors between light harvesting ability and electron transfer efficiency, the optimized Na0.02‐C3N4/Pt@UiO‐66 shows excellent photocatalytic H2 production, far surpassing its corresponding single counterparts. The heterojunction composites, Nax‐C3N4/Pt@MOF, have been fabricated for photocatalytic H2 production. The optimized activity can be achieved by rationally tuning the light harvesting and band structures of Nax‐C3N4. PdAu@MIL-100(Fe), with PdAu alloy nanoparticles of ca. 1.7 nm encapsulated inside MIL-100(Fe) cavities, were prepared via a double-solvent impregnation followed by photoreduction. As compared with bare Pd@MIL-100(Fe), bimetallic PdAu@MIL-100(Fe) showed superior activities for the tandem reactions between amines and alcohols to produce N-alkyl amines under visible-light irradiation, ascribed to the promoting effect of metallic Au in the photocatalytic alcohol-to-aldehyde dehydrogenation. A Pd/Au ratio dependent N-alkylation activity was observed over PdAu@MIL-100(Fe), implying the possibility of synchronizing the reaction rates of two consecutive steps in the N-alkylation reaction, i.e., photocatalytic alcohol-to-aldehyde dehydrogenation and imines hydrogenation, to optimize the whole reaction. This study provides a highly efficient and stable catalytic system for the realization of alkylation of amines via a successful coupling of MOF-based photocatalysis and metal nanoparticle-based hydrogenation. This work also demonstrates that the reaction rates of different catalytic steps in a cascade/tandem reaction can be synchronized for an efficient overall reaction via a rational design of the multifunctional catalysts. In this paper, we discuss how to model the mean and covariancestructures in linear mixed models (LMMs) simultaneously. We propose a data-driven method to modelcovariance structures of the random effects and random errors in the LMMs. Parameter estimation in the mean and covariances is considered by using EM algorithm, and standard errors of the parameter estimates are calculated through Louis’ (1982) information principle. Kenward’s (1987) cattle data sets are analyzed for illustration,and comparison to the literature work is made through simulation studies. Background: The innovative closed management of universities may have influenced the physical and mental health of students during the fourth stage of the COVID-19 pandemic in China. The study aimed to assess the gastrointestinal and mental health status of students in this stage and to explore the possible risk factors and mechanisms to provide a reference for future school responses to similar stressful events. Method: A multicenter, cross-sectional survey was administered to 598 college students from 10 Chinese universities. The study used the 7-item Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7), 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FCV-19 S), and the Diagnostic Tendency of Functional Bowel Disease Scale (DT-FBD) to evaluate anxiety, depression, fear of COVID-19 and likelihood of being diagnose diagnosed with functional bowel disease (FBD), respectively. Results: A total of 516 college students completed the questionnaire. The proportions of students with more severe anxiety, more severe depression, greater fear of COVID-19, and a greater likelihood of being diagnosed with FBD were 49.8%, 57.0%, 49%, and 49%, respectively. These symptoms were significantly and positively correlated with the frequency of irregular sleep and eating (p < 0.05). Students in high-risk areas were more likely to experience anxiety and depression than students in areas with low/medium risk (odds ratio [OR] = 1.90, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.12–3.24, p = 0.017; OR = 2.14, 95% CI: 1.11–4.11, p = 0.022). A high likelihood of being diagnosed with FBD was positively associated with the severity of anxiety and depression symptoms and fear of COVID-19 (all p < 0.001). Moreover, mediation analysis revealed the following pathway in college students: fear of COVID-19 → depression and anxiety → poor diet → likelihood of being diagnosed with FBD. Conclusion: College students generally exhibited higher more severe anxiety and depression symptoms and psychological symptoms with a greater higher propensity likelihood of being to be diagnosed with FBD. Though playing an important role in longitudinal data analysis, the uses of growth curve models are constrained by the crucial assumption that the grouping design matrix is known. In this paper we propose a Gaussian mixture model within the framework of growth curve models which handles the problem caused by the unknown grouping matrix. This allows for a greater degree of flexibility in specifying the model and freeing the response matrix from following a single multivariate normal distribution. The new model is considered under two parsimonious covariance structures together with the unstructured covariance. The maximum likelihood estimation of the proposed model is studied using the ECM algorithm, which clusters growth curve data simultaneously. Data-driving methods are proposed to find various model parameters so as to create an appropriate model for complex growth curve data. Simulation studies are conducted to assess the performance of the proposed methods and real data analysis on gene expression clustering is made, showing that the proposed procedure works well in both, model fitting and growth curve data clustering. Summary: Self‐renewal and differentiation arrest are two features of leukaemia stem cells (LSCs) responsible for the high relapse rate of acute myeloid leukaemia (AML). To screen drugs to overcome differentiation blockade for AML, we conducted screening of 2040 small molecules from a library of United States Food and Drug Administration‐approved drugs and found that the cyclin‐dependent kinase (CDK)4/6 inhibitor, abemaciclib, exerts high anti‐leukaemic activity. Abemaciclib significantly suppressed proliferation and promoted the differentiation of LSCs in vitro. Abemaciclib also efficiently induced differentiation and impaired self‐renewal of LSCs, thus reducing the leukaemic cell burden and improving survival in various preclinical animal models, including patient‐derived xenografts. Importantly, abemaciclib strongly enhanced anti‐tumour effects in combination with venetoclax, a B‐cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl‐2) inhibitor. This treatment combination led to a marked decrease in LSC‐enriched populations and resulted in a synergistic anti‐leukaemic effect. Target screening revealed that in addition to CDK4/6, abemaciclib bound to and inhibited CDK9, consequently attenuating the protein levels of global p‐Ser2 RNA Polymerase II (Pol II) carboxy terminal domain (CTD), Myc, Bcl‐2, and myeloid cell leukaemia‐1 (Mcl‐1), which was important for the anti‐AML effect of abemaciclib. Collectively, these data provide a strong rationale for the clinical evaluation of abemaciclib to induce LSC differentiation and treat highly aggressive AML as well as other advanced haematological malignancies. Metal‐Organic Frameworks (MOFs) have been used to catalyze the conversion of CO2 to cyclic carbonates through cycloaddition reaction. A series of MOFs composites based on Cu‐BTC (H3BTC, 1,3,5‐Benzenetricarboxylic acid) were screened out by adjusting the ligands and loaded materials. Among them, Cu‐BTC@ZnFe2O4 achieved good yields in this reaction, and after several catalytic cycles, the yield also remained above 90 %. The larger the steric hindrance of epoxides used, the lower the yields of cycloaddition reaction. In addition, computational chemistry was used to explain this catalytic process. After adding the catalyst, the energy barrier of the initial step of the reaction was effectively reduced. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
