Abstract

Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is the world’s most important non-grain food crop and is central to global food security. It is clonally propagated, highly heterozygous, autotetraploid, and suffers acute inbreeding depression. Here we use a homozygous doubled-monoploid potato clone to sequence and assemble 86% of the 844-megabase genome. We predict 39,031 protein-coding genes and present evidence for at least two genome duplication events indicative of a palaeopolyploid origin. As the first genome sequence of an asterid, the potato genome reveals 2,642 genes specific to this large angiosperm clade. We also sequenced a heterozygous diploid clone and show that gene presence/absence variants and other potentially deleterious mutations occur frequently and are a likely cause of inbreeding depression. Gene family expansion, tissue-specific expression and recruitment of genes to new pathways contributed to the evolution of tuber development. 11. Beneficiation and sinter amenability study of iron ore slime of Bolani mines.

Abstract

The Bolani, India, plant generates very fine slimes with an average Fe content in the range 52-55% which are currently discarded as process waste. Beneficiation and enrichment tests using a two-stage hydrocyclone process showed the possibility of upgrading the slime to a product containing 63.5% Fe, 1.8% SiO2 and 2.8% Al2O3 with 31.1% recovery. Sintering tests indicated that iron ore burden sinter containing up to 10% of the beneficiated slime could be used without affecting sinter plant productivity. Abstract

Abstract: A new double borate Li6Lu(BO3)3:Ce crystal with dimensions up to Φ35×21mm3 was prepared by the Czochralski method. The X-ray diffraction pattern of the crystal was measured. The melting point and solidifying point of the Li6Lu(BO3)3:Ce crystal were measured by DSC. Its luminescence properties at room temperature were investigated by ultraviolet fluorescence spectrometer and X-ray stimulated luminescence (XSL) spectrometer. According to these dates, we consider that the Li6Lu(BO3)3:Ce crystal is a promising scintillator. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

The crystallinity of crystal was measured using X-ray rocking curve analysis. The composition of the inclusions existing in the crystal was measured by electronic microprobe. Abstract

A simple potential divider circuit has been synthesized as a voltage stabilizer in this paper by establishing the relations between its mesh impedances and hence determining the nature of its individual coil elements by Kron's tensor method of synthesis.
The synthesis of various types of networks has been made by a number of workers, e.g. Tuttle (1958), Guillemin (1959), Kuo (1965), Valkenburg (1964), Weinberg (1962), Hazony (1971), Chirlian (1967), etc. by different classical methods. Kron (1939) first introduced tensors to the network synthesis. In Kron's method of synthesis certain desirable performance characteristics are given, the problem is to find the relations that must exist between the mesh impedances of the network in order to make the network perform as it is desired. These relations are called the ' criteria of performance ' by Kron. In this paper, the ' criterion of performance ' of a potential divider circuit (shown in fig. 1) acting as a voltage stabilizer has been established for a varying rectified voltage applied at the input, the output load being constant. From this criterion, the nature of the individual coil elements and hence the practical circuit arrangements may be derived readily. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
