In this article, I inquire into the unsure, half-glimpsed kind of experiences, which tend to be excluded from analytical processes and research publications. Based on process thinkers, I argue that in these slippery moments, we are most open to movement, and hence to the other as other. I suggest that we have the capacity to engage with these moments through a loosened but highly focused mode of inquiry—akin to how we bodily respond to the solicitations of the environment when we walk, dance, or skate. By stressing the vague and half-glimpsed, I join others in questioning the academic norm of valuable knowledge as that which is fully illuminated, fully present, and clearly seen in radiant daylight. By pursuing the slippery research experience, I aim to contribute to the emerging stream on doing differently in the academy, including also re-doing academic traditions of writing. This article aims to contribute to the understanding of the temporal aspect of dis/organization by focusing on dis/continuity in the context of organizational change projects. Based on an ethnographic study of a local change project in a school reform context, the analysis explores how absent presences and affects emerge, intensify, and create unintended disorganizing effects. Building on a conceptual framework from Barad, which frames change as a reconfiguration of time-space entanglement, we point to the dynamic relation between continuity and discontinuity as key to understanding the complexity of organizational change projects in an educational context. This article examines how an ambitious public sector digitalization strategy, focused on motivating and enabling citizens to take up digital self-service, changes the nature of everyday encounters between citizens and frontline staff in public offices. Based on an ethnographic study from a citizen service centre in a Danish municipality, our analysis shows how the sense of time and space in these encounters is radically changed, and how the relationship between private and public is reframed in this context. In contrast to the idea of digital technologies as a neutral upgrade of the state administration leading to more efficient welfare provision, the article highlights the unintended effects of digitalization, showing how the traditional ideal of bureaucracy reflected in Weber's legal-rational model, which described bureaucracy as hierarchical, rule-enforcing and impersonal, is reversed. We argue that attention to how digitalization changes daily bureaucratic encounters and the relation between public authorities and citizens, is lacking, both in policy and in the literature on digitalization and e-government. While the scientific rationalisation of the 18th century centred the visibly observable, it also marginalised the senses as a source of imagination, immersion and pleasure. This reduced version of the senses was inherited into the discipline of organization and management studies along with assumptions of deliberate, goal directed action based on preconceived mental models. These assumptions have been widely critiqued in later contributions to organisation theory. However, this article argues that in order to see this critique to the end, we need to re-connect to what organization studies has 'othered' into the field of art and literature. On the basis of texts from Kierkegaard and Blixen, the article discusses how a literary investigation of the othered senses may inform the study of possibility in an organized context and help us move towards an organizational scholarship, which is open to 'otherness'. This article aims to re-conceptualize entrepreneurial creation in the context of New Public Management. While the latter has sought to 'entrepreneurialize' public sector employees by creating incentives for greater engagement in optimizing outcomes, the article departs from the premise that such an entrepreneurialization may more precisely be described as an 'enterprising up' of employees, placing strong emphasis on predefined outcomes and on eliminating the risk that input will not lead to the prescribed outcomes. Noting that this reasoning is fed by a prescriptive/retrospective logic, which tends to marginalize the openness of the ear-body, the article activates auditory concepts to (re)theorize entrepreneurial creation in the empirical context of a strong outcome focus. From 'rhythm', 'composing' and 'crescendo', entrepreneurial creation is theorized as a playful variation, which stays with process and allows the alterity of the other(ness) to resonate - and hence opens up a space for the qualitatively different to emerge. Hereby, the article seeks to contribute to a processual conceptualization of entrepreneurship as the creation of new in-betweens by providing (auditory) concepts that help us grasp this in-between as an emergent relational field of unactualized potential.
