This diploma thesis deals with the written form of communication by users of the social networking website Facebook and members of specified groups. Its aim is to map errors in written expression in the topics of spelling lexicography, morphology and syntactics. In addition it is focused on analysing the extent to which typographical rules are disregarded. These problems were investigated by analysis of the inserted statuses and comments by the members of the selected and specified groups of Facebook. In my research, I found that a large number of the authors made elementary mistakes in spelling that are taught in the first grade of the primary school. Another important discovery is that many users hold the opinion that observing the grammatical rules is less of a priority than the content of their communication.

The Diploma Thesis called Linguistic Characteristics of Current Production of Cookbooks consists of a theoretical knowledge and a practical analysis. The former deals with basic definitions and brief evolution of the history of Czech cookbooks which introduces the most important authors and publications. Furthermore, this part overviews individual parts of recipes and their diachronic changes. The end of the theoretical section is dedicated to important figures of speech described by the individual linguistic structures (stylistics, syntax, lexicology, morphology). The latter comprises the compilation of two cookbooks published after 1989 - Domácí kuchařka (translation: House Cookbook) and Deník Dity P. (Dita P.'s Diary). The works have been thoroughly chosen to point out the differences in both linguistic and non-linguistic structures. The Thesis tries to prove that, even though cook recipes have very pronounced features that distinguish them from other literary genres, they can also differ significantly from each other. This section includes illustrative pictures for further concretization.

of thesis children's knowledges of words accociated with Christmas The thesis is concerned with Christmas traditions, particularly from the point of view of children. The thesis presents the evolution of Christmas celebrations, some of the traditions, and it also compares certain Christmas songs and carols, and thus demonstrates the evolution of Christmas related vocabulary. Furthermore, the thesis also presents a brief overview of the evolution of children's vocabulary. For the purpose of this practical research, the author of the thesis created a questionnaire containing 10 specific Christmas related words that children were asked to explain. The research results show that children seem to have a relatively good passive knowledge of commonly used words associated with Christmas, but in many cases they find it difficult to actively demonstrate this knowledge, i.e. to define, explain those words. In general, the girls describe the meaning of words better than boys. Children attending religious schools have apparently greater knowledge of words associated with religious meaning of Christmas than children from state schools. Comparison of age do not show...

7. SUMMARY This diploma thesis The information value and acceptability of forecasting is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. In the theoretical part the forecasting is described as a product of television newscast. I deal with the fact of forecasting entering the media communication. I deal with the information value that forecasts bring and show the way a piece of information is transferred from a producer to an addressee relating to the process of coding and decoding. I describe the acceptability of forecasts and its elements influencing comprehension. In relation to acceptability, textual linguistics is discussed in a separated subchapter. The last theoretical part deals with semiotics and semantics. These disciplines deal mainly with meaning and sings and that is the reason why they are not important only in the theoretical part but also in an analyzing part of this thesis. The analyzing part is based on semiotic survey analysis dealing with individual components of forecasts (visual, audio and audio-visual). The aim of this thesis is to find out which of components of forecasting brings the highest information value to respondents and which is best comprehensible for addressees. The survey results demonstrate that it is the audio forecasting that has a high information value and brings...

1 ABSTRACT The work deals with the analysis of verbal and nonverbal means of advertising messages in files promoting automobiles and banking products and services through printed brochures and company websites. Advertising texts use elements of journalistic, technical, administrative and artistic styles. Persuasive and attracting functions are dominant for them. These are of the verbal means represented primarily by imperatives, adjectives and adverbs in comparatives and superlatives, by a higher frequency of personal, possessive and totalizing pronouns. Lexically the functions of texts are supported primarily by vocabulary with positive expressivity and terminology of respective field. Enumerations, rhetorical questions, higher splitting of text and placing of persuading means into the rheme of the message are syntactically relevant. These features are also supported by repetition and combination of these means. Of the nonverbal means composition of individual elements within the advertising area, particularly the location of the product and company name, logo, slogan, ratio and layout of text and visual elements, play an important role. Above specified means and combinations thereof can be understood as a strategy of advertising message. Cognitive or affective strategies supported by an appeal to...

14. Summary This Bachelor Thesis focuses on the names of streets and squares of Prague 6. In the first few chapters, the author describes the history of street naming in general from 1770 until 2013. Furthermore, the work addresses the main reasons for renaming streets in Prague 6, which are mostly based on historical and/or social events and changes in the scope of Prague territory. The central part of this thesis contains the current list of streets and squares of Prague 6 accompanied by information about particular name changes occuring during the 20th and 21st century. The total of 662 streets and squares is arranged in alphabetical order according to their affiliation to various parts of the Prague 6 municipality. Additionally, streets are classified by naming motivation into several categories, which further discuss the origin of the names and their lexical form. The results showed that the street names of Prague 6 are mostly in nominative or genitive form and the most common motivation for their naming follows from the street location. The research carried out by the means of questionnaires shows that the most popular unofficial name used in Prague 6 is "Kulaťák" (replacing the official name Vítězné náměstí). - Abstract
The thesis focuses on verbal formulation of ecclesiastical and social symbols in two extant versions of the Old Czech play Mastičkář, in the museum version and in the version known as drkolenská. Both records originated in the 14th century. The former is probably from the first half of the century, the latter from thirteen sixties to thirteen eighties, but they are both transcriptions of older texts. Initially readers are acquainted with editions of the ancient text and then it is put into context of the medieval drama. Genesis and development of the scene ensued with the three disputes related to the work: the dispute over the authenticity of museum version, the dispute over the relation between the Old Czech Mastičkář and German Easter plays, and the dispute over the origin of Mastičkář. The author assorted the symbols into several categories. In her work she focuses on the symbolism of characters and their names, the symbolism of toponyms, animals, flowers, bodies and their parts, dishes and beverages, tools and numbers. At symbol's interpretation general meaning of symbol is defined first, then the symbol's meaning in the work is given and in the end attention is paid to the verbal formulation with focus on the word's morphological characteristics - on its basis the author asserts, that the...

The subject of this thesis is the in time variability of sport slang, namely from the environment of volleyball. In Západočeská vlastivěda devoted to language from 1992 I found a study by Marie Terčová focused on sport slang. Slang of sport shooting and volleyball are compared there. The study also includes a dictionary of volleyball slang from 1987 comprising about 444 entries. I decided to compare the vocabulary of 1987 and contemporary. It was necessary to gather the expressions used by contemporary speakers to contemporary dictionary and then compare the two of them. The initial hypotheses were a higher number of expressions in the older dictionary and also higher number of synonymy expressions, changes in the meanings of many of words. Next hypotheses were a higher concentration of borrowed words in the contemporary dictionary and the majority of transpositional mechanisms in the creation of expressions. The last hypothesis was, that the meaning of the expressions occurring in the older dictionary only, are unknown to contemporary speakers. The former four were discussed by the comparison, the last one by a questionnaire.
