Abstract: Defatted Jatropha kernel meal (DJKM) was irradiated through electron beam radiation at 25 kGy (IJKM). After irradiation, PEs and phytate were decreased by 36.67% and 55.27%, respectively, with slight reduction in total hydrolysed amino acids in IJKM. A 45‐day feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the utilization of irradiated Jatropha kernel meal (IJKM) in the diet of rohu (Labeo rohita) fingerlings. Five isonitrogenous (300 g/kg CP) and isoenergetic (15 MJ/kg GE) diets such as T0 (control, without IJKM), T5 (50 g/kg IJKM), T10 (100 g/kg IJKM), T15 (150 g/kg IJKM) and T20 (200 g/kg IJKM) were prepared and fed to fish of respective treatments. Fish fed diets containing T15 and T20 groups exhibited significantly lower (p < .05) weight gain, FCE, PER, ANPU, HSI, ISI, survival rate, nutrient and energy digestibility, than the other groups. Fish of higher IJKM fed groups (T15 and T20) also showed lower muscle moisture, protein, ash and higher muscle lipid content. The liver catalase and SOD activities significantly decreased in the higher IJKM fed groups. It is concluded that IJKM (irradiated by 25 kGy electron beam) can be incorporated up to 100 g/kg in carp feed with the replacement of 33% soybean meal and 28% ground nut oil cake without compromising growth performances of Labeo rohita. A 45-day experiment trial was conducted to determine the effect of graded levels of dietary ginger supplementation on growth and nutrient utilization of Cyprinus carpio (Linnaeus; 1758) fingerlings. Fishes of uniform size (average weight 6.0- 6.5 g) were divided into six experimental groups in triplicates following completely randomized design (CRD). Six diets having ginger concentration Control T1 (0%), T2 (0.2%), T3 (0.4%), T4 (0.6%), T5 (0.8%), T6 (1%) diet, respectively. The use of this herbs, at 0.8% in diet of koi carps will be an efficient tool to achieve sustainable performance of koi fish and hence increase its production.The result showed that the Zingiber officinale treatment enhances nutrient utilization, which is reflected in improved weight gain,the Specific growth rate (SGR), Protein efficiency ratio (PER), and Feed efficiency ratio (FER). The article presents a study which examined the effect of direct fed anaerobic fungal culture on rumen fermentation, nutrient utilization and live weight gain in crossbred heifers. Crossbred heifers were divided into equal group G1 and G2. All the experimental heifers were offered ad lib. wheat straw and concentrate mixture (containing mustard cake 35, barley 25, wheat bran 38, mineral mixture 1 and common salt 1 percentage) @ 1% of body weight. According to the study, the dry-matter intake as percentage of body weigh was similar in two groups. The study concluded that selected anaerobic fungal probiotic strain did not establish or multiply at rumen and thus could not bring out desired results either rumen profile or nutrient utilization.

The article describes the development and assessment of an area-specific mineral mixture (ASMM) comprising of dicalcium phosphate, zinc sulphate, copper sulphate and common salt in growing females calves fed with wheat straw and concentrates. The supplementation of micronutrients as ASMM and common salt boosted the calves' growth performances and plasma mineral status. The potential of such mineral supplementation to improve livestock productivity in India's Bundelkhand region is also noted.

The article presents an on-farm trial on the impact of stylo meal supplementation in buffaloes. Conducted from May to June 2004, the trial included 10 lactating buffaloes from two farmers. Researchers recorded that the average milk production in control and experimental groups was 7.80 and 8.00 litre, respectively. They did not find significant variation in the dry matter intake in terms of percentage of body weight.

The article discusses a study on the lactation performance of milch cows fed a mixed ration of low grain concentrate mixture, berseem hay and sorghum stovers during extremely hot and dry summer months at Indian Grassland and Fodder Research Institute in Jhansi, India. It points out that the inclusion of various levels and/or sources of wheat bran and oil seed cakes did not significantly affect the isonitrogenous nature of the mixtures.
