Abstract

The crisis of institutional trust has led governments and international organizations to seek new channels for connecting with citizens. Citizen labs are, possibly, the most innovative response that has emerged to create civic engagement and build an alternative development agenda, promoting new participatory processes oriented towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This paper is focused on a case study, the Civic Innovation Laboratories (LABIC) of the Ibero-American General Secretariat, to identify some keys for institutional renewal. Four are the main lessons we learn: a) experimental solutions through prototyping and trial-error; b) transformation (systemic and simultaneous) in three levels (citizen, institutional and cooperation); c) social thermometer with double functionality, problems and solutions proposed by communities and citizens, and d) institution worked as an organic system, in continuous evolution.

Abstract

¿Por qué somos racistas? En la actualidad, la amplia mayoría de la gente responderá que no es racista. Y es posible que no lo sea, al menos, conciente o voluntariamente. Durante los últimos años, la Psicología Social ha estado investigando que el racismo ya no se expresa de manera frontal, explícita. El racismo de hoy es encubierto, latente, ha cambiado y se ha adaptado al control social, se oculta bajo nuevas formas de expresión lingüística, creencias y actitudes. En la era de lo políticamente correcto, el racismo se sanciona, por ello se amolda y continúa presente sin ser confrontativo. Esto es lo que los psicólogos sociales han dado en llamar el nuevo racismo.

Abstract

The "Curarte project" is been developing by the Department of Art Didactic of the Complutense University of Madrid during the lasts years. The most important propose in this project is the "Design, application and evaluation of creative games and toys specially adapted for use in hospitals". In this new project the investigation group worked in the "Design and application of creatives and artistics activities" with hospitalized adolescents in the Community of Madrid. This proposal in concrete was developed in the Unit of Psychiatry of adolescents of the Gregorio Marañón Hospital in Madrid.

Abstract

Actualmente asistimos a un incremento en el interés por los estudios en creatividad debido a su significativo papel en múltiples ámbitos, tales como el artístico, científico, educativo u organizacional. Esto ha dado en el surgimiento de modelos y teorías de la misma que buscan captar su compleja y multifacética configuración. Entre ellos, el modelo de sistemas de Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi aparece como un referente mayor en el escenario académico, que propone un importante corrimiento de las posturas tradicionales en psicología, que se centran en el estudio de la creatividad desde la perspectiva de la persona, para pasar a integrar aspectos de la cultura, la sociedad y el individuo en un modelo holístico. De allí que retomemos la pregunta que se realiza el autor ¿dónde está la creatividad? El presente artículo se propone presentar el modelo de creatividad de Csikszentmihalyi, para posteriormente realizar un análisis exploratorio del mismo en sus dimensiones conceptuales y epistemológicas relacionadas a la creatividad.

Abstract

Background: Patients with mild asthma represent a substantial proportion of the population with asthma, yet there are limited data on their true burden of disease. We aimed to describe the clinical and healthcare resource utilisation (HCRU) burden of physician-assessed mild asthma. Methods: Patients with mild asthma were included from the NOVEL observational longiTudinal studY (NOVELTY; NCT02760329), a global, 3-year, real-world prospective study of patients with asthma and/or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease from community practice (specialised and primary care). Diagnosis and severity were based on physician discretion. Clinical burden included physician-reported exacerbations and patient-reported measures. HCRU included inpatient and outpatient visits. Results: Overall, 2004 patients with mild asthma were included; 22.8% experienced >= 1 exacerbation in the previous 12 months, of whom 72.3% experienced >= 1 severe exacerbation. Of 625 exacerbations reported, 48.0% lasted >1 week, 27.7% were preceded by symptomatic worsening lasting >3 days, and 50.1% required oral corticosteroid treatment. Health status was moderately impacted (St George's Respiratory Questionnaire score: 23.5 [standard deviation +/- 17.9]). At baseline, 29.7% of patients had asthma symptoms that were not well controlled or very poorly controlled (Asthma Control Test score = 2 exacerbations in the previous year. In terms of HCRU, at least one unscheduled ambulatory visit for exacerbations was required by 9.5% of patients, including 9.2% requiring >= 1 emergency department visit and 1.1% requiring >= 1 hospital admission. Conclusions: In this global sample representing community practice, a significant proportion of patients with physician-assessed mild asthma had considerable clinical burden and HCRU.

Abstract

Background A double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase III study (200622) showed that mepolizumab reduces disease flares for patients with uncontrolled FIP1-like-1-platelet-derived growth factor receptor α–negative hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) and two or more flares in the previous year. Objective To further characterize the safety, clinical benefit, and pharmacodynamics of mepolizumab. Methods Eligible patients from both treatment arms of the double-blind study could enter an open-label extension study (205203; NCT03306043) to receive 4-weekly mepolizumab (300 mg subcutaneously) plus background therapy for 20 weeks. Primary end points were safety-based; other end points included flare rates and changes from baseline in mean daily oral corticosteroid (OCS) dose and blood eosinophil count. Results Of 104 patients who completed the double-blind study, 98% (previous placebo, n = 52; previous mepolizumab, n = 50) enrolled in the open-label extension. Overall, 66 of patients reported adverse events (AEs) (65%), 15 reported treatment-related AEs (15%), and nine reported serious AEs (9%). No events were fatal. The annualized flare rate (95% confidence interval) in the previous placebo and previous mepolizumab groups was 0.37 (0.16-0.86) and 0.14 (0.04-0.49) events/y, respectively. Of 72 patients receiving OCS during weeks 0 to 4, 20 (28%; previous placebo, n = 14; previous mepolizumab, n = 6) achieved 50% or greater reductions in mean daily dose during weeks 16 to 20. At week 20, blood eosinophil count was reduced by 89% in patients previously receiving placebo and remained reduced for those previously receiving mepolizumab. Conclusions Extended mepolizumab treatment was associated with a positive benefit–risk profile. Continued control of disease flares and blood eosinophil counts, plus reductions in OCS use, were observed with mepolizumab in patients with FIP1-like-1-platelet-derived growth factor receptor α–negative HES.

Los laboratorios ciudadanos son, posiblemente, la respuesta mas innovadora que ha surgido para crear vinculos y construir una agenda alternativa de desarrollo, impulsando nuevos procesos participativos en el marco de los objetivos de desarrollo sostenible (ODS). Este articulo se centra en un caso concreto, en el de los laboratorios de innovacion ciudadana (Labic) de la Secretaria General Iberoamericana, con el objetivo de extraer claves de accion para la renova-cion institucional.
