Despite its high incidence in the workplace, boredom is yet to be examined in the context of the creative studio. This concern is particularly pertinent because creative personality types are reported to be more boredom prone than others and because, in general, boredom is negatively associated with motivation, a key determinant of creativity and workplace performance. Using control-value theory (CVT) and based on interviews with more than 30 creatives, this article reveals situational antecedents, with their associated control and value appraisals, which lead to creatives becoming bored. Poor briefing, lack of autonomy, and insufficient feedback lead to low control appraisals, while repetition and task-identity incongruence result in low value appraisals. The article examines the consequences of boredom both in terms of individual (reduced or diverted effort) and social (asocial or antisocial) behavior. Green consumption is critical for achieving sustainable development goals. Many studies have focused on explaining why customers choose green consumption, but rarely have scholars considered the significant impacts of the psychological costs. This study conducted an online survey of 677 sampled individuals in China. A structural equation model (SEM) was adopted to explore how three types of psychological costs (i.e., stress, stigma, and autonomy) moderate the indirect relationships of perceived hedonic value and perceived utilitarian value with green consumption (i.e., green purchasing, recycling, and refusing to use disposable products) through the willingness to pay a green premium (WPGP). The results show that perceived values can promote green consumption behaviours by increasing WPGP. In addition, the indirect benefit of perceived hedonic value was shown to be stronger than that of perceived utilitarian value. However, the direct association of perceived hedonic value with green consumption was shown to be weaker (compared to perceived utilitarian value) when the influence of WPGP was excluded. Moreover, the indirect associations of perceived hedonic value with green consumption were stronger among individuals with high stress than those with low stress. In contrast, the indirect associations of perceived utilitarian value on green consumption were weaker for people with high stigma than those with low stigma. However, no evidence was found to show that autonomy can moderate the indirect relationships. These findings emphasize the different mechanisms of perceived hedonic value and perceived utilitarian value on green consumption, as well as the moderating role of psychological costs in understanding the relationship between perceived value and green consumption. Accordingly, this study suggests that policymakers should highlight the hedonic value rather than the utilitarian when encouraging a green lifestyle that involves a green premium. This is particularly true of situations with a high level of customers' psychological costs. Research has demonstrated high rates of mental health problems in university students, and even higher rates in students belonging to historicallymarginalised populations. However, research on disparities in student mental health has almost exclusively focused on internalising problems (like symptoms of depression and anxiety), overlooking other ways in which individuals experience and express negative emotion. To address this limitation, the present study employed the Brief Problem Monitor to examine three types of mental health problems--internalising, externalising, and attentional problems--across six sociodemographic characteristics: gender (male vs. female), sexual orientation (heterosexual vs. non-heterosexual), ethnicity (Dutch without vs. with migration background), internationality (domestic vs. international), disability (no disabilities vs. disabilities), and parental education (continuing- vs. first-generation). These sociodemographic variables were included in regressionmodels simultaneously, thereby controlling for the effects of the others. Across a sample of 2,256 students, internalising problems were significantly higher in students who were female, non-heterosexual, international, and in those with disabilities. Higher externalising problems were found in female students, students with disabilities, those with a migration background, and first-generation students. Finally, attentional problems were higher in non-heterosexual students and students with disabilities. These findings support the premise that different groups of students experience different types of mental health concerns, emphasising the importance of measuring mental health multidimensionally. As an example, had the present study only examined internalising problems, we would not have found mental health disparities for students with a migration background and first-generation students, which has clear implications for outreach and resources offered to them. Interspecific and intraspecific interactions are integral components of antagonistic and mutualistic networks of all animal species. These interactions are affected by various factors, such as morphological, physiological, and genetic characteristics. However, the impact of personality traits on animal inter- and intraspecific interactions remains unclear. We investigated the role of different personality types (proactive and reactive) in Lasiopodomys brandtii. We examined both intraspecific interactions with Lasiopodomys brandtii and interspecific interactions with Kunming mice. We found that for intraspecific interactions, proactive individuals had higher numbers of contacts with opponents, spent more time in the vicinity of an opponent, and moved greater distances within the vicinity of an opponent. For interspecific interactions, proactive individuals had higher numbers of contacts with opponents than reactive individuals. These results suggest that proactive individuals, especially male voles, tend to occupy dominant positions in both intraspecific and interspecific relationships. Consequently, our study is meaningful in understanding how personality traits affect animal behavior, species niche differentiation, and community dynamics and local biodiversity. Background: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a chronic metabolic disorder that has a notable influence on mental well-being, contributing to elevated morbidity and mortality rates. Depression and anxiety disorders are the most common mental health concerns among patients with T2D worldwide. Therefore, the present study aimed to assess the impact of an online intensive lifestyle intervention (ILI) on mental health outcomes (depression and anxiety) in patients with T2D in India. Materials and methods: This retrospective pre-post analysis included adult patients (aged > 18 years) diagnosed with T2D who were enrolled in a diabetes management program in India between June 2021 and June 2023. The intervention consisted of lifestyle modifications such as a customized plant-based diet, regular physical activity, psychological support through group and individual therapy, and medical management. Data were extracted from the electronic database of the clinic, including anthropometry, medical history, biochemical parameters, symptoms of depression, and anxiety (assessed using the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) and Generalized Anxiety Disorders-7 (GAD-7) scale) at the start and end of the six-month intervention period. Results: Of the 1061 eligible patients (177 with prediabetes), 40.3% were female. The mean age, duration of diabetes, and HbA1c levels were 52 ± 10.4 years, 9.8 ± 7.8 years, and 8 ± 1.7%, respectively. The prevalence of symptoms of depression and anxiety (ranging from mild to severe) was 46% and 44.3%, respectively, which reduced to 28.7% and 29.2%, respectively, post-intervention. Conclusion: Integrated ILI successfully improved the symptoms of anxiety and depression, highlighting the importance of a multidisciplinary approach that includes diet, physical activity, psychological support, and medical management in enhancing mental health outcomes among patients with T2D. Future prospective studies are needed to explore the long-term effects of such interventions and develop effective strategies for promoting mental health in diverse populations. Adolescence is a critical period for student education, where students are in the transition period of childhood to adulthood that undergoes changes in their biological, cognitive and socio-emotional conditions. Based on the stage of development, junior high school students should be able to have responsibility in learning, students are able to manage themselves in their way of learning. The focus of this study aims to examine the role of personality type (based on the STIFIn method) and school climate on the self- regulated learning of SMP IT Madani Islamic School students. Sampling in this study used a total sampling involving 300 students. Data collection uses personality type data (based on the STFIn method), school climate scale and self-regulated learning scale. The data analysis technique used in this study is multiple regression analysis. The results showed that STIFIn personality type and school climate played a significant role in self-regulated learning with a value of F = 44,707 and a value of p<.05. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between RUO types and mental health in a youth sample in Hong Kong. Background: Previous research has found that Resilient, Undercontrolled, and Overcontrolled (RUO) personality types derived from Big Five personality traits are associated with mental health outcomes. Most studies, however, have predominantly been conducted in Western societies. Method: Clinical diagnostic interviews and self‐rated measures of psychological constructs, covering resilience, rumination, self‐esteem and more, were administered to 860 youths aged 15 to 24 recruited from an ongoing epidemiological youth mental health study in Hong Kong. Results: Three personality clusters were identified. The first (mean age = 19.6, 63.3% female) and second (mean age = 19.5, 60.7% female) cluster both have characteristics of the under‐ and overcontrolled personalities. The third personality type resembled the resilient profile in RUO typology (mean age = 19.6, 50.5% female) and showed the lowest prevalence of poor mental health. Conclusions: The results suggest that the replicability of the RUO profiles was only partial in a Hong Kong sample predominantly Chinese. The resilient profile was replicated but not the undercontrolled and overcontrolled profiles proposed by previous studies. Treatment-resistant depression (TRD), defined as inadequate results after treatment with at least two antidepressants for 8 weeks, may be attributed to multiple factors, including the patient's personality. In this research, we explored personality profiles based on egograms among 28 outpatients (22 men, 6 women) with TRD. Participants completed two self-questionnaires: the Tokyo University Egogram (TEG) and the Self Grow-up Egogram (SGE). Personality profiles showed the mean energy distribution among five ego states: Controlling Parent (CP), Nurturing Parent (NP), Adult (A), Free Child (FC), and Adapted Child (AC). In all 28 patients, the TEG and the SGE revealed a trough of FC and a peak of AC. SGE results showed a negative correlation between the Hamilton Rating Scale for depression score and FC energy. When patients were separated according to CP, egograms revealed low Adult energy in the low CP group and high Adult energy in the high CP group. Overall, this study indicated low FC energy and high AC energy in TRD and revealed two types of personalities with either low CP/low Adult energy or high CP/high Adult energy. Psychology forms a key part of multidisciplinary teams within hyper-acute specialist rehabilitation services and provides support for patients, families, and staff. There is a paucity of information about what psychology support comprises in these settings, including referral patterns and types of interventions provided. The aim of this study was to analyse psychology referrals and intervention patterns within a hyper-acute specialist rehabilitation service. Anonymised data was extracted for 472 referrals to psychology within a 20-bed hyperacute specialist rehabilitation unit in Greater Manchester between April 2017 and April 2022. Demographic data, referral sources, types of referrals, and interventions offered were analysed retrospectively. Mood support, family support, mental capacity assessments, and cognitive assessment were the most common type of referral to psychology, accounting for 73% of the total. Mental capacity assessments, mood support, and family support were the most common intervention provided. It was notable that more interventions were provided than were referred for, suggesting that additional need was apparent after assessment. Given the frequency of referrals, and interventions provided, it appears that psychology is a highly valued service within the multidisciplinary team. Cognitive impairment (CI) is a type of mental health disorder that mainly affects cognitive abilities, such as learning, memory, perception, and problem-solving. Currently, in clinical practice, the treatment of cognitive impairment mainly focuses on the application of cholinesterase inhibitors and NMDA receptor antagonists; however, there is no specific and effective drug yet. Procatechuic acid (PCA) possesses various functions, including antibacterial, antiasthmatic, and expectorant effects. In recent years, it has received growing attention in the cognitive domain. Therefore, by summarizing the mechanisms of action of procatechuic acid in the treatment of cognitive impairment in this paper, it is found that procatechuic acid has multiple effects, such as regulating the expression of neuroprotective factors, inhibiting cell apoptosis, promoting the autophagy-lysosome pathway, suppressing oxidative stress damage, inhibiting inflammatory responses, improving synaptic plasticity dysfunction, inhibiting Aβ deposition, reducing APP hydrolysis, enhancing the cholinergic system, and inhibiting the excitotoxicity of neuronal cells. The involved signaling pathways include activating Pi3K-akt-mTor and inhibiting JNK, P38 MAPK, P38-ERK-JNK, SIRT1, and NF-κB/p53, etc. This paper aims to present the latest progress in research on procatechuic acid, including aspects such as its chemical properties, sources, pharmacokinetics, mechanisms for treating neurodegenerative diseases. This study identified network types based on multiple indicators reflecting the structure, function, and quality of social relationships, and investigated their associations with mental health in two age-groups. Using 620 South Korean middle-aged and older adults, Latent Profile Analysis (LPA) was conducted for both the total sample and for each age-group separately. LPA derived four network types: diverse-supported, family-focused, friend-focused, and restricted. However, for each age group, the prevalence and composition of the network types differed. While controlling for individuals' demographic information and self-rated health, there were significant differences in terms of mental health among four network types, and an individual's network type membership was found to be significantly associated with their mental health. Although the associations of network types with mental health were overall similar in both groups, the effect sizes of network type impact on mental health were much greater in older adults than they were in middle-aged adults. The phenomenon of nomophobia, defined as the anxiety experienced when a person is without their mobile phone or is unable to use it, has been identified as having serious negative effects on individuals, particularly students. Previous research has explored the relationship between personality traits and nomophobia, but the findings have been inconclusive. The main objective of this study was to classify personality types through latent class analysis and explore the relationship between these personality types and nomophobia. The Chinese version of the Nomophobia Scale and the Chinese brief version of the Big Five Personality Inventory were used in this study to survey 1906 Chinese college students. The results indicated that (1) a four‐class model provided the best fit and categorized the personality traits as the overcontrolled class, resilient class, moderate class, and vulnerable class; (2) significant differences were observed between the four personality types and nomophobia, with overcontrolled and resilient personality types consistently scoring significantly lower than moderate and vulnerable personality types. Background: This study examined the relationship between Type D personality and ageism in young adults, and evaluated the role of protective and risk factors. Methods: Two hundred and forty-seven community volunteers (M age = 31.8 years) reported online on age-related attitudes, Type D personality, and on measures of well-being. Results: A significant correlation was found between ageist attitudes and the tendency toward Type D personality. Both Type D personality and ageism correlated negatively with all the well-being measures. Perceived social support (PSS) partially down-mediated the association between Type D personality and ageism. A three-way interaction was found among individuals with Type D personality. Low PSS and low self-esteem were associated with an elevation of ageism compared to those with low PSS and high self-esteem. Discussion: The current research suggests that self-esteem and PSS are protective against ageism, and might be good targets for psychological interventions in order to mitigate ageism, particularly among individuals with Type D personality. The purpose of this research is to explore how the design of buildings and spaces affects our comfort. The study examines how our visual surroundings and emotional responses are connected. The hypothesis is that people's emotions are influenced by what they see in the buildings, spaces, and furniture around them. Each personality type may have a unique emotional response to their surroundings. The study has three main goals: to analyze the built environment, to assess psychological well-being, and to conduct neuroscience analysis. The built environment analysis is divided into two groups: architecture design analysis and street view design analysis. The psychological well-being analysis identifies three key factors. The neuroscience analysis shows that rectangular shapes combined with linear ornamentation and calming colors create the most comforting building design. The most comfortable street view includes an abundance of greenery with sun-shading effects. In conclusion, the study confirms that architecture affects our emotions. The factors that contribute to our comfort are stored in our mind and body over time. Our mood and emotional state are influenced by what we see in our surroundings. Purpose: The article aims to investigate the relationship between Gustav Jung's theory of psychological types, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) tool, and John Holland's model of occupational preferences. It was explored how these theories can be integrated to better understand and support the career selection process. In addition, the aim of the article is also to try to find an answer to the question whether there is a relationship between the personality type of an employee and the choice of their preferred career path. Design/methodology/approach: The authors described and analyzed 3 psychological theories: Gustav Jung's theory of psychological types, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) tool, and John Holland's model of occupational preferences. These theories could be supportive in the area of human resources management aiming at achieving workers’ job satisfaction. The research was to integrate above-mentioned theories to identify patterns of behavior and career preferences to support human resources management processes. Findings: The study gives the recommendations for possible actions to use of big data analytics to identify patterns of behavior and career preferences, which can lead to more personalized career guidance. Practical implementation of theory integration could be implemented into career counselling, career planning, recruitment, and human resource management. The integration of the analysed theories allows for a more comprehensive approach to career counseling, allowing for a better match of the career path to individual personality traits. Practical application can lead to greater job satisfaction, better professional results and more informed career planning. Originality/value: The value of the research is the possible implementation of the integration of Jung's theory, MBTI, and Holland's model with other psychological theories, such as Maslow's theory of motivation or Bowlby's theory of attachment, which can lead to a more holistic approach to career choice. For example, taking into account intrinsic motivations and psychological needs can help to better understand why individuals choose certain career paths and how they can be supported in achieving job satisfaction. The person-centered approach has provided numerous evidence for three clinically relevant personality types: a Resilient, an Undercontrolled, and an Overcontrolled type (RUO). The present study investigated whether (1) the RUO types could be identified within a large, diverse clinical population based upon transdiagnostical temperament factors, including Behavioral Approach and Inhibition Systems (BIS/BAS) and Effortful Control (EC), and (2) these types differed in terms of psychopathology. Self-report questionnaires, including the BIS/BAS scales, EC scale, Symptom-Checklist-90-Revised, and The Assessment of DSM-IV Personality Disorder, were administered to 2693 psychiatric inpatients. Based on a two-step cluster analysis we corroborated a Resilient (n = 959), an Undercontrolled/Dysregulated (n = 859), and an Overcontrolled/Inhibited (n = 875) type. The latter exhibited more internalizing psychopathology, whereas the undercontrolled/dysregulated type revealed more externalizing psychopathology. The resilient type showed the lowest levels of psychopathology. The present findings strengthen evidence that RUO typologies can be generalized across different psychopathologies and transdiagnostically shed light on the clinical importance of distinguishing subtypes to inform therapeutic interventions, which might possibly improve outcome and reduce relapse. Objective: This study aimed to examine longitudinal associations of Type D personality and smartphone addiction, while also exploring the mediating roles of nomophobia and metacognitions about smartphone use. Methods: Type D Personality Scale-14 (T1), Nomophobia Questionnaire (T2), Metacognitions about Smartphone Use Questionnaire (T2) and Smartphone Addiction Scale Short Version (T2) were applied at two time points. 653 university freshmen (Mage= 18.56, SD = 0.65) from a university in China were surveyed. Results: (1) Type D personality was significantly and positively correlated with nomophobia, negative metacognition, and smartphone addiction. In contrast, the correlation between Type D personality and positive metacognition did not reach the significant level. (2) Compared with individuals with non-Type D personality, those with Type D personality scored significantly higher on nomophobia, negative metacognition, and smartphone addiction. However, the difference was not significant for positive metacognition. (3) Nomophobia and metacognitions about smartphone use fully mediated the relationship between Type D personality and smartphone addiction. While the mediating effects of nomophobia and negative metacognition were significant, the mediating effect of positive metacognition was not significant. Conclusions: Type D personality can not only affect smartphone addiction directly but also indirectly through nomophobia and negative metacognition. Therefore, to prevent and intervene in smartphone addiction, we can start from both affect (nomophobia) and metacognition (negative metacognitions about smartphone use). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the wake of biblical trauma scholarship that identifies how traumatic experience has shaped biblical literatures and the Psalms in particular, interest has emerged in the potential therapeutic role of Psalm 90 in Christian-framed trauma therapies. Drawing on the SIFT approach to biblical hermeneutics, the present study tests the extent to which feeling types and thinking types read Psalm 90 differently. To ensure good welfare of animals in human hands, it is essential to modify housing conditions according to the animals’ needs. Traditionally, the effects of such modifications are studied by means of group-level comparisons, thereby widely neglecting consistent inter-individual differences (i.e., so-called ‘animal personalities’). However, as animals with distinct personality types might differ in their environmental needs and hence react differently to the same environment, such systematic inter-individual differences might have important welfare consequences. This becomes particularly apparent under laboratory conditions, where animals are typically housed under highly standardized and barren environments. Against this background, we here aim to investigate personality-dependent welfare consequences in response to different housing conditions in laboratory mice. Female C57BL/6J mice were characterized for their personality type in exploration behavior and the most and the least explorative individuals were set up in either simple or in highly complex housing conditions that included constantly changing environmental enrichment items. We monitored individual welfare by studying behavioral, physiological, and immunological outcome measures. Besides personality dependent differences in immune parameters and overall improved welfare under complex housing conditions, we indeed found hints that individual mice were differently affected in their welfare depending on the specific combination of personality type and housing condition. Specifically, highly explorative mice appeared to be more adversely affected by simple housing, but also profited more from complex housing compared to low explorative mice. These findings indicate that welfare promoting adjustments do not necessarily benefit all individuals equally and therefore, call for a shift of perspectives in the evaluation of animal welfare. SUMMARY: Personality disorders are a group of psychological disorders characterised by a developmental nature, long-lasting impairment and emotional suffering. Personality disorders have an estimated prevalence rate of approximately 8% in community settings, but in in-patient settings the rate might be as high as 76%. Cognitive–behavioural therapies (CBTs) include psychotherapies that emphasise the identification and modification of maladaptive thought patterns and behaviours that contribute to the maintenance of psychological disorders. CBTs have demonstrated their effectiveness in treating various types of personality disorder. This article focuses on the nature of personality disorders and their categorial and dimensional assessment and neurobiology. We present three influential CBT models used in personality disorders: schema therapy, cognitive interpersonal therapy and dialectical behaviour therapy. For each one, we outline the rationale, intervention strategies and therapeutic techniques, with practical examples and summary tables to illustrate their application. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) stems from individuals' dissatisfaction with their basic needs, and each individual develops distinct FoMO characteristics. This research aimed to analyze the relationship between personality types, fulfillment of basic needs, and the incidence of FoMO syndrome in East Java. We employed a correlational approach with a cross-sectional design for the study. The study's population comprised youths aged 12-25 in East Java. We obtained our research sample, consisting of 140 individuals, through proportionately stratified random sampling. The instruments we used included the Jung personality type indicator, a basic needs assessment, and the FoMO questionnaire. We analyzed the data using the chi-square test (p<0.05) and Spearman's rho (p<0.05). Our research findings indicated that the prevalent personality type in East Java was introverted, with 84 youths (60.0%). Additionally, 125 youths (89.3%) reported a high level of adequately met needs, while 71 (50.7%) fell into the moderate FoMO category. The Chi-square test revealed a significant correlation between personality type and the incidence of FoMO syndrome (p=0.000). Similarly, Spearman's rho indicated a significant link between meeting basic needs and the occurrence of FoMO syndrome (p=0.000). Adolescents with both introverted and extroverted personality types, coupled with low basic needs satisfaction, were more prone to experiencing FoMO syndrome. Our study's implications underscored the necessity of increasing motivation to fulfill basic needs, thereby mitigating the likelihood of experiencing FoMO. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The hypothesis of slow–fast syndromes predicts a correlation between personality type and learning style; fast explorers would have a more proactive (fast but inflexible) learning style whereas slow explorers would be more reactive (slow but flexible) learners. Empirical evidence for this personality-cognition coupling remains inconclusive and heavily biased toward birds. Moreover, most studies did not examine the personality-cognition correlation when the cognitive task is discerning food quality, a scenario directly related to energy acquisition that underpins the evolution of slow–fast syndromes. In this study, we examined the exploration–cognition correlation in the context of avoidance learning in an opportunistic predator—the common sun skink Eutropis multifasciata. We quantified exploration tendencies of individuals in an unfamiliar environment and compared foraging behaviors when lizards associated prey color and taste during the initial learning trials and subsequent reverse learning trials, where the color–taste associations were switched. We found that fast explorers were less choosy and modified their foraging behaviors less with experience, conforming to a more proactive cognitive style. In contrast, slow explorers were reactive learners and were able to change foraging behaviors in both learning and reverse learning phases, even though the ability to do so depended on the color–taste treatment. Contrary to conventional predictions, the proactive–reactive learning styles in our focal species were not differentiated by a learning speed-flexibility trade-off. Our findings offer nuanced support to the slow–fast syndromes and suggest that the two types of exploration–cognition correlations could be different responses to fast-changing environmental predictability. This study examines the links between vaccination status, fear of vaccination (cognitive and somatic symptoms), anxiety, alexithymia, and type D personality (negative affect and social inhibition), to propose policies to increase vaccination rates. A sample of university students (n = 2535; mean age = 20.59, SD = 2.04; male: 26.75%, female: 73.25%) from Spain, Italy, Lebanon, Nigeria, Turkey, and Ukraine completed the Vaccination Fear Scale (VFS-6), the Generalised Anxiety Disorder scale (GAD-7), the Perth Alexithymia Questionnaire—Short Form (PAQ-S), the Type D Scale (DS14), and also a question on vaccination status. Correlation, regression, and network analyses were applied. Cognitive symptoms of fear of vaccination and negative affect were the most significant in the correlation and regression analyses. In the network analysis, negative affect showed the highest values in all centrality indices and positive relationships with other nodes. Vaccination status showed negative relationships with fear of vaccination, alexithymia, and social inhibition. The network structure is similar between the sexes but varies between cultures and sexes within cultures. The relationship between vaccination status and cognitive symptoms of fear of vaccination was the most consistent, allowing for interventions at this level to be advised across cultures. Selecting the right academic major significantly shapes an individual's future career path, making it a longstanding focus of research. The shift to online platforms, accelerated by the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic, has transformed counseling and guidance systems. Consequently, developing robust online support systems has become imperative for extending guidance to all students. This article introduces the design, development, and evaluation of "My Future Career," a multidimensional recommendation system (RS) crafted to aid students in navigating university and academic major selection decisions. The system relies on three key student‐driven parameters: central university entrance exam scores, rankings, and occupational personality types, utilizing cosine similarity and normalized distance to align user and item profiles. Following the system's completion, an assessment was conducted using data from real users, revealing an impressive accuracy (hit rate 100%, precision 88%) in recommendations following the inclusion of contextual post‐filtering features. The findings not only highlight the system's effectiveness but also underscore the positive user experience, as students express contentment with its ease of use and practical utility. The results emphasize the endorsement of expert's regarding the system's consistency (52%), relevance (96%), and acceptance (96%) in providing recommendations. Problem-based learning (PBL) is an approach where group discussions and collaboration are apparent during problem-solving activities. Accordingly, learners’ personality types that affect the way they think, feel, behave, and interact may potentially have a role in PBL classrooms. This study tries to reveal the possible roles personality types play in PBL by investigating the effects of PBL on the argumentative essay writing of both extroverted and introverted students. This study employed a quasi-experimental design by randomly selecting students in academic writing courses for both the experimental and comparison groups and involving them in the intact classes. The findings revealed that the students in the PBL group scored higher than those in the guided writing group. Moreover, the extroverted students in the PBL group achieved higher mean scores than the extroverted students in the comparison group; however, the difference was insignificant. On the contrary, the statistical analysis showed that the introverted students in the experimental group outperformed those in the comparison group. This is to say that the introverted students taught using PBL had better skills in writing argumentative essays compared to those taught using guided writing techniques. This finding implies the need to use suitable teaching strategies that facilitate both extroverts and introverts in developing their writing skills while also sharpening their communicative and social skills. Purpose: Based on the theoretical predictions of media equation theory and the computers-are-social-actors (CASA) perspective, this study aims to examine the effects of performance error type (i.e. logical, semantic or syntactic), task type and personality presentation (i.e. dominant/submissive and/or friendly/unfriendly) on users' level of trust in their personal digital assistant (PDA), Siri. Design/methodology/approach: An experimental study of human–PDA interactions was performed with two types of tasks (social vs functional) randomly assigned to participants (N = 163). While interacting with Siri in 15 task inquiries, the participants recorded Siri's answers for each inquiry and self-rated their trust in the PDA. The answers were coded and rated by the researchers for personality presentation and error type. Findings: Logical errors were the most detrimental to user trust. Users' trust of Siri was significantly higher after functional tasks compared to social tasks when the effects of general usage (e.g. proficiency, length and frequency of usage) were controlled for. The perception of a friendly personality from Siri had an opposite effect on social and functional tasks in the perceived reliability dimension of trust and increased intensity of the presented personality reduced perceived reliability in functional tasks. Originality/value: The research findings contradict predictions from media equation theory and the CASA perspective while contributing to a theoretical refinement of machine errors and their impact on user trust. Background: In almost every country in the world, mental health problems are alarmingly on the rise. There are various myths and beliefs regarding mental health across various communities' that deviate from the scientific view. This may negatively affect treatment seeking and adherence among people with mental illness. We aimed to systematically review community perceptions of mental health problems in Ethiopia. Methods: MEDLINE/Pub Med, PsycINFO, Cochrane Library, Scopus/Science Direct, Hinari, and Google Scholar were systematically searched. The review was carried out following a mixed-method narrative synthesis approach and the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guideline. Five qualitative and twelve quantitative primary studies that focused on the community's perceptions of mental health problems in Ethiopia were included. The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) guidance for conducting a mixed-method systematic review approach was used. A narrative synthesis following thematic analysis was conducted using a combination of the transformed quantitative data and the data from qualitative studies. Results: The review findings were classified into four domains, which are: perceived causes, identification symptoms, severity of mental disorders, and preferred treatment options. The community's perceptions of the causes of mental health problems consist of supernatural agents, socio-economic factors, and biochemical factors. Perceptions of treatment options comprise: religious treatment, modern medicine, psychosocial support, and traditional treatment. Conclusion: A variety of community perceptions towards mental health problems were seen. The community's perceptions vary from person to person and among types of mental health problems. Objectives: Few panel studies have investigated how different types of mental health (MH) and socio-emotional wellbeing (SEW) outcomes have changed during the pandemic and if their burden has been equally distributed at the population-level. We aimed to examine temporal changes in these outcomes and their socio-ecological predictors using panel data. Study design: Longitudinal population-based survey with overlapping panels. Methods: Analyses were carried out using four measurements of data from the Health and Social Survey (April 2020 to April 2021). Participants included Andalusian (Spanish) residents aged 16 years or older who participated in all four measurements (n = 1223). Seven dichotomous MH and SEW outcomes, as well as several socio-ecological predictors informed by a conceptual model, were examined in descriptive and multivariate analyses. Results: Unadjusted odds of regular/bad perceived mental health (vs. excellent/very good/good), low socio-emotional wellbeing (vs. regular), low happiness (vs. regular), and feeling anxious (vs. not feeling anxious) decreased significantly from the first to the second measurement; however, in the fourth, low socio-emotional wellbeing significantly increased while low optimism decreased. Considering varying coefficients, objectively measured COVID-19 status and self-reported severity levels of the infection were statistically significant. Health status, social support, and household financial difficulty predicted higher adjusted odds in most of the seven assessed outcomes. Conclusions: Significant temporal variations in MH and SEW outcomes, along with their predictors, were observed during the first year of the pandemic. Some of these outcomes worsened as the pandemic progressed, whereas others improved. Background: Atrial Fibrillation (AF) is known to be associated with a negative emotional state. Patient-reported outcomes (PROs) are important tools for evaluating the endpoints of AF management. This study aims to examine the correlation between personality types and PROs in patients with AF. Methods: All included subjects were newly diagnosed with AF fewer than one month, and their personality types were assessed using the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQ). Quality of life (QoL) was measured using the Atrial Fibrillation Effect on Quality of Life (AFEQT) questionnaire. Anxiety and depression were assessed using the General Anxiety Scale (GAD-7) and the 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), respectively. We constructed stepwise linear regression analyses for factors related to the QoL and emotional state in patients with AF. Results: A total of 531 AF patients completed the survey and were categorized into four groups based on their personality types. Of these patients (mean age: 67.12 ± 10.93 years, 50.28% male), 357 (67.23%) had paroxysmal AF, and 16.95% (n = 90) had a sanguine personality. Compared to patients with other personality types, those with a sanguine personality had the highest average AFEQT scores (P < 0.001) and the lowest scores of GAD-7 and PHQ-9 scales (P < 0.05). Furthermore, multiple linear regression analyses suggested that sanguine personality was also independently associated with better QoL and emotional states (P < 0.05). Background: Type 2 diabetes is one of the most prevalent and preventable diseases worldwide and impulsivity, a psychological trait characterized by making quick decisions without forethought, has been suggested as a key feature for health-related conditions. However, there have been no studies examining the relationships between impulsivity and the incidence of type 2 diabetes and our aim was to assess the prospective association between trait impulsivity and the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Methods: A prospective observational study design was conducted between May 2014 and February 2023 within the NutriNet-Santé cohort. A web-based platform was used to collect data from the French adult population, with voluntary enrollment and participation. Of the 157,591 adults (≥ 18 years old) participating in the NutriNet-Santé study when impulsivity was assessed, 109,214 participants were excluded due to prevalent type 1 or 2 diabetes or missing data for impulsivity or follow-up data for type 2 diabetes. Trait impulsivity, and the attention, motor, and non-planning subfactors, were assessed at baseline using the Barratt Impulsiveness Scale 11. Incident type 2 diabetes was ascertained through follow-up. Medical information was reviewed by NutriNet-Santé physician experts to ascertain incident diabetes cases based on the ICD-10. Cox regression models, using hazard ratios and 95% confidence intervals (HR [95% CI]), were performed to evaluate associations between impulsivity per 1 standard deviation increment and type 2 diabetes risk, adjusting by recognized confounders. Results: Of the 48,377 individuals studied (women 77.6%; age at baseline = 50.6 year ± 14.5 years), 556 individuals developed type 2 diabetes over a median follow-up of 7.78 (IQR: 3.97–8.49) years. Baseline impulsivity was associated with an increased risk of type 2 diabetes incidence (HR = 1.10 [1.02, 1.20]). The motor impulsivity subfactor was positively associated with type 2 diabetes risk (HR = 1.14 [1.04, 1.24]), whereas no associations were found for attention and non-planning impulsivity subfactors. Conclusions: Trait impulsivity was associated with an increased type 2 diabetes risk, mainly driven by the motor impulsivity subfactor. If these results are replicated in other populations and settings, trait impulsivity may become an important psychological risk factor to be considered in the prevention of type 2 diabetes. ABSTRACT This article integrates insights from the Journal of Personality's Registered Report‐only special issue, which explores the relationship between personality and experiences within solitude. Contrary to the traditional view that solitude primarily serves those who are introverted or seeking refuge from social interactions, findings in this issue demonstrate that solitude is actively sought by, and may hold benefits for, a broad spectrum of personality types. We discuss these findings and suggest there may be more complex interactions between personality and solitude than previously recognized. We highlight the importance of conceptual and methodological clarity in studying both personality and solitude. Studies also show that the benefits of solitude for well‐being depend on contextual factors including the function and purpose of solitude, and activities undertaken (or not) when alone. Preferences for, and enjoyment of, solitude are influenced by more than just personality traits; they are shaped by how personality interacts with specific situations and contexts. We provide practical recommendations for future research to refine methods in order to better understand the nuanced experiences of solitude. These approaches will help clarify the conditions under which solitude is most beneficial and offer deeper insights into how solitude can improve well‐being for different individuals. Background: Anxiety, depression, and Type D personality are strongly correlated with the prognosis of IHD and the effectiveness of therapy. The main purpose of this study was to assess the proportions and associations of anxiety, depression, and Type D personality among clinically stable IHD patients (aged 18–60) treated at an outpatient clinic operated by a government hospital in Sri Lanka, who were diagnosed with IHD within the preceding three months. Methods: A cross-sectional study design was analysed using SPSS® version 23.0. The validated Sinhalese version of the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) was used to measure anxiety and depression, while the DS-14 was used to determine Type D personality traits. Results: Among the 399 patients, 29.8% (n = 119) had anxiety, 24.8% (n = 99) had depression, and 24.6% (n = 24.6) had Type D personality. The level of anxiety had a significant association with depression (p = 0.002) and Type D personality (p = 0.003). Furthermore, depression was significantly associated with ethnicity (p = 0.014), occupation (p = 0.010), and type D personality (p = 0.009). Type D personality was the strongest predictor of anxiety, with patients being 1.902 times more likely to experience anxiety (95% CI 1.149–3.148; p = 0.012). Anxiety was a significant predictor of depression, with patients being 1.997 times more likely to experience depression (95% CI 1.210–3.296; p = 0.007). Non-Sinhalese ethnic background was also a significant predictor of depression (OR: 0.240; 95% CI 0.073–0.785; p = 0.018). Anxiety increased the likelihood of having Type D personality traits by 1.899 times (95% CI 1.148–3.143; p = 0.013). Conclusion: The current study recommends the importance of screening and treating the psychological risk factors of IHD patients parallel to their IHD treatment to improve their prognosis. These insights highlight the need for targeted interventions that address depression, anxiety and the impact of Type D personality traits in enhancing the overall management and prognosis of IHD. This article presents a study on how digital mediation in the teaching-learning process of Modern and Contemporary Physics concepts in elementary school establishes the production of hybrid mechanisms of cognition between humans and non-humans, in light of Bruno Latour's generalized symmetry. To this end, we chose as knowledge content the phenomenon of nuclear fusion, foreseen as an object of knowledge in the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) of Natural Sciences. In view of this, we adopted the articulation of three theoretical references, the Network Cognitive Mediation Theory (TMC), responsible for discussing the mediation mechanisms as processing external to the human brain and its implications on the cognitive structure of students, the Theory of Mental Models that classifies and categorizes the types of mental representations and Bruno Latour's Symmetrical Anthropology that provides a systemic, reticular and nondichotomized view of the construction of reality. The initial results were obtained after analyzing the questionnaires and the students' verbal and sign languages. Subsequently, we interpreted the results in accordance with the concepts of hybridization, detours and translations of Latourian thought. We found that digital mediation in this context influences the cognitive mechanisms used by students and the sophistication of the mental representations constructed by them. Finally, we recognize that both the teaching-learning process and the construction of mental representations based on digital mediation constitute Latourian hybrids, as the actors involved begin to share human and non-human skills. Simple Summary: In marine coral reef ecosystems, anemonefish are a group with highly complex behavioral patterns and strict social hierarchies. However, there has been a paucity of research on the factors associated with stable hierarchical relationships or the behaviors performed during competitive interactions, especially in anemonefish in the growth phase before sexual differentiation. In the present study, we employed an observational approach to assess the personality type of each individual by observing the interactive behavior between unsexually differentiated Amphiprion clarkii. Our findings revealed that the personality of A. clarkii varied significantly between individuals, with two main types. Furthermore, our pairing experiments confirmed the impact of personality on the establishment of a stable social hierarchy. These personality-related behavioral traits are potentially important for both individual and population survival, and extend our understanding of the establishment and evolution of social hierarchies in anemonefish and their impact on population dispersal. Furthermore, they have the potential to guide aquaculture practices. In this study, the behavioral ethogram of Amphiprion clarkii during the growth phase prior to sexual differentiation was summarized based on behavioral observations in three social environments. These behaviors can be classified into four categories: in addition to normal behaviors, the other three categories of behaviors—threatening, agonistic, and appeasing behaviors—represent different intentions in interactions with other individuals. Subsequently, the personalities of each individual were assessed by testing their reactions to intruders. These individuals mainly exhibited two distinct personality types: bold-aggressive and shy-submissive. In pairing experiments, the interactive behaviors of the anemonefish were observed in pairing combinations of different body sizes and personalities. The impact of personality on the establishment of a stable social hierarchy was confirmed by significant differences in the success rates of different pairing combinations, with the frequency of appeasing behaviors being the main factor influencing the success rate. Our results suggested that in natural waters, when juvenile individuals migrate among host anemones, shy-submissive individuals are more likely to be accepted due to their appeasing behaviors towards larger individuals, thus avoiding the risk of being attacked and bitten, and benefiting the survival of the individual. Conversely, bold-aggressive individuals are more likely to be driven away to another host anemone due to their unwillingness to settle for a lower-ranked status, thereby contributing to population dispersal and increasing opportunities for gene exchange between populations. For many, direct democracy is said to increase political interest. To date, however, empirical findings regarding this relationship remain inconclusive. In this article, we claim that this inconclusiveness can be partly ascribed to the diverse effects that direct democracy has on individuals. In other words, direct democracy influences political interest, but how and to what degree depends on an individual's personality traits. Running hierarchical regression models with survey data from random samples of eligible American and Swiss voters, we arrive at the following three conclusions: First, in both countries, the use of direct democracy is not directly connected to political interest. Second, the Big Five personality traits affect the interest in politics. Third, neuroticism, in particular, alters the relationship between direct democracy and political interest, suggesting that a certain personality type is likely to be more sensitive to popular votes, and a vibrant democratic environment can help to inspire interest in politics for people who, because of their personality, tend to be detached from it. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on how journalists carry out their work. This study investigates how the pandemic has affected the psychological well-being of journalists in Finland and Norway. The prevalence of six types of psychological distress symptoms is measured, as well as the impact of three work-related risk factors on distress severity. The risk factors were range of potential virus exposure in line of work, negative experiences due to working remotely, and lack of workplace social support. Study results are based on three separate online surveys, two collected in Norway (June 2020, N = 2115; December 2020, N = 1799), and one in Finland (January–February 2021, N = 552). Between 74 and 77% of journalists had experienced some form of distress to at least some degree, and 28–47% had severe problems related to one or more distress subtype. Feeling isolated, anxious, or worn out were most frequent. Distress of all six subtypes was significantly more common among females. Two risk factors (negative experiences due to remote work; lack of social support) predicted more distress in all three datasets and one (virus exposure during work) in two samples. This study aims to compare the psychological resilience of children who receive Montessori education with those who do not receive Montessori education(the group attends a school where education is provided according to the Preschool Education Programme of the Ministry of National Education). The study used the Relational Scanning Model Comparison Types to compare the psychological resilience of children who received Montessori education with those who did not. The research involved 99 children aged 3–6 years who received regular preschool and Montessori education during the 2021–2022 academic year. It is reported that no developmental or neurological defects were observed in any of the participants. The study group comprised 50 children aged 3–6 years from a private kindergarten affiliated with National Education in Nilüfer district and 49 children aged 3–6 years from a private Montessori kindergarten in Nilüfer district. According to the study, children who received Montessori education demonstrated comparatively higher levels of psychological resilience than those who did not receive Montessori education. It has been observed that there exists a weak but meaningful correlation between the psychological resilience of children and their social relationships/social performance, particularly in those who have received Montessori education for an extended duration. Examining personality traits can enhance the likelihood of a successful interaction between humans and robots in forthcoming work settings. Employing the emic/etic approach stands out as a crucial method for investigating personality types in the context of future environments. Currently, no study has explored the impact of this approach on individuals' willingness to engage with a robot. In the present study, our aim is to determine whether emic characteristics can influence the connection between etic traits and the willingness to use a robot. In the current study, 367 male workers participated. All data were collected using valid and reliable questionnaires. The Five-Factor model of personality was regarded as etic personality characteristics, while the moderating roles of technology affinity and STARA were assessed as emic personality characteristics. The analytical process followed the method presented by Hayes et al. for analyzing moderators. Technology affinity, as a primary emic factor, exerts a moderating influence on the association between neuroticism, openness, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and the willingness to use robots. Conversely, STARA serves as a mediator exclusively in the relationship with neuroticism among workers. Notably, extroversion does not exhibit mediation with any of the emic factors. Both emic and etic personality characteristics were recognized as significant facilitators of the inclination to use robots. In the present paper, we research the phenomenon of early school leaving through the biography of school leavers. The participants were 14 individuals (five females and nine males) who had left school early before completing secondary education. The interviewees' discourse highlighted the mediating factors and the reasons for leaving school. Also, early school leavers are a heterogeneous group of individuals, where the diversity of their family's cultural capital has shaped different inclusion conditions in the Greek educational system. Background: Intellectual disability (ID) is a neurodevelopmental condition affecting around 2% of children and young adults worldwide, characterized by deficits in intellectual functioning and adaptive behavior. Genetic factors contribute to the development of ID phenotypes, including mutations and structural changes in chromosomes. Pathogenic variants in the HCFC1 gene cause X-linked mental retardation syndrome, also known as Siderius type X-linked mental retardation. The MN1 gene is necessary for palate development, and mutations in this gene result in a genetic condition called CEBALID syndrome. Methods: Exome sequencing was used to identify the disease-causing variants in two affected families, A and B, from various regions of Pakistan. Affected individuals in these two families presented ID, developmental delay, and behavioral abnormalities. The validation and co-segregation analysis of the filtered variant was carried out using Sanger sequencing. Results: In an X-linked family A, a novel hemizygous missense variant (c.5705G > A; p.Ser1902Asn) in the HCFC1 gene (NM_005334.3) was identified, while in family B exome sequencing revealed a heterozygous nonsense variant (c.3680 G > A; p. Trp1227Ter) in exon-1 of the MN1 gene (NM_032581.4). Sanger sequencing confirmed the segregation of these variants with ID in each family. Conclusions: The investigation of two Pakistani families revealed pathogenic genetic variants in the HCFC1 and MN1 genes, which cause ID and expand the mutational spectrum of these genes. Joint consideration of the ideas of individual niche specialization and animal personalities predicts co-variation in personality expression and realized niche use. Animal personalities are characterized by within-individual consistency linked to consistent among-individual variation in behavior across time and contexts. Individual niche specialization posits that members of local groups should diversify in their foraging phenotypes to alleviate inter-individual competition and ensuing conflicts. Here, we tested the hypothesis that early life experiences shape individual foraging niches and personality expression in the omnivorous plant-inhabiting predatory mite Amblyseius swirskii. To this end, we exposed predatory mite females in their early life phase to one of three diets (pollen, spider mites or thrips) or no food (control) and later evaluated the adult females' mean trait expressions and personalities in exploration, activity and aggressiveness. Personality formation was analyzed by intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC). The predators showed personalities in all three behavioral dimensions but personality formation and diet preference were strongly influenced by early-life diet experiences. Personality types in exploration were predictive of fitness, with more exploratory personalities producing more eggs. Thrips experience had the strongest impact across measured traits and thrips-experienced personality types were linked to individual foraging niches. Overall, early-life diet experiences induced greater changes in trait expressions at the individual than population level. Our findings highlight that ephemeral personal experiences early in life are important determinants of fine-scale phenotypic structure and diversity within groups, and demonstrate environmental induction of the link between individualized niche use and personality formation.
