If the Church is perceived as a moral institution, then this institution should play a greater role in fighting corruption. However, the facts show the opposite which until now Papua is included in the list of the top ten most corrupt provinces, even though more than 80% of the population claims to be Christian. This study uses a content analysis approach. Researchers reduced the findings based on four levels categories, namely the equivalent word category, cognitive, affective, and conative. The results of this study indicate that the attention of church leaders to corruption issues is not a top priority.

The same eye served as its own control (before CXL vs after CXL). Eyes were evaluated in terms of best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), refractive error, intraocular pressure, Amsler grid, retinography, fluorescein angiography, autofluorescence, and spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) prior to CXL and 7 and 30 days after treatment. Multifocal electroretinography (mfERG) was recorded prior to and 7 days after CXL.Results: Mean (SD) BCVA by logMAR chart was 0.47 (±0.12) pre-CXL, 0.55 (±0.15) 7 days post-CXL (P=0.57), and 0.46 (±0.10) 30 days post-CXL (P=0.87). Mean (SD) SD-OCT central macular thickness (µm) was 253.62 (±20.9) pre-CXL, 260.5 (±18.7) 7 days post-CXL (P=0.48), and 256.44 (±21.6) 30 days post-CXL (P=0.69). In 12 eyes, mfERG revealed a statistically significant increase (P=0.0353) in P1 latency (ms) of ring four from the pre-CXL period (39.45±2.05) to 7 days post-CXL (41.04±1.28) period. Regression analysis showed that the increase in P1 latency was correlated with the increase in central macular thickness (P=0.027). Furthermore, nine patients experienced a significant decrease in P1 amplitudes of rings 1 (P=0.0014), 2 (P=0.0029), 3 (P=0.0037), 4 (P=0.0014), and 5 (P=0.0012) from pre-CXL to 7 days post-CXL.Conclusion: In this pilot study, most of the patients exhibited slight changes in their mfERG parameters and OCT thickness, despite a lack of vascular abnormalities observed on fluorescein angiography/autofluorescence imaging, no alteration in BCVA, and no reports of symptoms. These changes could, therefore, be categorized as a mild subclinical effect of the corneal cross-linking procedure. It has become a common understanding that the phenomenon known as globalization very quickly takes over almost all aspects of human life in different parts of the world. The majority of people have realized that they are being affected by globalization so that they are usually more readily and easily adapt to a new community called global village. However, many people are still experiencing cultural shock and lack of self-confident when meeting with people from other external environments. This latter type is usually coming from isolated areas, both physically and mentally. This study aims to explore the questions raised in the community about the effects of globalization and their relationship with the social bonds between indigenous Papuan and migrants outside of Papua. In addition, this study tries to answer the scale of acceptance of indigenous Papuans on the influence of external culture. This research is expected to provide benefits to policy makers in designing social engineering in order to avoid potential open conflicts in the future. This research method was descriptive qualitative. Data was generated from research directly on the ground through in-depth interviews (IDI) and focus group discussions (FGD). This research was conducted in the city of Jayapura. The conclusion of this study consisted of 6 measured categories, namely food / cuisine, style, social lifestyle, language, music and inter-racial marriage, which showed that the exposure to cultural globalization had a positive contribution to the social relations of indigenous Papuans with immigrants. This article represents a brief attempt to recognise and emphasize the validity and the inter-related principles of the natural and social sciences on the one hand and Christian aims and ethics on the other. The topic is examined under several headings: The biblical injunction to man which has a threefold implication: The constant interaction between man and his natural environment;Attitudes and relations towards. self, others, the natural environment and God; A synthesis calling for one harmonious whole out of diverse aspects and aims.

O diagnóstico geralmente é difícil, pois sua apresentação clínica é inespecífica¹ Caso o diagnóstico e o tratamento não sejam realizados precocemente, a evolução fatal é freqüente2,3. Os autores relatam um caso de abscesso esplênico, e enfatizam a terapêutica adotada, que foi exclusivamente clínica, numa patologia onde a conduta praticamente padronizada é a esplenectomia ou drenagem percutânea, ambos acompanhados de antibioticoterapia.

International audience; Le processus d'exclusion ne peut être analysé indépendamment des mécanismes de socialisation professionnelle, parce que le rapport au travail est un élément central de la construction identitaire dans nos sociétés. Dans le cas des espaces ruraux, le problème de l'exclusion est abordé à partir de l'hypothèse que ses manifestations n'y sont pas uniformes et qu'elles ne sont pas réductibles à une simple extension, plus ou moins importante, de phénomènes urbains. Il ne s'agit pas non plus de phénomènes spécifiques qui correspondraient seulement à l'aggravation de situations de pauvreté et de précarité dans les sociétés rurales. Les auteurs complètent et illustrent cette recherche en présentant les résultats d'une étude conduite dans la vallée de la Maurienne.

L'aflatoxine, produit par le champignon Aspergillus flavus (Af), est la mycotoxine la plus courante en Afrique et c'est aussi la plus dangereuse pour la santé humaine. Il en résulte, d'une part, des menaces sur la santé publique du fait d'une forte consommation de l'arachide en Afrique et d'autre part des risques économiques liés aux exigences du commerce international des produits agricoles destinés à la consommation directe. Les deux types de risques sont en synergie car la faiblesse des ressources entraîne une autoconsommation des produits les plus contaminés. Le projet Groundnut-Aflatoxin avait pour objectif d'augmenter les connaissances sur les mécanismes de l'infestation au champ en conditions de sécheresse et de mettre au point une stratégie intégrée de prévention contre l'infestation de l'arachide en pré et en post récolte. La démarche adoptée, étudier deux à trois cultivars (cvs), variétés de référence dans différentes conditions environnementales partiellement ou totalement contrôlées (champ, serre et phytotron) a permis d'obtenir des résultats et à différentes échelles (agronomie, physiologie, biochimie et biologie moléculaire). Les facteurs environnementaux, principalement la sécheresse à la fin du cycle de culture, physiologiques et variétaux conditionnant l'infestation en pré-récolte de l'arachide ont été précisés. La forte relation entre l'adaptation à la sécheresse et la résistance à l'aflatoxine qui est observée sur des séries de génotypes dont les niveaux d'adaptation agronomique sont différents (notamment leur longueur du cycle de culture) n'est plus vérifiée lorsqu'on compare des génotypes de niveau d'adaptation identique. Dans ce cas on observe que la stratégie d'évitement associée à une taille de graines réduite, celle de 55-437, est plus efficace que celle de Fleur 11 qui est généralement plus productive que 55-437 en conditions de sécheresse. Les variétés plus résistantes sont celles qui possèdent un cycle court et de petites graines qui mûrissent vite. Par ailleurs, un protocole permettant de simuler en serre les conditions d'infestation au champ a été mis au point afin d'améliorer les criblages variétaux. Les effets de la sécheresse et de l'infestation du sol par Af sur la composition des membranes cellulaires et la teneur des graines en différents composés notamment lipidiques ont été étudiés. Cette composition évolue de manière différente selon le cv. ce qui laisse supposer une forte implication du métabolisme des acides gras dans les mécanismes de la résistance de l'arachide en pré-récolte Le stress hydrique de fin de cycle a davantage perturbé le métabolisme des lipides du cv. sensible que celui du cv. résistant, particulièrement au niveau des teneurs en AG majeurs C18:1 et C18:2 des graines immatures. La réponse moléculaire des deux cvs de référence à un déficit hydrique croissant a contribué à élucider les mécanismes de résistance en pré-récolte. Les résultats suggèrent que l'arachide possède des mécanismes de protection des cellules contre les dommages provoqués par la sécheresse des tissus. La tolérance à la dessiccation a été définie par la capacité de la plante à limiter les dommages pendant la déshydratation, à maintenir l'intégrité physiologique en période sèche et à mobiliser ensuite les mécanismes de réparation cellulaire lors de la réhydratation. La disponibilité des techniques de transgenèse chez l'arachide rend possible l'intégration de gènes d'intérêt identifiés dans les variétés à améliorer. Des mesures préventives (variétés, itinéraires techniques, etc...) ont été définies pour contrôler la contamination en pre récolte en champ (pre harvest) et après récolte (post harvest). La détermination des phases critiques de contamination de l'arachide par Af et l'aflatoxine au cours de la filière de production de l'arachide a été précisée. L'application des "BPA" (Bonnes Pratiques Agricoles) afin d'obtenir une production d'arachide de qualité est actuellement testé en vrai grandeur (100 ha)

The splenic abscess forms an unusual pathology, found only in 0,14 to 0,7 percent in a series of autopsies. The diagnosis is generally difficult because its clinical presentation is inespecific. When the diagnosis and treatment does not occur at early stages, the evolution is often fatal. Authors report a case of splenic abscess, emphasizing the therapy adapted, wich was exclusively clinical, in a pathology where the most common management is the esplenectomy or percutaneos drainage, both followed by antibiotic therapy.

International audience; A partir d'une matrice portérienne, l'auteur montre qu'il existe, sur le marché des biens alimentaires, quatre groupes stratégiques possibles pour les entreprises : production de masse standardisée basique à coûts maîtrisés (très grandes firmes multinationales, TGFM) ; hypersegmentation par production de masse flexible (TGFM) ; sous-traitance de marques de distributeurs (PME) ; produits de haute qualité spécifique (PME de terroir). Ce dernier groupe stratégique possède de bonnes perspectives de développement en terme de marché potentiel.

Les quatre institutions signataires de cette déclaration poursuivent des objectifs communs dans le domaine de la recherche au service du développement pour un agriculture et une gestion des ressources naturelles durables. Au regard des besoins des pays en développement, ces quatre institutions ont convenu de mettre en avant : l'importance capitale des secteurs de l'agriculture et des ressources naturelles, le rôle du développement des technologies, le besoin de partager et de développer les connaissances au sein de la communauté scientifique, leurs propres capacités d'expertise. A la lumière de ces considérations, et après avoir évalué les perspectives de leur coopération, ces quatre organisations ont résolu de constituer ensemble le consortium européen pour la recherche agricole tropicale (ECART)

International audience; Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) targeting Programmed death-1 (PD-1) have shown their efficacy in advanced MSI/dMMR (microsatellite instability/deficient mismatch repair) tumors. The MSI/dMMR status predicts clinical response to ICI. The promising results evaluating ICI in localized MSI/dMMR tumors in neoadjuvant setting need to be confirmed in MSI/dMMR solid tumors. The aim of the IMHOTEP trial is to assess the efficacy of neoadjuvant anti-PD-1 treatment in MSI/dMMR tumors regarding the pathological complete response rate. Methods: This study is a prospective, multicenter, phase II study including 120 patients with localized MSI/dMMR carcinomas suitable for curative surgery. A single dose of pembrolizumab will be administered before the surgery planned 6 weeks later. Primary objective is to evaluate the efficacy of neoadjuvant pembrolizumab according to pathological complete tumor response. Secondary objectives are to assess safety, recurrence-free survival and overall survival. Ancillary studies will assess molecular and immunological biomarkers predicting response/resistance to ICI. First patient was enrolled in December 2021. Discussion: The IMHOTEP trial will be one of the first clinical trial investigating perioperative ICI in localized MSI/dMMR in a tumor agnostic setting. Assessing neoadjuvant anti-PD-1 is mandatory to improve MSI/dMMR patient's outcomes. The translational program will explore potential biomarker to improve our understanding of immune escape and response in this ICI neoadjuvant setting.

Pharmaceutical compounds are continuously released into the aquatic environment, resulting in their ubiquitous presence in many estuarine and coastal systems. As pharmaceuticals are designed to produce effects at very low concentrations and target specific evolutionary conserved pathways, there are growing concerns over their potential deleterious effects to the environment and specifically to aquatic organisms, namely in early life-stages. In this context, the long-term effects of exposure of juvenile meagre Argyrosomus regius to three different pharmaceuticals were investigated. Fish were exposed to environmental concentrations of one of three major used pharmaceuticals: the antidepressant fluoxetine (0.3 and 3 μg/L for 15 days), the anti-hypertensive propranolol and the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent diclofenac (0.3 and 15 μg/L for 30 days). Pharmaceuticals bioconcentration in fish muscle was examined, along with biomarkers in different tissues related with antioxidant and biotransformation responses (catalase, superoxide dismutase, ethoxyresorufin-O-deethylase and glutathione S-transferase), energetic metabolism (lactate dehydrogenase, isocitrate dehydrogenase and electron transport systemactivities), neurotransmission (acetylcholinesterase activity) and oxidative damage (DNA damage and lipid peroxidation levels). Overall, each pharmaceutical had different potential for bioconcentration in the muscle (FLX N PROP N DCF) and induced different biological responses: fluoxetine was the most toxic compound to juvenile meagre, affecting fish growth, triggering antioxidant defense responses, inhibiting detoxification mechanisms and increasing lipid peroxidation and DNA damage in the liver; propranolol exposure increased DNA damage and decreased aerobic metabolism in fish muscle; and diclofenac showed no potential to bioconcentrate, yet it affected fish metabolism by increasing cellular energy consumption in the muscle and consequently reducing fish net energy budget. The diverse response patterns evidence the need for future research focused on pharmaceuticals with different modes of action and their exposure effects on organismal physiological mechanisms and homeostatic status. Ultimately, the combination of sub-individual and individual responses is key for ecologically relevant assessments of pharmaceutical toxicity. info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

International audience; The past decades have seen growing sanitary events, strongly affecting animal health and thus questioning the classical ways of designing disease management strategies. Moreover, the growing knowledge on pathosystem dynamics, especially when involving wild fauna, and the tendency of official authorities to delegate the implementation of health policies to regional professional actors, raise important issues on how to design disease management strategies with stakeholders. In Corsica, the Aujezsky disease, caused by a virus shared by domestic pigs and wild boars, has been persistent for the past thirty years with a high prevalence, despite the various strategies designed and implemented. After Continental France has been recognized as free of Aujeszky disease in 2008, French authorities in Corsica have been looking for a way to build an efficient management system in order to eradicate this disease. The partial failure of an experimental plan conducted from 2011 to 2013, led researchers from INRA to propose an experimental participative approach to design a new strategy. This communication aims to present the first results of a round of participative workshops, held in 2015, and involving a large diversity of stakeholders (farmers, official services, veterinarians, animal health farmer associations, regional agricultural chambers, hunters, researchers…). These workshops allowed us to build a systemic representation of the Aujeszky disease problem, integrating its different dimensions (technical, biological, organizational, regulations…) and to create an arena where stakeholders involvement is legitimated through knowledge hybridization processes, enhanced by the collective search of solutions.; En las últimas décadas se han registrado crecientes acontecimientos sanitarios que afectan fuertemente a la salud animal y cuestionan así las formas clásicas de diseñar estrategias de manejo de enfermedades. Además, el creciente conocimiento de la dinámica de los patógenos, especialmente cuando se trata de la fauna silvestre, y la tendencia de las autoridades oficiales a delegar la aplicación de las políticas de salud a los actores profesionales regionales, plantean cuestiones importantes sobre cómo incluir las partes interesadas en el diseño de estrategias de gestión de enfermedades. En Córcega, la enfermedad de Aujezsky, causada por un virus compartido por cerdos domésticos y jabalís, ha sido persistente durante los últimos treinta años, con una alta prevalencia, a pesar de las diversas estrategias implementadas. Después de que Francia continental se haya reconocida como libre de la enfermedad de Aujeszky en 2008, las autoridades francesas en Córcega fueron buscando una manera de construir una estrategia eficiente para erradicar esta enfermedad. El fracaso parcial de un plan experimental llevado a cabo de 2011 a 2013, llevó a investigadores del INRA a proponer un enfoque participativo experimental para diseñar una nueva estrategia. Esta comunicación pretende presentar los primeros resultados de una ronda de “workshops” participativos, realizados en 2015, con una gran diversidad de actores (agricultores, servicios oficiales, veterinarios, asociaciones de productores agropecuarios, cámaras agrícolas regionales, cazadores, investigadores...). Estos “workshops” nos permitieron a construir una representación sistémica del problema de la enfermedad de Aujeszky, a través de sus diferentes dimensiones (técnica, biológica, organizativa, normativa...) y crear un espacio donde la participación de las partes interesadas se legitime a través de procesos de hibridación del conocimiento, potenciados por la búsqueda colectiva de soluciones.

European eel (Anguilla anguilla) recruitment has been declining at least since the early 1980s at the scale of its distribution area. Since the population is panmictic, its stock assessment should be carried out on a range-wide basis. However, assessing the overall stock during the continental phase remains difficult given its widespread distribution among heterogeneous and separate river catchments. Hence, it is currently considered by the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) more feasible to use glass eel recruitment data to assess the status of the overall population. In this study, we used Glass Eel Recruitment Estimation Model (GEREM) to estimate annual recruitment (i) at the river catchment level, a scale for which data are available, (ii) at an intermediate scale (6 European regions), and (iii) at a larger scale (Europe). This study provides an estimate of the glass eel recruitment trend through a single index, which gathers all recruitment time-series available at the European scale. Results confirmed an overall recruitment decline to dramatically low levels in 2009 (3.5% of the 1960–1979 recruitment average) and highlighted a more pronounced decline in the North Sea area compared to elsewhere in Europe.

International audience; Globally, streams represent major CO2 emitters, accounting for approximately 70% of the total flux from inland waters. Hence, a proper understanding of carbon dioxide (CO2) uptake and emissions from streams is crucial for accurately estimating aquatic global carbon emissions. However, diurnal dynamics of these fluxes are still not comprehensively quantified, contributing to a high uncertainty in regional and global carbon budgets. Within the EuroRun project, the 1st Collaborative European Freshwater Science Project for Young Researchers, we aimed to assess spatial and seasonal variability of day- and night-time CO2 fluxes of 34 streams across 11 European countries. CO2 fluxes were measured with drifting flux chambers once per season at midday and midnight. The median CO2 fluxes during the day amounted to 1.4 µmol m-2 h-1 (IQR 0.5 to 3.1) and during the night to 2.1 µmol m-2 h-1 (IQR 0.95 to 3.75). The CO2 fluxes during night exceeded those during day by up to eight times. Interestingly, these differences occurred throughout all seasons and showed no latitudinal patterns. Our results highlight the importance of night-time fluxes to accurately assess CO2 fluxes from streams. As most studies are performed during the day, our survey indicates that global carbon budgets are currently underestimating the amount of CO2 released by streams.

International audience; Environmental change often combined with selective harvesting has profound and diverse impacts on marine fish populations. Unlocking the biological consequences of these effects on wild fish is notoriously challenging, especially in highly productive but naturally variable systems with uncertain futures such as Eastern Boundary current systems. Here, we developed otolith increment-based growth chronologies covering half a century (53 years) for a small pelagic fish (Atlantic horse mackerel, Trachurus trachurus) in the northern limb of the Canary current upwelling system. We used increasingly complex mixed-effects models to partition individually resolved growth variation among intrinsic (Age and Age-at-capture) and extrinsic (biotic and abiotic factors) sources in four complementary data sets: a general population chronology, and three chronologies derived from age groups that reflect ontogenetic habitat shifts. First, we investigated the timing and scale of growth phase shifts and assessed the effects of extrinsic factors on inter-annual growth variation. Second, we quantified among and within cohort growth variability over time. Our results provided strong evidence for inter-annual SST and primary productivity variation impacting on Atlantic horse mackerel growth. We also identified phase shifts in growth that point to larger ecosystem-wide changes (regime shifts), potentially driven by large-scale climatic indices, such as North Atlantic Oscillation and East Atlantic pattern. Cohort-dependent growth effects likely reflect persistent environmental influences and density dependence. Further, we found evidence for carryover effects in growth whereby a poor start in life tended to persist despite compensatory growth being observed in some individuals. We show how population productivity can be impacted by multiple, interacting environmental and biotic factors leading to potential ecosystem regime shifts. Such information is key to understand recruitment dynamics and population persistence, and will have important implications for fisheries management and to those seeking to understand the effects of large-scale climate change on marine productivity.

International audience; Climate change, particularly ocean warming, is thought to benefit the spread of invasive species due to their increased tolerance to temperature fluctuations as compared to native species. The physiological tolerance of invasive species as a potential mechanism driving invasion success is therefore a subject that merits further study. Specifically, we need to adequately evaluate the potential of species invasions under changing environmental conditions, so that adequate preventive measures can be taken to minimize any impacts on coastal ecosystems. Here, we experimentally evaluated the physiological responses of a recent invader in the Southern Atlantic, the shrimp Lysmata lipkei, under a warming ocean scenario. Adult shrimps were collected from rocky shores in southeastern Brazil and subjected to experimental trials under a control and a + 3 °C scenario. Molecular biomarkers (in gills and muscle), upper thermal limits, acclimation response ratios, thermal safety margins, mortality rates, estimates of body condition and energy reserves were measured over 1 month. Results suggest that higher temperatures elicit physiological adjustments at the molecular level, underpinning a high thermal tolerance. In addition, results indicated substantial acclimation capacity, with no evidence of decreased performance under an ocean-warming scenario. Thermal safety margins were low for shrimp from intertidal rock pools but high for shrimp from subtidal habitats. We conclude that the thermal tolerance of this shrimp species may favor its ongoing invasion along the Southwestern Atlantic Ocean, mainly in subtidal habitats, both under present and future thermal conditions.

International audience; The nutritional value and developmental variations of cultured fish were assessed for European seabass and gilthead seabream specimens reared in semi-intensive aquaculture systems in two Portuguese estuaries. Quantification of total protein and of carbohydrate and fatty acid profiles was carried out to determine differences between the composition of the same species in two development stages reared in four distinct farms. A significant influence of the rearing site on the nutritional composition of the same species was found for adult European seabass regarding saturated, monounsaturated and highly unsaturated fatty acids contents, both between estuaries and within each estuary. In gilthead seabream, saturated, monounsaturated, polyunsaturated and highly unsaturated fatty acids content were also influenced by the rearing site. Carbohydrate analysis showed a significant influence of the rearing site on free sugar and polysaccharide content in fish of both species, and there was no influence on the species' protein content. Differences in fatty acid and carbohydrate content among juvenile and adult stages were found for all the groups studied. The present study supported the existing evidence that semi-intensive rearing systems are subjected to the variability of extrinsic factors in the rearing sites, influencing the nutritional value of the same species, namely regarding lipid and carbohydrate profiles, depending on the production site. From a consumer's perspective, such differences may come as a disadvantage of the rearing method, as it is expected for a product to provide equal nutritional properties and benefits regardless its origin, especially within the same country.

International audience; Global warming is leading to increases in tropical storms ́frequency and intensity, allowing fragmentation of reef-forming coral species, but also to coral bleaching and mortality. The first level of organismś response to an environmental perturbation occurs at the cellular level. This study investigated the long-term oxidative stress on fragments of nine Indo-Pacific reef-forming coral species exposed for 60 days to increasing temperatures (30 °C and 32 °C) and compared results with control temperature (26 °C). Coral overall condition (appearance), lipid peroxidation (LPO), catalase activity (CAT), and glutathione S-transferase (GST) were assessed. The species Turbinaria reniformis, Galaxea fascicularis, and Psammocora contigua were the most resistant to heat stress, presenting no oxidative damage at 30 °C. Unlike G. fasciularis, both T. reniformis and P. contigua showed no evidence of oxidative damage at 32 °C. All remaining species ́fragments died at 32 °C. Stylophora pistillata and Pocillopora damicornis were the most susceptible species to heat stress, not resisting at 30 °C.
