Cilj ovog rada je bio otkrivanje županija u Hrvatskoj visokog rizika od zaraze koronavirusom u prvoj polovini 2021. godine uz pomoć metoda prostorne statistike. U svrhu procjene rizika od zaraze koristimo standardizirani omjer smrtnosti, te tri različita empirijska Bayesova procjenitelja. Za procjenu smrtnost nam je poslužila stopa smrtnosti. Takoder, promatramo utjecaj raznih kovarijabli na mortaitet. Dolazimo do sljedećeg zaključka. Što se tiče morbiditeta, najveći rizik ima Primorsko-Goranska županija, a slijede je Međimurska i Varaždinska. Što se tiče mortaliteta, najveći rizik ima Karlovačka županija, a slijede Varaždinska, Grad Zagreb, Ličko-Senjeska i Osječko-Baranjska. Vodeći se dobnom podjelom stanovništva, pokušali smo pokazati da je populacija starijih od 60 statistički značajna varijabla za povećan mortalitet od korone, ali nismo uspjeli postići konvergenciju Markovljevog lanca. Nakon toga smo prikazali prostornu zagađenost zraka u prvoj polovici 2021. godine. Model kojeg smo proveli ukazao je na statističku značajnost uz konvergenciju Markovljevog lanca. U županijama gdje je zagađenost zraka bila najveća, ponalazimo istog glavnog zagadivača, PM2.5. Očito, kako te sitne čestice PM2.5 uzrokuju probleme u dišnom sustavu, uz kombinaciju sa koronavirusom dolazi do više smrtnih slučajeva. The aim of this work was to detect counties in Croatia with a high risk of infection with the coronavirus in the first half of 2021 with the help of spatial statistics methods. For the purpose of assessing the risk of infection, we use the standardized mortality ratio and three different empirical Bayesian estimators. We used the death rate to estimate mortality. We also observe the influence of various covariables on mortality. We come to the following conclusion. In terms of morbidity, Primorsko-Goranska County has the highest risk, followed by Međimurje and Varaždin. As for mortality, Karlovac County has the highest risk, followed by Varaždin County, the City of Zagreb, Ličko-Senjeska and Osječko-Baranjska. Guided by the age distribution of the population, we tried to show that the population over 60 is a statistically significant variable for increased mortality from corona, but we failed to achieve the convergence of the Markov chain. After that, we presented spatial air pollution in the first half of 2021. The model we implemented indicated statistical significance with the convergence of the Markov chain. In counties where air pollution was the highest, we find the same main pollutant, PM2.5. Obviously, as these tiny PM2.5 particles cause problems in the respiratory system, in combination with the coronavirus, more deaths occur.

Dijkstra algoritam i Bellman-Ford algoritam su algoritmi koji se koriste za pronalaženje najkraćeg puta u težinskom grafu. Dijkstra algoritam djeluje na pozitivnim težinama bridova i koristi se za pronalaženje najkraćeg puta od jednog početnog vrha do svih ostalih vrhova u grafu. Bellman-Ford algoritam, s druge strane, može se koristiti čak i kada postoje negativne težine bridova, ali ima složenost vremena veću od Dijkstra algoritma. Ford-Fulkerson algoritam koristi se za pronalaženje maksimalnog mrežnog protoka, a temelji se na uvećavajućim putevima. Ovaj algoritam iterativno pronalazi uvećavajuće puteve i uvećava protok dok ne postigne maksimalni protok. Dijkstra’s algorithm works with positive edge weights and is used to find the shortest path from a single source node to all other nodes in the graph. On the other hand, the Bellman-Ford algorithm can handle graphs with negative edge weights but has a higher time complexity compared to Dijkstra’s algorithm. The Ford-Fulkerson algorithm is used to find the maximum flow in a network and is based on augmenting paths. This algorithm iteratively finds augmenting paths and increases the flow until it reaches the maximum flow. All algorithms are important tools for solving various graph and optimization problems.

Ovaj rad istražuje ključni pojam konveksnih funkcija u matematičkoj analizi i optimizaciji, s fokusom na Hermitovu-Hadamardovu nejednakost. Cilj rada je proučiti generalizacije Hermite-Hadamardove nejednakosti, procijeniti njihovu preciznost i promjene rezultata u kontekstu različitih vrsta konveksnosti. Također, želi se proširiti primjenjivost Hermitove-Hadamardove nejednakosti na različite klase konveksnih funkcija i istražiti kako različite vrste konveksnosti utječu na tu nejednakost., This paper explores the key notion of convex functions in mathematical analysis and optimization, with a focus on the Hermit-Hadamard inequality. The aim of the paper is to study the generalizations of the Hermit-Hadamard inequality, evaluate their precision and changes in results in the context of different types of convexity. Additionally, it aims to extend the applicability of the Hermit-Hadamard inequality to various classes of convex functions and investigate how different types of convexity influence this inequality.

We study nonlinear fluid-rigid body interaction problems involving the 3D Navier-Stokes equations for fluid flow and ordinary differential equations for rigid body motion. The fluid and rigid body together occupy a bounded and fixed domain \(\Omega\). We examine two initial-boundary value problems: one with incompressible flow and no-slip boundary conditions, and another with compressible flow and inhomogeneous boundary conditions on the boundary \(\partial \Omega\). In both cases, we assume that the rigid body does not touch the boundary \(\partial \Omega\). In this thesis, we explore three main topics across three chapters. The first two topics deal with the incompressible fluid-rigid body interaction problem. Our goal is to extend the well-known results of weak-strong uniqueness and regularity for the Navier-Stokes equations to the considered fluid-rigid body system. We prove the uniqueness of the weak solution, which satisfies the Prodi-Serrin \(L^r – L^s\) condition, within a broader class of Leray-Hopf weak solutions. Additionally, we establish that the Prodi-Serrin condition implies the \(L_t^p W_x^{2,p}\cap W_t^{1,p}L_x^p \) regularity for the fluid velocity and the \(L_t^p W_x^{1,p}\) regularity for the fluid pressure. Moreover, we show that the solutions are \(C^\infty\) if we additionally assume that the acceleration of the rigid body is bounded almost everywhere in time. The final chapter focuses on the motion of a rigid body in a compressible, isentropic, viscous fluid. We consider a scenario where a time-independent fluid velocity is prescribed on the entire boundary \(\partial \Omega\), along with a time-independent fluid density on the inflow boundary of \(\Omega\). Our objective is to establish the existence of a global-in-time weak solution to the given problem on a time interval where the rigid body does not touch the boundary \(\partial \Omega\). Proučavamo nelinearne probleme interakcije fluida i strukture u kojima je tok fluida dan 3D Navier-Stokesovim jednadžbama, dok je struktura kruto tijelo čije je gibanje određeno sustavom običnih diferencijalnih jednadžbi koje opisuju očuvanje linearnog i kutnog momenta. Jednadžbe su u potpunosti povezane preko dinamičkih i kinematičkih uvjeta spajanja. Nadalje, pretpostavljamo da fluid i kruto tijelo zajedno zauzimaju ograničeno i fiksno područje \(\Omega\). Razmatramo dvije različite inicijalno-rubne zadaće. U prvom slučaju, tok fluida je zadan inkompresibilnim Navier-Stokesovim jednadžbama, pri čemu je na granici domene \(\Omega\) postavljen homogeni rubni uvjet. U drugom slučaju, tok fluida određuju kompresibilne Navier-Stokesove jednadžbe, s nehomogenim rubnim uvjetima na granici \(\Omega\). Također, u oba slučaja pretpostavljamo da kruto tijelo ne dodiruje rub \(\partial \Omega\). U disertaciji istražujemo tri različite teme predstavljene kroz tri poglavlja. Prva tema odnosi se na pitanje jedinstvenosti slabog rješenja problema interakcije inkompresiblinog fluida i krutog tijela. Naš cilj je proširiti poznati rezultat slabo-jake jedinstvenosti za Navier-Stokesove jednadžbe na promatrani sustav fluid-kruto tijelo. Konkretno, dokazujemo da je slabo rješenje koje zadovoljava Prodi-Serrinov \(L^r – L^s\)uvjet jedinstveno unutar šire klase Leray-Hopfovih slabih rješenja. U ovom poglavlju uzimamo u obzir dvije različite vrste kinematičkih uvjeta povezivanja: uvjet bez klizanja (no-slip) i uvjet klizanja (slip), dok u nastavku pretpostavljamo uvjet bez klizanja. Druga tema je regularnost slabog rješenja iste inicijalno-rubne zadaće. Cilj nam je poopćiti klasični rezultat o regularnosti za 3D inkompresibilne Navier-Stokesove jednadžbe, koji kaže da je slabo rješenje koje zadovoljava Prodi-Serrinov \(L^r – L^s\)uvjet glatko. Dokazujemo da Prodi-Serrinov uvjet za sustav fluid-kruto tijelo implicira \(L_t^p W_x^{2,p}\cap W_t^{1,p}L_x^p \) regularnost za brzinu fluida i \(L_t^p W_x^{1,p}\) regularnost za tlak fluida. Nadalje, pokazujemo da su rješenja \(C^\infty\) ako dodatno pretpostavimo ograničenost akceleracije krutog tijela gotovo svugdje u vremenskoj varijabli. Zadnje poglavlje posvećeno je proučavanju gibanja krutog tijela uronjenog u kompresibilni, izentropski, viskozni fluid. Na rubu domene \(\Omega\) postavljamo vremenski neovisnu brzinu fluida na cijeloj granici \(\partial \Omega\) i vremenski neovisnu gustoću fluida na dijelu ruba na kojim fluid utječe u područje \(\Omega\). Naš cilj je dokazati postojanje slabog rješenja dane zadaće na intervalu na kojem kruto tijelo ne dodiruje rub \(\partial \Omega\).

Budući da je igra izmijenjena uz dodatak sličica i primjenu matematike u svakodnevnici, potrebno je provesti testiranje kako bi se vidjelo sadašnje stanje igrice. S obzirom na to da se igra Matoboj pokazala kao vrlo koristan alat za razvoj brojnih aspekata kod učenika, u ovom će radu biti prikazano testiranje uz povratne informacije o samoj igri., Playing is a natural way for children to learn. It is a process through which they explore, develop creativity and motivation. By playing, the child connects current knowledge with new concepts and encounters new situations. One of the games that is very useful for learning new concepts as well as for connecting already learned material is the Mathduel game. Since the game has been modified with the addition of thumbnails and the application of mathematics in everyday life, it is necessary to conduct testing to see the current state of the game. Given that the Mathduel game has proven to be a very useful tool for the development of numerous aspects in students, this paper will present testing with feedback on the game itself.

Cilj ovog rada je detaljno pojasniti nastavnu tehniku razrednog glasanja. Sve njene komponente su pojedinačno objašnjene. Niz čimenika utječe na kvalitetu same provedbe glasanja, kao što su vrednovanje, upotreba tehnologije, duljina trajanja i u koliko krugova se glasa. Nakon detaljne obrade svih čimbenika, zaključak je da je tehnika efikasna i primjenjiva na satu matematike, te da je povratna informacija učenika pozitivna. U radu je takoder predočeno nekoliko skupina pitanja iz različitih područja matematike koja se mogu primjeniti u nastavi., The aim of this paper is to explain in detail the teaching technique known as class voting. All its components are explained individually. A number of factors affect the quality of the voting itself, such as evaluation, use of technology, length of time and number of voting rounds. After a detailed analysis of all factors, the conclusion is that the technique is efficient and applicable in the mathematics class, and that the feedback from the students is positive. The paper also presents several groups of questions from different areas of mathematics that can be applied in class.

Teorija grafova je danas iznimno popularna grana matematike sa širokim primjenama. Najčešće primjene su u rješavanju problema pronalaska najkraćih puteva kako bi se minimizirali razni troškovi pa je korisno pogledati različite algoritme pretrage koje imamo u stablima. Najpoznatiji algoritmi su Jarnik-Prim algoritam i Boruvka-Kruskal kojima je jedina razlika u redoslijedu odabira bridova (”puteva”), a kao rezultat daju jednako stablo., Graph theory is lately an extremely popular branch of mathematics with wide applications. The most common applications are in solving problems of finding the shortest paths to minimize various costs, so it is useful to look and understand different types of search algorithms that are used in trees. The most famous algorithms are Jarnik-Prim algorithm and Boruvka-Kruskal. The only difference between these two is in the order selection of edges (”paths“) but the result is the same tree in both cases.

Cilj ovog rada je prikazati kako se s godinama obrazovanja učenika proširuje njihovo znanje o obujmu. Istražen je koncept i tip zadataka koji se proteže kroz školovanje učenika, iz njihovih udžbenika. Obrazovanje o obujmu kreće sa obradom obujma tekućine, nakon toga uči se o obujmu tijela i to znanje se primjenjuje prvo na kocki i kvadru, a nakon toga na svim uspravnim geometrijskim tijelima. Zatim se uči o obujmu geometrijskih tijela primjenjujući pri tome načelo Cavalierijev princip. Osim na geometrijskim tijelima, obujam se tada primjenjuje i na rotacijskim tijelima., This paper aims to show how the student’s knowledge of the volume expands with the years of education. The concept and type of tasks that extend throughout the education of students were investigated from students’ textbooks. Education about volume starts with processing the volume of a liquid after which you learn about the volume of solids and this knowledge is applied first to the cube and cuboid and then to all right geometric solids. Then they learn about the volume of geometric solids by applying Cavalieri’s principle. In addition to geometric solids, the volume is also applied to solids of revolution.

Polinom kao jedan od najfundamentalnijih pojmova u gotovo svim područjima matematike, ima istaknutu ulogu u predtercijarnom i tercijarnom matematičkom obrazovanju. Upravo to ga kvalificira da bude idealan objekt institucijskog i epistemološkog istraživanja o didaktičkim procesima. Potreba za takvim istraživanjem inducirana je: 1. na globalnoj razini, malobrojnim istraživanjima u kojima je polinom glavni objekt istraživanja te neodgovorenim pitanjima o razlozima različitog načina definiranja pojma polinoma u predtercijarnom obrazovanju [13,221]; 2. na lokalnoj razini, recentnim promjenama u znanju za podučavanje u predtercijarnom obrazovanju i mogućim efektima tih promjena na tercijarno obrazovanje. Odabrani teorijski okvir, Antropološka teorija didaktike (ATD), nudi alate koji omogućavaju istraživanje epistemoloških i institucijskih aspekata znanja za podučavanje. Stoga se alatima ATD-a analizira tranzicija prema studiju matematike, kroz studij, kao i inverzna tranzicija, ona koju nastavnici matematike prolaze kada počinju podučavati matematiku u predtercijarnom obrazovanju. Dakle, analizira se dvostruki Kleinov prekid i tranzicija kroz studij matematike s obzirom na pojam polinoma. Pojam matematičke prakseologije koristi se za modeliranje i analiziranje matematičkih sadržaja i aktivnosti. Diseminacija matematičkih prakseologija analizira se i modelira pojmom didaktičke prakseologije. Didaktička transpozicija, koja je istodobno alat i metodologija, omogućava analiziranje znanja unutar obrazovnih institucija u odnosu na znanje discipline matematike. Prvo se analiziraju geneza i razvoj pojma polinoma u disciplini matematike, tj. razvoj znanja o pojmu polinoma koja epistemološki legitimiraju znanja koja se podučavaju u predtercijarnim i tercijarnim obrazovnim institucijama. Uzima se u obzir i reforma Nove matematike koja je inducirana promjenom u disciplini matematike. Posebno se istražuje realizacije reforme u hrvatskom gimnazijskom obrazovnom sustavu, kao i njeni rudimenti i mogući efekti na aktualni obrazovni sustav. Dokumenti koji propisuju znanje za podučavanje u hrvatskom predtercijarnom obrazovanju podvrgnuti su prakseološkoj analizi, kao i najkorišteniji gimnazijski udžbenici u zadnjih dvadesetak godina, kako bi se dobio uvid u sekundarno-tercijarnu tranziciju (prvi Kleinov prekid) od kad je uveden Bolonjski proces. S obzirom na pojam polinoma, analizira se obrazovanje matematičara i nastavnika matematike na Prirodoslovno-matematičkom fakultetu Sveučilišta u Splitu. Promatra se i mogući efekti drugog Kleinov prekida na buduće nastavnike matematike. The polynomial, as one of the most fundamental notions in almost all areas of mathematics, has a prominent role in pre-tertiary and tertiary mathematics education. That qualifies it to be an ideal object of institutional and epistemological research on didactic processes. The need for such research was induced by: 1. at the global level, the few studies in which the polynomial is the main object of research, and the unanswered questions about the reasons for the different ways of defining the notion of a polynomial in pre-tertiary education [13,221]; 2. at the local level, recent changes in knowledge for teaching in Croatian pre-tertiary mathematics education and the possible effects of these changes on university mathematics education. The selected theoretical framework, the Anthropological Theory of the Didactic (ATD), offers tools that enable the investigation of epistemological and institutional aspects of knowledge for teaching. Therefore, ATD tools are used to analyse the transition towards the study of mathematics, through the study, as well as the inverse transition, the one that mathematics teachers go through when they start teaching mathematics in pre-tertiary education. Thus, Klein’s double discontinuity, and transition through the study of mathematics, are analysed concerning the notion of a polynomial. A mathematical praxeology is a tool that is used for modelling and analysing mathematical contents and activities. The dissemination of mathematical praxeologies is analysed and modelled by the notion of a didactic praxeology. A didactic transposition, which is both a tool and a methodology, enables the analysis of knowledge within educational institutions concerning the knowledge of the discipline of mathematics. First, the genesis and development of the notion of a polynomial in the discipline of mathematics are analysed, i.e. the development of the knowledge about the notion of a polynomial that epistemologically legitimises the knowledge taught in pre-tertiary and tertiary educational institutions. The reform of New Mathematics, which was induced by a change in the discipline of mathematics, is also taken into account. The implementation of the reform in the Croatian high school education system is especially investigated, as well as its rudiments and possible effects on the current education system. Documents prescribing knowledge for teaching in Croatian pre-tertiary education were subjected to praxeological analysis, as well as the most used secondary textbooks in the last twenty years, as would gain an insight into the secondary-tertiary transition (Klein’s first discontinuity) since the Bologna process was introduced. The education of mathematicians and mathematics teachers at the Faculty of Science, University of Split is analysed considering the notion of a polynomial. The possible effects of Klein’s second discontinuity on prospective pre-tertiary mathematics teachers are also observed.

Ukratko, cilj ovog rada je proučavanje taxicab geometrije odnosno, preciznije, analiziranje kako razni geometrijski pojmovi izgledaju u taxicab geometriji. Glavni fokus je na razlikama između euklidske i taxicab geometrije. Započinjemo uvođenjem taxicab udaljenosti i uspoređivanjem s euklidskom udaljenosti. Zatim, obrađujemo različite slučajeve simetrale dužine u taxicab geometriji. Pokazujemo i razliku kruga i kružnice u euklidskoj i taxicab geometriji. Nakon toga prelazimo na elipse, hiperbole i parabole u euklidskoj i taxicab geometriji te na opisanu i upisanu kružnicu trokuta u taxicab geometriji. Konačno, bavimo se problemom prezentacije koncepta taxicab geometrije u okviru osnovnoškolske nastave matematike. In short, the goal of this thesis is to study taxicab geometry, i.e., to analyze how various geometric objects look in taxicab geometry. The main focus is on the differences between Euclidean and taxicab geometry. We start by introducing the taxicab distance and comparing it with the Euclidean distance. Next, we consider various cases of segment bisectors in taxicab geometry. We also show the differences between circles in Euclidean and taxicab geometry. Next, we shift to ellipses, hyperbolas and parabolas in Euclidean and taxicab geometry and to the incircle and circumcircle of a triangle. Finally, we deal with the problem of presenting the concept of taxicab geometry in elementary school mathematics.

U ovom radu su predstavljeni algoritmi za množenje s naglaskom na složenost tih algoritama. Kroz stoljeća se pretpostavljalo da su svi algoritmi za množenje prirodnih brojeva složenosti \(O(n^2)\), kao na primjer: egipatski algoritam, naivni (školski) algoritam i algoritam ruskog seljaka. Karatsuba je svojim otkrićem sredinom 60-tih godina 20. stoljeća otkrio brži algoritam složenosti \(O(n^{1.58})\) što je pokrenulo istraživanja na tom području te su za manje od 10 godina Schoenhage i Strassen otkrili algoritam složenosti \(O(n \cdot \log{n} \cdot \log{(\log{n}}))\). Harvey i van der Hoeven su 2019. godine otkrili algoritam složenosti \(O(n\cdot \log{n})\) koji je trenutno najbrži algoritam i predstavlja trenutni vrhunac napretka u tom području In this thesis we present algorithms for integer multiplication with the focus on their complexity. Through centuries it was believed that the best complexity was \(O(n^2)\), i.e. Egyptian multiplication, naive (schoolbook) multiplication and the Russian peasant multiplication algorithm. Karatsuba in the mid 1960’s discovered an algorithm whose complexity is \(O(n^{1.58})\) which started lots of research in this field, and in less than 10 years Schoenhage and Strassen invented an algorithm whose complexity is \(O(n \cdot \log{n} \cdot \log{(\log{n}}))\). In the year 2019. Harvey and der Hoeven invented an algorithm whose complexity is \(O(n\cdot \log{n})\) which is currently the fastest algorithm for integer multiplication and represents the current pinnacle of progress in the field.

Cilj ovoga rada je opisati kodiranja koja ispravljaju greške. U prvom poglavlju su opisani osnovni pojmovi kod kodiranja koja ispravljaju greške i dan je jedan jednostavni primjer kodiranja. U drugom poglavlju se opisuje Hammingov (7, 4) kod i definira se Hammingova udaljenost. U trećem poglavlju opisuju se blok kodovi, tj. kodovi u kojima se podatci dijele na blokove. Također je dana gornja granica na broj kodnih riječi. Opisani su savršeni kodovi i definiran pojam ekvivalentnosti kodova. Opisan je i Hammingov (8, 4) kod koji detektira dvije pogreške u prijenosu poruke. U četvrtom poglavlju su opisani linearni kodovi i dana je definicija dviju važnih matrica: generirajuće matrice i matrice provjere pariteta. Opisano je kako pomoću njih dobiti enkodiranu riječ, odnosno kako provjeriti pripada li riječ kodu. U istom poglavlju su opisane i neke metode dekodiranja poruke. U petom poglavlju se formaliziraju Hammingovi kodovi. Opisani su i simpleks kodovi te Hadamardovi kodovi. The goal of this paper is to describe error-correcting codes. In the first chapter, the basic concepts of error-correcting codes are described and a simple example is given. In the second chapter, the Hamming (7, 4) code is described and the Hamming distance is defined. In the third chapter, block codes are described, i.e. codes in which data is divided into blocks. In the same chapter, the upper limit for the number of codewords is given. Perfect codes are described and the concept of code equivalence is defined. The Hamming (8, 4) code, which detects two errors in message transmission is described. In the fourth chapter, linear codes are described and two important matrices are defined: generator matrix and parity check matrix. It is described how to use them to encode a word and how to check whether the word belongs to the code. In the same chapter, some methods of message decoding are described. In the fifth chapter, Hamming codes are formalized. Simplex codes and Hadamard codes are also described.

U svijetu gdje smo svi povezani svakim danom sve više i više, nameće se zaključak da je proučavanje mreža vrlo bitan zadatak. Jedan od aspekata proučavanja mreža je određivanje mjera centralnosti koje pronalazi svakojake primjene. Za mjere centralnosti ne postoji jedna jedinstvena vijednost koja će nam reći koji je vrh najbitniji u mreži, nego postoji više različitih metoda koje možemo koristiti. Svaka metoda ima svoje karakteristike te na temelju njih odabiremo metodu koja nam najviše odgovare te zatim proučavamo dobivene rezultate. Predstavili smo četiri metode mjerenja centralnosti, to su: Page Rank, podgrafovska centralnost, Totalna komunikativnost i Katzova centralnost. Za svaku metodu naveli smo ideju iza nje, osnovne karakteristike, kako ju računamo te njene nedostatke. Za kraj, primjenili smo navedene metode na primjeru Marvelovog svijeta te dobili smislene rezultate. In a world where we are connected with each other more and more by each day, the conclusion is that studying networks is a very important task. One of the aspects of studying networks is determining measures of centrality that find all kinds of applications in real world use-cases. For measures of centrality there does not exist one unique value that will tell us which vertex is the most important in the network, rather there are several different methods that we can use. Each method has its own characteristics and based on them we choose the method that suits us best and then we study the results obtained. We have presented four methods of measuring centrality, namely: Page rank, subgraph centrality, total subgraph communicability and Katz’s centrality. For each method we stated general ideas behind them, basic characteristics, how it’s calculated and their shortcomings. Finally, we applied mentioned methods to example of the Marvel world and got meaningful results.

Cilj ovog diplomskog rada bio je predstaviti prostorno-vremenske baze podataka. Prostorno-vremenske baze podataka pojavljuju se u geografskim, meteorološkim i drugim sličnim informacijskim sustavima. Riječ je o bazama gdje su podacima pridružene prostorne i vremenske odrednice. Kroz prvo poglavlje detaljno su opisane prostorne i vremenske baze podataka. Zatim su u sljedećem poglavlju predstavljene prostorno-vremenske baze podataka te primjena istih. U trećem poglavlju predstavljen je FlexTrack sustav koji uvodi novi upitni jezik za postavljanje upita na prostorno-vremenskoj bazi podataka. U konačnici je implementirana prostorno-vremenska baza podataka koja predstavlja kretanje taksi vozila, a uz navedenu bazu podataka izrađeno je i programsko rješenje koje vizualizira jednu taksi vožnju The aim of this thesis is to present spatio-temporal databases. Spatio-temporal databases appear in geographic, meteorological and other similar information systems. These are databases where spatial and temporal determinants are attached to the data. In the first chapter, spatial and temporal databases are described in detail. Then, in the next chapter, spatio-temporal databases and their application are presented. In the third chapter, the FlexTrack system is presented, which introduces a new query language for querying the spatio-temporal database. Finally, a spatio-temporal database representing the movement of taxis was implemented. In addition to the database mentioned, a software solution was created to view a single taxi ride.

Tematika ovog rada je klasifikacija proteina u proteinsku familiju katepsina na temelju karakterističnih podnizova aminokiselina (motiva) i međusobnog uspoređivnja. Cilj je izbaciti što više lažno pozitivnih i pri tome zadržati stvarno pozitivne motive iz outputa pretraživača motiva. Problematika rada svodi se na prelazak u višedimenzionalni vektorski prostor prevođenjem aminokiselina u numeričke vektore koji predstavljaju određena obilježja tih aminokiselina. Pronalazi se kugla koja sadrži najviše motiva, uključujući i motiv katepsina. Prvo se računa benchmark za uspješnost modela, zatim se razvija model procjenjivanjem radijusa kugle i prolaskom po svim točkama za određivanje njezinog središta. Središte se pomiče u težište točaka u kugli i taj postupak se ponavlja do kada se središte ne stabilizira. Na kraju se model validira i uspoređuje s benchmarkom. U pet proteoma napravljena je klasifikacija katepsina. Rezultati pokazuju da model uspješno i brzo izbacuje lažne pozitivce, a da pritom zadrži većinu pravih pozitivaca neovisno o veličini početnog uzorka. The subject of this thesis is classification of proteins into the Cathepsin protein family based on characteristic sequences of amino acids (motifs) and pairwise comparison. The goal is to reduce the number of false positives and keep true positive motifs from the output of a motif scanner. The problem comes down to transitioning into multidimensional vector space by interpreting amino acids as numeric vectors which represent certain characteristics of those amino acids. A ball containing most motifs is found, including the Cathepsin motif. Firstly, a benchmark for the performance of the model is calculated, then the model is being developed by estimating the expected radius and by optimizing the center of the ball. At the end, the model is being validated and the performance is compared to the benchmark. The classification of Cathepsins is made in five proteoms. The results show that the fast model successfully decreases the number of false positive motifs but manages to keep true positives regardless of the size of the initial sample.

U ovom radu opisane su vremenske složenosti nekih robusnih diskretnih problema optimizacije. Nakon navođenja osnovnih pojmova, problema i definicija ispituju se robusne varijante problema najkraćeg puta, najmanjeg razapinjućeg stabla i pakiranja naprtnjače. Uvode se pojmovi klasa P i NP te P-teških i NP-teških problema. Proučavaju se navedeni problemi s određenim ograničenjima u usporedbi sa svojim konvencionalnim varijantama. Definira se slojevita mreža i pokazuje se da su apsolutni i devijacijski robusni problemi najkraćeg puta slabo NP-teški čak i u slojevitim mrežama širine dva i sa samo dva scenarija. Nakon dokazivanja tih tvrdnji dani su i algoritmi koji rješavaju probleme na slojevitim mrežama u pseudo-polinomnom vremenu. Problemi su jako NP-teški kada broj scenarija nije ograničen. Nakon što su te tvrdnje dokazane, u slijede ćem poglavlju se uvodi pojam rešetkastog grafa. Dokazuje se je apsolutni problem najmanjeg razapinjućeg stabla slabo NP-težak na poprilično restringiranom rešetkastom grafu sa samo dva scenarija. Dan je algoritam koji rješava problem na rešetkastom grafu u pseudo-polinomnom vremenu. Zatim se dokazuje da je apsolutni problem najmanjeg razapinju ćeg stabla jako NP-težak kada je broj scenarija neograničen. Nadalje, dokazuje se da je apsolutni robusni problem naprtnjače jako NP-težak na neograničenom broju scenarija i dan je pripadajući algoritam. Zadnje poglavlje sadrži konkretnu implementaciju algoritma koji rješava apsolutni robusni problem najkraćeg puta u jeziku Ruby s pripadajućim primjerima. In this paper, the time complexities of some robust discrete optimization problems are described. After stating the basic concepts, problems and definitions, robust variants of the shortest path, smallest spanning tree and knapsack packing problems are examined. The concepts of classes P and NP as well as P-hard and NP-hard problems are introduced. The aforementioned problems are studied with certain limitations compared to their conventional variants. A layered network is defined and it is shown that the absolute robust and robust deviation shortest path problems are weakly NP-hard even in layered networks of width two and with only two scenarios. After proving these statements, algorithms for the layered network problem for each are given. These problems are strongly NP-hard when the number of scenarios is not limited. After these claims have been proven, the next chapter introduces the concept of a grid graph. The absolute minimum spanning tree problem is proven to be weakly NP-hard on a fairly restricted grid graph with only two scenarios. An algorithm is given that solves the problem in pseudo-polynomial time for a grid graph and a bounded number of scenarios. Then it is proven that the absolute minimum spanning tree problem is strongly NP-hard when the number of scenarios is unbounded. The second to last chapter proves that the absolute robust knapsack problem is strongly NP-hard on an unlimited number of scenarios and the corresponding algorithm is given. The last chapter contains a concrete implementation of an algorithm that solves the absolute robust shortest path problem in the Ruby programming language with associated examples.

Ovaj diplomski rad proučava problem klasifikacije proteina u proteinske familije. Proteini se klasificiraju identifikacijom kratkog niza aminokiselina kojeg sadrže, a zovemo ga motivom. Motiv je ostao djelomično očuvan u evoluciji te se može povezati s prepoznatljivim dijelom u strukturi proteina koji izvršava određenu funkciju.Za razliku od tipičnih pretraživača motiva koji promatraju sličnost potencijalnih motiva sa zadanim motivom, u ovom radu se opisuje i testira metoda koja promatra njihovu međusobnu sličnost. Metoda je zamišljena da djeluje u kombinaciji s nekim pretraživačem motiva pružajući mu tako svoj pristup u traženju odgovora. Uz pomoć opisa aminokiselina numeričkim vektorima, problem se smješta u euklidski prostor gdje se umjesto sličnosti promatra udaljenost. Pretpostavka je da se motivi, pronađeni u proteinima koji biološki pripadaju promatranoj familiji, grupiraju. Cilj metode pronaći je optimalnu kuglu koja će obuhvatiti što veći broj pravih odgovora uz što manje pogrešnih. Metoda je testirana na dvanaest biljnih proteoma u čijim proteinima se tražilo karakteristične motive VQ proteinske familije. U većini slučajeva, metoda se pokazala uspješnom što je ujedno i potvrdilo pretpostavku o grupiranju This thesis studies the protein family classification problem. Proteins are classified by identifying a short amino acids sequence contained within them. This short sequence is called a motif. During evolution, the motif has remained partly conserved and can be associated with the recognizable part of the protein structure that performs a distinct function. Unlike typical motif scanners that observe the similarity of potential motifs with a given motif, this thesis describes and tests the method that considers pairwise similarity. The method works in combination with another motif scanner by providing additional criteria for motif identification. By describing amino acids using numerical vectors the problem is placed in Euclidean space where distance is considered instead of similarity. The assumption is that the motifs, found in proteins that belong biologically to the observed family, will group. The goal of this method is to find the optimal ball that will contain as many correct hits and as few wrong ones as possible. The method was tested on twelve plant proteomes whose proteins were searched for containing characteristic motifs of the VQ protein family. In most of the cases, the method proved to be successful which in turn confirmed true positives clustering assumption.

U ovom radu proučavali smo politiku reosiguranja i potražnje za priljevima novaca s ciljem očuvanja poslovanja tvrtke i spašavanja iste od propasti. Cilj modela bio je ustvrditi trenutke u kojima je potrebno zatražiti priljev novaca te njihov iznos, pronaći optimalnu razinu reosiguranja (za oba oblika reosiguranja) te funkciju vrijednosti koja prati troškove firme i minimizira ih. Optimalna funkcija vrijednosti pronađena je eksplicitno pomoću kvazi-varijacijskih nejednakosti i radi se o eksponencijalnoj funkciji. Trenuci u kojima je potrebno zatražiti priljeve novaca su upravo oni u kojima dolazi do propasti poslovanja (pričuva je jednaka nuli). Iznosi priljeva novaca kao i optimalna razina reosiguranja su konstante. Time je optimalna politika koja kontrolira pričuvu modelirana difuzijskim procesom sa skokovima gdje je pričuvni proces Brownovo gibanje s konstantnim driftom i konstatnim skokovima napravljenima u trenucima propasti poslovanja. In this paper, we studied an optimal reinsurance policy as well as the optimal policy of cash-injection calls. The presented model establishes the moments in which it is necessary to request cash injections and determines their amount, it also finds the optimal level of reinsurance (for both forms of reinsurance) and the value function that minimizes the cost. The optimal value function is found explicitly using QVI and is an exponential function. Cash-injections are optimally called at the moment of ruins (surplus is equal to zero) and their amount was found to be constant. The optimal level of reinsurance is also found to be constant. Thus, the optimal policy that controls surplus process was modeled by jumpdiffusion process and the surplus process became a Brownian motion with a constant drift and constant jumps at the times of ruin.

Linearna regresija najčešći je oblik regresijske analize. Ako su pretpostavke normalnosti, homogenosti i nezavisnosti slučajnih grešaka ispunjene, metoda najmanjih kvadrata daje egzaktne rezultate. U praksi su pretpostavke često oslabljene ili čak nedostižne, čime se traži alternativa u procjeni koeficijenata. Metode ponovnog uzorkovanja koje se zasnivaju na zakonu velikih brojeva nameću se kao moguće potencijalno rješenje. U ovom radu proučava se bootstrap metoda, koja polazi od ideje da statistički uzorak već sadrži sve dostupne informacije o nekoj funkciji distribucije F te ponovnim uzorkovanjem dobiva se uzorak koji pripada toj istoj distribuciji. U središtu interesa su dva algoritma - metoda uzorkovanja podataka i metoda uzorkovanja grešaka. U prvom poglavlju iznose se osnovni pojmovi teorije vjerojatnosti te se predstavlja bootstrap metoda. U drugom poglavlju definiran je jednostavan model linearne regresije te je iznesena ideja bootstrap metode za distribuciju procjenitelja. Treće poglavlje je proširivanje drugog poglavlja na višedimenzionalan slučaj. Također, predstavljen je pojam predikcije te uloga bootstrap metode u tom pogledu. U četvrtom poglavlju izloženi su praktični rezultati dobiveni raznim simulacijama u programskom jeziku R. Dodatak na kraju rada je peto poglavlje, gdje se nalazi kod korišten za provođenje simulacija. Linear regression is the most common form of regression analysis. If the assumptions of normality, homogeneity and independence of random errors are satisfied, the least square method gives exact results. In practice, assumptions are often difficult to reach or even elusive, which requires looking for an alternative. Resampling methods, based on the law of large numbers, are offered as a possible potential solution. In this paper, the bootstrap method is studied, which is based on the idea that a statistical sample already contains all available information about a distribution function F, so by resampling, we get a sample that belongs to that same distribution. Two algorithms are particularly discussed – the data resampling method and the errors resampling method. In the first chapter, the basic concepts of probability theory and the bootstrap method are presented. In the second chapter, a simple linear regression model is defined and the idea of the bootstrap method for the distribution of estimators is exposed. The third chapter is an extension of the second chapter to a multidimensional case. Also, the concept of prediction and the role of the bootstrap method in this respect are presented. In the fourth chapter, the practical results obtained by conducting various simulations in the R programming language are exposed. The code used to perform the simulations is presented at the end of the paper, in the fifth chapter.

U statistici često koristimo pretpostavku da su podaci međusobno nezavisni, no ona nije sasvim opravdana kada radimo s opažanjima koja su, zbog načina na koji su prikupljeni ili prirode problema kojeg opisuju, strukturirani u nekoliko grupa. Zbog toga uvodimo hijerarhijske modele, kod kojih je distribucija podataka za svaku grupu parametrizirana s θj, j = 1, 2, . . . , J, a odnos među parametrima modeliran je zajedničkom vjerojatnosnom distribucijom nad θ1, . . . , θJ. U okviru hijerarhijskih modela, posebno se ističe prednost bayesovskog pristupa, koji omogućava da pri donošenju zaključaka za jednu grupu iskoristimo i podatke o preostalim grupama. Bayesovsko hijerarhijsko modeliranje podrazumijeva da je i zajednička distribucija od θ1, . . . , θJ parametrizirana preko hiperparametara ϕ, za koje također promatramo apriornu i aposeriornu distribuciju i za koje donosimo statističke zaključke slijedeći bayesovske principe. U ovom smo radu iznijeli osnove bayesovske statistike, motivirali uvođenje hijerarhijskih modela te obradili bayesovsko hijerarhijsko modeliranje, s naglaskom na postavljanju modela i analizi dobivenih rezultata. Na primjerima su ilustrirane prednosti i glavne značajke bayesovskog hijerarhijskog pristupa modeliranju klasteriranih podataka, kao i metode računarske statistike korisne za prikaz rezultata. When doing statistical analysis, we often assume that data points are mutually independent. However, due to the way it was collected or the nature of the problem it came from, data is often structured into groups or clusters. In these situations, the assumption of independence comes into question. To tackle that, we introduce hierarchical models, where the probability distribution of data for each of the J groups is defined by the parameter θj and the relationship between these parameters is modeled by the joint distribution of θ1, . . . , θJ. Bayesian inference further broadens the use of hierarchical models because it enables us to make statistical conclusions about a certain group while incorporating information contained in the data belonging to other groups. In Bayesian hierarchical models, the joint distribution of θ1, . . . , θJ is defined by the hyperparameters ϕ, for which we also set a prior and calculate the posterior distribution using Bayesian inference. In this master’s thesis, we present the main theoretical results of Bayesian statistics, we discuss the motivation behind hierarchical modeling and give a detailed description of Bayesian hierarchical models, focusing on the procedure of setting up and analysing these models. We highlight the key advantages and principles of Bayesian hierarchical modeling using examples in which we also showcase computational methods for displaying results.

U ovom radu prikazali smo primjene nekih tehnika robusne optimizacije u strojnom učenju. Robusna optimizacija važan je dio optimizacije koji se bavi nesigurnošću u podacima optimizacijskih problema. Kako se u današnje vrijeme strojno učenje često susreće s nesigurnošću, robusna optimizacija tu ima sve veću ulogu. Promatrana je veza između robusnosti i regulariziranog stroja potpornih vektora, točnije, pokazali smo da je standardni regularizirani stroj potpornih vektora posebni slučaj robusne optimizacije. Zatim je uvedena robusna regresija s pogreškom najmanjih kvadrata te je promatran slučaj gdje su značajke izložene smetnjama, to jest nesigurnosti. Osigurana je interpretacija Lasso algoritma s robusne perspektive, a na temelju te robusne interpretacije istražena su svojstva rijetkosti i konzistentnosti. Osim toga, predstavljen je rezultat koji nam govori da su rijetkost i stabilnost u kontradikciji, to jest da se ne mogu postići simultano. In this paper, we presented some robust optimization techniques in machine learning. Robust optimization is an important part of optimization that deals with uncertainty in the data of optimization problems. As today’s machine learning is often faced with uncertainty, robust optimization plays an increasingly important role. The connection between robustness and regularized support vector machine was observed, more precisely, we showed that the standard regularized support vector machine is a special case of robust optimization. Robust regression with least squares error was introduced and the case where the features are exposed to disturbances, that is, uncertainties, was observed. An interpretation of the Lasso algorithm from a robust perspective is provided, and on the basis of this robust interpretation, the properties of sparsity and consistency are investigated. In addition, a result is presented that tells us that sparsity and stability are in contradiction, that is, they cannot be achieved simultaneously.

U ovom radu pokazano je kako primjeniti matematičke alate u obradi digitalnih slika. Pri implementaciji je korišten programski jezik python. U prvom poglavlju definirani su algoritmi za DFT i DCT, kao i njihove implementacije, te je naveden i kratki opis i implementacija filtera. U drugom poglavlju objašnjeno je kako se slike reprezentiraju u računalu i kako im jednostavno mijenjati neka svojstva. Pokazana je primjena jednostavnih operacija kao npr. mijenjanje kontrasta, te primjena operacija baziranih na filterima(detekcija rubova i zaglađivanje slike). Dana je i definicija tenzorskog produkta koji je koristan kako bi se algoritmi definirani u prvom poglavlju jednostavno proširili na višedimenzionalno okruženje. Na kraju je pokazana implementacija višedimenzionalnih algoritama za FFT i DCT, te primjena tih algoritama na konkretnim primjerima. In this thesis is shown how to apply mathematical tools in image processing. The Python programming language was used during the implementation. In the first chapter, the algorithms for DFT and DCT are defined, as well as their implementations, and a brief description and implementation of the filter is provided. In the second chapter, it is explained how images are represented in the computer and how to easily change some of their properties. The application of simple operations, such as changing the contrast, and the application of filter based operations (edge detection and image smoothing) are shown. A definition of the tensor product is also given, which is useful in order to easily extend the algorithms defined in the first chapter to a multidimensional environment. At the end, the implementation of multidimensional algorithms for FFT and DCT is shown, as well as the application of these algorithms on concrete examples.

Neke konstante poput π, e i √ 2 poznatije su od drugih brojeva jer se češće spominju u osnovno školskom i srednjoškolskom obrazovanju. Stoga smo u ovom radu proučili ulogu tih konstanti u osnovnoškolskoj i srednjoškolskoj nastavi matematike. Diplomski rad sastoji se od tri poglavlja i svako poglavlje posvećeno je jednoj od ovih konstanti. Na početku se ukratko osvrćemo na njihovu povijest i dajemo motivaciju za njihovo uvođenje. Naposljetku, raznim primjerima i problemima detaljno prikazujemo njihove uloge i primjene u nastavi matematike u osnovnoj i srednjoj školi. Some constants such as π, e and √ 2 are better known than others because they are mentioned more often in the elementary and high school education. Thus, in this thesis, we investigated their role in the education of mathematics. The thesis consists of three chapters and each chapter is dedicated to one of these constants. We start by briefly recalling their history and providing a motivation for its introduction. Finally, we use a variety of examples and problems to demonstrate in detail its role and application in teaching of mathematics in elementary and high school classes.

U ovome radu prezentiramo metodu sažimajućeg očitavanja koja nam omogućuje rekonstrukciju signala iz vrlo malog broja mjerenja, uz uvjet rijetkosti signala u nekoj bazi. Rekonstrukciju dobivamo preko problema minimizacije \(l_1\) norme, koja pod određenim uvjetima daje ista rješenja kao problem minimizacije \(l_0\) norme. U prvom poglavlju formuliran je problem sažimajućeg očitavanja i dana je usporedba s klasičnim pristupima sažimanju podataka. Uvedene su definicije i pojmovi koji se kasnije koriste. U drugom poglavlju detaljno je predstavljena teorija sažimajućeg očitavanja: pokazani su uvjeti pod kojima će postupak biti uspješan te su dane granice točnosti rekonstrukcije ovisno o parametrima mjerenja. U trećem poglavlju pokazali smo kako sažimajuće očitavanje radi u problemima rekonstrukcije slika, te smo uveli poboljšanja na sam postupak koja dovode do boljih rezultata rekonstrukcije. In this paper, we investigate compressive sensing, a technique that allows for the reconstruction of a signal from a limited number of measurements, provided that the signal exibits sparsity in some orthonormal basis. The signal is reconstructed by solving a \(l_1\) minimization problem is solved, which in the right conditions, yields a solution that is equivalent to a \(l_0\) minimization problem. In the first chapter, we formulate the compressive sensing problem and give compare it to the standard approach for signal compression. Key definitions and concepts are introduced. In the second chapter, we present a comprehensive theory of compressive sensing, demonstrating the conditions under which the method is guaranteed to be successful, and we providing the bounds on the reconstruction error based on the measurement process. In the third chapter, we demonstrate the application of compressive sensing to image reconstruction and modifications that significantly improve the reconstruction accuracy.

U ovom radu modelirala se turistička potrošnja u Republici Hrvatskoj koristeći metode statističkog učenja. Na početku rada dali smo uvod u statističko učenje, uveli terminologiju, centralne pojmove najbolje veze i funkcije gubitka te cijeli okvir za daljnje predstavljanje metoda koje smo koristili. Podsjetili smo se linearnog regresijskog modela i najčešće metode njegove prilagodbe - metode najmanjih kvadrata. Definirali smo pojmove testne greške i očekivane testne greške te predstavili metodu unakrsne validacije kao metodu za procjenu očekivane testne greške. Koristeći lemu o dekompoziciji očekivane testne greške, objasnili smo odnos pristranosti i varijance u statističkom učenju. Potom smo uveli metode odabira prediktora u linearnim modelima te metode regularizacije (ridge i LASSO regresija). Na kraju smo predstavljene metode primijenili na podatke Instituta za turizam o turističkoj potrošnji u Republici Hrvatskoj. Rezultati svih metoda koje smo primijenili upućuju na nelinearnost veze između varijabli odziva i varijable prediktora. Sve metode dovode do približno jednakih zaključaka vezano uz utjecaj pojedinih prediktora na odziv. S obzirom da je testna greška najmanja kod metoda ridge i LASSO regresije, za njih bismo se najprije odlučili pri donošenju zaključaka. In this thesis, we model tourist expenditure in the Republic of Croatia using statistical learning methods. The thesis begins with an introduction to the statistical learning terminology, its concepts and its main tools. We then further revise the linear regression model and the least squares method. Next, we define the test error and the expected test error of a prediction and we present the cross-validation method as a tool for estimating the expected test error. We also provide a decomposition of the expected test error which explains the relationship between bias and variance in the statistical learning theory. We next discuss subset selection methods in linear models and regularization methods (ridge and LASSO). Finally, we apply the presented methods to the data provided by the Institute for Tourism on tourist expenditure in the Republic of Croatia. The results of all the methods we apply suggest a non-linear relationship between the response variable and the predictor variables. However, they also lead to a similar conclusion on the relationship between the response variable and the regressors, with regularization methods giving lower test error.

Osnovni cilj ovog rada je aksiomatski pristup teoriji integracije. U prvom poglavlju su izneseni osnovni rezultati Riemannovog i Lebesgueovog pristupa pojmu integrala. U drugom poglavlju uvodimo Daniellov integral, pojmove donjih i gornjih funkcija te pojam sumabilne funkcije. U trećem poglavlju dajemo vezu Daniellovog integrala i teorije mjere. Na samom kraju iznosimo Stoneov aksiom i objašnjavamo njegovu važnost., Primary goal of this paper is axiomatic approach to theory of integration. In the first chapter we give basic results of Riemann and Lebesgue integral. In the second chapter we introduce definition of Daniell integral, definitions of lower and upper functions and definition of summable function. In the third chapter we give a link between Daniell integral and measure theory. At the very end we discuss Stone’s axiom and it’s importance.

Matematički centri su područja u učionici gdje učenici imaju priliku u manjim skupinama primijeniti strategije i vještine naučene na nastavi. Cilj ovog rada je predstaviti same centre koji su popularni u Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama te osmisliti i predložiti na koji način bi ih bilo najbolje implementirati u nastavu matematike u Republici Hrvatskoj. Matematičke igre i matematičke aktivnosti prilagođene temi i individualnoj potrebi učenika uvelike olakšavaju uvježbavanje i usavršavanje vještina naučenih na nastavi. Smatram da je prilagodba moguća i da bi se uz matematičke centre razbila monotonost te da bi se na taj način probudio interes za gradivom kod učenika., Math centers are areas in the classroom where students have the opportunity to apply strategies and skills learned in class in small groups. The aim of this thesis is to present the centers that are popular in the United States of America and to design and propose the best way to implement them in the teaching of mathematics in the Republic of Croatia. Mathematical games and mathematical activities adapted to the topic and the individual needs of students greatly facilitate the practice and improvement of skills learned in class. I believe that adaptation is possible and that, with math centers, the monotony would be broken and in that way students' interest in the material would be awakened.

Cilj ovog rada bio je objasniti primjenu metode pražnjenja koja ima važnu ulogu u teoriji grafova i korištena je u slavnom dokazu teorema o četiri boje. Metoda se provodi kroz dva koraka, dodjeljivanje naboja vrhovima, bridovima ili stranama grafa te premještanje tih naboja po određenom skupu pravila. Kroz razne primjere u planarnim grafovima i bojenjima smo pokazali kako navedena metoda funkcionira., The aim of this work was to explain the application of discharging method, which has an important role in graph theory and was used in the famous proof of the four color theorem. The method is implemented through two steps, assigning charges to the vertices, edges or faces of the graph and moving these charges according to a certain set of rules. Through various examples in planar graphs and colorings, we have shown how the specified method works.

Logistička regresija je statistička metoda koja se koristi u analizi podataka u kojoj je cilj opisati vezu izmedu dihotomne zavisne varijable i jedne (ili više) nezavisnih varijabli. U ovome radu prikazana je primjena logističke regresije u modeliranju problema odljeva korisnika u industriji mobilnih igara. Nakon prikaza osnovne teorijske podloge, izgrađeni su univarijatni i multivarijatni logistički modeli za problem predikcije odljeva korisnika pri čemu su uspoređeni modeli s obzirom na različite definicije odljeva korisnika. Prikazana je izgradnja multivarijatnih modela temeljem stepwise procedure uz podršku statističkog programa R., Logistic regression is a statistical method used in data analysis where the goal is to describe the relationship between a dichotomous dependent variable and one or more independent variables. This paper presents the application of logistic regression in modeling churn problems in the mobile game industry. This work provides the presentation of the basic theoretical basis and the application based on the real-world data where univariate and multivariate logistic models are built for the problem of predicting user churn. Also, models are compared at different levels of churn definition. The construction of multivariate models based on the stepwise method is presented with the support of the statistical program R.

U ovom radu opisane su originalne verzije alata InterSet i algoritma CLUS-RM te interaktivni alat koji je nastao njihovim spajanjem. U prvom se poglavlju navode i definiraju osnovni pojmovi za lakše razumijevanje teme i načina rada korištenih alata. Nakon uvodnih definicija i objašnjenja, slijedi opis alata za pretraživanje skupova redeskripcija (InterSet) i algoritma za traženje redeskripcija (CLUS-RM). U daljnjim poglavljima opisuje se način implementacije interaktivnog alata. U zadnjem poglavlju prikazan je rad novonastalog alata popraćen primjerima i slikama. Kao rezultat rada konstruirano je efektivno interaktivno okruženje za traženje, pregledavanje i duboku analizu skupova redeskripcija. This thesis describes the original versions of the InterSet tool and the CLUS-RM algorithm, as well as the interactive tool that was created by combining them. In the first chapter, basic terms are listed and defined for easier understanding of the topic and working methods of the tools used. After introductory definitions and explanations, there is a description of the tool for interactive redescription set exploration (InterSet) and the algorithm for redescription creation (CLUS-RM). The following chapters describe how the interactive tool was implemented. The final chapter presents the funcionality of the newly created tool, followed by examples and illustrations. As a result of this thesis, an effective interactive environment for searching, browsing and deep analysis of sets of redescriptions was constructed.

U ovom radu proučavali smo incidencijske algebre. Na početku smo definirali parcijalno uređen skup, lokalnu konačnost parcijalno uređenog skupa te naveli nekoliko primjera. Nakon toga uveden je pojam incidencijske algebre lokalno konačnog parcijalno uređenog skupa nad komutativnim prstenom Rs jedinicom. Pokazano je da je incidencijska algebra po strukturi asocijativna R-algebra s jedinicom te da se može uložiti u algebru trokutastih matrica.Središnji dio rada bavi se računanjem Moebiusove funkcije na elementima parcijalno uređenog skupa te generaliziranim formulama Moebiusove inverzije.Primjena Moebiusove inverzije ilustrirana je na primjerima iz kombinatorike.Nadalje, definirali smo pojam E-funkcije incidencijske algebre, gdje je E relacija ekvivalencije te je pokazana veza između incidencijske algebre i skupa svih E-funkcija u njoj. Uveden je pojam reducirane incidencijske algebre te je dana karakterizacija reducirane incidencijske podalgebre konačnog parcijalno uređenog skupa nad poljem. Konačno, dani su primjeri koji nam pokazuju vezu reduciranih incidencijskih podalgebri s prstenima formalnih redova potencija. In this thesis we study incidence algebras. At the beginning, we define a partially ordered set, local finiteness of a partially ordered set and give several examples. After that we introduce the concept of incidence algebra of a locally finite partially ordered set over a commutative ring R with identity. It is shown that the incidence algebra is an associative R-algebra with identity and that it can be embedded into the algebra of triangular matrices. The central part of the thesis deals with the calculation of the Moebius function on the elements of a partially ordered set and with the generalized formulas of Moebius inversion. Applications of Moebius inversion are illustrated by examples from combinatorics. In addition, we define the concept of E-functions in an incidence algebra, where E is an equivalence relation, and we show the connection between the incidence algebra and the set of all E-functions in it.The concept of reduced incidence algebra is introduced and a characterization of the reduced incidence subalgebra of a finite partially ordered set over a field is given. Finally, we give examples that show connections between reduced incidence subalgebras and rings of formal power series.

The main objects of interest in this thesis are elliptic curves and the objects related to them. We will mostly investigate the isogenies of elliptic curves over number fields of small degree, but we will also give some interesting results about the torsion of rational elliptic curves when the torsion is considered over some specific cyclotomic fields. Let \(E/\mathbb{Q}\) be an elliptic curve and \(p \leq 11\) a prime. We give a complete classification of the possibilities for \(E(\mathbb{Q}(\zeta_p))\) as well as for \(E(\mathbb{Q}(\zeta_{16}))\) and \(E(\mathbb{Q}(\zeta_{27}))\). Using the previous result of Gužvić and Krijan [41], we are able to give a complete classification for \(E(\mathbb{Q}(\mu_{p^\infty}))_{tors}\). Here, the set \(\mu_{p^\infty}\) is the set of all complex numbers \(\omega\) for which there exists non-negative integer \(k\) such that \(\omega^{p^k} =1\). Moving on to the isogenies, we can ask ourselves which cyclic isogeny degrees are possible for a non-CM elliptic curve \(E/\mathbb{Q}\) if the isogeny is defined over a low degree number field. Since the presence of a (cyclic) isogeny is invariant under quadratic twisting, we actually determine which cyclic isogeny degrees are possible for a non-CM elliptic curve defined over a quadratic field \(K\), but which has a rational \(j\)-invariant. Similarly, given a quadratic field \(K\) and an elliptic curve \(E/K\), we can ask ourselves which cyclic isogeny degrees are possible for \(E\). We use the fact that the pairs \((E/K,C)\), where \(C\) is a cyclic subgroup of \(E\) defined over \(K\), are parametrized by \(K\)-rational points on the modular curve \(X_0(n)\). Hence, we should look for quadratic points on curves \(X_0(n)\). We are able to determine all the quadratic points on all bielliptic curves \(X_0(n)\) for which this has not been done before. This covers the cases \(n = 60,62,69,79,83,89,92,94,95,101, 119,131\). Our proof relies a lot on the relative symmetric Chabauty’s method developed by Siksek [82] and used by Box [13] on a related problem. We also make some improvements to the method, both from the computational and algebraic perspective. The Magma [12] code which verifies our computations can be found on the links given at the beginning of each corresponding chapter. Glavni objekti kojim se bavimo u ovoj disertaciji su eliptičke krivulje i objekti povezani s njima. Većinom ćemo proučavati izogenije eliptičkih krivulja nad poljima algebarskih brojeva malog stupnja, ali ćemo također dati i neke zanimljive rezultate vezane za torziju racionalnih eliptičkih krivulja, pri čemu torziju promatramo nad nekim specifičnim ciklotomskim poljima. Neka je \(E/\mathbb{Q}\) eliptička krivulja i \(p \leq 11\) prost broj. Potpuno ćemo klasificirati mogućnosti za \(E(\mathbb{Q}(\zeta_p))\) kao i za \(E(\mathbb{Q}(\zeta_{16}))\) i \(E(\mathbb{Q}(\zeta_{27}))\). Kombinirajući to s prethodnim rezultatom Gužvića i Krijana [41], možemo potpuno klasificirati mogućnosti za \(E(\mathbb{Q}(\mu_{p^\infty}))_{tors}\). Pritom, skup \(\mu_{p^\infty}\) je skup svih kompleksnih brojeva ω za koje postoji nenegativan cijeli broj \(k\) za koji je \(\omega^{p^k} =1\). Prebacujući se na izogenije, možemo se pitati koji stupnjevi cikličkih izogenija su mogući za eliptičku krivulju bez kompleksnog množenja (non-CM) \(E/\mathbb{Q}\)ako je ta izogenija definirana nad poljem algebarskih brojeva malog stupnja. Kako je prisustvo (cikličke) izogenije invarijantno na kvadratni tvist, zapravo ćemo odrediti koji stupnjevi cikličkih izogenija su mogući za non-CM eliptičku krivulju definiranu nad kvadratnim poljem \(K\) s racionalnom \(j\)-invarijantom. Slično, za neko kvadratno polje \(K\) i eliptičku krivulju \(E/K\), možemo se pitati koje stupnjeve cikličkih izogenija može imati \(E\). Koristimo činjenicu da su parovi \((E/K,C)\), gdje je \(C\) ciklička podgrupa od \(E\) definirana nad \(K\), parametrizirani \(K\)-racionalnim točkama na modularnoj krivulji \(X_0(n)\). Dakle, trebamo tražiti kvadratne točke na krivulji \(X_0(n)\). Uspješno ćemo odrediti sve kvadratne točke na svim bieliptičkim \(X_0(n)\) za koje to nije napravljeno ranije. To obuhvaća slučajeve \(n = 60,62,69,79,83,89,92,94,95,101, 119,131\). Naš dokaz se značajno oslanja na relativnu simetričnu Chabautyjevu metodu koju je razvio Siksek [82], a koristio Box [13] na povezanom problemu. Također ćemo napraviti neka poboljšanja te metode, gledano iz računske i algebarske perspektive. Magma [12] kodovi koji provjeravaju naše izračune se mogu naći na poveznicama na početku svakog pripadnog poglavlja.

In this thesis we analyse the tail behaviour of bivariate random sequences, including the stationary \(M\)-dependent sequences, \(M \in \mathbb{N}\). Statistical analysis of the asymptotic tail behaviour of random sequences is often done within the theory of point processes. However, if a larger number of tail events is available it is possible to obtain convergence results towards normal distribution, which we do in this thesis. Motivated by the recent results of DiCiccio and Romano [8] on permutation tests for correlation between random variables, we present and analyse the permutation test of tail dependence for independent and identically distributed bivariate random vectors. Additionally, we present the permutation test of independence for stationary \(M\)-dependent random sequences. U ovom radu predstavljamo analizu repnog ponašanja slučajnih nizova dvodimenzionalnih vektora, što uključuje i slučaj stacionarnih \(M\)-zavisnih nizova, \(M \in \mathbb{N}\). Često se asimptotska analiza repnog ponašanja slučajnih nizova obavlja u okviru teorije točkovnih procesa. Ipak, ukoliko je dostupan veći broj repnih događaja moguće je postići konvergenciju prema normalnoj distribuciji, kao što je to slučaj u ovom radu. Motivirani relativno novim rezultatima o permutacijskim testovima za korelaciju između dvije slučajne varijable, objavljenima u DiCiccio and Romano [8], u ovom radu predstavljamo i analiziramo test repne zavisnosti za nezavisne i jednako distribuirane dvodimenzionalne slučajne vektore. Dodatno, predstavljamo i permutacijski test nezavisnosti za stacionarne \(M\)-zavisne slučajne nizove.

Osnovna tema diplomskog rada je rješavanje problema u matematici. Za učinkovito rješavanje problema primjenjuju se različite strategije. Diplomski rad posebno je usredotočen na strategije usko vezane za rješavanje odredenih problemskih situacija i njihovo poučavanje u nastavi matematike. Cilj ovog diplomskog rada je istražiti i analizirati strategije rješavanja problema u nastavnom predmetu Matematika. Svrha ovog rada je prezentirati potencijale u učenju i poučavanju strategija za rješavanje problema u nastavi matematike. Time je osobito važno ukazati na značaj pristupa nastavnika tematici rješavanja problema. U radu su predstavljeni praktični primjeri koje nastavnici mogu koristi pri poučavanju strategija za rješavanje problema. Ovim radom želi se potaknuti dublje razumijevanje problematike u području poučavanja strategija rješavanja problema. The basic topic is problem solving in mathematics. Different strategies are used to effectively solve the problem. This document is particularly focused on strategies closely related to solving certain problem situations and teaching them in mathematics classes. The aim of this thesis is to investigate and analyze strategies for problem solving in the teaching subject Mathematics. The purpose of this paper is to present potentials in learning and teaching strategies for problem solving in mathematics teaching. With this, it is particularly important to point out the importance of the teacher’s approach to problem solving. The paper presents practical examples that teachers can use when teaching problem solving strategies. This work aims to encourage a deeper understanding of the problem in the area of teaching problem solving strategies.

Primarni je cilj ovoga rada prikazati osnovne rezultate klasične teorije varijacijskog računa i pripadajuće primjene u problemima ekonomske prirode kroz nekoliko primjera. Navedeni su dovoljni i nužni uvjeti da funkcija \(\bar{x} \in C^1([a,b])\), uz zadane rubne uvjete \(x(t_0)=x_0\) i \(x(t_1)=x_1\) bude maksimizator funkcionala: \(I(x) = \int_{t_0}^{t_1} F \left( t, x(t), x'(t) \right) \, dt,\) pri čemu je funkcija \( F:[a,b] \times \mathbb{R} \times \mathbb{R} \to \mathbb{R} \) neprekidna u svoja 3 argumenta \(t\), \(x\) i \(x'\), i po njima ima neprekidne parcijalne derivacije. Dan je i dodatni uvjet koji maksimizator mora zadovoljavati u slučaju kada je neki od rubnih uvjeta slobodan. Također je dan način za pronalaženje maksimizatora gore navedenog funkcionala u slučaju da je funkcija \(x\) ograničena s \(R(t) \geq x(t), t_0 \leq t \leq t_1\), pri čemu je \(R\) neprekidna funkcija definirana na \([t_0, t_1]\). Predstavljen je još autonomni problem neograničen odozgo te pronalaženje njegovog rješenja metodom najbržeg prilaska. Na kraju su navedeni rezultati primijenjeni na nekoliko problema iz ekonomskog područja, kao na primjer pronalaženje plana proizvodnje koji prati zadani raspored isporuka i minimizira troškove. The primary focus of this thesis is to present some of the basic concepts of the classical theory of the calculus of variations and their applications in economics through several examples. Sufficient and necessary conditions are given so that the function \(\bar{x} \in C^1([a,b])\), with given boundary conditions, \(x(t_0)=x_0\) and \(x(t_1)=x_1\), maximizes the following functional: \(I(x) = \int_{t_0}^{t_1} F \left( t, x(t), x'(t) \right) \, dt,\) is continuous (and has continuous partial derivatives) in its 3 arguments \(t\), \(x\) and \(x'\). An additional condition is given that the maximizing function must satisfy when one of the boundary conditions is free. We have also shown a way to find the maximizing function of the above functional in the case when function \(x\) is bounded by \(R(t) \geq x(t), t_0 \leq t \leq t_1\), where \(R\) is a continuous function defined on \([t_0, t_1]\). An infinite horizon autonomous problem is also presented, as well as finding its solution using the most rapid approach method. Finally, the stated results are applied to several problems in economics, such as finding a production plan that follows a given delivery schedule and minimizes costs.

Ovaj rad predstavlja pregled metodologije za određivanje cijene slučajnih zahtjeva prema ročnoj strukturi kamatne stope. Uzimajući u obzir početnu krivulju forward kamatne stope i mehanizam koji opisuje kako ona fluktuira, razvijamo model arbitražnog određivanja cijena koji daje procjene vrijednosti slučajnih zahtjeva koji ne ovise eksplicitno o tržišnim cijenama rizika. U prvom poglavlju formulirali smo temeljne postavke HJM pristupa te smo pronašli formulu za promjenu cijene obveznice. U drugom poglavlju pronašli smo dva dovoljna uvjeta za nepostojanje mogućnosti arbitraže za sve obveznice različitih dospijeća te smo zaključili da su ta dva uvjeta ekvivalentna. U trećem poglavlju pretpostavili smo da je volatilnost σ forward kamatne stope deterministička funkcija te smo pokazali kako tržišne cijene rizika u potpunosti proizlaze iz arbitražnih vrijednosti izvedenica osjetljivih na kamatnu stopu. U četvrtom poglavlju dobili smo izraz zatvorenog oblika za arbitražnu cijenu europske opcije na obveznice uz pretpostavku da su volatilnosti ograničene. Također smo iskazali eksplicitnu formulu za arbitražnu cijenu call opcije na dionicu, te dokazali da vrijedi formula za put-call paritet. This thesis presents an overview of the methodology for pricing contingent claims on the term structure of interest rates. Given an initial forward rate curve and a mechanism which describes how it fluctuates, we develop an arbitrage pricing model which yields contingent claim valuations which do not explicitly depend on the market prices for risk. In the first chapter, we formulated the basic postulates of the HJM approach and we derived the formula for the dynamics of the bond price. In the second chapter, we present two sufficient conditions for the absence of arbitrage for all bonds of different maturities, and we conclude that these two conditions are equivalent. In the third chapter, we assumed that the volatility σ of the forward rate is a deterministic function and we showed that the market prices for risk are derived from arbitrage values of interest rate-sensitive derivatives. In the fourth chapter, we obtained a closed-form expression for the arbitrage price of a European bond option under the assumption that volatilities are bounded. We also presented an explicit formula for the arbitrage price of a call option on a stock and proved that the formula for the put-call parity is valid.

U ovom radu predstavljen je postupak automatske obrade slike s ciljem praćenja dinamike određenog procesa te objektivizacije rezultata. Kao prototip problema koriste se slike stanične diobe za vrijeme mitoze. Također, uvodi se pojam centrosoma i predlaže metoda računalnog vida koja određuje njihov položaj na digitalnim slika. Navodimo sve korištene algoritme potrebne za implementaciju metode te ih opisujemo u formalnom smislu. Uz to, predlažu se i dvije metode za računanje kuta otvora vretena na polovima te prikazujemo implementaciju pripadnih algoritama. Konačno, za svaku metodu navodimo završne rezultate. This thesis presents the procedure of automatic image processing with the aim of monitoring the dynamics of a certain process and objectifying the results. Images of cell division during mitosis are used as a prototype of the problem. Also, the term centrosome is introduced and a computer vision method that determines their position on digital images is proposed. The algorithms needed to implement the method are listed and described in a formal manner. In addition, two methods for finding the opening angle of the spindle at the poles are proposed, along with the implementation of the corresponding algorithms. At the end, the final results for each method are shown.

Cilj ovog rada bio je prezentirati osnovnu teoriju C*-algebri s naglaskom na C*- algebre kompaktnih operatora. Nakon što se obrade glavni rezultati teorije Banachovih algebri, započinjemo s promatranjem jedne posebne klase Banachovih algebri, tzv. C*-algebri koje su po definiciji Banachove *-algebre čiji svaki element zadovoljava ||a*a|| = \(||a||^2\). Dokazan je Komutativni Gelfand-Naimarkov teorem koji ukratko kaže da svaku komutativnu C*-algebru možemo realizirati kao algebru neprekidnih funkcija na nekom lokalno kompaktnom Hausdorffovom prostoru koje iščezavaju u beskonačnosti. Nakon toga se razvija teorija reprezentacija C*-algebri što kulminira poznatim (nekomutativnim) Gelfand-Naimark teoremom koji kaže da se svaka C*-algebra može realizirati kao zatvorena, samoadjunigrana podalgebra algebre ograničenih operatora na nekom Hilbertovom prostoru. Nakon toga, naglasak je stavljen na analizu C*-algebri kompaktnih operatora, gdje u potpunosti opisujemo reprezentacije C*-algebri kompaktnih operatora te pomoću tog opisa dolazimo do njihovog strukturnog teorema. The goal of this thesis was to present the basic theory of C*-algebras with emphasis on C*-algebras of compact operators. After the main results in the theory of Banach algebras are covered, we proceed with the study of so called C*-algebras, which are defined as complete *-algebras whose every element satisfies ||a*a|| = |\(||a||^2\). Commutative Gelfand-Naimark theorem is proven which, in short, states that every commutative C*-algebra can be realized as an algebra of continuous functions on some locally compact Hausdorff space which vanish at infinity. Next, we begin with the development of the representation theory of C*-algebras which culminates with the famous (noncommutative) Gelfand-Naimark theorem which states that every C*-algebra can be realized as a closed, self-adjoint, subalgebra of algebra of bounded operators on some Hilbert space. After that, the emphasis is given to the study of C*-algebras of compact operators, where we completely describe the representations of C*-algebras of compact operators and thus we deduce their structural theorem.

Isingov model je matematički model uveden kao pojednostavljeni prikaz feromagnetizma u statističkoj fizici i kao takav bavi se fizikom faznih prijelaza. Model sadrži varijable diskretnih vrijednosti ±1, koje predstavljaju magnetske dipolne momente atoma – spinove. Osnovna pretpostavka modela je interakcija spina samo s njegovim najbližim susjedima. U jednodimenzionalnom Isingovom modelu pokazuje se nepostojanje faznoga prijelaza, osim pri temperaturi apsolutne nule. Landauova teorija faznih prijelaza dovodi do zaključka da se u dvodimenzionalnom Isingovom modelu javlja fazni prijelaz drugoga reda pri prelasku sistema iz feromagnetske u paramagnetsku fazu. Monte Carlo simulacijom generira se kvadratna rešetka dvodimenzionalnog Isingovog modela te se računaju termodinamičke veličine prosječne energije, magnetizacije i toplinskog kapaciteta, čija interpretacija dovodi do zaključka o pojavi i vrsti faznoga prijelaza. The Ising model is a mathematical model introduced as a simplified representation of ferromagnetism in statistical physics and, as such, is concerned with the physics of phase transitions. The model consists of variables with discrete values ±1 that represent magnetic dipole moments of atoms - spins. The model assumes that each spin has only nearestneighbour interaction. Phase transition in the one-dimensional Ising model does not occur except at absolute zero temperature. Landau’s theory of phase transitions leads to the conclusion that in the two-dimensional Ising model, a phase transition of the second order occurs during the system’s transition from the ferromagnetic to the paramagnetic phase. Monte Carlo simulation generates a square lattice of the two-dimensional Ising model and calculates the thermodynamic quantities of average energy, magnetization and heat capacity, the interpretation of which leads to a conclusion about the occurrence and type of phase transition.

U ovom radu proučavaju se metrički kontinuumi i neka njihova svojstva. Izlažu su rezultati iz područja opće topologije i teorije metričkih prostora potrebni za razumijevanje teme, te se navode primjeri Peanovih i ne-Peanovih kontinuuma. Kao pomoćni alat, promatraju se lukovi i izvodi se topološka karakterizacija lukova utemeljena na pojmu reznih točaka. Detaljnije se proučavaju Peanovi kontinuumi, uvodi se pojam lanaca i dokazuje se da su svi Peanovi kontinuumi povezani lukovima. Metric continua and some of their properties are studied in this thesis. Results from the areas of point-set topology and metric space theory necessary for understanding the subject are presented, followed by examples of both Peano and non-Peano continua. Arcs are introduced as an auxiliary tool, and a topological characterisation is obtained using the concept of cut points. Peano continua are then studied in more detail, with the introduction of the concept of chains and the proof that all Peano continua are arcwise connected.

U ovome radu se bavimo proučavanjem izražajne snage jezika SQL, najviše u pogledu nemogućnosti iskazivanja rekurzivnih upita u jezgrenom dijelu SQL-a koji pokriva standard jezika iz 1992. godine. Granice izražajnosti postavljamo pomoću svojstva lokalnosti upita te dajemo skicu dokaza teorema o lokalnosti upita, koristeći pritom proširenje relacijske algebre agregatima, logiku s agregatima i logiku s brojanjem. Bavimo se važnim dodatkom jeziku SQL u standardu iz 1999. godine rekurzijom, te se osvrćemo na ograničenja vezana uz zadavanje rekurzivnih upita u tom standardu. U prvom poglavlju definiramo pojmove vezane uz relacijski model baza podataka i operatora relacijske algebre. Na konkretnom primjeru baze podataka prikazujemo djelovanje definiranih operatora. U drugom poglavlju opisujemo djelovanje operatora jezgrene verzije SQL-a koristeći pritom bazu podataka iz prvog poglavlja. Dajemo i kratak pregled povijesti SQL-a u pogledu standardizacije jezika. U zadnjem dijelu poglavlja bavimo se rekurzijom, motivacijom za uvodenje rekurzije i praktičnim primjenama rekurzivnih upita. U trećem i završnom poglavlju uvodimo proširenje relacijske algebre agregatnim funkcijama, grupiranjem i aritmetičkim operacijama u oznaci ALG\(_\text{aggr}\). Uvodimo pojam lokalnosti i iskazujemo rezultate o izražajnoj snazi SQL-a koristeći to svojstvo. U nastavku poglavlja dajemo skicu dokaza važnog rezultata (teorem 3.3.8), uvodeći pritom dva jezika za postavljanje upita bazirana na logici - logike \(\mathcal{L}_\text{aggr}\) i \(\mathcal{L}_\text{C}\). Na kraju poglavlja iskazujemo ograničenja vezana za zadavanje rekurzivnih upita te se bavimo svojstvima upita poput monotonosti, linearnosti, egzistencije i jedinstvenosti fiksne točke i slično. In this paper, we deal with examining the expressive power of the SQL language, mostly in regards to the inability to express recursive queries in the core SQL language which encompasses the standard from 1992. Expressiveness boundaries are set using the feature of locality. We provide a draft of the proof of the locality of queries by using the extension of relational algebra via aggregates, aggregate logic and counting logic. We deal with an important addition to the SQL language in the standard from 1999 recursion, as well as consider the limits related to defining recursive queries in that standard. In the first chapter, we define terms related to the relational database model and relational algebra operators. We showcase the effect of the defined operators by giving a practical example. In the second chapter, we describe the effect of core SQL operators while using the database examples from the first chapter. We also provide a short overview of the history of SQL with regards to language standardization. In the last part of the chapter we deal with recursion, the motivation for introducing recursion and give practical examples of recursive queries. In the third and final chapter, we introduce the extension of relational algebra via aggregate functions, grouping and arithmetic operations, denoted by ALG\(_\text{aggr}\). We introduce the notion of locality and use it to state the results of the expressive power of SQL. Furthermore, we provide a sketch of the proof of an important result (theorem 3.3.8), while also introducing two query languages based on logic - \(\mathcal{L}_\text{aggr}\) and \(\mathcal{L}_\text{C}\). At the end of the chapter, we showcase the limitations related to defining recursive queries and also deal with query features such as monotonicity, linearity, the existence and uniqueness of a fixed point, etc.

U ovome radu upoznali smo se s pojmom stohastičkih diferencijalnih jednadžbi i njenim primjenama. Podsjetili smo se gradiva teorije vjerojatnosti potrebnog za razumijevanje ovog rada. Upoznali smo se s Brownovim gibanjem, stohastičkim procesom čija je ”derivacija“ upravo ”bijeli šum “ podataka koji se često pojavljuje prilikom modeliranja parcijalnim diferencijalnim jednadžbama nekog problema iz stvarnoga svijeta. Kao osnovne pojmove za ovu tematiku uveli su se Itov integral i Itova formula. Opisano je kako izgledaju stohastičke diferencijalne jednadžbe, te je stavljen naglasak na egzistenciji i jedinstvenosti njihovog rješenja, te dokaz navedene tvrdnje. Na samome kraju rada obrađeno je nekoliko primjena teorije gdje se prikazao jedan dio upotrebe stohastičkih diferencijalnih jednadžbi u rješavanju problema koji se pojavljuju u praksi. In this paper, we were introduced to the term stochastic differential equation and its applications. We have recalled the foundations of probability theory necessary for understanding this thesis. We were introduced to Brownian motion, a stochastic process whose ”derivative” is the ”white noise” of data that often appears in modeling real-world problems with partial differential equations. The Ito integral and the Ito formula were introduced as basic concepts for this topic. It is described what stochastic differential equations look like and emphasis is placed on the existence and uniqueness of their solution, as well as the proof of the stated statement. At the very end of the paper, several applications of the theory were discussed, where one part of the use of stochastic differential equations in solving problems arising from the real world was presented.

U ovom diplomskom radu opisana je Galoisova teorija te je ista primijenjena na klasične konstrukcijske probleme u geometriji - trisekciju kuta, duplikaciju kocke, kvadraturu kruga te konstrukciju pravilnog sedmerokuta. Rad se sastoji od tri cjeline. Prvi dio služi kao podsjetnik na važne definicije i teoreme potrebne za bolje razumijevanje same Galoisove teorije. U drugoj cjelini uvodimo Galoisovu teoriju koja se razvila iz klasičnog problema teorije polinomijalnih jednadžbi. Glavna ideja Galoisove teorije je povezati proširenje polja K ⊂ F s grupom svih automorfizama od F koji fiksiraju elemente polja K, odnosno Galoisovom grupom proširenja polja K. O postojanju bijekcije između ova dva spomenuta skupa govori upravo Fundamentalni teorem Galoisove teorije. U zadnjem, trećem dijelu, ovog rada primijenili smo opisanu teoriju na konstrukcijske probleme i algebarski dokazali kako konstrukcije uistinu nisu moguće. In this thesis, Galois theory is described and applied to classical construction problems in geometry - angle trisection, doubling the cube, squaring the circle and construction of a regular heptagon. The work consists of three parts. The first part serves as a reminder of important definitions and theories necessary for a better understanding of Galois theory itself. In the second unit, we introduce the Galois theory, the origin of which begins with a classical problem in the theory of polynomial equations. The main idea of the Galois theory is to connect the field extension K ⊂ F to the group of all automorphisms of F that fix the elements of the field K, in other words, to the Galois group of the field extension K. The existence of a one-to-one correspondence between these two mentioned sets is exactly what the Fundamental theorem of Galois theory says. In the last, the third part of this paper, we applied the described theory to construction problems and proved algebraically that constructions are truly impossible.

Cilj ovog rada bio je prikazati primjenu neglatke optimizacije u teoriji portfelja. Najprije smo dali pregled teorije koja je vezana uz povrate portfelja, njihove distribucije, učinkovitost i rizičnost. Nakon toga smo prikazali najpoznatije mjere rizika koje se koriste u optimizaciji portfelja te sugerirali korištenje mjere CVaR jer je koherentna i može se koristiti u situacijama kada gubici nisu normalno distribuirani. U drugome poglavlju prikazali smo model optimizacije portfelja u kontekstu mjere rizika CVaR. Budući da izraz za CVaR sadrži funkciju \(x^+=\max (0,x) \), to je problem neglatke optimizacije. Rješavanju problema moguće je pristupiti na dva načina: transformirati zadaću u problem linearnog programiranja ili direktno riješiti zadaću pogodnom metodom neglatke optimizacije. U radu smo predstavili oba načina, uz poseban naglasak na direktnu primjenu diskretne gradijentne metode. Takav pristup daje učinkovitije rješenje, pogotovo u situacijama kada želimo pronaći optimalne portfelje, a promatramo veliki broj scenarija. The aim of this thesis was to show application of non-smooth optimization in portfolio theory. First we gave an overview on theory which is related to portfolio returns, distribution of returns, efficiency and riskiness. After that we introduced the most popular risk measures in portfolio optimization and suggested use of CVaR because it is coherent and it can be used even if distribution of returns is not normal. In the second chapter we described portfolio optimization model in the context of CVaR measure. Since expression for CVaR contains a function \(x^+=\max (0,x) \), it is a non-smooth optimization problem. To solve this problem, one could use two ways: transform the problem into a linear programming model or directly solve the problem using an appropriate non-smooth method. In this thesis we introduced both ways, with special emphasis on direct application of discrete gradient method. Such approach gives a more efficient solution, especially when we want to find optimal solution for portfolios with large number of scenarios.

Ovaj diplomski rad bavi se opisivanjem modela rizika u aktuarstvu. Obrađuju se individualni i kolektivni model rizika. Oba modela opisuju ukupni iznos zahtjeva S (tj. skupnu štetu) koji proizlaze iz danog portfelja polica osiguranja u nekom fiksnom vremenskom periodu. U radu se, za oba modela, predstavljaju egzaktne i aproksimativne tehnike koje se koriste pri određivanju funkcije distribucije slučajne varijable S . Za kolektivni model se izvodi Panjerova rekurzivna formula za egzaktno računanje funkcije distribucije od S . Također, funkcija distribucije od S se aproksimira normalnom i translatiranom gama distribucijom. Za individualni model se izvodi De Prilova rekurzivna formula kao egzaktna metoda. Od aproksimativnih metoda je prikazana Kornyina metoda te aproksimacija složenom Poissonovom distribucijom. This thesis introduces risk models in actuarial science. Models that are described are individual and collective risk models. Both models describe total claim amount S (i.e. total damage) that arises from a given portfolio of insurance policies in a fixed period of time. Thesis presents both exact and approximative techniques used to determine the distribution function of random variable S . For the collective model the Panjer’s recursive formula is being developed for exact calculating of the distribution function of S . Also, the distribution function of S is approximated by normal and translated gamma distribution. For the individual model De Pril’s recursive method is being developed as an exact method. Approximative methods that are shown are Kornya’s method and compound Poisson approximation.

U ovom radu proučavamo i implementiramo rješavanje simetričnog svojstvenog problema metodom Podijeli-pa-vladaj. Izvodimo samu metodu i navodimo bitne rezultate koji opisuju njezine karakteristike. Navodimo rezultate dobivene testiranjem implementacije algoritma u C++-u na nekoliko različitih primjera matrica. In this thesis we study the solving of symmetric eigenproblem using Divide-and conquer method. We derive the method and present some important results that describe its characteristics. After that, we proceed by presenting the results obtained by testing the implementation of the algorithm in C++ on several different examples of matrices.

Cilj ovog rada je predstaviti novu strategiju prosječne ciljane inflacije ukomponiranu u temeljni model monetarne politike. Središnje banke su počele s preispitivanjem dosadašnjeg modela monetarne politike koji je za cilj imao dostizanje godišnje ciljane stope inflacije. Preispitivanjem su došli do odluke o promjeni načina na koji postižu svoj cilj. U prvom poglavlju diplomskog rada opisao sam Novokeynesijanski model u slučaju donje granice kamatne stope kojeg koristim kao temeljni model za analizu. Nakon postavljanja modela, u drugom poglavlju, uveo sam motivaciju koja stoji iza potrebe za promjenom i opisao sam metodu prosječne ciljane inflacije kao i par njenih izvedbi. Konačno, temeljem opisanog modela i ukomponirane nove strategije iznesao sam rezultate usporedbe politike ciljane prosječne inflacije u odnosu na dosadašnji model s ciljanom inflacijom. The goal of this thesis was to present a new strategy of average inflation targeting integrated into the basic model of monetary policy. Central banks have begun to review the current model of monetary policy, which aimed to reach the annual target rate of inflation. By questioning, they came to the decision to change the way of achieving their goal. In the first chapter of this thesis, I described the New Keynesian model in the case of the lower bound of the interest rate, which I use as a basic model for the analysis. After setting up the model, in the second chapter, I introduced the motivation behind the need for change and described the average inflation targeting method as well as a couple of its implementations. Finally, based on the described model and the new integrated strategy, I presented the results of the comparison of the average inflation targeting in relation to the current model with inflation targeting policy.

Iako Blockchain i distribuirane knjige nisu novi koncepti, moderna tehnologija daje im novi život. Ona otvara nove mogućnosti sigurne bankarske i trgovinske aktivnosti uklanjanjem nepotrebnih posrednika te koristeći složene kriptografske alate. U današnjem svijetu, sigurnost podataka korisnika stavlja se u sve veći plan pa time dolazi do prepoznavanje potencijala ovakve digitalne revolucije. Stoga se Blockchain tehnologija nameće kao optimalno rješenje. Počevši od digitalnih valuta, Blockchain tehnologija ostvarila je značajan napredak u posljednjem desetljeću. S razvojem informatičkih tehnologija kriptovalute su postale sve važniji faktor te dovode u prvi plan sve mogućnosti blockchain tehnologije. Dok se decentraliziranost i neregularnost sustava smatra najvećom prednosti, također vuče za sobom olakšanu manipulaciju podacima unutar lanca gdje se javlja potreba za pojačanom enkripcijom podataka te algoritmima konsenzusa radi očuvanja integriteta. Omogućena dobrom podlogom od strane tehnologije, blockchain bi se, u budućnosti, u školstvu i drugim raznim institucijama mogao naći kao sastavni dio svakodnevice. Primjena blockchain tehnologije te realizacija direktnih umjesto centraliziranih transakcija može uvelike uvesti promjene u društveno-ekonomski svijet. Although Blockchain and distributed ledgers are not new concepts, modern technology is giving them new life. It opens up new possibilities for secure banking and trading activity by removing unnecessary intermediaries and using complex cryptographic tools. In today’s world, the security of users’ data is increasingly important, so the potential of this digital revolution is being recognized. Therefore, Blockchain technology imposes as the optimal solution. Starting with digital currency, Blockchain technology has made significant progress in the last decade. With the development of IT technologies, cryptocurrencies have become an increasingly important factor and bring all the possibilities of blockchain technology to the fore. While the system’s decentralization and irregularity are considered the greatest advantage, it also entails easy data manipulation within the chain. Therefore, there arises the need for increased data encryption and consensus algorithms to preserve its integrity. Enabled by a good foundation from technology, blockchain could be found as an integral part of everyday life in schools and other various institutions in the future. The application of blockchain technology and the realization of direct instead of centralized transactions can greatly introduce changes in the socio-economic world.

U ovom radu bavimo se izborom potrošača. Izbor potrošača opisujemo preko preferencija među objektima. U prvom poglavlju opisujemo izbor potrošača preko relacije preferencije, iz koje definiramo funkcije korisnosti svakog potrošača. Iskazujemo glavni teorem poglavlja koji nam govori o ekvivalenciji pojmova izbora potrošača, preferencije te funkcije korisnosti. U drugom poglavlju opisujemo kako se funkcija korisnosti mijenja kada uvedemo neizvjesnost pri donošenju odluka. Objašnjavamo modele koji se razlikuju da li je model temeljen na nekim objektivnim neizvjesnostima, odnosno neizvjesnosti kojima poznajemo učestalost događaja, ili subjektivnim neizvjesnostima tj. neizvjesnosti kod kojih potrošač donosi izbor na temelju svojih subjektivnih uvjerenja. U zadnjem poglavlju promatramo modele funkcije korisnosti za najčešće korištenu primjenu, a to je maksimizacija novca. Uvodimo pojam sklonosti riziku preko kojeg opisujemo funkciju korisnosti potrošača i gledamo kako se mijenja izbor potrošača s obzirom na njegov stav prema riziku, tj. koliko je potrošač spreman preuzeti rizik. Za kraj objašnjavamo kako se funkcija korisnosti može primijeniti u poslovima osiguranja. In this thesis we deal with consumer’s choice. We describe the consumer’s choice using object preferences. In the first chapter, we describe consumer’s choice using preference relation, from which we define consumer’s utility function. We express the main theorem of the chapter, which explains equivalence between terms of consumer’s choice, preferecne and utility function. In the second chapter we describe how the utility function changes when we introduce uncertainty in decision making. We describe models which differ if the model is based on objective uncertainties i.e. uncertainties in which we know the event occurance, or subjective uncertainties, i.e. uncertainties in which the consumer makes decisions based on his subjective beliefs. In the last chapter, we observe utility function models for the most common use, the use of money maximization. We introduce the therm of risk tolerance, through which we describe the consumer’s utility function and observe how consumer’s decision making is changed based on his risk tolerence i.e. how much risk is the consumer willing to take. In the end, we explain how the utility function can be used in the business insurance.

U posljednje vrijeme sve je veći interes za proučavanjem odrednica ostvarenja proračuna kako u drugim zemljama i regijama, tako i u RH. Cilj ovog diplomskog rada bio je odrediti koje bi mogle biti odrednice ostvarenja proračuna te kakav je njihov utjecaj. Koristeći se dokazima iz raznih radova na podacima drugih zemalja kao što su Makedonija i Poljska, formirane su hipoteze te testirane na podacima za RH. Prva hipoteza želi utvrditi imaju li lokalne jedinice većih proračunskih prihoda veće kapitalne izdatke, veće rashode za plaće te veću proračunsku transparentnost. Cilj druge hipoteze jest utvrditi ima li veličina populacije pozitivan učinak na ukupne porezne prihode lokalne jedinice. U trećoj se hipotezi želi ispitati postoji li statistički značajna pozitivna veza između dohotka te kapitalne pomoći proračunu i proračunskih rashoda lokalne jedinice, te postoji li statistički značajna negativna veza između gustoće stanovništva i proračunskih rashoda lokalne jedinice. Četvrta hipoteza govori da lokalne jedinice s većom proračunskom transparentnosti imaju veće proračunske rashode. U petoj se hipotezi želi utvrditi znači li li veći proračunski prihod lokalne jedinice manju vjerojatnost ostvarenja proračunskog deficita. Također, ispituje vrijedi li da što je veći broj poduzeća i radne snage, to se šanse za ostvarenje proračunskog deficita povećavaju. Prije testiranja hipoteza nacrtani su grafovi zavisnih i nezavisnih varijabli te su uočene relacije pomoću kojih se lako pretpostave ishodi formalnog testiranja. Zaključeno je da što su veći rashodi za plaće po stanovniku, to su veći proračunski prihodi po stanovniku u županijama, gradovima te općinama. Također, u svim lokalnim jedinicama i županijama vrijedi i da što je veći broj stanovnika, to su veći ukupni porezni prihodi. Što su veće kapitalne pomoći proračunu po stanovniku, to su veći proračunski rashodi po stanovniku takoder u svim županijama, gradovima i općinama. Na kraju zaklju čeno je da u svim lokalnim jedinicama te županijama vrijedi da veća gustoća stanovni šta znači manje proračunske rashode po stanovniku. Zadnje poglavlje diplomskog rada posvećeno je testiranju hipoteza koje su dale iduće rezultate: Pokazano je da županije s većim proračunskim prihodima imaju veće kapitalne izdatke dok gradovi i općine koje imaju ne samo veće kapitalne izdatke već i veće rashode za plaće imaju veće proračunske prihode. Što se tiče poreznih prihoda, pokazano je da sve lokalne jedinice i županije s većim brojem stanovnika imaju veće ukupne porezne prihode. Takoder, pokazano je da županije s većim kapitalnim pomoćima proračunu imaju veće proračunske rashode. Gradovi s većim kapitalnikm pomoćima proračunu i većim dohotkom imaju veće proračunske rashode. Za općine je pokazana ista tvrdnja ali vrijedi još i da općine s većom gustoćom stanovništva imaju manje proračunske rashode. Na kraju se pokazalo da kod gradova i općina kako rastu proračunski rashodi, tako i raste vjerojatnost ostvarenja proračunskog deficita. Zaključci ovog diplomskog rada mogu se doraditi, hipoteze bi se mogle testirati i na svim lokalnim jedinicama zajedno te bi se u hipoteze mogle dodavati razne nove nezavisne varijable. Iznesena testiranja i rezultati mogu pomoći boljim predviđanjima proračuna u narednoj godini pa samim time i njegovom boljem iskorištenju. Recently, there has been a growing interest in studying the determinants of budget realization both in other countries and regions, as well as in the Republic of Croatia. The aim of this thesis was to determine what could be the determinants of budget realization and what their influence is. Using evidence from various works on data from other countries such as Macedonia and Poland, hypotheses were formed and tested on data for the Republic of Croatia. The first hypothesis seeks to determine whether local units with higher budget revenues have higher capital expenditures, higher wage expenditures, and higher budget transparency. The goal of the second hypothesis is to determine whether the size of the population has a positive effect on the total tax revenues of the local unit. The third hypothesis aims to examine whether there is a statistically significant positive relationship between income and capital aid to the budget and budget expenditures of the local unit, and whether there is a statistically significant negative relationship between population density and budget expenditures of the local unit. The fourth hypothesis states that local units with greater budget transparency have higher budget expenditures. The fifth hypothesis aims to determine whether a higher budget income of a local unit means a lower probability of a budget deficit. It also examines whether it is true that the greater the number of companies and the workforce, the greater the chances of achieving a budget deficit. Before testing the hypotheses, graphs of dependent and independent variables were drawn, and relations were observed, with the help of which the results of formal testing can be easily assumed. It was concluded that the higher the expenditures for salaries per inhabitant, the higher the budget revenues per inhabitant in counties, cities and municipalities. Also, in all local units and counties, the larger the number of inhabitants, the higher the total tax revenues. The higher the capital aid to the budget per inhabitant, the higher the budget expenditure per inhabitant also in all counties, cities and municipalities. In the end, it was concluded that in all local units and counties, higher population density means lower budget expenditures per inhabitant. The last chapter of the thesis is dedicated to testing the hypotheses that gave the following results: It was shown that counties with higher budget revenues have higher capital expenditures, while cities and municipalities that have not only higher capital expenditures but also higher expenditures for salaries have higher budget revenues. As for tax revenues, it was shown that all local units and counties with a larger number of inhabitants have higher total tax revenues. Also, it was shown that counties with larger capital grants to the budget have larger budget expenditures. Cities with higher capital grants to the budget and higher income have higher budget expenditures. The same statement was shown for municipalities, but it is also true that municipalities with a higher population density have lower budget expenditures. In the end, it turned out that as budget expenditures grow in cities and municipalities, so does the probability of a budget deficit. The conclusions of this thesis can be refined, the hypotheses could be tested on all local units together, and various new independent variables could be added to the hypotheses. The presented tests and results can help to make better predictions of the budget in the coming year and, therefore, to make better use of it.
