International audience; The development of efficient hydrogen production technologies is fundamental for replacing fossil fuel-based energies. As such, electrocatalysts derived from earth abundant metal complexes are appealing, and interesting performances have typically been disclosed under acidic conditions in organic solvents. However, their applicability under relevant pH neutral conditions is underexplored. Herein, we demonstrate that non-ionic, dimeric cobalt-dithiolene complexes supported on multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs)/carbon paper (CP) electrode are powerful electrocatalysts for hydrogen production in aqueous media at pH 7. The high turnover numbers encountered (TON up to 50980) after long reaction times (up to 16 hours) are reasoned by the increased electro-active cobalt concentration on the modified electrode, which is ca. 4 times higher than that of a state-of-the-art cobalt porphyrin electrocatalyst. These findings point out that immobilizing well-defined, multinuclear low cost metal complexes on carbon material is a promising strategy to design highly electroactive electrodes enabling production of green energies.

International audience; Metal-bis(dithiolene) complexes derived from Ni(II), Co(II), Pd(II), Pt(II) and Au(III), bearing butyl aliphatic chains have been synthesized, and fully characterized by a variety of spectroscopic techniques including NMR, UV-vis, IR, HRMS, CV, and X-ray diffraction studies. This comparative study made possible to establish that the Co(II) species appear to be dimeric in the solid state as well as in solution. On the other hand, the coordination complexes based on Ni(II), Pd(II), Pt(II) and Au(II), feature a monomeric structure in both solution and solid state. These metal-bis(dithiolene) complexes are remarkably stable in solution and, in stark contrast to precedents in the literature, they retain their square planar geometry even in presence of pyridine derivatives reported for their apical binding on metal-bis(dithiolene) complexes.

Ouvrage issu d'un colloque de Cerisy (2019); International audience; Dans ce chapitre nous proposons un retour critique sur les débats qui ont traversé le colloque qui s'est tenu au Centre culturel international de Cerisy-la-Salle du 16 au 22 septembre 2019. Intitulé « Sciences Techniques et Agricultures », le colloque s'est ouvert sur l'expression d'une volonté de répondre aux « grands défis sociétaux » et de contribuer aux « transformations des mondes contemporains ». Doublée d'une interrogation quant aux possibilités et aux manières de le faire en tant que chercheurs s'intéressant à l'agriculture, l'introduction des organisateurs a été largement partagée par leurs invités. Agronomes, écologues, zootechniciens, sociologues, anthropologues, économistes, philosophes, biologistes, juristes et politistes ont présenté et débattu de leurs travaux durant une semaine marquée par l'ambition de concourir au changement et par des préoccupations quant au sens du métier de chercheur. Ce colloque de Cerisy a consisté en plusieurs journées de discussions, certaines dans l'enceinte du château éponyme, d'autres hors les murs. Ces déplacements visaient à ouvrir des espaces de dialogue permettant de penser la place des sciences et des techniques en agriculture par-delà les frontières du monde académique. Toutefois, que ces échanges aient eu lieu entre nous (invités au colloque) ou avec d'autres (agriculteurs, enseignants et élèves d'un lycée agricole voisin, entrepreneurs d'innovation), qu'ils se soient tenus dans un des bâtiments du château, dans la cour d'une ferme, dans un hall technologique ou dans l'amphithéâtre du lycée, il n'a pas toujours été facile d'engager une conversation, c'est-à-dire de créer une relation sociale permettant d'articuler différentes visions du monde [Haraway, 1988].

Depuis quelques années on voit surgir dans les villes des expériences qui réinventent sur des modes collectifs la tradition des anciens potagers urbains. En se glissant dans les interstices de la ville, sur des terrains oubliés, dans l’angle mort de barres d’immeubles ou sur les toits des bâtiments, elles interrompent « le long orphelinat » des bâtiments sans âme dont la fureur immobilière a le secret. À partir de Bruxelles, où existait déjà une tradition de maraîchage spécialisé et de jardins ouvriers, l’ouvrage retrace l’histoire de la ville nourricière et des combats qu’elle suppose, et témoigne des expériences nouvelles, quelquefois victorieuses du béton, le temps de reprendre son souffle et sa bêche.

The hypothesis of an electromagnetic origin of idiopathic environmental intolerance (IEI) attributed to electromagnetic fields (EMF) has been widely investigated by provocation studies, which consist of deliberately exposing people with IEI‐EMF in laboratory settings to particular EMF to observe volunteers’ reactions. In the majority of these studies, reactions have been found to be independent of exposure. However, most of these studies suffer from design and methodological limitations that might bias their findings or reduce their precision. As provocation studies are best suited for isolating the effects of EMF, innovative protocols should be applied. In the ExpoComm project (PNREST Anses, EST/2017/2 RF/19), several innovations have been introduced: the involvement of people with IEI‐EMF in the development of the protocol, the attenuation of the anxiogenic nature of the tests, the individualization of the protocol, the validation of the neutral or normal reactivity state before the test, and the use of a cocktail of real, rather than artificially generated, sources. The objective of involving people with IEI‐EMF was to increase the relevance and acceptability of the protocol, while respecting technical constraints and scientific quality requirements. A pedagogical tool which reorganizes educational time and space thanks to the use of new technologies, the Flipped Classroom has generated great enthusiasm in education. Given the rapid development of this instructional approach at the secondary level in France, this research looks at the appropriation of the flipped classroom by French high school students and questions the dynamics created for the learner navigating in a flipped setting. Using questionnaires and semi-directive interviews conducted with 8 high school classes, an exploratory analysis was done to understand the evolution of students’ relationship to knowledge and how they reposition themselves in relation to their teacher. It appears that the flipped classroom approach is more of an instrument to serve teachers’ needs than a change agent for students. Beyond its impact on student motivation, which differs from one student to another, the Flipped Classroom approach seems to come within the scope of the redistribution of roles at the high school level, placing the student in a situation of tension between submission and responsibility concerning his/her learning.; Dispositif pédagogique qui réorganise temps et espaces scolaires grâce aux fonctionnalités des outils numériques, la classe inversée suscite un engouement important dans les sphères de l’éducation. Dans un contexte de développement rapide de cette pratique dans l’enseignement secondaire français, cette recherche s’intéresse à l’appropriation du dispositif par des élèves de lycée et interroge la dynamique créée chez les apprenants engagés dans une classe inversée. A travers de questionnaires et d’entretiens menés auprès d’élèves de huit classes de lycée, une analyse exploratoire a été conduite pour comprendre l’évolution des rapports au savoir des apprenants, ainsi que le repositionnement de l’élève face à l’enseignant dans la relation pédagogique. Il apparaît que le dispositif est un instrument au service du professeur plus qu’un levier de changement pour les élèves. Si l'utopie, chère à Alphonse Allais, de construire les villes à la campagne n'a pu se concrétiser, on a vu surgir depuis quelques années des expériences de "campagne à la ville", dans la tradition des anciens potagers urbains, ayant pour objectif d'interrompre "le long orphelinat" des bâtiments sans âme dont la fureur immobilière a le secret. Ces friches surgissent sur des terrains oubliés, dans l'angle mort de barres d'immeubles ou sur les toits et renouvellent l'idée de la ville-jardin. A partir de l'histoire de Bruxelles, où existait déjà une tradition de jardin ouvriers, l'ouvrage retrace l'histoire de cette "idée" et des combats qu'elle suppose dans l'univers impitoyable de la promotion immobilière, et témoigne des expériences nouvelles, victorieuses du béton des grands ensembles.

Translator's introduction : At the end of July 2014 there was a week-long workshop held at the Ecole des Mines in Paris, Bruno Latour's former work-place. This was a final workshop, convened by Latour's project, An Inquiry into Modes of Existence, which was not only a book, but a website that was an experiment in interactive metaphysics that had been going on for four years. About 30 participants gathered to workshop and rewrite some key contested areas that had been challenged on the site with discussions and counter-examples. One of the round tables working away during the week, occasionally with changes in personnel, was on Nature. Their job (like the other round tables on Politics, Diplomacy, Religion and Economics) was to ‘reboot’ or reinstitute a concept close to the heart of the Moderns. The assumption was that the traditional concept of nature, as developed through modern European history, would no longer be adequate to a future beset by environmental crises. The main people working on a draft were Didier Debaise, Pablo Jensen, Pierre Montebello, Nicolas Prignot, Isabelle Stengers and Aline Wiame. When they finished the draft, I translated it and it was presented, in French and English, in a final two-day public session at Science Po, to a group of seven international scholars designated as “charges d'affaires,” or “diplomats from the future” whose job was to assess the results of our labours in terms of how they might be met by Gaia, the ur-representative of future planetary crises.
