2. Scale Formation Minimization on Internal Surface of Seamless Hot-Rolled Pipes.

Abstract

Requirements for the process of pipe production operations, which reduce the formation of hard-to-remove scale on internal surface, have been developed. According to the study results of chemical reaction features of deoxidizing materials with scale on the internal shell surface, these requirements are based on the flow process analysis of the production of seamless hot-rolled pipes in the lines of contemporary pipe-rolling plants with mandrel mills and in heat treatment areas. A series of experimental pipe rolling has been carried out on the plants of PAO TMK using the INCOAT technology and equipment of SMS group Company (Germany). The results of the work have confirmed the inhibition effectiveness of active scale formation on the internal shell surface through combination of piercing and treatment of the internal shell surface with deoxidizing material. Abstract

A study is made of the effect of the degree of ovality of the passes in the finishing stands of an FQM mill on the accuracy and deformation characteristics of the rolled product with the use of a system of 384-mm passes. The transverse distribution of wall-thickness at the outlet of the deformation zone in the fourth and fifth stands is determined for different degrees of ovality of the finishing-stand passes. Relations are obtained to calculate the degree to which the mandrel is enveloped by the metal, the increase in the thickness of the semifinished product, and its spreading for different pass ovalities in the finishing stands of the FQM mill. It is established that it is best to regulate pass ovality in the leader stand in order to significantly improve the accuracy of the rolled pipe's geometric dimensions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Представлен анализ технологии производства бесшовных труб на трубопрокатных агрегатах с непрерывными пятиклетевыми трёхвалковыми оправочными станами типа PQF, FQM. Проведено исследование влияния величины овальности калибров чистовых клетей непрерывного стана FQM на формоизменение раската при прокатке. На основании результатов моделирования технологии прокатки в программном продукте Deform-3D получен характер распределения толщины стенки раската по периметру поперечного сечения очага деформации на выходе из пятой клети стана FQM в зависимости от величины овальности чистовых калибров. Получен характер изменения толщины стенки раската в выпуске калибра (на линии разъёма валков) и в зоне выпусков. Определено влияние овальности чистовых калибров на показатель уширения раската, окова оправки металлом, абсолютную разнотолщинность стенки по периметру очага деформации. Наименьшая величина абсолютной разнотолщинности, утолщения по выпуску калибра, поля допуска по толщине стенки получена при использовании калибра с овальностью 1,03. Показатель уширения раската, площадь раската в обжимной зоне калибра, величина угла окова оправки металлом принимают максимальные значения при использовании калибра с овальностью 1,03. Переполнение калибров отсутствовало на всех этапах моделирования. Analysis of the production technology of seamless pipes for pipe-rolling units with continuous type PQF, FQM mills was carried out. Investigation of the influence of ovality value of finishing caliber of three-roll continuous mandrel FQM mill on rolled product forming was performed. Based on the results of simulation of rolling technology in “Deform-3D” software the distribution of the wall thickness of the rolled product along the perimeter of the cross-section of the deformation zone at the outlet of the fifth stand of FQM mill was obtained as a function of the value of caliber ovality. The changing of the wall thickness of the rolled product in the taper of groove (on the parting line of the rolls) and in the outlet zone was obtained. Influence of the ovality of finishing caliber on the value of broadening of the rolled product, the contact zone between mandrel and rolled product, and the absolute non-uniformity of the wall thickness along the perimeter of the deformation zone was determined. The lowest absolute non-uniformity of the wall thickness, thickening at the taper of the groove, and tolerance zone of the wall thickness was obtained when the caliber with the ovality of 1.03 was used. The rolled product broadening coefficient, the area of the product in the deformation zone, the angle of contact between mandrel and rolled product also have maximum values for the caliber with ovality of 1.03. No overfill of the caliber was observed at all stages of simulation. 7. An assay for pro-oxidant reactivity based on phenoxyl radicals generated by laccase.

Abstract

A transient species may be detected with UV-vis and EPR spectroscopy during turnover of a laccase with quercetin; this species is assigned as a quercetin-derived radical, based on EPR spectra as well the observed UV-vis similarities (a 540nm centred band) with previously reported data. The rates of formation and decay of this species correlate well (r=0.9946) with the pro-oxidant reactivity manifested by flavonoids in the presence of laccase. An assay for the pro-oxidant reactivity of natural products is hence proposed based on the results reported here; its application is demonstrated for a series of pure compounds as well as for several propolis extracts. This assay has the advantages of using a biologically relevant process (haemoglobin oxidation), and not requiring the addition of oxidising agents such as peroxide or superoxide. Correlations, or the lack thereof, between the pro-oxidant parameters and the redox potentials, antioxidant capacities and lipophilicities, were analysed. The laccase employed in our study does display reactivity-related similarities to a range of other proteins, including human plasma ceruloplasmin., (Copyright © 2013 Elsevier Ltd.
