Purpose: Optimal ankle dorsiflexion range of motion plays a vital role in attaining the essential crouched posture necessary for excelling in speed skating. The purpose of this study was to determine how the ankle dorsiflexion angle evolves throughout a day of training and to identify the factors that influence this angle. Methods: Thirty short-track speed skaters, from 2 teams, participated in this study. The maximum ankle dorsiflexion angle was obtained in a lunge position facing a wall, using a digital inclinometer. All measures were obtained 3 times per side, 6 times per day, on 2 training days separated by at least a week. We conducted multiple tests to study the impact of repetition, day, side, team level, sex, and moment on the ankle dorsiflexion angle. Results: The 3 times repeated measures and the 2 days of training did not have a significant influence on the results. There was a statistically significant difference between the first time point of the day and the 5 other time points for both ankles. Moreover, the influence of sex and team level was not statistically significant. Conclusions: The results indicate that there are significant changes in ankle dorsiflexion range of motion but only after the first warm-up of the day. Such findings could enable team staff to enhance athletes' precompetition preparation and tailor ankle mobility training regimens more effectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Although scholars have discussed in depth about the evaluation content and the construction of evaluation index system of emergency management and crisis management, a unified and standardized interpretation of system construction concepts and empirical research on the performance evaluation of urban emergency management is still lacking. In view of this, this paper is based on the theory of the crisis life cycle, with the four phases of urban emergency management and the content of the task as a clue, constructed a performance evaluation index system containing 12 primary indicators and 44 secondary indicators, and centered on the emergency management work situation of S city. The study reveals that emergency management underperforms in S city, with a score of 5.948, qualifying as the "defined level". The "prevention and preparedness stage" receives poor evaluation, indicating a significant bias for crisis response instead of prevention. The report suggests the improvement of emergency material stockpile planning, the formation of grassroots emergency response teams, the emergency management publicity, and special emergency drill plans, etc., with a view to providing reference for city managers to comprehensively review and evaluate the emergency management system, and to promote the construction of a more systematic, complete and scientific urban emergency management system. Inverse Data Envelopment Analysis (IDEA) has gained significant attention among researchers as an analytical tool for assessing efficiency. Estimating input values while ensuring cost efficiency through changes in output quantities is complex and sensitive. In contrast to conventional data envelopment analysis methods, IDEA enables the quantification of input/output variations resulting from output/input reductions or expansions while preserving the measurement efficiency level. This paper aims to introduce a novel approach for estimating input values by incrementally increasing the value of each output of decision-making units (DMUs) during the evaluation process, thereby maintaining or improving cost efficiency. By utilizing IDEA and manipulating the output values of the DMU under evaluation, the input values are estimated while ensuring constant or enhanced cost efficiency. A simple numerical example and a case study from a Turkish automotive company are presented to validate the proposed method. The obtained results demonstrate significant improvements and hold promising prospects, indicating the potential applicability of this approach to other similar problems and research areas. In routine Generalizability Theory (G-theory) research, the task of establishing or assessing cut-off scores for performance evaluation is consistently sought after yet simultaneously poses significant challenges. While many studies have presented diverse indices to evaluate potential cut-off scores, these indices are frequently limited by their design-specific nature, limiting adaptability across different assessment contexts. This paper reframes G-theory within the context of a Linear Mixed-Effects Model (LMM) and employs LMM-based bootstrapping techniques to generate Intervals of Predicted Total Scores (IPTS) for each individual to evaluate the suitability of potential cut-off score candidates in the assessment. We propose PredC, to quantify the proportion of individuals whose 95% IPTS encompass a given candidate value of interest, thereby gauging the appropriateness of different cut-off choices. A lower PredC is deemed preferable since it signifies that the corresponding cut-off score effectively discriminates between individuals, categorizing them into distinct groups (e.g., pass or fail). The study comprises two parts: Firstly, a Monte Carlo simulation study was carried out to compare the performance of three distinct techniques—parametric, semiparametric, and nonparametric bootstrapping—in constructing IPTS. The second part applied a genuine dataset to illustrate the practical implementation of our proposed methodology. The simulation findings revealed that the distribution of scores greatly influences the efficacy of IPTS, with semiparametric and nonparametric bootstraps being the preferred methods in situations involving ordinal data points, as was the case in the real-world dataset. When assessing cut-off scores, the PredC serves as a valuable complement to the existing suite of quantitative tools, thereby contributing to enhanced standard-setting practices. This contribution explores empirical associations between general pedagogical knowledge (GPK), communication skills, and grades in initial teacher education. We assessed the GPK and communication skills of 105 student teachers in Germany, using a knowledge test and a performance-based assessment. Empirical results show a significant correlation between GPK and grades but not between communication skills and grades. GPK is associated with the number of semesters, while communication skills are associated with age. A novel comprehensive resilience assessment framework for drinking water systems is proposed integrating different resilience perspectives (i.e., robustness, autonomy, flexibility, reliability, preparedness and recovery), oriented by objectives, criteria and metrics, applicable at the tactical level. The resilience assessment framework is applied to a Portuguese real water distribution network, enabling the evaluation of the system's resilience. The infrastructure dimension is the main contributor to the low resilience results, particularly in terms of infrastructural robustness, as the infrastructure has exceeded the average service life and has low rehabilitation rates. In terms of autonomy, the system highly depends on external water and energy sources. Regarding the service dimension, most of the drinking water available is used for non-potable uses (e.g., irrigation), without alternative sources. The detailed diagnosis identified network area R6 as the priority area. Assets rehabilitation, increasing storage capacity, finding alternative water and energy sources, and minimizing non-potable uses are relevant improvement measures that promote the reinforcement of the system's resilience. AbstractBackground: Hospitals make up the main cost factor of health systems and also face increasing pressure to improve efficiency. Improving the performance of hospitals, which are vital for public health, is very important for developing countries such as Turkey. Aims: We conducted this study to assess the performance of 544 secondary-level public hospitals in Turkey by geographical region. Methods: In the study, we used the entropy weighting method to obtain the objective weights of indicators with the evaluation criteria, and then we utilized the TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) method to rank the performance of hospitals by geographical region. Results: The comparison of hospital performances by geographical region indicated that the highest and the lowest mean scores belonged to the Mediterranean Region and the Eastern Anatolia Region, respectively. Conclusions: The socio-economic differences between geographical regions in Turkey were in parallel with the findings of the study. Although there is a need for professional management in resource allocation and use to improve the performance of public hospitals, it is necessary to focus on the origin of the problems first. Background: It is critical to analyse and evaluate elementary school students' scientific inquiry skills to promote inquiry-based teaching and learning and to develop students' scientific inquiry skills. Compared with the analysis of students' scientific inquiry skills based on paper and pen tests and classroom teaching videos, the direct analysis of primary school students' video works on the scientific inquiry can more intuitively and comprehensively reflect students' actual scientific inquiry ability. Purpose: This study aims to analyse scientific inquiry abilities of students in Chinese elementary school through video works and to reflect students' scientific inquiry abilities authentically and comprehensively by using performance assessment. Sample: 32 high-integrity physics videos on material science topics were further evaluated for analysis. Design and Methods: The study proposed the analytical framework of students' scientific inquiry skills combined with the existing research, and the content analysis of the participating videos was carried out accordingly, which realized the performance assessment of students' scientific inquiry skills. Results: Only 40.59%entries had completed elements of scientific inquiry. The scores for hypothesis making and reflection evaluation were 1.37 and 1.71, which were relatively complex and showed that students' performance was weak. The highest scores for the ability to inquire and the view of scientific inquiry were gotten by the students in grade 4 and no outstanding performance was shown by the students in grade 6. Conclusion: First, the lowest level of scientific inquiry was found in making hypotheses and reflective evaluation performance. Second, students' scientific inquiry skills did't show a dominant correlation with grade, and students' inquiry skills don't necessarily increase naturally with increased knowledge and skills. In addition, the degree of openness to inquiry did not fully characterize students' inquiry skills. Image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT) systems using ionizing radiation may increase the risk of secondary cancer and normal tissue toxicity due to additional radiation exposure caused by large field sizes or repeated scans during X-ray imaging. As an alternative to these modalities, surface-guided radiotherapy (SGRT) systems which do not employ ionizing radiation have been developed. This study presents a comprehensive performance evaluation of the Varian Identify SGRT system by using an anthropomorphic Alderson Rando phantom in three different aspects: (a) the accuracy and reproducibility of the system in different regions of interest (ROI) for varying couch displacements, (b) the setup accuracy of the system for patient positioning based on different computed tomography (CT) slice thicknesses, and (c) the potential influence of obstructing SGRT cameras by the gantry on the system's overall accuracy and reproducibility. The accuracy and reproducibility of the SGRT system fell within 1 mm and 1°. Nevertheless, in certain situations, these values were observed to exceed prescribed limits. Consequently, concerning SGRT tolerance limits for treatment applications, careful consideration of ROIs and offset values of the system is crucial. We also recommend that patients should ideally be set up during 0° gantry rotation, and the on-board imaging (OBI) system should be retracted to prevent obstruction of the cameras. This article evaluates the performance of a 20 MW grid-connected photovoltaic system installed in the Naama region, southwestern highlands of Algeria. The production database used in this work was recorded between January 1, 2017, and December 2022, from the plant's SCADA system. During the first 5 years of production, the final yield varied from 3.88 in winter 2020 to 6.30 h/day in summer 2017, while the reference yield varied from 4.45 to 7.05 h/day, the annual average performance ratio is equal to 83.35%, and the annual average capacity factor was found to be 20.05% for the monitored period. These data are then compared with the predicted outcomes by a detailed difference analysis using three widely used PV simulation tools: PVsyst, SAM, and PVSol. Results indicate that the actual data strongly coincide with those predicted by the PVsyst simulation, as confirmed by statistical indices. However, the degradation of the PV plants over the monitored period is quantified using a linear model and a CSD model and is estimated at −1.43 and −1.55 %/year, respectively. In summary, the photovoltaic system performance indices obtained are satisfactory compared to large-scale photovoltaic systems reported in other studies. Practical applications: This study evaluates the performance and degradation of a 20 MWp photovoltaic system located in the highlands of Algeria. The results of this article will serve as a baseline for the future construction of PV plants to raise awareness among decision-makers about the beginnings of the deterioration of installations to allocate a budget for the maintenance and operation of these installations. The findings of this study have the potential to contribute to the wider adoption of Photovoltaic systems as a viable alternative to traditional energy in Algeria and especially in the Highlands. Bridges, as vital infrastructure, require ongoing monitoring to maintain safety and functionality. This study introduces an innovative algorithm that refines bridge component performance assessment through the integration of modified K-means clustering, silhouette coefficient optimization, and cloud model theory. The purpose is to provide a reliable method for monitoring the safety and serviceability of critical infrastructure, particularly double-layer truss arch bridges. The algorithm processes large datasets to identify patterns and manage uncertainties in structural health monitoring (SHM). It includes field monitoring techniques and a model-driven approach for establishing assessment thresholds. The main findings, validated by case studies, show the algorithm's effectiveness in enhancing clustering quality and accurately evaluating bridge performance using multiple indicators, such as statistical significance, cluster centroids, average silhouette coefficient, Davies–Bouldin index, average deviation, and Sign-Rank test p-values. The conclusions highlight the algorithm's utility in assessing structural integrity and aiding data-driven maintenance decisions, offering scientific support for bridge preservation efforts. This study proposes and validates a novel combustion control system for oil-fired boilers aimed at reducing air pollutant emissions through flame image prediction. The proposed system is easily applicable to existing ships. Traditional proportional combustion control systems supply fuel and air at fixed ratios according to the set steam load, without considering the emission of air pollutants. To address this, a stable and immediate control system is proposed, which adjusts the air supply to modify the combustion state. The combustion control system utilizes oxygen concentration predictions from flame images via SEF+SVM as control inputs and applies internal model control (IMC)-based proportional-integral (PI) control for real-time combustion control. Due to the complexity of modeling the image-based system, IMC filter constant tuning through experimentation is essential for achieving effective control performance. Experimental results showed that optimal control performance was achieved when the filter constant λ was set to 1.5. In this scenario, the peak overshoot M p was reduced to 0.19245, and the Integral of Squared Error (ISE) was minimized to 10.1159, ensuring a stable response with minimal oscillation and maintaining a fast response speed. The results demonstrate the potential of the proposed system to improve combustion efficiency and reduce emissions of air pollutants. This study provides a feasible and effective solution for enhancing the environmental performance of marine oil-fired boilers. Concept mapping is widely used as a tool for assessing students' understanding of science. To fully realize the diagnostic potential of concept mapping, a scoring method that not only provides an objective and accurate assessment of students' drawn concept maps but also provides a detailed understanding of students' proficiency and deficiencies in knowledge is necessary. However, few of the existing scoring methods focus on the latent constructs (e.g., knowledge, skills, and cognitive processes) that guide the creation of concept maps. Instead, they focus on the completeness of the concept map by assigning a composite score, which makes it difficult to generate targeted diagnostic feedback information for advancing students' learning. To apply the diagnostic classification model to the quantitative analysis of concept maps, this study introduced the novel application of the item expansion‐based diagnostic classification analysis (IE‐DCA) for this purpose. The IE‐DCA can not only assess students' concept mapping abilities along a continuum but also classify students according to their concept mapping attributes when constructing the concept maps. The application and benefits of this approach were illustrated using a physics concept‐mapping item related to particle and rigid body. Results showed that the estimated attribute profiles via the IE‐DCA provided more detailed information about students' latent constructs than the composite score. Overall, this study illustrates the feasibility and potential of applying IE‐DCA to analyze concept maps. Future applications of IE‐DCS in other assessments in science education are discussed. This study investigates whether family owners consider the stages of CEO tenure in their use of firm performance to assess CEOs. Integrating insights on family owners' long-term orientation and stages of CEO tenure, we theorize that family owners rely more on firm performance to make CEO replacement decisions during the mid-stage of CEO tenure than during the early and late stages. Moreover, we predict that they hold nonfamily CEOs more accountable for firm performance than family CEOs only during the mid-stage of CEO tenure. Automation in the manufacturing of electronic products and devices has been increasingly implemented in the last decades, to cope with the growing demand for mass emerging products. However, some niches still exhibit a large room for improvement. Considering flexible electronics production, this work addresses the assembly of film coverlays, which is still conducted manually, mainly due to the technological challenges related to the manipulation of film-based components and the removal of the film protecting the adhesive layer, along with the extreme variability of their shape and dimension. These issues result in stressful and troublesome tasks for the operator, besides preventing the full digitalization of the production process. A multifunctional gripper is presented as the core device to enable assembly automation. The study concerns the full gripper development, from the analysis of requirements and concept definition to design, prototyping and testing. The device was tested installed on a robot arm, demonstrating full reliability for the completion of all assembly process tasks. Moreover, the assessment of positioning performance confirms the fulfilment of process requirements, still providing insights for slight improvements. To passively achieve an inertial device with unidirectional force transmission similar to Bang Bang control, this study introduces a novel energy dissipation device known as the resettable‐inertia damper (RID). The ingenious motion principles of the RID, encompassing a rack‐and‐pinion, bevel gear commutation system, speed transmission, and eddy current damping, are elucidated in detail. In particular, a unidirectional rotational flywheel within the device selectively engages when the primary structure reciprocates. The physical mass of the flywheel undergoes conversion into an amplified inertia through the rack‐and‐pinion mechanism, which enables the enhancement of damping effects coupling the flywheel rotation and eddy current configuration. A coupled multibody dynamic model, combining the clutching effect, the flywheel inertia, and the rotational damping, is formulated to analyze the system with RID (RIDS). Currently, an analysis of the hysteretic behaviors of RID is carried out. To facilitate the design and evaluation of the performance of RIDS, an equivalent linearization method is proposed for RIDS. The feasibility of this simplified method is validated under harmonic excitation. Additionally, the study examines the performance of equivalent linear systems (ELSs) and RIDS under natural ground motions and stochastic stationary excitation in peak and variance responses levels, respectively. Comparison of RID with traditional inerter shows that RID can achieve a more pronounced control with less force transferred to the structure and with the potential to recover vibration energy, highlighting its unique advantages. In Nigeria, where rainfall plays a pivotal role in agriculture and disaster management, assessing the accuracy of satellite rainfall estimates at various thresholds is imperative. This study assesses the areal averages of nine satellite precipitation estimates (SPEs) against 48 ground-based raingauge observations in Nigeria. Employing categorical statistical metrics and compromise programming, the research assesses the performance of SPEs at seven rainfall thresholds. Results reveal that 82–94% of rainfall estimates align with ground truth, while 5–14% of rainy days are incorrectly detected by raingauges. Notably, SPEs tend to overestimate low rain between 1 mm and 5 mm d−1 and underestimate low heavy rain rates (10 mm ≤ rain < 20 mm), impacting flood monitoring and disaster preparedness. Global Precipitation Climatology Centre (CPCC), Tropical Applications of Meteorology using SATellite and ground-based observations (TAMSAT) African Rainfall Climatology And Time series (TARCAT), and Climate Hazards Group InfraRed Precipitation with Station data (CHIRPS) emerge as more reliable SPEs, particularly in highland regions. This research underscores the importance of choosing appropriate satellite precipitation estimates for enhanced disaster preparedness and resource management across different Nigerian regions. Simple Summary: Equestrian sports have evolved beyond traditional disciplines, embracing specialised events that showcase breed-specific abilities. The Criollo horse breed, a product of centuries of genetic refinement, stands out in South America and internationally, particularly in events like the Freio de Ouro. This competition highlights the breed's versatility and skills, emphasising manoeuvres like the esbarrada and volta sobre patas, which demonstrate agility, coordination, and balance. Despite the breed's success, there is a lack of quantitative kinematic studies on these manoeuvres and their relation to horse morphology. Our study aims to fill this gap by using kinematics to analyse the esbarrada and volta sobre patas, exploring any connections between static goniometry and manoeuvre dynamics. Understanding these movements not only enhances our appreciation of equine biomechanics but also informs breeding and training practices, ultimately benefiting both horses and riders in various equestrian disciplines. The esbarrada and volta sobre patas manoeuvres are critical in Criollo horse equestrian activities, yet their kinematics remain largely unexplored. This observational study aimed to kinematically describe the manoeuvres in Criollo breed horses and explore the relationship between static goniometry and dynamics. A 2D kinematic analysis was conducted on 31 Criollo horses performing the manoeuvres using high-speed cameras. Joint angles were measured using static goniometry and analysed in relation to dynamic performance. The esbarrada covered a distance of 4.28 ± 0.99 m in 1.15 ± 0.11 s at a velocity of 3.77 ± 0.55 m/s. Joint angles showed a mean fetlock extension of 75.4° ± 5.3° and hock flexion of 43.2° ± 4.1°. In the volta sobre patas, significant differences were found in turn duration (first: 0.96 ± 0.07 s, second: 1.12 ± 0.09 s, p = 0.03) and thoracic limb suspension (first: 0.23 ± 0.02 s, second: 0.28 ± 0.03 s, p = 0.02). Static goniometry indicated that limb conformation did not significantly correlate with protraction angles during the esbarrada (p = 0.27). The volta sobre patas demonstrated prolonged duration and increased thoracic limb suspension in the second turn. The systematic literature review (1) investigates whether 'serious games' provide a viable solution to the limitations posed by traditional high-stakes performance assessments and (2) aims to synthesize game design principles for the game-based performance assessment of professional competencies. In total, 56 publications were included in the final review, targeting knowledge, motor skills and cognitive skills and further narrowed down to teaching, training or assessing professional competencies. Our review demonstrates that serious games are able to provide an environment and task authentic to the target competency. Collected in-game behaviors indicate that serious games are able to elicit behavior that is related to a candidates' ability level. Progress feedback and freedom of gameplay in serious games can be implemented to provide an engaging and enjoyable environment for candidates. Few studies examined adaptivity and some examined serious games without an authentic environment or task. Overall, the review gives an overview of game design principles for game-based performance assessment. Ecstasy tablets, a type of common street drug originally consisting of 3,4‐methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), provide stimulant and hallucinogen psychoactive effects. They are frequently found in nightclubs, musical festivals or other recreational events believed to create a relaxing experience for the users. From a forensic perspective, when the drug of abuse is suspected in such scenarios, the law enforcement personnel would then require an easy‐to‐perform, quick and accurate method to detect the existence of such controlled substance prior to the seizure and subsequent forensic examination. In this study, we assessed the performance of a portable Raman spectroscopy as the primary aid in determining ecstasy tablets at the point of use. A total of 130 ecstasy tablet samples were analysed by Raman spectroscopy and characterised by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS). Active chemical substances and cutting agents detected by the two instrumentations were then compared. The performance of Raman spectroscopy was further assessed in terms of its accuracy, sensitivity and specificity, corresponding to the analysis results obtained from GC–MS analysis. Overall, portable Raman Spectroscopy used in this study shows an accuracy of 85.4% in analysing ecstasy tablets obtained from case samples, while the sensitivity and specificity were determined as 85.2% and 100%, respectively. No false positives for MDMA or other drugs were reported. Our results show that portable Raman spectroscopy is a suitable technique for targeted determination of the presence of ecstasy tablets, especially in forensic cases that require non‐destructive, rapid and mass screening during on‐site testing by law enforcement personnel. The Council of Ministers has approved Royal Decree-Law 6/2023, of December 19, approving urgent measures for the implementation of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan in the areas of public service of justice, civil service, local regime and patronage. Among the matters addressed, many of them were already part of the Bill on the Civil Service Law of the State Administration, which was eventually not passed because of the Spanish elections of July 2023. Thus, in the present paper we examine the reform of the civil service brought about this royal decree-law. In particular, the royal decree-law renews the planning, organization and strategic management of human resources and reinforces transparency, streamlines selection processes and regulates and regulates the performance assessment of public employees, their professionalcareer and professional public management. It also updates the ranges of civil servant levels and introduces procedural changes aimed at promoting the use of electronic media and hastening the procedures involved in the administrative litigation process in civil service matters, as well as seeking the right to defense of public employees.

System-on-chip designs for high-performance computing systems widely use network-on-chip (NoC) technology. The critical metrics such as latency, throughput, and total energy directly impact the performance of NoCs. However, a cycle-accurate simulator takes considerable execution time for different values of packet injection rate. This paper proposes a machine learning approach with various regression models to predict the essential NoC performance metrics. The work explores regression models, including decision trees, K-nearest neighbors, random forest, polynomial regression, and support vector regression, alongside baseline linear regression for 2D and 3D NoC-based architectures. Experiment results demonstrate high accuracy, ranging from 96.72 to 99.96% for 2D and up to 99.99% for 3D NoC-based architectures. Root-mean-squared error values vary from 0.2792 to 0.03143 for 2D NoC and 0.1857 to 0.0063 for 3D NoC architecture. Abstract Background The administration of performance assessments during the coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic posed many challenges, especially for examinations employed as part of certification and licensure. The National Assessment Collaboration (NAC) Examination, an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE), was modified during the pandemic. The purpose of this study was to gather evidence to support the reliability and validity of the modified NAC Examination. Methods The modified NAC Examination was delivered to 2,433 candidates in 2020 and 2021. Cronbach’s alpha, decision consistency, and accuracy values were calculated. Validity evidence includes comparisons of scores and sub-scores for demographic groups: gender (male vs. female), type of International Medical Graduate (IMG) (Canadians Studying Abroad (CSA) vs. non-CSA), postgraduate training (PGT) (no PGT vs. PGT), and language of examination (English vs. French). Criterion relationships were summarized using correlations within and between the NAC Examination and the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) Part I scores. Results Reliability estimates were consistent with other OSCEs similar in length and previous NAC Examination administrations. Both total score and sub-score differences for gender were statistically significant. Total score differences by type of IMG and PGT were not statistically significant, but sub-score differences were statistically significant. Administration language was not statistically significant for either the total scores or sub-scores. Correlations were all statistically significant with some relationships being small or moderate (0.20 to 0.40) or large (> 0.40). Conclusions The NAC Examination yields reliable total scores and pass/fail decisions. Expected differences in total scores and sub-scores for defined groups were consistent with previous literature, and internal relationships amongst NAC Examination sub-scores and their external relationships with the MCCQE Part I supported both discriminant and criterion-related validity arguments. Modifications to OSCEs to address health restrictions can be implemented without compromising the overall quality of the assessment. This study outlines some of the validity and reliability analyses for OSCEs that required modifications due to COVID.

The disposal of high-level radioactive waste (HLW) and spent nuclear fuel (SF) presents a unique challenge for the prediction of the long-term performance of corrodible structures since the HLW/SF canisters are expected, in some cases, to have lifetimes of one million years or longer. Various empirical and deterministic models have been developed over the past 45 years for making predictions of the long-term corrosion behaviour, including models for uniform and localized corrosion, environmentally assisted cracking and microbiologically influenced corrosion. As well as process models focused on specific corrosion mechanisms (described in Part 1 of this review), there is also a need for performance assessment models as part of the overall analysis of the safety of a deep geological repository (DGR). Performance assessment models are often based on simplified or abstracted process models. The manner in which various international waste management programs have predicted the long-term performance of HLW/SF containers with copper, steel, Ni and Ti alloy corrosion barriers is discussed. Performance assessments are repeated periodically during the development and implementation of a DGR, and the corrosion models are constantly updated in light of new mechanistic understanding and/or more information about the deep geological environment. Two examples of how the container performance assessment models evolve over time are also described. Performance assessment models cannot easily be validated, so it is important to build confidence in the long-term predictions using other methods, including natural analogues and large-scale in situ tests and the use of complementary models.

Abstract This manuscript aims to study the reliability of different variables related to performance and acceleration during the golf putt in players with medium-to-high handicaps and to determine the number of attempts necessary to find reliable values for these variables. Eight males and two females [55.67 (13.64) years, 78.4 (11.4) kg, 1.75 (7.95) m] participated in two experimental sessions separated by one week. In these sessions, they performed three blocks of 10 putts trying to stop the golf ball at the center of a dartboard painted 2 m away. The performance was assessed depending on the area of the dartboard where the ball stopped, and the acceleration signals were acquired using the Xsens Dot. The results showed that to evaluate performance, 18 trials were necessary to reach reliable values using the 0–10 scoring system, and 28 trials were necessary for the 0–3 scoring system. Regarding the reliability of the accelerometer-related variables, 7 attempts were necessary to obtain good-to-excellent reliability values for most of the variables. It could be concluded that putting in medium-to-high handicap golf players can be reliably measured using the abovementioned protocol.

In the context of the current global climate and biodiversity crisis, urgent action is needed to improve participatory and co-productive governance in territories under sustainability directives, such as biosphere reserves. These territories comprise a global network with the potential to apply and replicate sustainability actions, improve livelihoods, and boost climate change resilience while reducing impacts on the environment and the biodiversity in all continents. In the biosphere reserves network's 50 years of existence, progress and setbacks have been reported in different regions around the world, and there is an urgent need to envision alternative futures. In this contribution, we describe the results and reflections of our 'Open Academy' that enhanced the participatory governance in La Campana--Peñuelas Biosphere Reserve in Central Chile. We crossed the traditional assessment with the principles of transdisciplinary and intergenerational knowledge co-creation. The results show that the traditional performance assessment shows a generally poor performance and reveals the weaknesses of the governance system of the reserve's management. The extraction of water by mining and agroindustry, uncontrolled urbanization, wildfires, weak social participation, and low integration of indigenous communities are crucial issues for the performance of biosphere reserves. On the other hand, these territories have the potential as models toward post-extractive economies. Enhancing participatory governance, biosphere reserves shall serve as a) agents for configuring the future as an eco-social pact with the territory; b) pilot test areas for alternative futures; and c) places to promote the social collective as a conscious agent of the future. Objective Materials and Methods Results Conclusion To develop and test an Objective Structured Assessment of Technical Skills (OSATS) score for the internal version and total breech extraction of the second twin if in a non‐engaged cephalic position.This prospective interventional study took place in a tertiary obstetrics department in France. An objective scoring system was developed, and a standardized simulation scenario was set up. Score evaluation was blinded and analyzed according to group and number of past successful vaginal twin deliveries in real life. A satisfaction evaluation was performed, based on the “Student Design Scale” questionnaire.Simulation was performed on 33 participants in three groups: novice group (15 first‐ and second‐year residents), intermediate group (11 third‐ to sixth‐year residents), and expert group (seven senior obstetricians). The total score obtained by experts was higher than that of the intermediate group (P = 0.001), which was higher than that of the novice group (P < 0.001). In the intermediate group, no correlation was found between OSATS score and number of past successful vaginal twin deliveries. Participants' satisfaction was excellent.The OSATS score developed was reliable and valid to evaluate an internal version and a total breech extraction of the second twin, and to differentiate novice, intermediate, and expert practitioners. This study investigates gender differences in core muscle morphology among elite alpine skiers using ultrasonography, highlighting significant disparities that could influence training and injury prevention strategies. Methods: A cross-sectional design was employed, examining ultrasound imaging (USI) in 22 elite skiers (11 male, 11 female) to assess the thickness of the external oblique (EO), internal oblique (IO), transversus abdominis (TrAb), and rectus abdominis (RA) muscles. Results: Significant differences were noted, with male skiers displaying greater muscle thickness, particularly in the right IO and RA and left IO, EO, TrAb, and RA. Conclusions: These findings suggest that male and female skiers may require different training approaches to optimize performance and reduce injury risks. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of the physical demands on elite skiers and underscores the need for gender-specific training regimens to enhance athletic outcomes and prevent injuries. In the twenty-first century, the use of technology in the teaching process has become increasingly crucial. A rising trend in language assessment comes in the form of vlogs. Its proliferation in language assessment can serve many advantages and benefits. However, a misguided assessment strategy can undermine the teaching-learning process. Also, learners often feel that vlogging assessments need to be revised because the focus is on the vlogging skills and media quality. Hence, the study aimed to identify the practices and perspectives of language teachers, academic heads, and language learners in using vlogs as a speaking performance assessment. A qualitative design was employed to collect a rich and detailed understanding of the focus of the study. The informants were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through essay questionnaires, focus-group discussions, and semi-structured interviews. The findings revealed that using vlogs in language assessment offers a versatile and practical approach for formative and summative purposes. Administering vlogging tasks requires weighing the advantages and challenges associated with each approach. Vlog types, such as personal vlogs, opinion vlogs, and interview vlogs, are ideal for enhancing learners' speaking skills. Furthermore, the pedagogical considerations of language teachers in utilizing vlogs include alignment, sufficient time and support, access to necessary technological resources, learner flexibility, support to struggling learners, clear and comprehensible instructions, and equity for all learners. Emerging applications such as smart city infrastructures and virtual reality landscapes are setting rigorous benchmarks for 6G mobile networks, requiring elevated levels of confidentiality, integrity, non-repudiation, authentication, and stringent access controls. Blockchain technology is heralded as a transformative enabler for meeting 6G standards, owing to its intrinsic attributes. However, a gap exists in the holistic investigation of blockchain’s applicability in 6G realms, particularly addressing the “whether”, “when”, and “how” of its deployment. Present research trails in developing robust methodologies to gauge blockchain’s efficacy within 6G use cases. Addressing this, our study introduces a novel confluence of blockchain with 6G networks, where data resides in distributed Hash tables (DHTs) while their hashes are secured in distributed ledger technology (DLT), harnessing blockchain’s core strengths-immutability, traceability, and fortified security. We delineate seven specific 6G use cases poised for enhancement through blockchain integration, and scrutinize the rationale, nature, and timing of this convergence. Furthermore, we devise a comprehensive methodology for assessing blockchain’s performance metrics and scalability in 6G environments. Our extensive experimental analyses evaluate the synergistic performance of this integration, revealing that the Quorum blockchain satisfactorily supports 80% of 6G scenarios. The findings suggest that, with appropriate configurations, consortium blockchains are well-equipped to fulfill the demanding performance and scalability requisites of 6G networks. The production of hydrogen from residual biomass represents a sustainable alternative to integrate the production of renewable hydrogen in coming years. This work shows the results obtained during an experimental campaign dedicated to analysing the performance of a downdraft gasifier of about 100 kW t fed with woody biomass and oxy-steam mixtures. With suitable oxygen-steam ratios it was possible to produce a syngas with a hydrogen content higher than 40%vol, with a cold gas efficiency of more than 80%. The experimental syngas composition is used as input of a numerical model, created in Aspen Plus® and dedicated to evaluating the performance of the plant section for the pure H 2 -production. The numerical analysis highlighted the possibility of obtaining approximately 5% by mass of hydrogen with respect to the biomass used, also evidencing how the correct use of thermal waste and residues makes the whole plant (gasifier plus hydrogenizer) independent on heat supply. • Woody biomass oxy-steam gasification has been analysed in a real-scale downdraft gasifier. • Oxy-steam gasification confirmed to be effective in increasing hydrogen yield in the syngas. • The optimum equivalence ratio and steam/biomass mass ratio have been determined. • A H 2 production plant has been conceived and analysed to exploit the produced syngas. • The study evidenced the possibility of obtaining a hydrogen/biomass mass ratio of 5%. Why is voting behaviour tied to ethnicity in many new democracies? A predominant view, offered by the instrumentalist theory, argues that voters use candidates' identity -ethnic or partisan- as a signal of expected performance. However, voters will reward well-performing politicians by being more likely to vote for them and punish bad performance regardless of candidates' identity. To test these assumptions, we conduct a nationally representative survey in Kenya asking voters about their spending preference for the country's main anti-poverty programme, which is managed by MPs in collaboration with citizens. We find that voters, regardless of ethnicity or party, have an erroneous view of how their MP spent the anti-poverty funds. Then in an experiment, we share with voters the spending made by the MPs and audit results probing for corruption. Once voters are aware that their MP's spending does not match their spending priorities, their approval and likelihood of voting for the MP decreases if primed to view the politician as partisan. Voters also electorally punish MPs for corruption whether copartisan or non-copartisan. In contrast to instrumentalist expectations, if voters are primed to view their MP in ethnic terms, they are more likely to vote for their coethnic overlooking bad performance and corruption. The availability of alternative parties in local elections may explain why voters attach partisanship to performance evaluation. Still, in our case study, as in other new democracies, politicians continue mobilising support along ethnic lines, perhaps explaining why voters prioritise group loyalties if primed to think about ethnicity. Optimizing Resource Allocation in Fire Departments (RAFD) is crucial for enhancing Fire Protection Services (FPS) and ultimately saving lives. Efficient RAFD ensures that fire departments have the necessary resources to respond effectively to emergencies. This paper presents a method for optimizing RAFD based on performance assessment results, examining its impact on Fire Department (FD) efficiency in Portugal. Evaluating data from 353 FDs, two RAFD optimization methods were assessed: one adhering to Portuguese regulations and constraints, such as budget allocation limitations, and another without such constraints. Integrating a slack-based data envelopment analysis model and mixed-integer linear programming, the study found that incorporating FD efficiency scores in RAFD improved overall efficiency at national, district, and FD levels. While adherence to Portuguese regulations led to balanced resource allocation and a 4% performance improvement at the national level, relaxing constraints yielded an 8% improvement, albeit with potential performance deterioration in some FDs. The detailed budget and efficiency metric analysis provided in this paper offers actionable insights for fire protection services enhancement. This underscores the importance of diverse optimization strategies to enhance FD efficiency, with implications for decision-makers at the Portuguese National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection and similar organizations globally. This paper reports results from an Australian study into how teachers see features of quality in student work and connect these to next‐step teaching. Data were drawn from a national 3 year project investigating teacher judgement using A–E standards. The project developed scaled exemplars of authentic student written performance assessments to support teacher judgement and inform next‐step teaching and learning. Fifty‐seven participants created evaluative explanations of grading decisions (i.e. cognitive commentaries), wrote reflective responses and participated in online meeting discussions of their cognitive commentaries. These data were examined using qualitative content and thematic analyses. Findings highlighted how stated standards influence teachers' judgements of student work. Variation was evident in teachers' focus on (1) content (i.e. core skills vs. extended thinking), (2) specificity of improvement points and suggested teaching strategies and (3) the connection between identified areas for improvement and teaching strategies. Most teachers were able to identify specific points for improvement. However, in the main, they selected next‐step teaching strategies that were general rather than targeted and specific. Teachers reflected that structured analysis helped direct their thinking and judgements, targeting attention on next‐step teaching. The results suggested that teacher education and professional development should focus on supporting teachers to link specific teaching strategies to identified student weaknesses. This study found that artefacts, such as cognitive commentaries that connect assessment, teaching and learning, can help build professional knowledge and expertise, which remain key components of teacher assessment literacy. Purpose: Despite the accuracy of heart rate (HR) as an indicator of the aerobic engagement has been evaluated in several intermittent on-court activities, its validity as an oxygen uptake (${\dot V_{{O_2}}}$ V ˙ O 2 ) indicator during shuttle running over short paths remains uncertain. Moreover, it is unclear whether speed may affect such validity. This study evaluated the HR ability in estimating the ${\dot V_{{O_2}}}$ V ˙ O 2 during 5-m shuttle running at different speeds. Methods: ${\dot V_{{O_2}}}$ V ˙ O 2 and HR of 12 physically active young men were recorded during an incremental forward running (FW) protocol and a 5-m shuttle test at 50%, 60%, and 75% of maximal aerobic speed (MAS). Slope and intercept of the relationship between HR and ${\dot V_{{O_2}}}$ V ˙ O 2 (HR/ ${\dot V_{{O_2}}}$ V ˙ O 2 ) were individually determined, in both protocols. The HR measured during the shuttle test was used in the FW HR/ ${\dot V_{{O_2}}}$ V ˙ O 2 to estimate ${\dot V_{{O_2}}}$ V ˙ O 2 at each shuttle speed. A paired Student's t-test compared slopes and intercepts of the two HR/ ${\dot V_{{O_2}}}$ V ˙ O 2 . A two-way RM-ANOVA and an equality test examined, respectively, the differences and the equality between measured and estimated ${\dot V_{{O_2}}}$ V ˙ O 2 . Lastly, a Bland–Altman plot described the accuracy and precision of the estimated ${\dot V_{{O_2}}}$ V ˙ O 2 at each shuttle intensity. Results: Slopes and intercepts of the HR/ ${\dot V_{{O_2}}}$ V ˙ O 2 appeared not different between FW and shuttle running. At 50%MAS, HR underestimated the ${\dot V_{{O_2}}}$ V ˙ O 2 (~7%), whereas returned accurate values at the two higher velocities, although with high variability (±18%). Conclusions: When using HR as ${\dot V_{{O_2}}}$ V ˙ O 2 indicator during shuttle running over short paths, a separated analysis of the HR validity as ${\dot V_{{O_2}}}$ V ˙ O 2 indicator is recommended especially when administering different exercise intensities. This paper describes an assessment framework tool to analyze the performance of nature-based solutions (NBS) for hydro-meteorological risk management. The tool is based on multi-criteria decision analysis within the context of NBSs, an umbrella concept currently in focus that promotes nature and provides ecological and socio-economic benefits. The proposed tool includes the selection and application of key performance indicators (KPIs) for the co-benefits and costs associated with the implementation of NBSs. To ensure high societal impact, the tool relies on a participatory approach. Stakeholder preferences are taken into account within the assessment process. As such, the assessment framework can be used as a design and selection tool for NBSs and other alternative measures, including grey and hybrid solutions. The proposed procedure can be adapted to the specific socio-environmental context and hydro-meteorological risk by tailoring the set of relevant KPIs. The assessment framework is useful for monitoring the implemented measures and to document their effectiveness. The methodology provides quantitative and transparent documentation of hydro-meteorological risk management processes, useful for decision- and policy-makers, and stakeholders dealing with NBS measures. Gas refineries are an important part of the energy supply in the world but they may produce byproducts like emissions too. Thus, both technical performance and environmental execution are important and need to be analyzed. Iran is the third-highest producer of natural gas in the world. It produces 6.5% of the natural gas in the world. This paper rummages the environmental and technical performance of Iranian gas refineries through data envelopment analysis (DEA), which is a strong frontier analysis approach is used in this study. Although the primary result shows a rather good performance of Iranian gas refineries overall, more potentials are found for improvement. We find 6% technical potential and 8% environmental potential for improvement which is still a considerable amount. Thus, national and international policymakers should consider this potential for better production and supply of natural gas. We also provided an empirical robustness check to enrich our findings. Since isometric training is gaining popularity, some devices are being developed to test isometric force as an alternative to the more expensive force plates (FPs); thus, the aim of this study was to test the reliability and validity of "GSTRENGTH" for measuring PF in the isometric belt squat exercise. Five subjects performed 24 contractions at three different knee angles (90°, 105° and 120°) on two occasions (120 total cases). Peak force data were measured using FPs and a strain gauge (SG) and analyzed by Pearson's product–moment correlation coefficient, ICCs, Cronbach's alpha, a paired sample t-test and Bland–Altman plots. Perfect or almost perfect relationships (r: 0.999–1) were found with an almost perfect or perfect level of agreement (ICCs: 0.992–1; α: 0.998–1). The t-test showed significant differences for the raw data but not for the predictions by the equations obtained with the SG values. The Bland–Altman plots, when significant, showed trivial to moderate values for systematic bias in general. In conclusion, "GSTRENGTH" was shown to be a valid alternative to FPs for measuring PF. In today's health-monitoring applications, there is a growing demand for wireless and wearable acquisition platforms capable of simultaneously gathering multiple bio-signals from multiple body areas. These systems require well-structured software architectures, both to keep different wireless sensing nodes synchronized each other and to flush collected data towards an external gateway. This paper presents a quantitative analysis aimed at validating both the wireless synchronization task (implemented with a custom protocol) and the data transmission task (implemented with the BLE protocol) in a prototype wearable monitoring platform. We evaluated seven frequencies for exchanging synchronization packets (10 Hz, 20 Hz, 30 Hz, 40 Hz, 50 Hz, 60 Hz, 70 Hz) as well as two different BLE configurations (with and without the implementation of a dynamic adaptation of the BLE Connection Interval parameter). Additionally, we tested BLE data transmission performance in five different use case scenarios. As a result, we achieved the optimal performance in the synchronization task (1.18 ticks as median synchronization delay with a Min-Max range of 1.60 ticks and an Interquartile range (IQR) of 0.42 ticks) when exploiting a synchronization frequency of 40 Hz and the dynamic adaptation of the Connection Interval. Moreover, BLE data transmission proved to be significantly more efficient with shorter distances between the communicating nodes, growing worse by 30.5% beyond 8 m. In summary, this study suggests the best-performing network configurations to enhance the synchronization task of the prototype platform under analysis, as well as quantitative details on the best placement of data collectors. The remote sensing of turbidity and suspended particulate matter (SPM) relies on atmospheric corrections and bio-optical algorithms, but there is no one method that has better accuracy than the others for all satellites, bands, study areas, and purposes. Here, we evaluated different combinations of satellites (Landsat-8, Sentinel-2, and Sentinel-3), atmospheric corrections (ACOLITE and POLYMER), algorithms (single- and multiband; empirical and semi-analytical), and bands (665 and 865 nm) to estimate turbidity and SPM in Patos Lagoon (Brazil). The region is suitable for a case study of the regionality of remote-sensing algorithms, which we addressed by regionally recalibrating the coefficients of the algorithms using a method for geophysical observation models (GeoCalVal). Additionally, we examined the results associated with the use of different statistical parameters for classifying algorithms and introduced a new metric (GoF) that reflects performance. The best performance was achieved via POLYMER atmospheric correction and the use of single-band algorithms. Regarding SPM, the recalibrated coefficients yielded a better performance, but, for turbidity, a tradeoff between two statistical parameters occurred. Therefore, the uncertainties in the atmospheric corrections and algorithms used were analyzed based on previous studies. In the future, we suggest the use of in situ radiometric data to better evaluate atmospheric corrections, radiative transfer modeling to bridge data gaps, and multisensor data merging for compiling climate records. This article attempts to investigate the effect of a very simple design modification on the no‐load performance of a natural convection domestic solar dryer (NCDSD). A direct‐type domestic solar dryer has been developed with an air cavity surrounding the drying chamber. To compare the effect of air cavity, a domestic solar dryer without air cavity has also been developed and both the dryers were tested simultaneously under the climate of Hisar, India. The values of thermal efficiency were calculated along with convective heat transfer coefficient from absorber plate to the drying air. Both the dryers were also analyzed by developing finite element models in COMSOL multiphysics computer software. The no‐load thermal efficiency for the domestic solar dryer without and with air cavity was found to be 22.68% and 34.08%, respectively. The values of coefficient of correlation for modeled and actual drying tray temperatures for dryer without and with air cavity were 0.980466 and 0.9833917, respectively. The complexity of irrigation systems and the need to adapt them to uncertainties requires developing approaches to synthesize their performances. This paper reviews performance assessment and indicators for agricultural water systems. It is aimed at finding various methods and indices used for irrigation performance assessment and standard classes for their characterization. The global application of the metrics was also documented. Adopting a systematic review approach, peer‐reviewed journal articles published in the English language in the last two decades (1 March 2001 to 31 December 2020) were surveyed. Case studies were presented demonstrating the application of the indicators. The study revealed a lack of standardization and the use of a wide range of indicators among others, and recommended representing certain indicators as single. However, this review considered one indicator as the best. Suggestions for further studies were made. With the development of information technology, such as cloud computing and 5G technologies, the construction of smart cities has been an essential part of the city's long-term development strategy for the 14th five-year plans in China. After a few years of development, the research problem of the dynamic performance assessment of smart cities has been a hot and urgent issue. This paper constructed the dimensions of smart productivity, smart livability, smart governance, and eco-community based on the connotations of smart cities. Then, an indicator system including 35 indicators was built based on the four dimensions. To enlarge the overall differences of the final assessment values, we used the vertical and horizontal deviation maximization (VH-DM) method to measure the performances of 31 smart cities in China from the year 2014–2018. Two essential findings and driving indicators were identified from the assessment results. Firstly, the development among the smart cities was unbalanced and more than half of the smart cities (accounting for 64.52%) were below the average level. The local authorities considered the urban agglomeration strategies to alleviate the problem of unbalanced urban development. Secondly, some smart cities (such as Chongqing) with large scale of population and total resources showed a low level after the total resources were allocated to per capita, which provided a warning for the smart cities to pay more attention to individual development. This study was conducted to evaluate the overall performance of selected small-scale irrigation schemes using internal and external performance indicators. The performance of the irrigation schemes in relation to water balance was evaluated using three indicators. The results indicated that the relative water supply (RWS), relative irrigation supply (RIS), and field application ratio (FAR) of Midagdu irrigation scheme were 0.9, 1.3, and 0.75 respectively. This indicates that the water supply is not closely related to the water demand. However, for the Wadeti Irrigation scheme, the RWS, RIS, and FAR are 0.48, 0.35, and 2.83, respectively, indicating water stress. The Midagdu irrigation scheme shows 7496.75 birr/ha for both output per unit command area and output per unit cropped area. Output per unit irrigation water supply was 12.5 birr/m3, while output per unit water consumed was 4.4 birr/m3. For the Wadeti irrigation scheme, the values were 11,276.12 birr/ha, 11,276.12 birr/ha, 8.7 birr/m3, and 1.6 birr/m3, respectively. This study results showed that the Wadeti irrigation scheme is more land-efficient, while the Midagdu scheme is more water-efficient. The values of the hydraulic performance indicators Conveyance Efficiency (Ec), Water delivery capacity (WDC), and Delivery Performance Ratio (DPR), for the Midagdu irrigation scheme were 75 %, 0.45, and 0.8, respectively, while for the Wadeti irrigation scheme, the values were 42 %, 0.11, and 0.4, respectively. These results indicate that the water delivery performance of the two schemes was poor. Therefore, improving the hydraulic performance of the scheme requires minimizing water conveyance losses.

This contribution explores empirical associations between general pedagogical knowledge (GPK), communication skills, and grades in initial teacher education. We assessed the GPK and communication skills of 105 student teachers in Germany, using a knowledge test and a performance-based assessment. Empirical results show a significant correlation between GPK and grades but not between communication skills and grades. GPK is associated with the number of semesters, while communication skills are associated with age. We discuss the learning objectives of initial teacher education in higher education in the light of our results.

The primary objective of this study is to examine the suitability of employing a machine learning models (MLMs) comprising Support Vector Machine (SVM), Gene Expression Programming (GEP), and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) algorithms to emulate the influence of geometric and geotechnical parameters of the piles on the scour depth reduction about the oblong-shaped bridge pier. A dataset consisting of 90 laboratory observations was utilized, allocating 70 % of the data for the training and 30 % for the testing the MLMs. An oblong-shaped bridge pier of diameter D, was positioned and subjected to a rectangular flume featuring an erodible bed comprising sand sediment particles of D50 = 1.7 mm under clear water and subcritical flow conditions. The spacing between the piles, LD, the angle of pile orientation with respect to the flow, θ, and the Froude number, Fr, were identified as independent parameters through the dimensional analysis and Buckingham-Π theory. The MLMs’ performance were assessed employing root mean square error (RMSE), mean absolute error (MAE), coefficient of determination (R2), and developed discrepancy ratio (DDR). The outcomes, affirming the predictive capacity of all MLMs included, revealed that the GEP model employing a three-gene configuration exhibited superior accuracy compared to the other two MLMs. Specifically, the performance indicators (RMSE, MAE, R2, DDR) during the training and testing phases were (0.0433, 0.033, 0.981, 6.8) and (0.054, 0.045, 0.958, 4.81) respectively. The sensitivity analysis elucidated the hierarchy of influential variables as follows: Fr, LD and θ.

A CSP Plant and in particular the solar field has hundreds of thousands of components and the corresponding process parameters. This needs to be monitored and evaluated every day to make sure that the plant is working efficiently. A performance assessment with a production simulation is done daily where the expected and actual power production are compared. Such evaluation is usually done with the plant performance model and the necessary data is compiled in calculation programs like Excel. The work is repetitive, time consuming and human errors may easily occur. Typically, the evaluations are done from different parties with deviating results and conclusions. ACWA Power has developed an online simulation platform to automatize the data processing to increase the data reliability and reduce the time effort. The application has been implemented in the Noor Energy 1 hybrid solar plant in Dubai and shall be presented in this paper.
