With its 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the United Nations (UN) developed 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a "blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet." This initiative raises the question: how has the Journal of Consumer Research (JCR) shed light on the SDGs? This research analyzes 50 years of consumer research through the lens of the SDG and makes four contributions. First, the authors provide a content analysis of articles in JCR and how it relates to the SDGs over time; they also analyze the Journal of Consumer Psychology (JCP) and Journal of Public Policy & Marketing (JPP&M) with regard to the SDGs. Second, this research reveals where JCR has made progress and achieved impact (via Altmetric) but also identifies gaps in the literature. Thus, the analyses shed light on what research in JCR , JCP , and JPP&M understands (and does not understand) about consumer behavior and points the way to future SDG-oriented research. Finally, based on insights from interviews with thought leaders, sociology of science, UN data dashboards, and an exploratory survey in three countries (the U.S. France, and Singapore), the authors provide recommendations on how the field can (better) incorporate the SDGs in research, teaching, and service. In the lands of Western Azerbaijan, every stone and rock says, "I am the ancient Oghuz tribe, the Turkic homeland." There are Turkish traces both above and below the ground. The Armenians who falsified the above ground are trying to erase these traces from below the ground as well. Armenians, the spoils of history, completely destroyed the old face of the city of Iravan and hid it underground. They demolished the Gantar market in the Azerbaijani city of Yerevan and built a children's park in its place. Now, the personal belongings belonging to the Khan of Iravan, as well as the material and spiritual evidence of Azerbaijan's heritage found here during the excavation, made it difficult for the authors of Armenian lies, so they make up tales with a thousand lies and bury the truth under the ground again. They are destroying the history and culture underground. These vandals have not only erased their traces on the historical and ethnic lands of Azerbaijanis, but also carried out genocide against their toponyms. They changed the names of 703 settlements where Azerbaijanis used to live and made them Armenian. Presenting themselves to the world as an "ancient nation", a "civilized nation", Armenians in reality show a real "example" of barbarism and vandalism against the cultural heritage of Azerbaijanis, and they present themselves as "the first nation to accept Christianity" so that Christian countries support them. This study aims to analyze the influence of product, price, place, promotion, people, process and physical evidence on general patient satisfaction in the inpatient unit of Elim Rantepao Hospital, North Toraja Regency. The population of this study is 15,798 general patients, of which 375 were taken as samples. The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant influence of the dimensions of Product, Price, Place, Promotion, People, Process, and Physical Evidence on General Patient Satisfaction in the Inpatient Unit of the hospital. The analysis also showed that the 7P Marketing Mix variable of the people dimension had the most influence on patient satisfaction at the hospital with an Exp value (3,395). The chi square p-value test of 0.747 0.05 was used to test the significance value of the dimension of Place on the overall satisfaction of general patients. Emotional intelligence has its roots in social intelligence, in which it is valued as the ability or capacity to understand, measure and manage not only our own emotions, but also the emotions of others. Emotional intelligence is characterized by the ability to understand, manage, facilitate and regulate emotions. These skills help the individual to regulate emotions and use them to motivate, plan and achieve life goals. This paper deals with the topic of emotional intelligence in the workplace. The goal is to connect the emotional intelligence of the person with the work, namely the place where he is employed. Emotional intelligence is very important for work, because discovering and understanding the feelings of employees can improve their performance at work. There are arguments for and against using emotional intelligence at work. Emotions and emotional intelligence are described using the description method. Different forms of emotional intelligence are counted using the classification method and emotions are divided into two main groups and different subgroups. In recent years, the attention paid to the metaverse in the scientific world has increased; the hottest topics include system architecture and enabling technologies, as well as business, privacy, ethical, and security issues. On the other side, at the mainstream level, it is well known that the company Meta (formerly Facebook) is striving to realize its interpretation of a "social" metaverse. As Meta is a big leader of social media, it is reasonable to guess that, in the future, users will participate in a new social platform, such as that which the company is building by depicting unlimited and engaging opportunities. Regardless of Meta, we ask what the opinion of people is about this possible future scenario. A literature search of previous works about this topic has been done; the few results we found were not properly on topic and showed heterogeneous content. A survey on interpretations of the metaverse of major information and communication technologies (ICT) companies that impact the consumer world was undertaken; the results show that Meta is the most prominent company with the mission of building a "social" metaverse worldwide. Finally, a draft of a tool for assessing the predilection of people for a "social" metaverse, based on various facets of the future social platform, is proposed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to discuss how agency conflicts between people and main government organs affect the combatting ability of white-collar money laundering in an emerging economy. Design/methodology/approach: This paper uses a qualitative design under the philosophy of interpretivism. The case study research strategy is used inductively to investigate how structural limitations affect white-collar money laundering. Findings: This study reveals that serious agency conflicts exist between public and main government organs which are detrimental to the rights of people to enjoy a crime-free society. First agency conflict of people and legislature intensifies as a result of limited understanding of the legislature and failure to take precautionary actions to develop an anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) regime with evolving global standards. This delay has resulted in identifying Sri Lanka as a deficient AML/CFT regime twice. The second conflicts arise between people and the executive which is a serious conflict due to misuse of statutory power and failure to perform duties. The independence and integrity of administrative authorities who perform executive functions were inherent problems of implementing a sound AML/CFT regime. Lack of monitoring, nonavailability of an independent audit and inappropriate reporting channels were other encouraging factors of administrative organs to misuse statutory power. The third conflict between people and the judiciary was not intensified because the function was not so exposed to create agency conflicts. After all, an adequate number of cases had not proceeded to the judiciary due to inherent limitations as a result of intensified first two agency conflicts. The agency conflicts have intensified over the years and AML/CFT regime has been ineffective as a result of limited influence and understanding of the principal, people. Therefore, the principal has to influence the agents to make reforms in the AML/CFT regime to make the country a white-collar crime-free country. Research limitations/implications: This study uses a case study strategy to assess the context of Sri Lanka as an emerging economy. It is recommended to take into consideration the contextual facts when the findings are applied to other jurisdictions. Google Classroom has been frequently used as an e-learning platform to substitute for Learning Management System (LMS), and the use of its features (Classwork, Stream, People, etc.) varies among teachers with different goals, focuses, and familiarity. However, research has not addressed how the selection of Google Classroom features affects students learning experience. Therefore, this study was aimed at finding out how Google Classroom features should be used to better facilitate online learning among students in English as a foreign language (EFL) classes. The data for this research was collected from ten leading schools in Indonesia, and 373 students participated in this study. Two questionnaires were used and delivered online, i.e. a Google Classroom Use questionnaire with Google Classroom features, consisting of 23 items, and a Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) questionnaire specified for EFL, consisting of 21 items with four constructs, i.e. usefulness, ease of use, intention, and actual system of use. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression model to determine the effect of each Google Classroom feature on students' perception of TAM indicators. The hypotheses were rejected at the significance level of 0.05. The research results show that there is a correlation between both variables. The results also show that Classwork and Stream features were significant predictors for almost all TAM indicators. In this case, Classwork feature covers learning activities, and Stream feature includes interaction or communication facilities. Based on these results, it can be suggested that e-learning needs to facilitate students learning activities (e.g., quizzes, assignments, materials, and schedules) and student interaction/communication (e.g., announcements, notices, discussions, and shared posts). The results of this study contribute to educators and e-learning developers to consider maximizing the use and design of learning activity and interaction features due to their significance in online learning. The vibrant commercial landscape of Durban Central, South Africa, is greatly influenced by the dynamic contributions of small retail businesses. Beyond their economic impact, small businesses also generate employment opportunities. However, despite their significance, small businesses are often hindered by obstacles to achieving and maintaining sustainable performance. To overcome these obstacles, it is essential to comprehend the influence of different factors on their performance. This study aims to evaluate the impact of process efficiency, people (human factor) and physical evidence (3 selected Ps) on the performance of small retail businesses. Existing research highlights the significance of these 3 selected Ps in propelling the success of small businesses, with a focus on streamlining operations, motivated staff and creating aesthetically pleasing storefronts. A quantitative approach was implemented in this study. This involved the distribution of self-completed surveys of a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire ranging from “strongly agree to strongly disagree”. 190 out of 217 small retail business owners in Durban Central completed the survey, resulting in a response rate of 87.56%. Quantitative data was analysed using the SPSS version 29. Pearson’s Chi square was used to test the formulated hypotheses. The findings showed that small retail business owner/managers hold a strong belief that there is a positive influence between the 3 selected Ps and business performance. This underlines the significance of investing in a favourable physical environment, streamlining internal processes and prioritising employee development and involvement to improve business performance. However, it is worth noting that while many businesses reported positive outcomes, there were also varying perceptions of performance among small retail businesses, indicating that external factors may also play a role in their success. It is recommended that small businesses invest in creating a friendly physical space, streamlining internal processes and providing thorough employee training and engagement.

Digitization has seen an impressive evolution in recent years, felt at the level of all industries and activities. The processes managed until recently by human capital have started to be digitized, a transformation that can be perceived both as an opportunity and as a threat to the human resources involved in carrying out those activities. The current work aims to summarize the impact that digital transformation has had and still has on activities, as well as the ways in which the automation of some processes can be transformed from a threat into an opportunity, with a direct impact on increasing competitiveness and productivity, on streamlining processes, as well as reducing the incidence of human errors. Also, daily activities performed by human resources are influenced by digitalization, therefor we will focus also on threats and opportunities for people in their personal live.

In recent years, some illegal activities have emerged, enabling their owners to counterfeit billions of local and international currencies. Therefore, it is necessary to combat these activities by increasing insurance awareness among the public, and upgrading the level of the banknote and the elements included in its components and means of insurance. The problem of the research represented in the difficulty recognizing and distinguishing between original and counterfeit currencies for a large segment of Egyptian society and the absence of identifying the insurance components in Egyptian currencies and limiting them to a specific segment of specialists, whether in the field of their production or circulation, such as banks. The aim of the research is developing ways of dealing with the public through the Internet and smart phone applications, easily defining and educating the public about all insurance means, and identifying whether the currencies are valid or counterfeit. Raising public awareness of the visible and invisible insurance components in Egyptian currencies to support anti-counterfeiting and counterfeiting ways and devices through the application.

The research aims to study the genetic cloning objectively. It is found, through what is mentioned in the Holy Quran, that people is unable to create, as challenged by the Almighty Creator, glory is to Him. In fact, cloning is not creation, but rather a kind of changing Allah’s creation, but it is forbidden. Cloning is a process in which a genetically identical copy of a cell, tissue or living organism is produced from genetic material. This happens naturally in organisms such as bacteria, insects, or plants, where reproduction happens without mating. The newly created copy is termed as a “clone”. The Scottish sheep “Dolly” is considered the most famous example. Cloning also refers to the process of applying a nuclear transfer technique to somatic cells. The research comes to the following findings: 1) Cloning is not considered creation; creation and creativity belong to Almighty Allah alone. 2) Admitting the falsehood of the suspicion of the creation. 3. Genetic cloning is viewed as a part of Allah’s creation and is considered to make significant risks across various aspects, thus doing it is religiously prohibited. In the African cultural context and beyond, personal names are not just unique forms of identifying and individuating their bearers; they also provide relevant windows that resonate with the people's worldviews, values, and cosmology. From a socio-onomastic perspective, this article examines the representation of people and their description in the Ibibio cultural namescape, which is a source of their traditional epistemology. Personal names are symbolic linguistic resources that contain information about the Ibibio universe of meaning, where people are placed at the centre of every social relationship. Drawing on ethnographic data sourced through participant observation and semi-structured interviews with 30 participants who were name-givers, name-bearers and name-users, this study reveals that the Ibibio naming tradition provides a medium for the dissemination of its traditional cultural scripts, which capture community solidarity, support, security and a sense of belonging. This article concludes that the Ibibio anthroponymic culture reflects people as sources of empowerment. People provide the foundation for understanding the past and a path for reaching one's life goals. This study offers significant entry points into the way the Ibibio act and react to the strength of its community and reinforces the belief that for the Ibibio, people-related regime of names is an important resource used to foster a positive sense of community and well-being. Purpose: We studied the relationship between job engagement and systematic problem solving (SPS) among shop-floor employees and how lean production (LP) and Internet of Things (IoT) systems moderate this relationship. Design/methodology/approach: We collected data from a sample of 440 shop floor workers in 101 manufacturing work units across 33 plants. Because our data is nested, we employed a series of multilevel regression models to test the hypotheses. The application of IoT systems within work units was evaluated by our research team through direct observations from on-site visits. Findings: Our findings indicate a positive association between job engagement and SPS. Additionally, we found that the adoption of lean bundles positively moderates this relationship, while, surprisingly, the adoption of IoT systems negatively moderates this relationship. Interestingly, we found that, when the adoption of IoT systems is complemented by a lean management system, workers tend to experience a higher effect on the SPS of their engagement. Research limitations/implications: One limitation of this research is the reliance on the self-reported data collected from both workers (job engagement, SPS and control variables) and supervisors (lean bundles). Furthermore, our study was conducted in a specific country, Italy, which might have limitations on the generalizability of the results since cross-cultural differences in job engagement and SPS have been documented. Practical implications: Our findings highlight that employees' strong engagement in SPS behaviors is shaped by the managerial and technological systems implemented on the shop floor. Specifically, we point out that implementing IoT systems without the appropriate managerial practices can pose challenges to fostering employee engagement and SPS. Originality/value: This paper provides new insights on how lean and new technologies contribute to the development of learning-to-learn capabilities at the individual level by empirically analyzing the moderating effects of IoT systems and LP on the relationship between job engagement and SPS. In this article, I reflect on the intersection between feminism and documentary art as truth-telling by focusing on Alcaldessa (Ada Colau for Mayor), the most relevant documentary of the long-term collaboration between the film-maker Pau Faus and Ada Colau, the first female mayor of Barcelona (2015–2023). My argument is critical of a reductionist interpretation which portrays Alcaldessa as a personalist postfeminist documentary overly fixated on 'biography rather than policy'. In contrast, I posit that Faus' documentary, delving into Colau's initial electoral campaign (2014–2015), offers valuable insights into pivotal aspects of an underexamined political vision that merges the principles of new municipalism with a focus on the 'common people' (gent comú) and feminism. Furthermore, the documentary sheds light on unreconciled dilemmas inherent in the lived new politics and feminist leadership, issues that often remain concealed within the ideological trappings of political manifestos and programmes. Health organizations are challenged every day to manage their projects in a dynamic context of multifactorial complexity, are intrinsically linked to the organizational competences for PM and project success (on time and budget, with quality, in alignment with the requirements defined by the project owner and stakeholders), through articulation between people, resources, processes and project support structures. The aim of this research was to study the Competence of Portuguese Public Hospitals in PM, carrying out a diagnosis of organizational competences in PM, reflecting on the existing competences and those that are needed, proposing strategies for its development. This study was carried in three public hospitals (51 respondents) and evidence that they can improve their organizational competence in PM. It also shows that there is a statistically significant association between the organizational competence in PM, the role of professionals in projects and their experience. On the other hand, the results also show that the success of projects is influenced by the existence of a PMO dedicated to supporting the project management activity in the organization. Likewise, the existence of a PMO, combined with certification or specific training in PM, and having already managed projects in the organization, didn´t revealed a strong influence on the state of development of organizational competence to manage projects. The results demonstrate that these health organizations need to invest in the development of organizational competence for the success of their projects and that there are not many professionals with certification or specific training in PM. The sustainability of Indigenous Socioecological Systems (ISES) largely depends on well-crafted policy regulations. In particular, Indigenous traditional food systems (ITFS) are an essential component of ISES that provide a variety of culturally accepted, healthy foods while also playing an important role in cultural, spiritual, and economic value to the Indigenous people (IP). Thus, sustainably managing these traditional natural resources must be a priority. As custodians of much of the world's ecological system, IP have, for generations, exhibited sustainable lifestyles in governing these systems. However, Indigenous perspectives and voices have not been properly reflected in the ISES sustainability discourse, and few comparative case studies have addressed this issue. This study contributes to fill this research gap using a desktop research method based on the Political Ecological Theoretical Framework (PETF) to examine how existing regulatory policies may affect the resilience and sustainability of ISES-ITFS, especially in relation to growing environmental and climatic pressures. Two Indigenous communities, the Karen in Thailand and different Indigenous groups in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in Russia, are examined as case studies. Our study provides crucial insight that should help the development of robust policy interventions that integrate Indigenous concerns into policies and regulations, emphasizing self-determination, cultural preservation, and land rights. The findings emphasize the necessity for comprehensive legal frameworks prioritizing Indigenous involvement and concerns in climate and sustainability policy implementations. The article is devoted to the originality of L. N. Tolstoy’s early story “A Billiard-Marker’s Notes” and the history of its writing with the use of preparatory materials. The author aims to analyze and show the interrelation of a wide range of psychological, socio-ethical, and ideological issues raised in the story, which deeply worried the writer in the 1850s. The article proves that the artist’s choice of the genre of “notes” and first-person narratives allowed him to diversify the plot, methods of psychological analysis, and images of the characters’ inner world. The article pays considerable attention to such a feature of “A Billiard-Marker’s Notes” in terms of narratology as the presence of two characters-narrators, opposite to each other in age, social status, level of development, and bearers of different speech styles. This technique allows the writer to depict dramatically Nekhlyudov’s loneliness, “lostness,” and the existing blatant gap between the worldview of the nobility and the people and their ethics. The narrator’s expressive word, completing the work, brings it to the existential level. The image of the character-marker and his perception of reality testifies to the connections of “A Billiard-Marker’s Notes” with the traditions of the “natural school,” its humanistic principles, and democracy. This story, along with other works of the 1850s, contains the origins of the religious and philosophical views of the writer-thinker.

Architectural identity reflects the features of a country's people, society, and environment. Recently, Countries' unique architectural identities have been faded due to globalization, making it difficult to determine each country's regional and local identities. One of the significant architectural elements which characterize the Arab heritage urbanism is the courtyard residence. It is the most important element that characterizes the heart of all the Islamic-Arab houses. The building design usually begins from the courtyard it had been used by Arabs and Muslims in architecture for its compatibility within the environmental, cultural, and social requirements. In traditional residences, Courtyard was considered the focal point of the house, it had functioned as the essential ventilation and daylight for the adjacent built-up spaces. Despite there have been different studies of historical, social, cultural, and environmental aspects of courtyard architecture, but there was not much focusing on its spatial impact. In most traditional Cairene houses, the courtyard was used not only to obtain privacy, which in Arab society is a requirement but also to improve the thermal comfort inside a residence. This paper investigates the climatic and social benefits of the courtyard houses and studies the courtyard’s effect as a natural design technique and a microclimate adjustor in a hot arid climate. The paper is illustrating spatial locations, composition, and thermal performance of courtyards, in addition, it analyses the contemporary courtyards house application in the hot-arid regions. Two selected case studies were chosen to be discussed in accordance with the theoretical studies. Finally, the paper proposing a guideline in design process to improve a courtyard's thermal performance.

Abstract Background In August 2004 a series of debris flows caused significant disruption to the Scottish (strategic) Trunk Road Network. The subsequent Scottish Road Network Landslides Study identified a number of sites considered to be at highest risk. Some of these sites have been the subject of formal quantitative assessment of the risk from debris flow to mobile road users in vehicles. The A82 in Glen Coe has the added complication that two car parks have developed on debris fans exposing significant numbers of people to the risk while, they are essentially static and largely outside their vehicles. Methodology The risk to road users is determined using a previously developed probabilistic methodology for mobile road users (mobile elements at risk) and a new and related methodology developed for static road users (static elements at risk) is described and applied. Within the latter, an entirely new metric of Annual Average Daily Visits is used to allow the temporal component of the probability of a landslide impacting a person to be determined given the occurrence of an event. Results While Personal Individual Risk is at an acceptable level, including for frequent users, the risk presented to society as a whole presents a rather different picture; this is largely due to the number of visitors. The results assess the overall, societal risk for mobile elements at risk as As Low As reasonably Practicable, being at a similar level to other sites, albeit with a higher risk associated with higher numbers of fatalities. The results for the static elements at risk on the other hand suggest that the risks are classified as Unacceptable for higher numbers of fatalities. The assessment of the total societal risk, for mobile and static elements at risk, at the A82 Glen Coe suggests As Low As Reasonably Practicable for low numbers of fatalities but classify as Unacceptable for higher numbers of fatalities (around 20 to 250).
